While we’re still several years out from Star Wars returning to the big screen, we’ve got enough Star Wars TV shows to keep us busy. One of those shows is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, described as “a story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. And it’s the story of their journey trying to find their way home.” While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Skeleton Crew co-creator Chris Ford and star Jude Law dropped a few teases about the upcoming Star Wars series
Skeleton Crew creators Chris Ford and Jon Watts wanted to make a Star Wars series that felt like an Amblin movie similar to E.T. or The Goonies. “Skeleton Crew‘s tone is an adventure,” Ford said. “We wanted it to be a lot of fun. But of course, along with...

Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase panel at this year's "Star Wars Celebrations" has revealed more details about Jon Watts and Chris Ford's upcoming live-action series, "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew." Lucasfilm executive producer Dave Filoni and "The Mandalorian" series creator Jon Favreau kicked off this segment by stating that Watts had pitched the idea for the show while Favreau was on the set of "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (!) which led to the creation of the galaxy-spanning adventure of "Skeleton Crew." The upcoming series has been described as "a story about a group of kids ... in the 'Star Wars' galaxy, who have a sense of wonder ... [and] go on an adventure. And star Jude Law is revealed to be a Jedi, as per the exclusive teaser trailer played at the end of the segment.

The upcoming series “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” got its first look out of London’s Star Wars Celebration convention. The series, which focuses on a group of kids and is said to evoke classic Amblin films, stars Jude Law, who introduced his young castmates at the Celebration, including Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith. The first footage from the series was also shown, including shots of the children on speeders, in school, on spaceships and a tease of a familiar villain from “The Mandalorian.” The clip ended with a first look at Law as a Jedi.
The “Star Wars” spinoff was first announced at the 2022 Star Wars Celebration, held in Anaheim, Calif. Details are scarce for the show, other than the following description: “The show takes place during the post–’Return of the Jedi’ reconstruction that follows the fall of the Empire, the same as ‘The Mandalorian,’ but its plot remains a secret.

Jon Favreau is talking about The Mandalorian, the Disney+ series set in the Star Wars universe. With the current third season almost over, the filmmaker is opening up about how long the show could last for.
“I’m having a blast, and I love working with Dave, and I love how the characters develop over time,” he said on EW’s Dagobah Dispatch podcast. “I also love that there are other stories now being told in that same time period, like Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew.“
He later said, “I’ve really enjoyed working with this group of people and I love collaborating with all these different filmmakers and different storytellers, both from the directors we work with, and other showrunners like Dave and, and others like [Skeleton Crew’s] Jon Watts and Chris Ford.”

“Everything, Everywhere All At Once” director Daniel Kwan has addressed reports that he and Daniel Scheinert guest-directed one episode of the “Star Wars” series “Skeleton Crew” at Disney+.
“Don’t worry. We aren’t working on a whole series, we guest directed one episode,” Kwan wrote in an Instagram story. “Jon Watts approached us to do an episode awhile ago. (Before Eeaao even came out). We love Jon, we love Star Wars, we love learning new tech, we love meeting new cast and crew, and we needed the days to keep our healthcare (!!!) so it was an easy yes. We shot it last year and had an incredible time working with the most talented cast and crew and I’m excited for you all to see it.”
“Our next film will be an original daniels project so you can stop worrying (and stop bothering me about it),” he added.

“Mankind has always feared what it doesn’t understand.”
Spoken by Ian McKellen’s Magneto in the first X-Men feature film adaptation in 2000, that pivotal theme has always illuminated a character’s stance in every medium of this particular Marvel universe. In 1992, an approximate version of the line was uttered by Storm (voiced by Iona Morris) in the pilot of the X-Men animated series, which premiered 25 years ago in October.
The Fox series’ influence also included pushing comic book stories into mainstream pop culture, as well as preparing future audiences with a story structure that challenged growing minds. As if pulling this off wasn’t a large enough challenge, X-Men concurrently offered hope and emotional refuge from the adolescent anxieties of its young viewers, which we all know (now) simply turn out to be simply less advanced versions of later adult anxieties.

As we creep along to the midway point of Summer, this can only mean one thing at the multiplex (aside from added matinees): another installment of a big studio franchise (formerly a series) will be occupying several screens. We’ve already had a new Alien, and another Depp pirate pic as the Planet Apes and Transformers wait in the wings, along with that wall-crawling wonder. I suppose we’re due for an animated sequel, but this one’s from the most celebrated studio of the last couple of decades, Pixar. Aside from Toy Story, they avoided follow-ups to their other hit films until 2011 when the Cars gang refueled for Cars 2. Then one of the other hits got a prequel, Monster University, and another spawned last year’s box office smash, Finding Dory. Now here’s the automotive, track-burnin’ “hat trick” as good ole’ number 95, Lightning McQueen roars back...

As we look back at what came before ‘Iron Man,’ we marvel at the miracle that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Earlier this week, the Fsr team brainstormed the plot of Avengers 4 based on the idea that its mysterious subtitle was a potential spoiler for the still unseen Avengers: Infinity War. It was a fun exercise that briefly allowed me to nerd out over a few spandex epics penned by personal favorites, Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman. The resulting conversation spawned some excitement, and a good heap of cynicism as well…or better yet, apathy. How much further can the Marvel Cinematic Universe expand? Will Thanos ever sit up from his chair, and prove he’s the big bad Mad Titan comic book fanboys claim him to be? Next week, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will mark the 15th entry in Marvel’s unprecedented shared universe machine, and by the time we get to Avengers...

To Marvel Entertainment,
Last week I read X-Men Gold #1 and, controversy aside which I won’t be getting into as you have gone above and beyond to address the issue properly and professionally, it really invoked a lot of strong feelings in me. Because of that, I’d like to talk about the X-Men and what they mean to me.
I first discovered X-Men on television when I was in elementary school. I remember watching the first episode and immediately being sucked in. To this day, the Sentinels are still menacing to me and I’ll always have a fondness for Jubilee, Rogue and Storm. I remember the time between Saturday morning after the episode finished to the next Saturday felt like an eternity. I was a shy kid who knew he was queer, but I didn’t understand it. I didn’t have a lot of friends, didn’t...

On your marks, get set go!!!!!!!!! Back at the beginning of January, we reported that Disney Pixar where adding two new characters in the form of Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer) and Cruiz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) to the next instalment of Cars. Lean, mean fast killing machines – well not quite killing but sleeker and faster than Lightning McQueen.
It has now emerged that we have another three newcomers joining Lightning McQueen in the battle of his career and a return vocal performance from Three-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton who lent his voice to Cars 2 as himself.

Over the weekend I noticed my Facebook and Twitter feeds were overrun with new words and phrases. What is a “Pokewalk?” Why were so many people looking for gyms?
As you probably know, the cause was Pokémon Go, a break-out cell phone game that is crashing servers and bringing people together all over the country. This is in addition to a successful roll-out in Australia and New Zealand. In fact, “By July 8, just two days after its launch in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, Pokémon Go was installed on more than 5% of all the Android devices in the U.S., surpassing popular mobile-dating app Tinder, which was running on a little over 2% of all Android devices.”
Get that? Looking for cute little virtual animals is more popular than looking for convenient, no-strings-attached sex.

I will not lie, I grew up a Power Rangers fanatic. Sure, I was not around when the original series was on, but I grew up with Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder, two epic iterations of the series. Last year, it was announced that Lionsgate (known for The Hunger Games series) and Saban (creators of the Power Rangers) would be teaming up to bring a new take on the rangers to the big screen. Following this announcement, we received official word that two of the most talented blockbuster writers had joined the film, and would develop the screenplay. Star Trek producer Roberto Orci also joined the film as a producer, and while many had a problem with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the film was not Orci’s fault, with the star of the film, Andrew Garfield, even calling Orci’s original screenplay “beautiful.” Now, on paper this film seems to...

One of the most frequent complaints that has been lobbed against the PlayStation 4 in the past year or so has been the lack of games, especially exclusives. Last fall in particular it was a visible problem as the rival Xbox One had several well-regarded exclusives hit such as "Sunset Overdrive," "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" and "Forza Horizon 2" on top of the cross-platform Aaa titles that both consoles share.
In early 2015 though the tables have turned to some degree with the imminent release of Ps exclusive titles like "The Order 1886" and "Bloodborne". With Sony now seemingly fighting back, they've done something unexpected - publishing a complete list of all their upcoming 2015 game releases.
Many still don't have specific dates yet, dates which aren't expected to be announced until around the time of the big conventions closer to mid-year, but here's the list as it stands now.

Ya gotta love good ol' Jack Burton (Kurt Russell). Funko has released a line of Pop! collectible figures featuring the characters from John Carpenter’s classic 1986 action comedy Big Trouble in Little China. The characters included in the series are Jack, Gracie Law, the villain Lo Pan, and his three Storm henchmen — Rain, Thunder, and Lightning.
This was one of my favorite movies when I was growing up. I watched it a ridiculous number of times when I was kid. It might be time to show to my own kids and see how they like it!

Our friend Nathan Hunt and his crew at Storm Isle Productions recently ran a Kickstarter
campaign to raise funds for their new game Disciples of the Storm. They recently showed off the new Ice Cannons to me, then to their Facebook community.
Originally his team was working on a continuation of the popular Rts game NetStorm: Islands At War. However, due to licensing issues they had to scrap the original IP and decided to create Disciples of the Storm in its stead.
Dots has all the classic game play of the original game but is based on a whole new planet with its own Wind, Rain and Thunder factions fighting for dominion over their realm. Some of the weapons and temples are a nod to Netstorm thanks to the original artists coming on board to help make this game possible.

Indie developers Storm Isle Productions is nearing completion on their kickstarter and need your help.
Storm Isle Productions, based out of West Virginia, has taken their love of the real time strategy game NetStorm: Islands at War and are working to expand the mythos in their indie game, Disiples of the Storm, working with Netstorm's original talents, Jim Greer, Beverly Garland, and artist Morgan Ogburn.
As of Sunday night they have four days to complete their kickstarter but are lacking a little over half of their $50,000 goal. That's where y'all come in. If you are a fan of the original Rts Netstorm then you will enjoy this game just as much.
Disciples of the Storm (Dots) is a unique, fast-paced, real-time-strategy game which will have some elements of role playing. Dots game play takes place on the world of Sonus, shattered by a continuous war among the Tempests of Rain,...

Dark Souls II's first Dlc is due today, and a new patch has addressed a huge list of issues...
News
The first Dlc for Dark Souls II, Crown of the Sunken King, has probably landed by the time you read this, and accompanying it is a huge update that fixes and tweaks a massive range of features.
You can see the full list below (and it's some list), but highlights include a limit to the amount of souls a player can earn whilst fighting invaders, and the removal of healing abilities during any form of PvP, a common annoyance for those who follow Dark Souls' community created honour system of no healing during a fight.
A good portion of the update deals with balancing, making changes to weapons damage, armour effectiveness, and spells. Some items have been changed too, such as the very handy Gower's Ring of Protection, which has been weakened,...

A kids' book based around a violent post-traumatic stress disorder sufferer, played by Sylvester Stallone? We analyse the Rambo annual...
Feature
John Rambo was first introduced to cinema audiences in 1982’s First Blood, based on David Morrell’s novel of the same name. Sylvester Stallone starred as a Rambo, a mentally scared war veteran, clearly suffering from undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder. His fractured mental state, along with a spate of bad luck, leads him to ultimately commit acts of unacceptable violence.
It is a film with no real heroes, a deep mistrust of authority, and a supporting character who dies of cancer because of extended exposure to Agent Orange. It is not, what you would call, a barrel of laughs.
So of course, they made a kid’s cartoon of it.
This isn’t that unique. R-rated movies being adapted into a Saturday morning cartoon is one of the more...

Marvel has some big changes in store for Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. While their corporate siblings over at Marvel Studios prepare to reunite the Big Three onscreen in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Comics will debut radical new looks for the three most iconic Avengers. It’s all part of a much larger initiative known as Avengers Now!, which will see the debut of new Big Three books and several other new ongoing series.
In November, Superior Iron Man #1 sends Tony Stark to San Francisco with a new outfit and a new perspective on life.

Thor is a superhero who has undergone many changes over the years, whether it’s as drastic as being a frog or allowing the likes of Captain America and Superman to wield his mighty hammer, Mjolnir.
This October, Marvel Comics will make the most drastic alteration to the God of Thunder yet when he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the iconic weapon. This leads to a brand new female hero taking over the mantle, and though fans have some idea of who it could be, the publisher has yet to reveal her identity. Jason Aaron (who writes the current Thor: God of Thunder series) will pen Thor, and joining him will be artist Russell Dauterman.
“The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if He be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription,” says Marvel editor Wil Moss.

Mortal Kombat fans have been excited about the series’ newest installment, Mortal Kombat X, since its trailer was revealed in early June. With its 2015 release date still on the horizon, fans are hungry for any new information regarding the game, which is expected to be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Similar to the classic Mortal Kombat games, the newest incarnation will feature one-on-one fighting with trademark “fatalities,” the fun-to-play finishing moves inflicted upon an opponent about to be defeated. Mortal Kombat X will also feature some upgrades to the series’ traditional features, such as interacting with the environment to bounce off areas or obtain weapons.
As is proper for a Mortal Kombat reboot, many familiar faces are returning. Old favorites like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kenshi are back, and during Evo 2014, Mortal Kombat X developer NetherRealm Studios announced the return of Raiden, who will have three different...

Earlier today, Marvel announced their new Thor comic book which features a female Thor, and it looks and sounds pretty badass. The new God of Thunder series is called Thor, and it was written by Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder, Original Sin), and it includes art from Russell Dauterman (Cyclops). It seems like a lot of people were shocked by the huge change, but being a father of a couple little girls, I'm actually excited about the change. This will definitely help in my attempts to get them to read comic books. I also love the art that was released for it. Below you will find the press release for the new series.
This October, Marvel Comics evolves once again in one of the most shocking and exciting changes ever to shake one of Marvel’s “big three” – Captain American, Iron Man and Thor – Marvel Comics will be introducing an all-newTHOR,...

Nb: there are spoilers ahead for the Civil War comic book series.
First published in 2006, Marvel's Civil War was and remains an enormously popular comic book cross-over series, and it kicks off in dramatic style.
As the New Warriors - a group of young superheroes at the centre of a reality show - seriously screw up a super villain battle, their battle with Nitro incinerates a whole block, including an elementary school, causes 600 casualties, and rips the Marvel Universe in half.
It's cinematic stuff, and these events could act as an outstanding opening sequence in a movie adaptation - it's perfect for the kind of elongated intro that studios seem to love these days.

In comics news this week, it looks like Storm will be getting her own series next year – the reveal came from Marvel’s latest retreat. DC’s Stormwatch could be the next New 52 title to fall – the recent solicits have #28 being the finale of a story arc and the next trade paperback is a whopping 288 pages. The large page count usually means DC want done with a series and put a ton of comics out in one go in a collected edition like this. The title – like so many DC titles these days – has had a rocky time with original series writer Paul Cornell leaving after the first story arc and the series floating around aimlessly before the legendary Jim Starlin came on board to turn the tide. Sales however have been slacking and the future doesn’t look rosy for this Wildstorm team.
