Does Blade Runner: 2049 answer the question about Rick Deckard’s identity once and for all, or is the answer now even more murky than before?
Warning - This article features in depth spoilers for both the original Blade Runner and Blade Runner: 2049. If you have not seen both films, proceed at your own risk!
It’s one of the most discussed questions in science fiction cinema of all time. Rick Deckard, the central character of 1982’s Blade Runner, is employed to hunt down human-like androids called replicants. But could he actually be a replicant himself? The original film doesn’t give a clear answer, which has left the door open for discussion on the topic. Two director’s cuts released over the next two decades added in additional important materials to be taken into consideration, but the mystery remained.

It’s been 10 years since Neveldine/Taylor’s Crank was released. We look back at what might be Jason Statham’s best film...
Whenever we interview anyone for Den of Geek, we try to throw in a curveball of a final question by asking them, “What’s your favourite Jason Statham movie?” Obviously, there are plenty to choose from, but to date, the most common answer is Crank. Simon Pegg loves it. James McAvoy loves it. Rupert Grint loves it. The list goes on, and for good reason: it’s bonkers, and brilliant, and almost completely unique.
The contrivance that kickstarts Crank’s action is a great one: hitman Chev Chelios (The Statham, naturally) has been poisoned by a rival gangster, injected with a synthetic compound that blocks his adrenaline receptors. To stay alive, he’ll need to jack himself up with as many stimulants as possible.

Can you suggest a book that might help someone through a difficult time?
Welcome to our weekly Geeks Vs Loneliness spot, where we try and talk about issues, challenges, nasty things and difficulties that may be affecting you, or people around you. As ever, we never promise a magic wand, but hopefully from time to time we come up with something that may be of some use or support. We hope so, anyway.
Once or twice over the course of us running Geeks Vs Loneliness, we’ve stopped to consider one or two book recommendations. Books, for me personally, have always been a friend in times when I’m not at my best, and often, it’s passages in books, or stories that I’ve enjoyed, that I seek solace in. That, and Jason Statham movies, but let’s focus on the books for now.

A few words about three wonderful writers, and why oversharing shouldn't be sneered at...
Hello and a warm welcome to our Geeks Vs Loneliness spot, a regular bit on the site where we natter about things that may be affecting you, and/or the people around you. As always, we feel honour-bound to declare that we don’t have a magic elixir. Instead, we just want to get conversations started, and hopefully come up with a tip or two that may point you or someone you know in a helpful direction.
A while back, we talked about the book Wonder on the site. The specific article is here, but ever since I’ve written about that, there’s been a trickle of people who’ve let us know they’ve read it, and got as much out of it as I did. That’s lovely to hear,...

2015 is being hyped up as quite possibly the most fanboy-friendly year in the history of cinema, but the video game industry isn’t exactly slouching either, what with next-gen consoles finally getting the truly next-gen (or now, current-gen) titles gamers deserve.
It’s not just movies and video games, but also TV, which will be bringing a number of iconic and beloved series to an end as well as presenting long-awaited new seasons of some modern classics. Then there’s the year’s most iconic wrestling pay-per-views, exciting awards shows and conventions, music, and practically any awesome thing you can shake a stick at!
Though a list like this could probably go 100 strong with all the great movies, games, TV shows and general events due for 2015, here are the 30 big milestones everyone should be the most excited about, sure to make next year one of the most exciting,...

There haven’t been that many fresh images of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy out yet (aside from some promotional cups), but you can expect that to change soon, especially given that promotion for the film will start to ramp up around the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Hasbro is getting a march on the competition though, releasing an image of its official tie-in figures in a Toy Fair poster, online via Yahoo. Guardians, lest we forget follows Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who nicks a powerful object that makes him the target of extra-terrestrial villain Ronan (Lee Pace) To stay alive, Quill has to team up with a band of outsiders, each with their own agenda: the deadly, green-skinned Gamora (Zoe Saldana), hulking Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), undersized but heavily armed Rocket Raccoon, and towering tree creature Groot, voiced (and performance captured by Vin Diesel...

The star looked sensational at the world premiere for the second installment of the ‘Hunger Games’ series, where she braved the rainy night in London in a cutout neon gown by designer Jason Wu.
Effie Trinket may be known for her elaborate costumes, but it was Elizabeth Banks who sizzled on the red carpet at Leicester Square for the Catching Fire world premiere in London on Nov. 11, where the 39-year-old actress totally stood out in her chartreuse Jason Wu ball gown. As if the color of the satin ensemble wasn’t enough to set the look apart, the cutouts on the side of the bodice allowed the star to show some skin in a sexy yet tasteful way — everything about this look was simply premiere perfect!

‘Catching Fire’ fever reached a new high during the London premiere on Nov. 11 and the star of the film itself — Jennifer Lawrence — drummed up even more anticipation by revealing the most emotion scene of the sequel.
Don’t tease us, Katniss! Jennifer Lawrence was out on Nov. 11 (looking amazing, obviously) for the London premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, where she talked about the upcoming sequel and dished about which scenes were the hardest for her to shoot.
Jennifer Lawrence Reveals ‘Catching Fire’ Secrets
It’s no secret that Catching Fire finds Katniss in an even darker place, with the world on the verge of a revolutionary war. Yoko Ono is 80 today, which means she is the same ripe age as the Golden Gate Bridge. To mark the milestone, the Huffington Post asked Ono to share her birthday wish with readers by email. Here it is, undedited:
"To stay alive, healthy and wise, and dance together in peace and love. yoko."
To meet today's celebratory dancing needs, we recommend "Hold Me," the clubby track Ono released earlier this month with producer Dave Audé.
While you bop, a little background on our birthday girl: She was born in Tokyo on February 18, 1933, and went on to make history as the first female philosophy student at Japan's distinguished Gakushūin University. After that, we first knew her as John Lennon's wife, and, later -- when the Beatles broke up supposedly (but probably not) due to her influence -- as one of the most divisive figures in pop music history.

James Cagney, the quintessential movie gangster
Seemingly always en vogue, gangsters have been especially so in recent years. The grand seigneur of American cinema, Martin Scorsese, finally won his long-deserved first Academy Award for Best Achievement in Directing for “The Departed” in 2007. Michael Mann’s 2009 effort “Public Enemies” was a big-budget production with high-dollar stars. The HBO drama “The Sopranos” attracted millions of viewers per week for eight years. “Sopranos” writer Terry Winter teamed up with Scorsese in 2010 for another acclaimed gangster series, “Boardwalk Empire,” which won two Golden Globes earlier this year. Warner Bros., the studio that invented the gangster film, is hoping to get back in the game with a revival of the classic genre.[1] And Scorsese, who made his name with gangster films like “Mean Streets,” “GoodFellas” and “Casino,” will likely return to the genre with mafioso thesps Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino in...

A day in the life of The Doctor. Get up. Have breakfast. Land on an alien planet. Suffer lots of silly "What does it all mean?" questions from assistant. Meet aliens. Get captured. Escape. Save the universe. Go to sleep.
In the case of The Caves Of Androzani, the daily masterplan gets somewhat lost in translation. Even though it starts off as a harmless investigation on the planet of Androzani Minor, The Doctor and his new friend Peri rapidly find that they have only one mission statement: To stay alive.
Inevitably, being a regeneration story, you know what's going to happen. But since The Doctor encounters more scrapes than a paint stripper, the question on everyone's lips is how does he buy it this time? Death by firing squad? Death by shuttle crash? Death by Magma Beast?
In the end though, it can only be Death by Spectrox Toxaemia, after...

The Film:
Today, Guillermo del Toro is considered one of the best storytellers in film. What he does with a mixture of live action and special effects is really ahead of its time. One just has to look at his recent films like Hellboy, it’s sequel and the Oscar nominated Pan’S Labyrinth. Every filmmaker has a beginning, and del Toro’s was 1993′s Cronos. Cronos is an interesting film to say the least. Del Toro has put together one of the most interesting vampire movies to date. In most vampire films you know what you are to expect. A vampire has two long teeth that will suck blood to survive. Here, there are no long teeth. To stay alive the blood of the vampire must be sucked by an insect looking mechanism. It is very hard to take an idea that is as old as a vampire and make it your own.

Jennifer's Body could have, would have and should have been the year's can't miss horror movie. Look at what the film -- out now on DVD and Blu-ray from Fox Home Entertainment -- had going for it: Red-hot stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, the former coming off Transformers (2007) and the latter off Mamma Mia! (2008); screenwriter Diablo Cody, following up her Oscar-winning effort, Juno (2007); and all the buzz in the world, with guys eager to glimpse Fox as a sexy man-eater, girls ready for a female-centric fright flick written, directed by and starring ladies, and more than a few people of both genders intrigued by the promised girl-on-girl kiss between Fox and Seyfried. And then the film came out -- and promptly tanked hard, fast, and embarrassingly. Who's to say why Jennifer's Body (2009) so badly underperformed. Perhaps it was just lousy timing. Maybe people had seen and heard too much of Ms.

Editor's Note: The following interview with comics legend Will Eisner originally ran on Splash Page one year ago on Veteran's Day. While we normally shy away from re-posting stories from the archives, this conversation seemed to merit an exception, and is presented here in full again on the day when we remember the nation's veterans—a group of which Eisner was a member three times over. So, if you first read this interview a year ago, please excuse its return to the front page of the site—but if you're anything like me, you won't mind giving it another read. -Rm
Will Eisner is well known today for creating "The Spirit," his blue-clad superhero that received the Hollywood treatment at the hands of Frank Miller last year. But lesser known is that Eisner was a veteran of no less than three major wars: World War II (where he was an...
