For years, Lawrence O’Donnell had the tricky job of following Rachel Maddow on MSNBC. Now that task falls to Alex Wagner.
Wagner, an MSNBC veteran who left the NBCUniversal-backed cable-news outlet in 2015 to try her hand at other pursuits, will seize the reins of the network’s all-important 9 p.m. hour four days a week — the first person given the job on a permanent basis since Maddow ceded most of the slot earlier this year.
The new program, which will be named at a later date, will debut on August 16 and air Tuesdays through Fridays. Maddow, who has pulled back from on-air duties to focus on an array of other projects for NBCU, will continue to host “The Rachel Maddow Show” on Mondays at 9 p.m. She is also likely to turn up in MSNBC’s programming at moments of great news import and did so last Friday when the U.

Sippin’ on Globes and juice, Snoop Dogg was the surprise presence at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s early morning Golden Globes announcement on Monday. Entering a subdued Beverly Hilton ballroom, Snoop and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced this year’s nominations a bit like it was business as usual.
But it was clearly not. Many of the TV outlets that normally would have sent camera crews didn’t: No “Entertainment Tonight,” “Access Hollywood” or any of the morning news shows. Among local L.A. stations, only Knbc had a crew in place.
“I’ve covered this event for almost 30 years, and I didn’t quite know what to expect,” said “Inside Edition” chief correspondent Jim Moret. “But this is less than what I expected. Even though the event is streaming, I still expected to see some network coverage, some local news coverage. I suspect that they’re just taking the streaming.

Former Bill Cosby attorney Tom Mesereau has spoken out against the conviction that may send the actor to jail for the rest of his life.
Speaking on Friday’s Inside Edition to Jim Moret, Mesereau called the Cosby verdict “a travesty of justice” and said judges are running scared from the #MeToo movement.
In late April, a Pennsylvania jury found Cosby guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault for the 2004 drugging and sexual assault of Andrea Constand at his home in a Philadelphia suburb. The 80-year old Cosby could get up to 10 years on each count when sentenced in September and is currently out on bail.
Mesereau said he feels Cosby’s trial was biased. “It was a travesty of justice, the likes of which I have never seen in my whole career,” he said. He blamed the #MeToo movement for what happened. “The #MeToo movement is founded in something very,...

According to Las Vegas blackjack dealer Lisa Weiss, who kicked off a racy sexting relationship with Anthony Weiner a month after his wedding, the pervy politician has serious sexual issues!
In an interview with Inside Edition airing Wednesday, anchor Jim Moret asks Weiss, 40, “Do you think the Congressman is a pervert?” Weiss’s response? “I think he has a weird fetish…Something weird is going on…It doesn’t make him a bad politician…Or, a bad Congressman. It makes him a bad husband.”
Weiss says in retrospect she acted in appropriately, as did Weiner, 46. “When I look back, I kind of think he shouldn’t have. But what I did was also wrong…I said things that I am humiliated by.”
Even though Weiss was just as raunchy and graphic in her Facebook messages, she claims she was uncomfortable with the nature of the messages. “I was very shocked at the beginning…...

Heidi Montag's mom is now working as a maid. Darlene Egelhoff, who, together with her husband, owned a restaurant for over two decades, reveals that the recession has forced her to clean other people's houses.
Talking to Inside Edition's Jim Moret, Darlene says that after their restaurant abruptly closed, she needed to find other jobs to pay their bills. The only one she could find in Crested Butte, Co was a maid's post.
But she said she doesn't mind. Even if people will come to her and say they know her, she finds it "humbling" rather than humiliating.
She said, "That's been very humbling for me and I very much appreciate that experience because I don't ever want to get full of myself and think I'm too good to do anything."...

Jesse James allegedly told rumored mistress Michelle "Bombshell" McGee that his marriage to Sandra Bullock was a sham. Her former employers said that the tattooed model told them the former "Monster Garage" host's marriage to the Oscar winner was just for publicity.
Dani Madrano, founder of the dating website SoCal Glamour Girls, said McGee was confident that James wasn't really into Bullock.
She told Inside Edition's Jim Moret, "Michelle told me the very first time I met her she was dating Jesse James… Michelle told me that Jesse said the marriage between himself and Sandra Bullock was a sham and that it was just for PR purposes."
And although surprised at first, Madrano quickly believed her because "if you look at Jesse James' past wife, his ex-wife, she looks a lot more like Michelle 'Bombshelle' than she does Sandra Bullock."...

If you knew you only had one day to live, what would be on your mind?
Dr. Wendy Walsh: We all have bad days. But when that bad day involves suicidal thoughts, psychologists prefer to label it clinical depression. That was exactly what happened to CNN and "Inside Edition" anchor, Jim Moret. Like many of us during the recession, he faced some days of career crisis, financial stress, and personal relationship anxiety that, when bundled together, propelled him to review his own life-insurance policy and determine that he was worth more dead than alive.
The Last Day of My Life begins with that chilling anecdote and then proceeds through a course of review of one life. Jim's story is one of relationships: a child used as a pawn in a Hollywood divorce battle, the loss as a boy of two best friends, and finally, it meanders into human triumph...

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Janet Jackson says she's willing to take over the care of her brother Michael's children. Janet has reportedly bonded with the kids since Jackson. "She has said, 'I'll step forward and I will raise them if this is what they want,'" said Inside Edition's Jim Moret who broke the story. Jackson's children Prince Michael, Paris and "Blanket" are currently living under the care of Michael's mother Katherine at the family compound in Encino. A custodial hearing scheduled for today was postponed late last week. It's not clear if Janet's desire to raise the children is the reason for the delay. Atonement took the top honor at the extremely short Golden Globe Awards, nabbing Best Picture (Drama), but no single film took home more than two awards. The literary adaptation also won the Best Score award as well, while on the Comedy/Musical side, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street was Best Picture (Comedy/Musical), with star Johnny Depp winning his first Globe ever for the title role. Other movies winning two awards were critical favorite No Country for Old Men (screenplay and supporting actor for Javier Bardem) and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (Foreign Language Film and a surprise win for director Julian Schnabel). Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood) and Julie Christie (Away From Her), now officially heavy Oscar favorites, won dramatic lead honors, and Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose) was named Best Actress - Comedy/Musical. Cate Blanchett nabbed Best Supporting Actress for I'm Not There -- which could have been the subtitle of the Globes show -- and other winners included Ratatouille (animated film) and Into the Wild (song).
On the television side, freshman drama Mad Men was the top series winner, taking home the only two awards for which it was nominated -- Dramatic Series and Best Actor (Drama) for star Jon Hamm; the new show with the most nominations, Damages, won only one, for lead actress Glenn Close. The comedy winners were all a bit unexpected, with Extras nabbing the series award, and comedy acting honors going to Tina Fey (30 Rock) and David Duchovny (Californication). Winning three awards -- more than any other television show or film -- was the HBO film Longford, starring Globe winners Jim Broadbent and Samantha Morton. Other winners were also HBO stars - Queen Latifah for Life Support and Jeremy Piven, winning his first Globe for Entourage.
As for the show itself, it was devoid of movie stars, but filled with correspondents from entertainment news shows -- Mary Hart, Giuliana Rancic, and Jim Moret, among others -- who simultaneously saluted the striking writers of the WGA and praised Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Jorge Camara, who presented the final awards of the evening. At around 32 minutes, it was succinct and to the point, but without the stars, the fashion, the high-profile goofs, the speeches, and the champagne, this year's Globes were a shadow of their former incarnations. But Camara promised next year's show would be "bigger and better" than ever before. Hopefully, no one will be on strike then. --Mark Englehart, IMDb staff
