The Hollywood Reporter
Believe it or not, Sausage Party is getting a big Oscars push thanks to Sony.
The naughty R-rated animated film—which was written by and stars Seth Rogen, among others—was both a critical hit (currently sitting at 83% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) and commercial success (earning more than $135 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo) this summer and now it’s getting a campaign, as reported by our very own Scott Feinberg for The Hollywood Reporter, to help it compete in the 89th Academy Awards next February.
If you think this move is crazy, let us remind you about some of the off-the-wall things that have happened in the 21st century alone that will make it sound totally normal.
Blackface controversy.
Who would have guessed that—in 2009—there would be someone nominated for an Oscar who played a character in blackface.

Dystopia! What a place to be. Well, except when people are mulched to feed an over populated society (Soylent Green) or killed at the age of 30 to control it (Logan’s Run); and in the case of Turkey Shoot (1982), hunted for sport by society’s elite. Come to think of it, Dystopia is kind of a bummer.
Released in its native Australia in October, Turkey Shoot wouldn’t see the light of day in the U.S. until September of ’83 under the title Escape 2000. Both titles work; the former playing into the more lurid elements, while the latter highlights the cut rate sci-fi angle. And it’s the swirling combination of the two that gives this sucker its punch. Turkey Shoot is A class exploitation with a down under smile.

The other three songs — “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie, “Lost Stars” from Begin Again and “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me — are all performed at some point during the film.
Now, that’s not to say that the end-credits songs aren’t relevant to the plot. Both “Grateful” and “Glory” stick with the themes of their respective films and summarize relevant events, even if they aren’t integral to each plot’s progression.

Since its premiere at Sundance, Richard Linklater’s Boyhood has been garnering Oscar buzz and rave reviews. The film could score nominations for best picture, director, actor and more, but after submitting three songs to the Academy for consideration in the best original song category, the film could add another nomination. Two of the songs were written by Ethan Hawke, who could garner a best supporting actor nomination for his portrayal of the father. If Hawke receives a best original song nomination for one of his songs, he will join a short list of actors who have scored nominations for songs since 1994.

Why was Three 6 Mafia member DJ Paul walking around with a Taser gun?
"I use it for personal protection," is what he allegedly told a cop when he was busted for drinking an open container of Corona beer after leaving a New York restaurant Sunday night. According to the New York Daily News, DJ Paul (née Paul Beauregard) was charged with weapons possession and public drinking. Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Beauregard was released Monday morning after pleading "not guilty" to both charges; he is due in court in December.
No word on whether the Memphis-based rapper was attempting to reenact a scene from "Hustle & Flow," the 2005 movie for which his group snagged an Oscar for Best Original Song, with "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp."...

The Choice S01E1: "DJ Paul D, Romeo, Jeremy Bloom, and Jason Cook"
I.m pretty sure the working title for The Choice was So Which of You Bitches Is Going to Give me a Hand Job In My Limo? How else would you describe four semi-famous bachelors selecting from a pool of suggestively dressed ladies after a couple shouted questions and a 10-second deliberation?

The saying goes: If Hollywood is really the movie capital of the world, then Oscar night is the world’s biggest wrap party, and like all parties, each event comes with unwelcome guests, embarrassing situations, strange fashions and controversial moments. In fact, controversy and the Oscars seem to go hand in hand and despite the fact that the Academy Awards are, for the most part, an elegant and tightly controlled affair, some very strange things do occur. Let’s take a look back through the history of the Academy Awards, and some of it’s strangest and more controversial moments – which sadly were also the most memorable.

Jersey Shore star Paul 'Pauly D' DelVecchio is facing a $$4 million lawsuit for alleged copyright infringement. Connecticut-based DJ Paul Lis filed legal papers on Thursday claiming that DelVecchio's moniker of 'Pauly D' infringes on his own trademarked name 'DJ Paulie' and has had a negative impact on his business. "He formally trademarked the name 'DJ Paulie' and then came the Jersey Shore, which basically wiped him off the face of the map," Lis' attorney Jose M. Rojas said in a statement released by The New York Post. Lis claims that since Jersey Shore launched in 2009, it has become virtually impossible to find details of his business online due to the similarity of his and DelVecchio's names and profession. Rojas claims to have sent a cease-and-desist (more)...

Stop everything you are doing and watch this trailer for 'Famous Food.' Why? Because it's an epic train wreck and if this trailer is any indication, this series will be reality TV gold.
The new VH1 show features "celebrities" starting a restaurant from the ground up. They have to conceptualize the eatery, hire and train a staff, stay on budget, pick out uniforms ... basically, they're really working.
The celebs behind it all? Danielle Staub, Heidi Montag, Jake Pavelka, Ashley Dupre, DJ Paul and Juicy J from the Three 6 Mafia and 'Sopranos' actor Vincent Pastore.
The cast members are competing for a partnership stake in the restaurant with the Dolce Group.
In the trailer below -- thanks TV Guide! -- watch Heidi Montag fail at some bar tricks, the Three 6 Mafia talk about Ashley Dupre's, uh, assets, and Danielle Staub put on her...
