Last week, Shudder announced the release date for “season 666” of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, and now we have some details about the cast members for Dragula’s sixth season. Judging by the cast photo, this is a group to be reckoned with!
The Boulet Brothers are on a roll, with two Emmy nominations and what they promise will be their most terrifying season yet. And everything starts just in time for Halloween, with a supersized 90-minute premiere episode hitting Shudder and AMC+ on October 1. After that, a new one-hour-long episode will make its debut each Tuesday.
The new cast certainly has their work cut out for them, since we have been promised that the upcoming 10-episode season will be “bigger, bloodier, and more brutal than anything that’s come before.” The challenges have been expanded, and the competitors will be pushed to their mental and physical limits to get a shot at a $100,000 grand prize,...

How difficult is it to write a convincing hit record for a film or TV show? Just take one look at the Harry Connick Jr rom-com Find Me Falling, streaming on Netflix…
There are all kinds of elements that, even in the best-written or best-directed films or TV shows, can pull the viewer out of the moment: it might be an off-key performance, an unconvincing prop or a special effect that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. One thing that can be particularly difficult for filmmakers to get right, though, is to write a song that, in the movie or show’s fictional world at least, is a much-loved, multi-platinum hit.
This brings us to Find Me Falling, a romantic comedy by writer-director Stelana Kliris that appeared on Netflix on the 19th July. The premise is quite a good one: Harry Connick Jr plays John Allman, a creatively exhausted, middle-aged...

The Lab builds on the festival’s Full Moon Script Contest, launched in 2020, which awards three creative residencies a year to winning writers in Transylvania. Full Moon Creative Lab project manager Ileana Cecanu said the response to the new TV program, first unveiled a year ago, has “exceeded all expectations.” Cecanu said she trusts we’ll soon seen the projects pitching at Full Moon this year on a TV or streaming platform in the near future. “I’d definitely be the first one binging them,” she says.

Netflix has a slew of shows that are coming to an end, which opens up a lot of pillars for a new line of content that Netflix must produce to get subscribers to its service. Kathryn Bigelow‘s upcoming Netflix film is shaping up after the additions of Idris Elba and Rebecca Fergusson as Gabriel Basso and Jared Harris enter final negotiations to join the cast.
Nearly everything about this movie remains secret, from the title to the synopsis to the stars’ roles. According to Deadline, the story revolves around the White House, where a crisis erupts. While there’s not much to go on, it’s not impossible to imagine Elba, Fergusson, Basso, and Harris leading a political thriller.
It’s been a while since Bigelow shot a feature film. Her last effort was the crime drama Detroit, which starred John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, Algee Smith, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever, and Jacob Latimore. The fact-based drama, focusing on the 1967 Detroit riots, follows a group of rogue police officers who respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice.

The life cycle of a Foo Fighters song doesn’t always end with a track being recorded, released, and performed on tour. They have records that have made it onto albums, but never onto a tour setlist. They also have some that never made it past the early recording stages, but have been performed live on tour — this is the case for “Unconditional,” a demo the band largely forgot about until they began rehearsing for their current run of live shows. Thursday night, at the Everything or Nothing at All U.

Things seem to be moving pretty quickly on her new film, following the scrapping of Kathryn Bigelow’s previous Netflix project.
After a protracted period of development, it was with some dismay that we learned back in April that Netflix wouldn’t be moving forward with Kathryn Bigelow’s planned film Aurora. As you likely know, there’s been a change in leadership at the streaming platform’s film division and Bigelow’s project – her first since 2017’s Detroit – was deemed as no longer suitable due to budgetary reasons.
On the bright side though, Netflix quickly announced that the Point Break and Zero Dark Thirty filmmaker would be directing a different project with it, and thankfully, things seem to be running much more smoothly this time.

Katheryn Bigelow will be getting back in the director’s chair for the first time since 2017’s historical drama Detroit. Bigelow was known for some beloved titles in the 90s, including Point Break and a movie that we’ve featured on a video about films that are hard to find — Strange Days. Bigelow reached new success when she directed The Hurt Locker in 2008, which would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. She would then follow that film up with Zero Dark Thirty. Deadline reports that not only is Bigelow directing a new film for Netflix, but she may lock down two stars for her film with Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson.

Inspired by an open letter penned by Indigenous climate activists, Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora’s What Happened to the Heart? explores the Earth as a vessel for self-actualization. Viewing the natural world with a childlike sense of awe and wonder, Aurora acknowledges the ephemerality of life across 16 sonic landscapes that are, at turns, as lush, thorny, and teeming with diversity as the planet itself.
Aurora analogizes her body to the Earth on tracks like “The Essence”—comparing herself to a tree, “vulnerable just like me”—and equates her mortality to that of the planet’s through an almost metaphysical lens on “Your Blood” and “My Name.” “Your blood, what matter is it made of?/Do you feel it travel in and out of your heart?” she wonders on the former track, before declaring, “We are dust,” nodding to the theory that everything in the material world is made of stardust while...

The cast of Daisy Jones & The Six were set to take the stage once again according to series star Suki Waterhouse.
Waterhouse shared in a YouTube vlog on Thursday from the 2023 Lollapalooza festival that she along with the cast, which also included Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon and Will Harrison, were supposed to perform at the Chicago-based music festival last summer.
“That whole thing was planned, we got people visas, like, it was an operation. And then the SAG strike happened, so we all decided that we should not perform at Lollapalooza,” the actress and singer recalled. Amid the strike, guidelines stated that the union’s affected members would be prohibited from all principal on-camera work — including acting, singing, dancing and stunts — on top of off-camera work, such as voice-acting and narration. All promotional activity such as interviews, award shows and podcasts were also not allowed by union members at the time.

At long last, Kathryn Bigelow is returning to filmmaking. After 2017’s Detroit, she was developing the David Koepp-scripted thriller Aurora for Netflix but has now moved on to another project for the company. The untitled thriller will unfold in real-time at the White House as a missile attack threatens the United States. THR reports former NBC News president Noah Oppenheim, who also wrote Jackie, scripted the project based on Bigelow’s idea. No additional details were revealed but with Netflix now greenlighting the project, here’s hoping it kicks off before the end of the year.

Kathryn Bigelow was set to direct Aurora for Netflix, but that film got scrapped: now, though, she’s got another one.
Since Dan Lin was appointed as Netflix’s new film boss, we’ve all been waiting to see what kind of movies would be getting the green light at the Silicon Valley streaming outfit.
As of today, we have the very beginnings of an answer. Along with Happy Gilmore 2 – a sequel to Adam Sandler’s beloved 1996 comedy – it has also been announced that Kathryn Bigelow will be directing an as yet untitled thriller for the company.
Not much in the way of news has been released about the project but thanks to The Hollywood Reporter we do know this: the film will be focused ‘on a group of White House officials scrambling to deal with an incoming missile attack on the U.S. Sources say the story will...

Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow has set her next feature film at Netflix. The streamer confirmed the project during its upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday afternoon in New York.
No title or plot details were revealed. The project marks Bigelow’s first feature since the 2017 police brutality period film “Detroit,” which was produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures. Though that feature received positive reviews, it failed to capture the awards and commercial success of the director’s previous two works: the controversial 2012 CIA manhunt thriller “Zero Dark Thirty” and the acclaimed 2009 Iraq war feature “The Hurt Locker,” which won six categories at the 2010 Academy Awards including best picture. For “Hurt Locker,” Bigelow became the first woman ever to win the Oscar for best director.
Since “Detroit,” Bigelow has directed an Apple commercial and a short film. In March 2022, Netflix announced the filmmaker would helm an adaptation of screenwriter David Koepp’s disaster novel “Aurora,...

It was reported last month that Kathryn Bigelow had dropped out of directing an adaptation of the apocalyptic David Koepp novel “Aurora” for Netflix as new film chief Dan Lin was starting his role. But one of Lin’s first green lights will reportedly be a different Bigelow film with a similarly apocalyptic bent.
According to a report in Puck, “The Hurt Locker” director Bigelow has been tapped to direct a thriller about the White House’s real-time response efforts to an incoming ballistic missile attack on American soil. The script for the film is written by Noah Oppenheim, and the project is expected to be formally announced when Netflix hosts its Upfronts presentation to advertisers next week.
Puck also reported that despite the green light, Bigelow was “visibly annoyed” in regards to notes from Lin asking for the film to cut its budget and length. The report adds that...

Colter goes to talk to his sister…and finds she’s the one who’s been holding the missing girl captive, in the basement in a small crawl space. Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos says “there’s no appetite to make fewer films” at the streamer under the new film chief Dan Lin, disputing a recent New York Times article that said Netflix would move forward valuing quality over quantity and audience engagement over auteurs.
Sarandos on Thursday’s Netflix Q1 earnings call responded to a piece this week in the New York Times that said “the aim is to make Netflix’s movies better, cheaper and less frequent.”
“That was not a quote from Dan, and I would say that nor did we participate in that article. There is no appetite to make fewer films,” Sarandos responded. “But there is an unlimited appetite to make better films always, even though we have made and are making great films, we want to make them better of course.”

Under Netflix’s new head of film, auteur-driven projects are said to be very much out of favour: Kathryn Bigelow’s Aurora included.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we covered a report which suggested that Dan Lin, the new head of Netflix’s film division, would be looking to scale back the company’s commitment to high-budget films. Expensive movies like The Gray Man, Red Notice or Rebel Moon would be a thing of the past and the film division would instead focus its resources on mid-budget projects.
So far though, the only projects about that aren’t getting a green light seem to be the ones being led by auteur filmmakers.
David Lynch revealed last week that Netflix had rejected his pitch for a feature-length animation while it has emerged today that Aurora – a Kathryn Bigelow project that has been in the works for a while at Netflix...

After a string of false starts and red herrings, Kathryn Bigelow’s Aurora will start shooting this year – her first film since Detroit.
Here’s a story that we return to every so often with a great deal of hope. Reports have emerged (this time via What’s On Netflix) that production is set to begin on Kathryn Bigelow’s next project, sometime ‘in early 2024.’
Bigelow is of course the director of acclaimed political dramas such as Zero Dark Thirty and Detroit. She was the first female director to win an Academy Award for 2010’s The Hurt Locker and she’s the filmmaker behind 1991’s Point Break.
Considering that list of accolades, it’s a shame we haven’t seen a film from Bigelow in the last seven years, although every once in a while a story surfaces to announce that cameras will soon be rolling on her next project.

Picture Tree International has boarded international sales and debuted the trailer for Miia Tervo’s upcoming comedy “The Missile,” set to world premiere at Göteborg’s just-announced Nordic Competition.
Produced by Finland’s Kaisla Viitala and Daniel Kuitunen (Elokuvayhtio Komeetta) and co-produced by Estonia’s Johanna Paulson and Evelin Penttilä (Stellar Film), the film will be distributed in Scandinavia by Aurora Studios.
