Jodie Kidd has added fuel to speculation that she could be joining Top Gear - by suggesting the new-look show "definitely" needs a female presenter.
The model and car enthusiast has been heavily linked with a role on the BBC series following the high-profile departures of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
On the future of the motoring show, Kidd told the Daily Mail: "Women are buying cars - it's the norm - so you need a woman's angle.
"Because we're different, men and women, and it's great to listen to a car expert who is a woman."
The 36-year-old, who fronts Channel 5's Classic Car Show, previously spoke of her sadness at watching Clarkson on his final episode of Top Gear, but would she be reluctant to have the same level of global public profile as her close friend?

Jodie Kidd has admitted that she was sad during the last Top Gear episode with Jeremy Clarkson.
The BBC show bid farewell to Clarkson on Sunday by airing two final unseen films, which were introduced by Richard Hammond and James May.
"It was sad watching the last Top Gear," she told The Mirror. "Jeremy's a dear friend of mine. I have a lot of time for him."
Kidd added that she admires Clarkson, explaining: "I think he's a complete genius and a brilliant presenter. In person, he's exactly like what you see on TV.
"He's incredibly bright, smart and opinionated, and I admire that immensely."
Kidd is among several names tipped to join Chris Evans in the new Top Gear lineup, alongside the likes of Suzi Perry, Guy Martin and Dermot O'Leary.

Suzi Perry has hinted that she has spoken to Top Gear producers about joining the show.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning today (July 1), the presenter said: "You know what it's like when you work for a channel and you have conversations.
"But we don't know what's going to happen with that show. So until as a broadcaster you know what's going to happen with the show, I don't think you can really think very seriously about it."
However, she admitted that she doubts she would have enough time to film both Top Gear and the BBC's F1 coverage, saying: "I'm away twenty weeks a year doing Formula 1.
"So unless someone has invented 48 hours in a day - which maybe [looking at Phillip Schofield] you have actually! You know, it would be pretty tough I think for me to do it."
When asked if she once turned it down, Perry said: "Well, when they brought it back 10 or 12 years ago,...

The BBC is apparently considering the Have I Got News for You model of different hosts each episode for Top Gear.
Richard Hammond and James May are thought to have been offered new £1 million deals to stay on the show after Jeremy Clarkson's departure earlier this year, according to the Independent.
If the deal were to go ahead, then May and Hammond would be joined by various guest hosts filling in for Clarkson in the next series of Top Gear.
Hammond and May had previously hinted that they were not returning to the show without Clarkson, whose contract was not renewed after he fought a producer.
The trio reunited for the opening night of their Clarkson, Hammond and May Live tour in Belfast last week.
Clarkson told the audience: "We've had a lot of interest in our TV show from all around the world. Who knows what will happen.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have reunited for a brand new YouTube channel.
The former Top Gear trio are currently teasing their upcoming Clarkson, Hammond & May Live tour using the hashtag #BackOnTheRoad.
Top Gear fans can get their first glimpse of what a new show with the trio may look like, complete with YouTube-friendly swear words.
In their first video, Clarkson opens with a very subtle reference to his sacking from the BBC for a scuffle with a producer, while Hammond and May reckon that their new name "will never catch on".
They then get back to their usual japes by loading a van full of multi-coloured vehicles, smashing Captain Slow's piano and being too heavy for a Reliant Robin.
The tour was originally going to be called Top Gear Live, but the stars have been forced to remove all of the BBC's branding.

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have apparently got closer to signing a deal with ITV.
The former Top Gear trio and executive producer Andy Wilman met with ITV's programme chief Peter Fincham on Wednesday night (May 6), according to The Guardian.
After Clarkson's Top Gear contract was not renewed due to his assault on a producer, May and Hammond have declined to sign new BBC deals. Since then, ITV has been named as the most likely UK channel to pick up the trio.
The meeting took place at Fincham's London home, with ITV's director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell also attending.
However, ITV has remained coy in regards to the reports. A spokesman said: "We haven't commented and aren't planning to comment on the continual Top Gear speculation which is swirling around the television industry."

Ofcom has confirmed that it is investigating Top Gear over the use of the word "pikey".
On the show broadcast on February 2, 2014 on BBC Two, the phrase 'Pikey's Peak' was pictured on a placard, considered by the complainant to be a "gratuitous use of derogatory and racist language".
The BBC Trust previously cleared the programme, concluding that context was key and that it did not believe "pikey" had been used as a term of racist or ethnic abuse in the programme.
It added that "pikey" has "evolved into common parlance among a number of people" to mean 'chavvy' or 'cheap'.
"The word, in this instance, was used in a context that had no association with the Gypsy and Traveller communities."
The latest Ofcom Broadcast Bulletin published today has confirmed that the complaint is under investigation.

Paul Hollywood has criticised the BBC's handling of Jeremy Clarkson after he was dismissed from Top Gear in March, saying that "a line has been crossed".
The TV baker revealed that he was "upset" about the controversy surrounding Top Gear, saying that the BBC should have dealt with Clarkson "quietly".
Talking about Clarkson's high-profile exit from the programme, Hollywood said: "I'm a car nut and Top Gear was a favourite, I'm really upset about it.
"It was handled wrongly. It could have been dealt with quietly - whether Jeremy left in the end is almost immaterial," he told the Radio Times.
Asked who he would like to see replace Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond as presenters on the show, Hollywood said: "You can't replace those three guys. Change it, don't mimic it.
"Maybe get (racing driver and former Top Gear presenter) Tiff Needell, or the old Stig Ben Collins back.

If rumours are to be believed, Jodie Kidd, Philip Glenister and Guy Martin could be the next presenters of Top Gear.
According to the Sunday Express, the show's co-creator Andy Wilman was overheard describing the new line-up while having lunch with Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay.
All three stars have relevant experience: former model Kidd presents Channel 5's Classic Cars Show, Life on Mars actor Glenister hosts For the Love of Cars on Channel 4 and Martin is a TV presenter and former motorcycle racing champion.
It could all be pure speculation, but what if this was the new trio? Let us know your thoughts in the poll:

Introducing Freshers. We're properly excited about this new series following new university students - not only with cameras, but by actually tracking their phones, Facebook, Instagram and so on (don't worry, they've given permission - this isn't a scandal waiting to happen). In the clip we saw last night, an 18-year-old was moping about a romance-related scandal, while texts flashed up alongside footage of students.

Photographer Tim Hetherington understood that conflict was not all about dramatic moments. His friend and collaborator Sebastian Junger talks about the new documentary film, Which Way Is the Front Line From Here
• Which Way Is the Front Line from Here? – review
• Tim Hetherington obituary
Early on in Sebastian Junger's film about his late friend, colleague and regular collaborator Tim Hetherington, there is an eerie shot, prosaic yet haunting. The camera pans jerkily across the back seat of a car, as the Bee Gees's How Deep Is Your Love blasts tinnily from the radio, and a caption tells us we are looking at Chris Hondros and Guy Martin. Those familiar with the circumstances of Hetherington's death during an assault on rebel forces in the Libyan city of Misrata in 2011 will be aware that Hondros was killed in the same attack, and Martin severely wounded. Hetherington, it becomes clear, shot this piece of film himself,...

News that Asif Kapadia's brilliant Formula One documentary Senna has somehow failed to make the shortlist for the best documentary category at the forthcoming Oscars should come as no surprise to anyone au fait with the ludicrous irrelevance of the Academy Awards. These are, after all, the same awards that deemed Werner Herzog's epochal Grizzly Man unworthy of a nomination in the same category a few years ago on the most specious of technicalities. The fact that this foolhardy oversight should have occurred in a year in which the UK has produced not one but two fabulously insightful portraits of the need-for-speed industry somehow makes the error all the more laughable. The very best documentaries should not only inform and entertain viewers with a working knowledge of their areas of scrutiny but also engage the interest and emotions of those who know little (and perhaps care even less) about the subjects. Recent homegrown examples include Julien Temple's brilliant Oil City Confidential, which proved a satisfying and thoroughly cinematic experience for non-aficionados of Dr Feelgood's brand of "Thames Delta blues"; and TT3D, which found in Guy Martin a voluble mouthpiece for the madness of the Isle of Man motorbike races that almost every year claim lives.
Equally remarkable is the emotional conjuring trick performed by director Asif Kapadia with Senna (2010, Universal, 12), which delves into the world of Formula One racing, arguably the most elitist, non-inclusive sport in the world. In a crucial and telling moment, the film's eponymous enigma reveals a longing...

Virtually all the movies currently made under the tax benefits provided by the Isle of Man are set elsewhere in Britain or as far away as Washington DC, so it's good to see one actually set there. This lively 3D documentary celebrates, as did the 1936 George Formby comedy No Limit, the annual Tourist Trophy motorcycle races that have been run there since 1907, resulting in 231 deaths and untold injuries.
The speeds on such narrow, winding public roads are hair-raising and superbly photographed, the crashes spectacular and the riders far more likable than anyone involved in Formula One. Particularly engaging is the zanily amusing, leathered lunatic Guy Martin, a Lincolnshire lorry repair mechanic by day.

Likable motormouth Guy Martin makes this motorcycle documentary surprisingly exciting. By Peter Bradshaw
What could have been a pretty dull film just for motorbike fans and devotees of the Isle of Man Tt race, achieves real human interest and excitement due partly to a focus on one competitor: likable motormouth Guy Martin. This extraordinary individual with his penetrating stare and his sideburns seems like a refugee from the 1970s. Like everyone else who competes in the Tt, Martin is passionate and dedicated to motorbike racing – and not too fussed about his own safety. This event is truly terrifying. Racing at such high speeds on ordinary public roads with their right-angles, blind-spots, foliage, jutting-out signposts and phoneboxes etc, is mind-bogglingly dangerous. Riders often get severely injured or killed. What I hadn't grasped before this was that the event has always had a kind of offshore exemption from the prissy mainland rules of health and safety.

Tim Hetherington's final tweet from Libya noted indiscriminate shelling and a lack of Nato support in Misrata. It was a typically risky assignment for him and fellow photographer Chris Hondros, David A. Graham reports. Plus read Hetherington describe how he covered the Afghan War.
The news was vague at first: a French photographer said on Facebook that the two men had been injured, one dead, the other in the hospital in Misrata, Libya. There were conflicting reports, though: no one could confirm it, no one knew for sure whether they were both dead. Around the world, the photography community held its collective breath.

Tim Hetherington, the British photojournalist and documentarian who co-directed last year's Oscar-nominated Restrepo, has been killed in a skirmish between Gaddafi's soldiers and rebels in Misrata, Libya, according to The Associated Press. Hetherington's work photographing the front lines of various global conflicts for Vanity Fair and other publications is monumental, but we report his death on this movie-focused website because of Restrepo, a stunningly intimate and moving documentary about a group of soldiers in Afghanistan. Hetherington and his co-director Sebastian Junger spent a year embedded with a platoon that was part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan, referred to as the "deadliest place on earth."
