A reluctant vampire with an irresistible allure. A mysterious ingénue, who is inexorably drawn to him. A jealous vixen, who is both seductress and sorceress. A strange family in a creepy old mansion, with secrets around every corner.
These were some of the hallmarks of a hugely popular series in the late 1960s that broke the mold of daytime television. In an era already marked by tremendous upheaval, “Dark Shadows” shook up the soap opera status quo with its unique blend of gothic mystery, romance and melodrama. Suddenly, young people were racing home from school to follow the strange twists and turns of the Collins family. Without DVRs, or even VCRs, to record missed episodes, “Dark Shadows” became the definition of “appointment television” for a generation of devoted fans, for whom it remains a cult favorite.

I’ll fully admit that I have only seen one or two episodes of the original Dark Shadows television show but I think fans of the show that were eagerly looking towards Tim Burton’s adaptation might be a bit disappointed. Burton’s film that involves Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) feels more like an Addams Family adaptation by using Barnabas as a comedic, man from another time element. However, since I wasn’t a faithful watcher of the original show, this trailer works for me. It looks like Burton is having fun and definitely delivering a project that seems personal.

Just yesterday we had a little chat about Tim Burton‘s upcoming Dark Shadows, and today we have something fresh to share with you, because French actress Eva Green is in talks to join the cast as well!
Green is probably best known for her appearance in 2006′s Casino Royale so, we guess that this kind of project could be nice come-back for her.
She will play Angelique Bouchard Collins, character that was a witch trapped in a love/hate relationship with Vampire Barnabas Collins in the series.
You already know that Barnabas Collins will be played by Johnny Depp.
Jackie Earle Haley is negotiating to play Willie Loomis, a conman who releases Collins from his sealed coffin only to be attacked and enslaved as the vampire’s manservant.
On the other hand, Bella Heathcoate is reportedly playing Victoria Winters, the young governess of the Collins estate.

It seems that "Dark Shadows" is going to be Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton's next project after they wrap "Alice in Wonderland". Being met on Friday, December 4, during when he was promoting "The Young Victoria", producer Graham King has given an update on the possible shooting schedule of the horror movie.
"We're actually going to shoot that film next September/October with Tim Burton and Johnny," Graham stated. "We've been working on the script a lot, even though he's working on 'Alice'," he added. "We've been given a script. John August wrote the first screenplay. We're making some changes, but the film's going to be in production, as I say, September or October of next year."
