In early 2008, MTV News received a pitch from a writer named Rebecca White, who said she was good friends with Debbie Rowe, the mother of Michael Jackson's first two children (Michael Joseph Jr., a.k.a. Prince Michael, and Paris and his wife for more than three years. White said she had been invited to Rowe's horse ranch near Palmdale, California, and that Rowe was interested in doing an on-camera interview.
Obviously, we were interested in making it happen.
So, on April 6, we sent White and a crew to Rowe's ranch. To be honest, we didn't know what we'd find when we got there. Since divorcing from Jackson in 1999, Rowe had retreated to the dusty hills, having granted custody of the

Well, it's official. Shawn Johnson is good at winning things. The 2008 gold and silver Olympic medal winner, along with her partner Mark Ballas, were crowned the winners of "Dancing With the Stars" last night. We guess this means Shawn has to shove those Olympic medals over to the side and make room for her disco-ball trophy.Coming in second in the competition were Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke. In third place were Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani. Gymnast champ Shawn Johnson is also a champ in the ballroom. The Olympic gold medalist narrowly beat actor Gilles Marini as the winner of the eighth season of "Dancing With the Stars."
At 17, Johnson became the youngest contestant ever to join the show. Partnered with professional dancer Mark Ballas, she was handed the disco ball trophy after her thumping the "Sex and the City" actor with just less than 1 percent lead, the closest margin ever in the history of the show.
This is Ballas' second win. He was partnered with another Olympic gold medalist, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, when they were named winners of the sixth season of the show.
It might have been a sweet victory for Johnson, who missed her prom earlier this month, but for Marini, this might just be the most disappointing loss. He and two-time champ partner Cheryl Burke had scored more highest-scores for the week than any other contestant.
