If you watched the series premiere of “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” on Monday night, you probably found yourself scratching your head when you caught your first glimpse of the judges’ table. Simon Cowell was there as usual, but his cohorts Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara were all missing and replaced by WWE superstar Nikki Bella and world champion motocross driver Travis Pastrana. Don’t worry, “AGT” fans. “Extreme” is merely a spin-off series and there has been no official word about the fates of Howie, Heidi and Sofia on the main show. More information on “America’s Got Talent” Season 17, including the premiere date and judges, will be announced by NBC at a later date.
So why aren’t Howie, Heidi and Sofia judging on “AGT: Extreme”? Simply put, Simon and his fellow producers wanted to shake things up and try out new personalities who themselves come from “extreme” backgrounds.

NBC has tweaked its midseason schedule, pushing the premiere of Eurovision offshoot American Song Contest by a month, from the previously announced Monday, Feb. 21 (8-10 p.m.) to March 21. Taking over the slot is new reality series America’s Got Talent: Extreme, which made headlines last fall when a contestant was badly hurt in an on-set accident.
According to sources, the decision to delay American Song Contest is being done over Covid concerns amid the current Omicron surge as the series consists of live shows whose logistics could be difficult in the current wave of rampant infections nationwide.
AGT: Extreme, which will debut Feb. 21, shut down filming in Georgia after stuntman Jonathan Goodwin was crushed between two cars in a daredevil stunt that went wrong. Full Lineup For 2nd New York Asian Film Festival (Nyaff) Winter Showcase February 14th to 16th, 2020
The New York Asian Film Festival ushers in the new decade with the second annual edition of its Winter Showcase. Held at Chelsea’s Sva Theatre over Valentine’s weekend, this year’s showcase celebrates our love of Asian films by turning the spotlight on food cultures through cinema. At a juncture when America still obsesses over Bong Joon-ho’s award-winning Parasite, and some of its more minute plot points such as the wonders of Ram-Don (jjapaguri), it is timely to show that when it comes to putting food front and center, Asian movies do it best.
To celebrate a time-honored tradition of storytelling and the romantic holiday, this year’s lineup brings together trends-and-time-transcending classics as well as some remarkable foodie films of recent years, spanning several decades and different strands of filmmaking: regardless of where and when they are from, these stories pack in full plates of heart and soul,...

South Korea celebrated the centennial of the country’s cinema in style. “Parasite” became the first film to win the coveted Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival as well as the first film to be nominated for and win a Golden Globe award after being nominated for both Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film, eventually being awarded the Best Foreign Language Film of the year. Commercially as well, Korean films enjoyed a successful year, with both “Extreme Job” and “Exit” benefiting from a strong word of mouth to secure their places among the highest grossing Korean films of all time at the domestic box office. Simultaneously, independent cinema also flourished last year, with several smaller films winning big at various international film festivals around the globe, sending hopeful signs for the country’s independent cinema.
Naturally, expectations are high from what Korean cinema has to offer this year.
