Launched more than thirty years ago, David Lynch’s iconic mystery drama show Twin Peaks had a long and quite unstable television run with the second season potentially wrapping it all up back in 1991 and then coming back again with season 3 in 2017.
However badly the longtime fans of the series wanted to see more of Special Agent Dale Cooper on the screen, Twin Peaks had almost zero chances to be ever revived, but a significant update from the show’s executive producer might turn things into a new direction.
During her latest Q&a online section, David Lynch’s producing partner Sabrina Sutherland was asked whether the director had some ideas stock for Twin Peaks’ potential fourth season. The producer revealed that, though she’s mostly not a part of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s writing team, she’s yet aware of the fact that Lynch had never given up on another season anyway.

David Lynch is one of the biggest creative geniuses of our time. The filmmaker has left us with numerous memorable works such as Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, and Mulholland Drive, but his arguably best and most famous work is the Twin Peaks television series, which became a cult classic of the mystery genre. Some years ago, the series returned with an epic third season which, in Lynch’s usual manner, ended on a cliffhanger. And while the director has said that there are some “calls” for another season, no work has been done.
But, producer Sabrina Sutherland recently had a talk with the guys at Tulpa Forums and has agreed to answer fan questions about Twin Peaks, as well as her other collaborations with Lynch, as she has worked with him on several projects. In this article, we are going to bring you the most interesting details from this exciting Q&a,...

David Lynch hasn’t taken on a feature film or TV project since releasing his groundbreaking “Twin Peaks: The Return” in 2017, but it hasn’t been for lack of trying. First, it was reported back in April that Netflix rejected his pitch for an animated film called “Snootworld.” And now his longtime producer Sabrina Sutherland has shed some light on “Unrecorded Night,” his planned Netflix series that was scrapped during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Loyal Lynch fans will recall that rumors began to circulate in 2020 that the auteur was planning to direct a new series that was developed under the working titles “Wisteria” and “Unrecorded Night.” Many regular Lynch collaborators, including Kyle MacLachlan and Mark Frost, went on to cryptically post images of wisteria flowers on their social media accounts, fueling speculation that Lynch was getting the band back together. Some even speculated that the show would be a Texas-set series...

Rarely does film news engender such outcry as word of Netflix cancelling David Lynch’s animated feature Snootworld––and understandably so––but I’m far more incensed to learn they also canned his series Unrecorded Night. Little was known about it: speculation / conjecture ranged from a Twin Peaks continuation that’s actually called Wisteria (start down this rabbit hole if you want to feel a little insane) to six-or-so feature-length projects in an anthology series. We now may never know, as Sabrina Sutherland told members of the Twin Peaks fan forum Tulpa:
“Unrecorded Night was a non-Twin Peaks series that was going to shoot at Netflix but was cancelled when the pandemic hit. There’s always a chance we can pick it up again, but David has been enjoying his artwork and music endeavors, so we haven’t gone back to it yet.”
A state of affairs made worse by Sutherland’s note that,...

Kyle MacLachlan is remembering his “Twin Peaks” co-star Al Strobel, who passed away at the age of 83 on December 2.
Strobel famously played Phillip Gerard, aka the “one-armed man,” on the series co-created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. Strobel reprised the cult-favorite role for Lynch’s 2017 “Twin Peaks: The Return.” Strobel’s death was announced on Facebook by “Twin Peaks: The Return” producer Sabrina S. Sutherland.
“I am sad to have to post that Al Strobel passed away last night. Veteran actor Al Strobel, best known for playing Phillip Gerard (aka the One-Armed Man) in the original Twin Peaks, its 1992 movie spinoff, and its 2017 revival, has died. He was 83. Strobel’s passing was confirmed by Sabrina Sutherland, the producer who worked alongside Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynch on the 2017 Showtime revival. “I am sad to have to post that Al Strobel passed away last night [December 2]. I loved him dearly,” Sutherland wrote on Facebook. A cause of death has not yet been revealed. Born in Seattle, Washington, in 1939, Strobel lost his left arm in a car accident when he was 17 years old. In Twin Peaks, it was revealed his character Gerard cut off his own arm, which was branded with a “Fire Walk With Me” tattoo, to rid him of the evil spirit, Mike. In addition to his work on Twin Peaks, Strobel also appeared in the 1990 film Megaville alongside fellow...

The many breadcrumbs David Lynch has been dropping about an upcoming major project has now led to some tangible information about what we can expect from the auteur. With it now being three years since his masterful return to Twin Peaks, he’s finally gearing up to shoot a new project.
Way back in February, a Reddit user dropped the rumor that Lynch was developing a project for Netflix with the working title of Wisteria. Said to be either 25 hour-long episodes or 13 mini-movies, it reportedly carried a $85 million budget with 200-day production taking place in Los Angeles. While the pandemic clearly halted any such plans, we’ve been waiting for a more reliable source before reporting, and such news has now arrived.
According to Production Weekly (via Welcome to Twin Peaks), Lynch will begin shooting Wisteria this May at Calvert Studios, returning after shooting some of Twin Peaks: The Return there.

Rumors are swirling around a new David Lynch project in the works, and at Netflix. As observed in industry trade Production Weekly, an untitled David Lynch project with the working title “Wisteria” is set to begin production in May 2021. The publication notes longtime Lynch collaborator Sabrina S. Sutherland as a producer, and that the project will film at Calvert Studios in LA.
Netflix declined a request for comment from IndieWire.
Lynch, who has mostly kept in touch with audiences during quarantine via his “What’s David Up to?” YouTube series, previously hinted that he’d be working on a film or other story right now if it weren’t for lockdown.
“There might be things coming along that would mean less time could be spent on [my YouTube] channel,” he told The Daily Beast back in July.

One of the bright spots to emerge out of the quarantine era has been the David Lynch Theater, a YouTube account run by Lynch’s longtime producer Sabrina S. Sutherland. The video page hosts Lynch’s daily weather reports, plus original quarantine web series like “What Is David Working on Today?,” and it has also become a platform for Lynch to upload old short films and debut new work but she’s planning to “give opportunities that haven’t been there in the past” once a new Lynch project starts up.
If Sutherland is thinking about ways to diversify the crew, does that mean a new Lynch project is on the way? It sounds as if there’s at least an idea kicking around Lynch’s head. Hear the words “Twin Peaks” and a few names immediately come to mind: David Lynch, Mark Frost, Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Cera, etc. Less mentioned is executive producer Sabrina S. Sutherland, a longtime Lynch associate whose presence and input was no less an absolute necessity in the series’ conception, creation, completion, and, now, home-video release. Charting the show’s production — inasmuch as one can get access to what, even after its completion, remains a secretive process — will make clear that, when all’s said and done, she’s perhaps second only to the beloved auteur as an authority.

David Bowie passed away a year and a half before the world got to see new episodes of “Twin Peaks,” but that didn’t mean the iconic musician would be sitting out from the new batch of episodes. Despite David Bowie’s death, fans learned that he did have a little input in how his character would be portrayed in “Twin Peaks: The Return” on Showtime.
Sabrina Sutherland, an executive producer on the revival, participated in a Reddit AMA Sunday evening, answering questions from fans about the new season.
One of these questions had to do with the late popstar and actor, who fans expected to appear in the third season when it was announced. However, Bowie died in Jan. 2016 before Lynch or Showtime could confirm his involvement (the new series was announced in 2014).

in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern,...
