Three years have gone by since it was announced that Edgar Wright was coming on board to direct a new take on the novel The Running Man, which was written by Stephen King under his Richard Bachman pen name. The Running Man was, of course, previously turned into a film back in 1987 that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger – and even though that movie was very different from the source material, Schwarzenegger is still a tough act to follow. But now we know who’s brave enough to take on the challenge. Paramount has announced that Edgar Wright’s The Running Man is set to star Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick!
Wright is producing the film with Nira Park and Simon Kinberg.
King’s novel has the following description: It was the ultimate death game in a nightmare future America. The year is 2025 and reality TV has grown to the point where...

Originally reported way back in 2021, Edgar Wright is directing a new take on Stephen King’s The Running Man, and Paramount has announced out of CinemaCon today that Glen Powell will star.
Edward Wright will direct the brand new movie adaptation of Stephen King’s novel and he will also produce along with his producing partner Nira Park and Simon Kinberg.
King’s novel, published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, was released in 1982, loosely adapted into the same-titled Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring film in 1987.
Deadline reminds, “King’s futuristic novel is a chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025. The story centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who participates in violent reality show “The Running Man” in order to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter. The show follows Richards being chased by numerous hunters, sent to kill him.”

Glen Powell is lacing up his sneakers.
The “Top Gun: Maverick” star will lead the cast of Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man,” taking on a role played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 cult favorite. The dystopian action film is based on a novel of the same name by horror maestro Stephen King, which he first published under a pseudonym, Richard Bachman.
Wright, best known for directing the satiric zombie film “Shaun of the Dead,” will also produce the picture along with Simon Kinberg and Nira Park. The filmmaker, whose work overflows with style and wit, most recently made the psychological horror film “Last Night in Soho.” His other credits include “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Baby Driver.”
Powell is on a hot streak lately and has found himself in demand by many studios who believe he has the kind of charisma that could make him a major star.

Joe Cornish is back with another story about kids fighting for our future. The director of "Attack the Block" and "The Kid Who Would Be King" is the showrunner behind Netflix's "Lockwood & Co." Stone is said to be playing the role of a mother whose 11-year-old child is kidnapped, forcing her to kidnap another child to have hers released and continue the chain.
The movie tells the story of Rachel, who learns that her 11-year-old daughter has been kidnapped. The only way to get her back is to kidnap another child. Her daughter will be released only when the next victim’s parents kidnap another child. If Rachel doesn’t kidnap another child, or if that child’s parents don’t kidnap a child, her daughter will be murdered. She is now part of The Chain, a terrifying and meticulous chain letter-like kidnapping scheme that turns parents from victims into criminals.

Have a yen for the music, style and glamour of ’60s Swinging London? Edgar Wright’s hybrid time capsule / music extravaganza / horror thriller is an audiovisual delight from one end to the other. Young women from different decades seek to conquer London by different means — they meet as soul twins in a ghost world, where bloodsoaked murders haunt their dreams. Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy are the psychic twins; stars Rita Tushingham, Terence Stamp and the late Diana Rigg bring the authenticity. Soho can boast the most creatively ‘alive’ visuals of 2021.

Focus Features presents Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho, a twisty psycho-thriller with a great soundtrack, as Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch goes wider, testing the appeal of a director whose films have been called the arthouse equivalent of Marvel.
Last Night, a time-bending genre tale, unspools on just over 3,000 screens — not exactly specialty but it’s from a writer-director who “can dip his toe into anything, a true specialty film, a more commercial film like Baby Driver, and now a psychological thriller that harkens back to Hitchcock, Brian De Palma and David Lynch,” said Focus distribution president Lisa Bunnell. It’s “more than a typical commercial slasher movie. It takes the thriller genre to a new level.”
The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and screened at TIFF, where it resonated strongly with preview and festival audiences. Deadline’s review “called it a dark and delicious trip.

Although it may be difficult to believe, this year marks one decade since the release of the alien invasion movie Attack the Block, so it's fitting that Deadline reports the original movie's star John Boyega and director Joe Cornish are reteaming for a sequel.
According to Deadline, Boyega will reprise his role as Moses in addition to producing the sequel (via his UpperRoom Productions company) alongside Nira Park, James Wilson, and Cornish. In addition to directing and producing, Cornish will also write the new film, although specific story details have not been revealed.
Here's what Boyega had to say about Attack the Block 2 (via Deadline):
“It’s been a decade since Attack the Block was released and so much has changed since then. I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing...
