Witches! Unique type. In this show, they don't cast spells/incantations. They mostly sing in specific frequencies to make things happen. They have unique vocal chords that separate them from regular people and allow them to do this. Certain frequencies can sprout life from the ground, move or break the earth, create storms, hails, etc.
They also have other abilities not dependent on their voice box like face changing with a lighter, Tally's ability to see sound frequencies/waves and to see into the past and future, Adil's invisibility ability, Scylla's ability to connect with birds and use them as extensions of herself etc. Also, Raelle's fixing/healing ability is technically using her voice box but not via singing frequencies. She utters sentences that sound like a prayer as she holds the person she's healing.
I have also seen them use invisible sigils? Like, one of the aboriginal leaders made a sign with her finger on the contraption around a witch's neck to break it.
There are witch hunters that steal their voice boxes to mimic their abilities to persecute them.
The show ends differently from other shows where the gifted are persecuted. Through the main characters along with a few others, every human is turned into witches, including the witch hunters! And the 3 main characters become the "ancients" and will be known as goddesses. I wouldn't mind a show entirely about a witch or fairy race of people.

What I love about this show is the academic/research spin. No other show is like this, IMO, even when based in schools. It's usually high school and/or never focuses on any academic aspect. The main character in this show is an academic. It starts with her teaching/sharing her research in a class room of college students (like a visiting professor) and discussing with fellow academics - professors, etc. Even the vampire who becomes her love interest is well read and is a fan of her research. Of course, she finds a magical book while in the library, a book that only appears to her and later becomes her as in, all the info leave the pages and enter her body. Pretty cool show.
I like the magical knots aspects. Basically there are threads all around us and weavers are able to see them and create spells with them.
Another thing I love about this show is that one of the magical abilities that few possess is teleportation and time travel but it is called timewalking. Those with the ability are called time-spinners or timewalkers. Diana used it to hide in the past and escape her enemies and train with the best witches of old in order to return to the present and face her enemies. Pretty cool. I never see time travel in fantasy shows. It's usually sci-fi.
It also involves spell binding where you can take a witch's powers and ability to cast spells. Mainly used on dangerous witches, and in Diana's case, to hide her abilities from dangerous people while she was a child.

The main vampire is able to drain energy/emotions from others including vampires and other supernaturals.
Kai is able to take people's gifts, a blue gas he draws out from their mouths. Reminds me of succubus Bo on Lost Girl feeding off energy.

"Vampires" that are more like worm infested brainless zombies (being controlled by an ancient they call the Master) that are called vampires. Utterly disgusting with worms everywhere, slimy bodily fluids, gross white blood that look like puss, and avalanche vomiting of worms when the master body snatches. Not to mention the giant clawed creature-like phallic thing that shoots out of their mouth in place of a tongue to suck blood.
Surprisingly, I ended up thoroughly enjoying this show even if it was a slow start. The last seasons were lit. I will NOT miss all the nauseating grossness though.

Trolls, humanoid rocks, supposedly make and hold up bridges. Some are just regular rocks but all speak "stone language" which is inaudible to humans. The humanoid rocks/trolls who speak English still speak stone to other rocks.
Tiny dragons are/were trapped in lamps to perpetually give light with their dragon fire.
