New York, Jan. 13: The 10 million dollars wrongful death law suit against Elle Macpherson's husband Jeffrey Soffer has been refiled after it was withdrawn by the widow of a man killed in a helicopter crash.
The widow of Lance Valdez, who lost his life in the accident in the Bahamas in 2012, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Soffer in December, accusing the millionaire of flying the helicopter without a license and later persuading pilot David Pearce to say he was at the controls, the New York Post reported.
Earlier this month the wife of late Valdez withdrew the claim over jurisdiction issues, but has now refilled an amended suit in a Miami, Florida court.
In the legal papers, she reiterates her claim that Soffer.

Elle Macpherson’s husband Jeffrey Soffer no longer needs to defend himself in the $100 million lawsuit that alleges he bears responsibility for a death in a helicopter accident last year.
Lawsuit Against Jeffrey Soffer Dropped
Daria Pastouhkova Gogoleva, the widow of tax attorney Lance Valdez, has opted to withdraw her lawsuit, which claimed that Soffer had been piloting the helicopter that crashed into the Bahamas, ending her husband’s life in November 2012. The lawsuit had also claimed that McPherson had aided her billionaire husband in hiding the fact that he’d been behind the controls of the ill-fated chopper.
“We were not surprised by the decision to withdraw this lawsuit, which was riddled with factual errors and unfounded accusations," said Soffer’s lawyer Bob Martinez. “The case collapsed just a few weeks after the lawsuit was filed and widely publicized by the other side and before we even had a chance to respond,...

It's been quite some time since we last heard anything about Ridley Scott's adaptation of the four Red Riding books by David Pearce (which were previously turned into a trilogy of UK films by three different directors - review here), but now news has come of a new writer signing on to the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, James (Jamie) Vanderbilt, The Amazing Spider-Man writer who also wrote David Fincher's Zodiac, has been tapped to pen the script for Columbia's adaptation of Red Riding. Along with directing, Ridley Scott is producing via his Scott Free banner with Steve Zaillian and the Film Rites shingle. Ridley Scott‘s completely unnecessary adaptation of the Red Riding novels is something that I’ve been trying to ignore, if only because I liked the original trilogy of movies so much. Still, Columbia Pictures is moving forward, and THR says that James Vanderbilt will be taking on the task of adapting the four books from David Pearce. He’s likely best known for writing David Fincher‘s Zodiac and the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man (which stars Andrew Garfield, lead of the first film in the original trilogy).
Those books followed the investigation of several missing girls in rural England, which spans from 1974 to 1983. The tale is a pretty big one, and has many characters that are all essential to the overall plot. While it hasn’t been made clear what exactly is being adapted here, there hasn’t been any indication that the movie will be split into a trilogy.

It’s been awhile (May 2010) since we have had an update on the Runaways film adaptation from Marvel Studios, but apparently Production Weekly believes that the film version of Brian K. Vaughn’s teen superhero concept will begin filming in March 2011.
Originally the movie was supposed to start filming in January, so it’s interesting they have pushed it back. No cast members have been announced for the film, but a director and writer have been attached since last year.
David Pearce and the comic’s creator, Brian K. Vaughn, wrote the screenplay for the film and Peter Sollet is directing the movie.
Runaways is one of my favorite things from Marvel, and I am very much looking forward to the upcoming film from presumably Disney and Marvel Studios. The series, created by Brian K. Vaughn (The Pride, Y: The Last Man), a former writer/producer of Lost, follows a...

If you are not a fan of English soccer, you won't fully appreciate the qualities of The Damned United. That's too bad because this splendidly acted film provides a lesson in technically excellent filmmaking. Unfortunately, while it may appear to be biographical tale of one of England’s greatest soccer managers, it takes too many liberties with the truth to get away without a caution.
Want to know more? The Damned United focuses on a brief period in the managerial career of Brian Clough, one of English soccer's most outspoken and opinionated team managers. He was also the only manager to take a team (Nottingham Forest) to the final of the prestigious European Cup (now the European Champions League) two years in a row and win both times.
Clough enjoyed success early in his managerial career at Derby County. He had previously played for his home town of Middlesborough and...
