ReelzChannel Acquires U.S. Rights To ‘Pillars’ Follow-Up ‘World Without End’

22 May 2012 2:34 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

ReelzChannel has snagged U.S. premiere rights to the eight-hour miniseries World Without End, the sequel to Scott Free Films and Tandem Communications’ mini The Pillars Of The Earth that aired last year on Starz and garnered seven Emmy nominations. The two projects were based on the Ken Follett epic novels. ReelzChannel, which had great success with airing The Kennedys miniseries via its TV About Movies platform — it competed with Pillars in last year’s Emmy Miniseries or Movie category —  plans a fall 2012 airdate; it acquired and aired the nine-part Pillars for its second U.S. window last year after Starz. “With The Kennedys we conditioned our audience to know that our network is home to the biggest miniseries, and World Without End is exactly that,” ReelzChannel Seo Stan Hubbard said. We've got great news for fans of Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth — not to mention miniseries fans in general. Reelz is set to be the premiere home for the eight-part adaptation of the sequel, World Without End, which was on The New York Times bestseller list for 26 weeks.

Set in Kingsbridge 200 years after the events of Pillars, World Without End picks up with a new cast of characters. Caris, a feisty young woman played by Charlotte Riley (The Duchess, Wuthering Heights), inspires her medieval town to confront the most powerful forces of her time, the Church and the Crown, as Kingsbridge fights to save the town from ruin and, ultimately, usher in a new era of freedom, innovation, and enlightenment.

World Without End also stars Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City, The Big C) as the beautiful and deadly schemer Petranilla, Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, »

New Skyfall Video Blog Highlights the Sets of the Latest James Bond Film

4 May 2012 6:49 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

A new video blog for Sam Mendes' Skyfall has gone online.  Sony is still keeping the plot details of James Bond's latest adventure under wraps, but Steve was able to tease out a few bits of info when he visited the set earlier this week.  The new video blog doesn't reveal anything about the story, but it does show off some of the cool sets created by production designer Dennis Gassner (Road to Perdition).  I'm not sure why M (Judi Dench) is working out of what looks like an old train station, but I'm eager to find out. Hit the jump to check out the video blog, and click the corresponding links for Steve's interview with Mendes, Daniel Craig, producer Barbara Broccoli, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris.    The film also stars Javier Bardem, Ben Chaplin, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens November 9th. New set photos have leaked online from Sam Mendes' upcoming James Bond movie, Skyfall.  The images can be considered spoilers, so I won't say anything more here beyond "Mr. Bond, this is why we can't have nice things." Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Ben Chaplin, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens November 9th. The crew on Skyfall spent months to build 007's mansion in the English countryside.  According to the Daily Mail, "According to onlookers, the fire is started in the scenes by Javier Bardem who was seen by the lodge surrounded by a camera crew.  His malevolent character - called Silva - and his gang are filmed throwing an incendiary device into the lodge."  I suppose if you're going to try and kill James Bond, you don't want to play small ball. »

Director Sam Mendes’ First Videoblog for the New James Bond Film, Skyfall

22 February 2012 7:26 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Filming is currently underway for the new James Bond film, Skyfall.  Throughout production, director Sam Mendes will be providing videoblogs to provide fans with updates on 007's latest adventure.  I'm a little baffled when Mendes says that Casino Royale is about Bond being a real man in a real situation, and then turns around and say that reminded him of the Sean Connery movies.  Has he seen those lately?  In You Only Live Twice, Bond convinces people that he's Japanese.  Connery's Bond isn't even as seductive as people tend to think.  Women want to have sex with him before they've even met him (see: From Russia with Love).  The Craig movies are almost a complete 180 from Connery's and there's nothing wrong with that.  Honestly, it seems like Mendes wants to praise both the last Bond movie people really loved as well as the Connery movies, which people will always love. »

New Set Images of Daniel Craig from the New James Bond Film, Skyfall

3 February 2012 11:00 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Production is currently underway on the 23rd film in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, and Daniel Craig has been spotted filming some cardio-heavy scenes. The first official still from the pic was released a few days ago, in which we saw Craig wielding a gun. These set photos may seem a bit redundant, as they again show Craig as Bond wielding a gun. The actor was apparently filming a scene that required him to run, and he’s also wearing a handy-dandy earpiece. Not much is known about the plot, but director Sam Mendes has assembled quite the cast so I’m very much looking forward to the next Bond entry. Hit the jump to check out the set photos. The film also stars Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Ben Chaplin, Judi Dench, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens November 9th. First Official Image from the New James Bond Film, Skyfall

A few weeks ago, I noted with confusion that an image of Daniel Craig chilling by a pool was an odd choice for the first official image from the new James Bond film, Skyfall.  Turns out I was right to be confused.  The official James Bond Facebook page has released what they're calling the first official image from Skyfall and they should know.  The image looks far more "Bond"-ian in that is has James Bond holding a gun and…James Bond holding a gun.  He's a neat room, though.  It looks like he wandered into a level of Perfect Dark. New Twixt One-Sheet Ready to Bite

Elle Fanning is sure to be an actor we'll be following for some time. The good folks behind Francis Ford Coppola's latest fear flick, Twixt, obviously know this and have landed her in Goth vampy guise front and center on the film's new one-sheet.

Inspired by the Gothic horror of Edgar Allan Poe, Francis Ford Coppola's latest "tells the tale of a burnt-out mystery writer (Val Kilmer) who gets mixed up in murder and evil in a California town." Bruce Dern, Elle Fanning, David Paymer and Ben Chaplin also star. Coppola is collaborating with performance artist Dan Deacon on the score and an upcoming 30-city tour that will incorporate live elements along with the film's screening. Vote for your city here.

Synopsis

A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. »

Twixt tells the story of a burnt-out mystery writer (Val Kilmer) who gets mixed up in murder and evil in a California town. Currently the film does not have distribution in the Us but will be distributed by Pathe fror in France. Many are calling Twixt a complete disaster when it first showed at Tiff. It looks like Twixt will continue the string of bad films from the once great Francis Ford Coppola. Francis Ford Coppola (Godfather, Apocalypse Now) directed and was the writer for Twixt that stars Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Elle Fanning, David Paymer, and Ben Chaplin. »
