Movies about clones have been around for ages and are easily a fan favorite. Netflix's new movie "They Cloned Tyrone," which hit the streamer on July 21, is no exception.
The film stars Hollywood hotshot John Boyega along with Teyonah Parris and Jamie Foxx. The trio work together to uncover a government cloning conspiracy that sees agents watching the lives of Black people so they can make them vanish and replace them with clones. The movie's twist ending is sure to stick with you long after the credits roll.

History ended in the 1990s, at least according to a famous essay by American political scientist Francis Fukuyama. Under his inflammatory headline, Fukuyama argues that the end of the Cold War and the establishment of the United States as the world’s sole global power pole meant that liberal democracies have become the ultimate form of government. As if to prove the argument correct, the US and the UK entered a period of governmental peace and capitalist expansion.
However, those of us who actually lived through the 90s know that the decade wasn’t nearly as rosy as some predicted (or recall). Against the picture of ascendancy painted by Bill Clinton and, eventually, Tony Blair, pop culture reflected the fragmented state of actual lives, and we ended up with some of the most controversial movies of all time.

"I didn't defy every natural law there is just to lose you again."
Hey, look! Keanu Reeves has made another great looking movie! At least, I think it looks great. The movie is a sci-fi thriller called Replicas, and maybe some of you will form a different opinion after you watch the trailer. I'm just a sucker for Keanu Reeves movies.
The film centers on a neuro-scientist named William Foster (Reeves), who "is on the verge of successfully transferring human consciousness into a computer when his family is tragically killed in a car crash. Desperate to resurrect them, William recruits fellow scientist Ed Whittle (Thomas Middleditch) to help him secretly clone their bodies and create replicas. But he soon faces a 'Sophie’s choice' when it turns out that they can only bring three of the four family members back to life."

Here’s one for the Sad Keanu file: “Replicas,” an upcoming sci-fi thriller in which our man plays a scientist attempting to bring his family members back to life after they die in a car accident. Since such endeavors tend to be incident-free, we’ve no reason to think that this won’t end in a total success and a happy reunion. Watch the trailer, which just debuted at New York Comic-Con, below.

Replicas is the first big deal that’s come out of the Toronto film festival and it’s supposedly such a good film that five offers were on the table after the screening. The deal that was brokered finally was by Entertainment Studios for $4 million to gain the North American rights. This deal is also including a wide release. Keanu Reeves plays the part of William Foster, a neuroscientist that’s been mapping the human brain seeking a way to cure Alzheimer’s. Or that at least is what he believes he’s doing. In truth he’s been recreating the human brain bit by

The Museum of Modern Art announces the discovery of previously unidentified, 101-year-old film footage, the earliest known surviving feature film with a cast of black actors. The unedited daily rushes—multiple "takes" shot each day during production—were found among a trove of 900 negatives from the pioneering Biograph Studio that were acquired by MoMA's founding Film curator, Iris Barry, in 1939, just prior to their scheduled destruction following the closure of Biograph's Bronx facilities. Though a few other movies from that period featuring black casts, such as William Foster's The Pullman Porter (1913) and Hunter C. Haynes's Uncle Remus' First Visit to New...

With November Man out, excitement for Pierce Bosnan’s return to spying is at an all-time high for many James Bond fans. November Man, based on the seventh installment of Bill Granger’s book series called There Are No Spies, is about ex- CIA agent Peter Devereaux (Pierce Bosnan). While living a quiet life in Switzerland, Devereaux is ejected out of retirement for one last mission. Although the concept of the “one last mission/job” is not a new concept for Hollywood, it definitely has its place in cinema history, branching out to a wide range of reasons why our beloved characters are being pulled back into their past lives. From a retiree’s last gig, to the bad-boy-gone-good-and-then-bad-again mission, to the revenge premise, mythology of the ex-professional can surely delight and excite us to champion our heroes for one last fight. Here are scenes from ten incredible “one last job” films,...

We told you last month about the PBS special presentation Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle that would be premiering in October, and tonight’s the night! Tuesday nights are pretty jam-packed for Our Kind of Viewing, but this one looks like it should get some priority.
We have a TV spot and the clip from the first hour to get you primed, and the press release is included again below so you’ll get the full details, including the info on the accompanying book and Blu-ray.
Here’s a quick scheduling note: After the initial broadcast the three hours are broken into three one-hour parts and have slightly different titles, though at least in my area they will still be aired one right after the other. So if you’re thinking of DVR-ing it, check the titles and time carefully so you don’t miss out on any of the three hours.

What better way to celebrate Oscar night than to post about a movie that should have received a bunch of Academy Award nominations and didn’t get a single one. Yes, 1993 was a great year for film, but Joel Schumacher‘s Falling Down had one of the finest performances each from Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall and an exceptional, memorable script from actor Ebbe Roe Smith. It’s a shame this Los Angeles odyssey, which turns 20 years old this Tuesday, wasn’t honored enough then and certainly isn’t talked about enough today. It’s a cinematic rant that would never be released by a major Hollywood studio now (though an indie like Magnolia might, a la God Bless America), and it features an antihero lead with an image that few stars would pull off ever (Douglas’s crew cut was ridiculed enough in the press then — I can only imagine the field day the blogosphere would...

Future Weather
To call Future Weather a ‘coming-of-age’ tale would likely be to make the assumption that the 13 year-old lead, Lauduree (Perla Haney-Jardine) has a Stand By Me moment somewhere around the climax of the film. Though Lauduree has her scene, the folks that come-of-age in Jenny Deller’s debut feature are the adults.
Lauduree is a precocious girl with big, environmental-science aspirations. Her mom Tanya (Marin Ireland) is an aspiring makeup artist, but a bit of a feckless parent. Her grandmother Greta (Amy Madigan) is love-lost, and more of a parent than Tanya seems capable of.
Haney-Jardine handles some difficult material with grown-up poise, and those childlike adults play their roles with equal parts moderation and complete abandonment.
Future Weather is a small film that looks big. Deller and cinematographer Zak Mulligan magically transform suburban Pennsylvania to a beautiful rural wonderland, and Deller’s assured direction makes her work...

To celebrate the upcoming release of the new psychological terror-filled tale Straw Dogs, Dread Central has decided to take a look back at movie characters who, like that film's David Sumner, have been pushed too far.
"How far would you go when pushed to your breaking point?" Over the years some great films have forced audiences to ask that question of themselves, and the chilling Straw Dogs, hitting theaters on September 16th, will do the same.
When we think of a movie character pushed too far, the man who comes immediately to mind is Michael Douglas' William Foster from Falling Down (If the guy would have just given him change for the phone). Douglas is simply brilliant as "D-Fens". His seething anger radiates from the film as he begins to become unraveled one piece at a time until his final bloody demise.
How about Travis Bickle? Perhaps Martin Scorsese's most disturbed character,...

To celebrate the upcoming release of Drive Angry 3D, we look back at cinema’s most dangerous road users, and why you definitely wouldn’t want to get in a car with them…
It's a familiar horror scenario: you're hitching a lift, and against your better judgement, you get in a car with someone you gradually realise isn't entirely stable. Too late, you notice the huge black bin bags on the back seat, and as the driver skitters off down the road as though the forces of hell are at his tyres, you quietly pray that those bin bags aren't full of dismembered body parts.
This actually happened to me about a dozen years ago (I was the hitcher, not the drive), and while I never discovered the contents of those sinister bin bags, I was eventually deposited safely at my destination by the kind, yet terrifying driver.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the latest movie to be brought to us by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and I was very eager for this latest production to be another hit like Pirates of the Caribbean or National Treasure.
Going into a movie with massively high expectations isn’t always a good thing however as the movie has more potential to let you down. Read on to find out what I thought.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is based around the computer game designed back in the late 80’s by Jordan Mechner, a man who wrote the first draft of the movie screen story and executive producer on the movie. It’s helmed by British director, Mike Newell, who has a range of different genres under his belt including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Donnie Brasco and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

So last night FilmShaft were invited along to the world premiere of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time at the Vue Westfield cinema in London. In attendance were the cast of the star studded film, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley and William Foster. Also along for the ride were director Mike Newell, legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer and the creator of the original 1989 videogame, Jordan Mechner.

Last night, HeyUGuys were invited along to Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush, London for the world premiere of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. This is the new Disney / Jerry Bruckheimer movie that is set to blow your socks off! Our review is coming up in the next week along with some interviews with all the main members of the cast.
Prince of Persia is directed by Mike Newell and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Reece Ritchie, Richard Coyle, Sir Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and William Foster as the young Dastan. Pretty much all the cast were there with the exception of Molina and I got to speak to many of them which you can see in this footage. I also got to talk to David Belle, the man who invented Parkour (free running) and he’s also quite a bit of a legend in the parkour community.
