Nominations for the 2025 Drama League Awards were announced Tuesday by current Broadway stars Sarah Hyland (The Great Gatsby) and Orville Peck (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club). Winners will be announced May 19 at a ceremony at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

The Drama League Awards honor both Broadway and off-Broadway productions and stand out for their catch-all acting category, the Distinguished Performance Award. An actor can only win it once in their career. After they have won, they can never be nominated again. This year, 51 performers are nominated. There is no crossover between members who vote on the Drama League Awards and the Tonys, but the nominations can nevertheless be revealing as to which performances and productions break through, or not, with this group’s expanded categories.

Romeo + Juliet, the just-closed Broadway production starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, recouped its $7 million capitalization during its extended, sold-out 20-week limited engagement at Circle in the Square, producers announced today.

According to lead producer Seaview, the play, directed by Sam Gold, also had the youngest ticket buying audience in recorded Broadway history, with 14% of purchasers aged 18-24, compared to the current industry average of 3%. The run is the highest grossing limited engagement in Circle in the Square Theatre history and broke the Circle in the Square Theatre single performance gross record three times, all according to Seaview.

Romeo + Juliet played its final performance at Circle in the Square on Sunday, February 16. It officially opened on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

With the announcement today, Romeo + Juliet becomes just the second production of the current Broadway season to confirm recoupment, following Oh, Mary!, which announced its $4.5 million recoupment in November.

Tommy Dorfman will star in New York Theatre Workshop’s upcoming production of “Becoming Eve.”

The show was written by Emil Weinstein (“A League of Their Own”) and is based on the memoir by Abby Chava Stein (“Sources of Pride”). It will be directed by Tyne Rafaeli (“Spain”). “Becoming Eve” will begin performances at Abrons Arts Center on March 19, 2025, with opening night set for April 7. It will have a limited run through April 27, 2025.

Dorfman is best known for her performance on Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why.” She recently appeared on Broadway in Sam Gold’s revival of “Romeo & Juliet” as the Nurse and Tybalt alongside Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor’s titular lovers. Dorfman made her New York theatrical debut in The New Group’s production of Jeremy O. Harris’ play “Daddy.”

The young stars are starring in director Sam Gold‘s new take on the classic Shakespeare play and they performed the first preview on Thursday (September 26) at the Circle in the Square Theater in New York City.

Tommy Dorfman is also making her Broadway debut in the production and Tony nominee Gabby Beans is part of the starry cast as well.

Following the performance, Rachel, Kit, and the rest of the cast joined fans at the stage door for a full-on party with DJ Amber Valentine spinning tunes for the nearly 1,000 fans who tried to get a glimpse of the cast following the show. Festivities continued at an exclusive underground party in the subway station at See No Evil Pizza and Nothing Really Matters.

The upcoming Broadway reimagined revival of Romeo And Juliet starring Heartstopper‘s Kit Connor and West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler has extended its run by four weeks due to strong advance ticket sales.

Directed by Sam Gold and produced by Seaview, the revival, which features music by Grammy winner Jack Antonoff, begins previews at Circle in the Square Theatre on Thursday, September 26, and opens Thursday, October 24, and will now run through Sunday, February 16, 2025.

In announcing the extension, Seaview says the production broke the venue’s on-sale ticket day record when sales began in May. The extension is “due to astonishing advance demand.” Sales figures were not disclosed.

Hopeful ticket-buyers who have signed up on the show’s official website will have early access to tickets for the extension weeks beginning Wednesday, August 28. Tickets for the general public will be on sale beginning Thursday, August 29.

It was just announced that Tommy has been cast in the duel role of The Nurse and Tybalt in the upcoming production of Romeo & Juliet, which is being led by Rachel and Heartstopper actor Kit Connor.

Tony nominee Gabby Beans will play the dual role of Mercutio and The Friar.

Rehearsals for the upcoming Broadway production, directed by Tony winner Sam Gold, have just begun ahead of the first performance on September 26. The production will play a strictly limited 16-week engagement at the Circle in the Square Theatre.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be starting today with this brilliant ensemble. In the play, there are two households, but for us in the room, it really feels like one family,” Sam said in a statement.

The new production features original music by Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh.

SXSW announced on Wednesday that Netflix series 3 Body Problem from Game Of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss is the festival’s opening night TV premiere, while Universal’s action comedy The Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt is the centrepiece screening.

Our first look at the 2024 SXSW Film & TV festival lineup has officially been unveiled, and will open with the highly-anticipated Netflix series “3 Body Problem,” co-created by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, screening Opening Night as a TV premiere. On the film front, David Leitch’s Ryan Gosling-starring actioner “The Fall Guy” is set as the fest’s Centerpiece screening.

The 2024 SXSW Film and TV Festival has announced its lineup, with Netflix’s splashy sci-fi series 3 Body Problem opening the fest and the Ryan Gosling and Emily Bunt action comedy The Fall Guy acting as a centerpiece screening.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss are behind 3 Body Problem, based on the book of the same name. David Leitch directed the Universal feature about a Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who is tasked with tracking down the star of the latest movie he is working on.

The Pamela Adlon movie Babes will also act as a centerpiece screening. The narrative competition features include Crystal Moselle’s latest, The Black Sea, and Barbie Ferreira starrer Bob Trevino Likes It. Elsewhere in the lineup are a Cheech and Chong doc, Tommy Dorfman’s directorial debut, Lilly Singh comedy Doin’ It, and My Dead Friend Zoe, exec produced by NFL star Travis Kelce.

Tommy Dorfman had an apparent incident involving airline employees.

The 31-year-old 13 Reasons Why trans actress accused Delta Air Lines of committing a “human rights violation” and misgendering her in a video.

She uploaded a brief clip of the apparent confrontation to her TikTok over the weekend, showing herself seemingly accusing the staff of misgendering her “multiple times,” alleging one worker did so “intentionally.”

The clip has since been taken down, but has since been circulating on social media.

An employee shown in the since-deleted TikTok then calls her “condescending” and threatens to have her escorted out of the airport.

Dorfman, who starred in Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why,” uploaded a clip of the conflict to her TikTok account just before Christmas. In the video, she accuses at least two Delta staffers of repeatedly misgendering her at check-in, saying that one off-camera employee did so “intentionally.”

According to the caption of the original clip, the incident took place at Laguardia Airport in New York City.

Exclusive: Mariko Tamaki’s graphic novel Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me is getting a live-action feature adaptation, with Tommy Dorfman signed on to direct.

Toronto-based Wildling Pictures and LA’s Mxn Entertainment will co-produce the romantic comedy. Dorfman is attached through her production company Down The Line Productions. Tamaki is writing the screenplay.

Synopsis reads: “Laura Dean is the most popular girl in school and Frederica ‘Freddie’ Riley’s dream girl. She has it all: charm, confidence, and charisma. On Monday night, 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman became the latest actor to shed light on how much they made working on a hit show.

Posting to her Threads, Dorfman, who played Ryan Shaver in the first two seasons of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, revealed what she was paid overall for working on the first season of the teen drama, differing from other actors posting to TikTok and elsewhere who have publicized their residual checks that have numbered in pennies. “My earnings for the entire first season of 13 Reasons Why were $29,953.24 prior to agency and manager fees (20%) and taxes. 8 episodes over six months,” Dorfman wrote.

Chanel hosted the 16th annual Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner at Balthazar on Monday, honoring the artists who have contributed original artwork to the festival’s award-winning filmmakers.
