Spoon recently stopped by The Howard Stern Show to perform two songs, their own “Rent I Pay” and a rendition of John Lennon’s 1970 solo track “Isolation.” The musicians brought a rousing feel to the song, which comes off Lennon’s album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, and it’s notably not the first time Spoon have covered the tune.
Spoon played both tracks in support of their recent greatest hits compilation, Everything Hits at Once, a collection that includes both old and new material. “The idea of doing a...

Cage the Elephant and Beck have dropped the retro music video for their collaborative single “Night Running,” a reggae-tinged track off the band’s new LP Social Cues.
The visual, directed by Jennifer Juniper Stratford, stars Cage the Elephant’s Matt Schultz and Beck and uses antiquated video technology and decades-old special effects and to tell a sci-fi story.

Vampire Weekend, Father of the Bride
Father of the Bride (which is out this Friday) is so zealously detailed and meticulously contoured that you easily sink into its inventions: the whirl of country picking, surf-guitar twang and classical interlude in “Harmony Hall”; the loopy hip-hop of “Sunflower” with its creeping-vocal riff; the Soweto-like bounce and AutoTuned-Beach Boys-style chorale in “Flower Moon.” But this is ear candy loaded with trouble. Beck recruited Pharrell Williams for the singer’s new track “Saw Lightning,” the first single off his upcoming new album Hyperspace. Beck and Williams co-wrote and co-produced the track, which melds the jangly acoustic guitar of Beck’s folksier work with the dancefloor-ready programmed beats prominent in his 2017 LP Colors; Williams also contributes, according to the song credits, “drums, keyboards and mumbles” to the track.
“Saw Lightning” also features as part of an upcoming Beats by Dre ad campaign helmed by Atlanta and “This Is America” director Hiro Murai.

For more than five years now, Jay Joyce has lived here on the basement level of a church on a residential street in East Nashville that — in the interim between it being a functioning Southern Baptist church and the acclaimed record producer transforming it into his dream studio — served as a crack den. If one thing is abundantly clear to anyone who’s ever spent time with Dave Grohl, it’s that he’s an even bigger music fan than he is a rock star. Whether talking about his favorite Van Halen album (“Fair Warning”) or getting to play drums as a teenager with Iggy Pop at a record release show in Toronto, he is as animated as he is on stage.
So Grohl and his Foo Fighters bandmates were the perfect people to resurrect Cal Jam, the massive festival held in 1974 and 1978, and last year when Grohl and the Foos flew the flag again, alongside Queens of the Stone Age, Cage the Elephant, Liam Gallagher and many more.
“Talk about bringing the party,” he says of the original festivals. “When I look at that lineup, I think about the musicianship. To see a band as funky as Earth, Wind & Fire, and then...

Anticipation for 2017’s major festivals is at an all time high, with Coachella‘s lineup serving as the holy grail of the entire season. We’ve already heard some rumors about the alleged headliners, while DJ Khaled inadvertently spilled the beans on his slot at the festival. Now we have another enticing update to ponder with a list that attempts to predict the entire lineup.
A website called TravelGrom has consistently made predictions about Coachella lineups in the past with a high degree of accuracy compared to the average rumor, and they’ve just offered up their projections for 2017. While the information is just conjecture at this point, TravelGrom predicted last year’s lineup with 64% accuracy. If that figure holds true again, over half of the list will wind up on the official lineup.
The alleged lineup includes a diverse array of styles, with representation from Edm, Rock, Rap, Pop and everything in between.

The Bonnaroo Music Festival, which runs for four days in Manchester Tenn., recently announced their 2014 lineup.
Headlining the 13th annual Bonnaroo will be Elton John, Kanye West, Jack White, Lionel Richie, Vampire Weekend, The Avett Brothers, Phoenix, Skrillex, Arctic Monkeys, Frank Ocean and The Flaming Lips.
Also heading to the Great Stage Park this summer will be Neutral Milk Hotel, Wiz Khalifa, Cut Copy, The Head and the Heart, Lauryn Hill, Broken Bells, Ice Cube, Slightly Stoopid, Fitz and The Tantrums, Cake, Janelle Monae, Amos Lee and John Butler Trio.
West was a surprise choice for the festival, which hasn’t had the rapper in their lineup since 2008 when he walked onto the stage nearly two hours after his scheduled set time. Though he tried to blame Pearl Jam’s extended set, the crowd united in booing him.

The always epic Bonnaroo — a four-day music and camping festival on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tenn. — boasts some huge names this year. The festival has just confirmed its headliners will be Kanye West, Elton John, Jack White and Lionel Richie. Watch the festival's teaser video and check out the 125 plus artists on the lineup below. The festival’s thirteenth year, which goes down June 12-15, will mark the surprising return of West, whose headlining set in 2008 turned into a disaster when his Glow In The Dark-themed light show didn’t start until after sunrise. Just a day after getting snubbed in the Grammy nominations, Miley Cyrus headed to the Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles to see Cage The Elephant and Grouplove perform. While there, she tweeted photos with the bands, showing off her new bob haircut.
It's a big change for Miley, but one that looks great. Her new hair, coupled with a sweater and jacket, have the "Wrecking Ball" singer looking ready to take on the holiday season. Who knows if it'll stick around, but it was definitely noticeable at the 2013 Jingle Ball concert that she was letting her hair grow out longer than it has been in recent memory.

Cage The Elephant today released the music video for its new hit single "Come A Little Closer." From Miley Cyrus' highly anticipated Bangerz album release to David Bowie's new music, check out what's new in music this week!
1. Miley Cyrus-'Bangerz' (RCA Records)
Tabloid regular and queen of "twerk" Miley Cyrus is gearing up to release her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Bangerz. In the weeks leading up to its release, Cyrus received much criticism for her antics, let alone for her stripped-down video, Wrecking Ball. The music video currently holds a Vevo record, being the fastest music video ever to reach certified status, with over 100 million views in just 6 days. In an effort to shed her former squeaky clean Disney-tween image, Cyrus has gone to the extreme to bare everything, literally.
Bangerz pulls out all the stops with a jam packed group of A-list producers including Mike Will, Pharrell, Future, and will.i.am . Pop legend, and no stranger to headlines, Miss Britney Spears joins her on the track, Ms, with Cyrus...

Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I lived in America. I mean, it’s not all the time but sometimes I wished I lived in America, and generally I wish I didn’t live here, or if I did I could at least freely trek the globe from anywhere to everywhere. Regardless of that though, and to return to my original point, sometimes I wish I lived in America. Sometimes these reasons are music festivals like Coachella and South By South West (SXSW) that stay put and don’t make it to our shores. A festival that has stirred my wanderlust a little bit recently is the Orion Music + More festival line up for 2013. You’ll see why in a moment.
The festival itself is the brainchild of music industry megalomaniac millionaires Metallica, who announced their plans to create their own festival last year, and after that initial debut’s success...

Metallica will host their own festival in America for the second time next summer. The band's Orion Music + More event, previously held in Atlantic City, will move to Detroit in 2013. According to NME, the lineup will be revealed in February, while the festival will be held on June 8 and 9. Metallica headlined last year's two-day event, which featured bands including Arctic Monkeys, Cage The Elephant, The Gaslight Anthem and Avenged Sevenfold. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Metallica's Lars Ulrich (more)...

With so many different horror classifications now in existence and so many different aspects to discuss, guest writer Remy Carreiro and I decided to start a weekly column in which we’ll hack and slash our way through a bevy of terrifying topics. Zombies pound against our door, vampires fly overhead, killers lurk around every dimly lit corner, but we’re here to make sense of it all. Wait, is that Bruce Campbell? Nope, drats. This is it then, Nato and Remy’s Last Stand.
But who are we? Since we’re all about horror, what better way to introduce ourselves than with our own eulogies?!
Remy Carreiro:
Though few people knew he was twelve years old due to one of those weird diseases that makes you look older than you are, most knew that Remy had a real penchant for living life. In his short time here on Earth,...

Quite a prankster than Karl Urban! It seems the actor - who plays Dr. McCoy in Star Trek - enjoys having a bit of fun with fans. First he "let slip" that Benedict Cumberbatch was playing Gary Mitchell in J.J. Abrams Trek sequel (this has since been denied by Robert Orci), then he promised fans that before the week was out we would see some footage from said sequel. Well, in the below vid we do see some set footage from the movie - Abrams and co holding some strange objects which may or may not have some bearing on the plot - but before we get to it at the 3:46 mark, we have 3 minutes of Mr Urban surfing to a Cage The Elephant tune.. Hey, it's something! Any ideas what that is Abrams is holding?...

It's back! MTV's third annual Musical March Madness tips off today (March 12), pitting the 64 bands that matter most against each other in a bracket-battle to the death (Ok, no one actually dies, but we're rolling here). And like in previous years, your votes determine who advances on — and who will ultimately hoist the big gold trophy when the tournament ends April 3.
Can Green Day repeat as Mmm champs? Will perennial powerhouses My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and Paramore finally make it to the top of the mountain? Or will 2012 bring us another unheralded winner, a la Coheed and Cambria in 2010? All of these questions — and more — will be answered in the coming weeks, as the drama and majesty that is Musical March Madness plays out before our very eyes.
