Looks Promising
12 October 2018 | by Darkwalker173See all my reviews

I will wait to give a full review after the usual 4 episode test, however I will begin with a review of the first episode since by reading the other reviews, most of them seem to have not even watched the show yet, as some are commenting on characters that aren't even introduced in the first episode, with others simply leaving a one sentence comment that is anything but a review. In other words, Marvel fanboys dismissing it and DC fanboys spewing love unconditionally. As I am a fan of movies and not companies, I will be impartial.

To begin with, the show seems to be continuing with the dark tone that Snyder chose for his movies. People who are supposedly heroes of sorts are killing the "bad guys" left and right. Not all the Titans are introduced in the first episode, and one of them is tacked on as a more or less cameo at the end, and even after the show you don't really have much of a clue as to what really drives them, though Raven seems to be the lynchpin to the story, with most of the focus being on her character. I can't say that much of anything happens, other than getting a couple of them together, though I can say the acting wasn't bad. As for Starfire, I don't care what color the skin the actor portraying her has, as long as she can act. The answer is that Anna Diop can act, however she is stymied by a script that uses such a played out scenario that I simply sighed when I saw it. I would say it's a good start, as I wasn't expecting an Emmy caliber show, as long as the writers can get into the groove and not sink the show, as the actors seem to be doing a good enough job with a so-so script.
