After what seems like decades of build-up, Election Day is almost upon us.
The day before (most of) America casts its ballots for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, we’re checking in with our Wishbone followers, who have been answering questions via the popular comparison app on the issues that matter to them and deciding who they’d like to see in the White House.
From Nov. 1 to 2, we tallied 884,578 votes from our Wishbone audience to see how they feel about the issues — 13, to be precise. And here’s what we found.

Harry Hamlin, who recently appeared in Mad Men and Shameless, has a new, unlikely role: John Boehner impersonator.
Hamlin appeared as the politician in a new video for Funny or Die in which he tries to comfort minimum wage employees, discussing the “perks” outside of their hourly pay. Looks wise, it’s a bit of a stretch, but the sketch sure is funny.
“A lot of people have coined me as enemy No. 1 when it comes to raising the federal minimum wage so people can actually live off of what they earn,” Hamlin/Boehner begins. “The truth is, people actually...

If you’ve been on the Internet this month, you’re likely more than aware that a little film called The Fault in Our Stars opens Friday (Read EW’s review here), and it’s going to charm its way into your heart whether you like it or not.
What some might be less familiar with is the term “Nerdfighter” that pops up in some of the reviews of that movie. Here, we’re speaking to those of you whose lives don’t revolve around Tumblr, Twitter, and/or high school.

This week saw the first really beautiful weather Saint Louis has had since November. You should assume that the delay in this week’s column is due to me being outside and savoring the sunshine.
Ghost #2

So it turns out Ghost is the latest in a series of Dark Horse relaunches all tying into what is apparently going to be a coherent pulp hero universe. Coined “Project Dark Sky,” there’s no real narrative for the event other than some half-assed Arg hinting at psychic powers and alien invasions. It apparently has seven core titles, some of which I’ve only just glimpsed passing over on the rack on new comics day. That’s ambitious. But the whole gig is kind of pointless to me, because they...

So I got an e-mail from ‘Minimum Wage’ author Bob Fingerman regarding my most recent criticism of his comic. He answered one question: “Regarding the ‘By Bob Fingerman’ tag on #2, the design of the whole cover apes that of sleazy spinner-rack adult novels that littered drugstores, etc., in the ’60s and ’70s…” I definitely didn’t pick up on this so I very much appreciate his illumination on the subject. “As for the ‘Bob Fingerman’s’ on all other issues,” he contiues, “that’s partly a nod to the ego of John Carpenter (whose name as possessive adorns all his movie titles) and also a practical/pragmatic nod to branding. Unseemly, perhaps, but kind of necessary.” I’m definitely interested in why Bob felt it was necessary but it’s strictly a matter of curiosity and not one of disagreement.
But he also got to the meat of my objections...

And we’re back to normal. Well, not entirely normal. I’ve really started picking up on the digital format now and it’s going to have a bit of an impact on the column. You’ll probably see fewer executions, since one of my primary gripes for a lot previous series was paying insane sums of money for comics with too many ads in them. Digital means no ads, and sometimes it means cheaper prices, too. But I’ll always notify you if I’m reading something digitally, so you can take that into consideration. Do I recommend you go digital? Not at all. I still buy all of my personal books in physical form (though not in Vertigo’s case) every week. But for these comics, you should definitely consider it.

Creative Skillset is calling for more employers to adopt fair approaches to the way they recruit and pay interns as part of a campaign to promote best practice across the Creative Industries.
The campaign calls on employers to improve access and diversity in the creative workforce and advocate best practice by adopting Creative Skillset’s updated Guidelines for Employers Offering Work Placement Schemes.
Developed in consultation with employers, trade associations and unions, the guidelines were launched last night at the Opening Doors to the Creative Industries event. The evening, hosted by Mark Benson, Global MD of VFX house Mpc focussed on promoting best practice for internships.
The Creative Industries Council Skills Group (Cic) found that its lack of diversity means the creative sector risks missing out on talented individuals with the potential to drive growth. The guidelines aim to help extend opportunities for quality internships and other work placements.

I have been a die-hard science fiction and fantasy fan since before I knew what those words really meant. Genre fiction had yet to be uttered as an epithet in my general direction and I knew, long before I had terminology to define it, that I preferred a hefty dose of escapism in my reading materials. When it came right down to it, I’ve had plenty of reality to deal with, thank you very much, and it was nice to go play in someone else’s sandbox for a while. Sure, they were never free of hazards both familiar and unprecedented, but they were at least a step removed from reality by virtue of the fact that they had specific elements that had nothing to do with the world that I inhabit.

A depressingly funny new preview clip from Will Ferrell's upcoming dram-edy, Everything Must Go, has just been released online. Written and directed by novice filmmaker Dan Rush, the movie is based on Raymond Carver's short story "Why Don't You Dance?" The story follows career salesman Nick Porter (Ferrell), who gets fired from his job for falling off the wagon and then returns home to find that his wife has also dumped him, leaving him—and all of his possessions—out in the cold. With no income and no place to live, Nick cracks a beer and reluctantly holds a yard sale on the very spot where his wife deposited his belongings.

There are two kinds of people on Twitter right now — those in the Northeast who are being pounded by snow and those who aren't in the Northeast who are posting snarky things about the great weather they're experiencing. The comics Twitterverse, as it happens, is no exception.
In other news, a few faces in our feed made it out to see some movies over the holiday weekend. Today, we've got reactions to "True Grit" from Brian Michael Bendis and "Tron: Legacy" from Skottie Young. Simon Pegg, meanwhile, caught the "Doctor Who" Christmas special "A Christmas Carol" and shared his thoughts. Check those out along with Chris Onstad's battle against an AeroBed after the jump.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter Report for December 27, 2010.

R&B star R. Kelly has been slapped with a lawsuit from a former employee over allegations of unpaid wages. The "I Believe I Can Fly" hitmaker is accused of failing to compensate Anthony Navarro for overtime hours he racked up in 2007, while Kelly was on tour.
In his legal papers, filed in an Illinois court, Navarro claims he and his fellow workers were sometimes forced to work more than 80 hours a week to help with studio and tour preparations. They were reportedly contracted to be paid time-and-a-half for the additional hours but Navarro alleges he was only paid at the normal rate.
He has also named Kelly's production company, Bass Productions Ltd., in the lawsuit and has cited the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act and the Illinois Minimum Wage Law in his court filing. He is seeking undisclosed damages and court costs.

BBC may not have been happy to lose star David Tennant in the title role of its most popular scripted series, but the bean counters are. That's because Matt Smith, who will become the 11th Doctor in the series, is set to make £1 million, or $1.4 million. Not each year, like Tennant reportedly made, but actually over five years. That means Smith will earn just £200,000, or just over $280,000, each year in the Tardis. The BBC wouldn't discuss with British publication The Daily Telegraph about Smith's salary, but did say that all current deals are being done with the "economic climate in mind." Meaning past companions like Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and especially Catherine Tate may have earned more for their roles in the past. Compared to other British television personalities, ...

Hollywood is still pumping out movies about rich people and all the stuff they can afford to buy-- see Bride Wars as the first offender of 2009-- but Mean Girls director Mark Waters seems to have figured out what we all want to see in this recession. He's in negotiations to direct Minimum Wage, a comedy about a CEO who gets convicted of fraud and, as his punishment, must spend a year working a minimum wage job in the town that his company destroyed. Comeuppance! Celebration of the working class! What more could you want of a movie right now? Even better, Variety says it will be produced by Participant Media, the lefty, social-minded company that gave us The Visitor and Standard Operating Procedure last year. That means it might actually have a thought in its head about the class and economic issues it's dealing with, unlike the usual comedy...

You know, I’m starting to see a bit of a flaw in my plan for Comic Execution. I knew that, eventually, this day would come. You see, just about every week, I’m buying at least one #1 of a series that, more that likely, I won’t buy beyond issue three. This means I am in possession of a pretty absurd amount of debut issues with nothing to follow them. Initially, I thought for sure this would be a sound investment. Turns out it’s not.
On top of that, I’ve been doing a bit of investigating and I’m noticing that my Lcs (local comic shop) is getting comics nearly months after they’ve debuted on digital comics distribution service Comixology. For example, one of my “new” series that I picked up this week, The Illegitimates, apparently debuted at Comixology back on December 18th. Does this mean much,...
