Bachelor star Chris Soules did not attend the funeral of car crash victim Kenneth Mosher in Iowa on Monday.
Last week, the 35-year-old reality star was involved in a rear-ending incident which left 66-year-old tractor driver Mosher dead. After calling 911, Soules allegedly fled the scene, and was later arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatality Motor Vehicle Accident.
Exclusive: Chris Soules Still Well-Liked By Locals Amid Fatal Car Crash
Soules’ lawyers have now asked for his case to be dismissed, claiming he offered “reasonable assistance” to Mosher.
Mosher’s funeral was held at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa, where neighbor and long-time friend Phyllis Lentz estimated around 200 people attended the service.
“The pastor did a very good job,” Lentz told Et. “It was very nice. The family shared their memories of Kenny and it was a very beautiful service.”

Sharon Lawrence has joined Josh Schwartz's comedy pilot for CBS "Hitched." The Schwartz and Matt Miller co-written ensemble centers on a newlywed couple played by Rachel (Kristin Kreuk) and Brett (Jack Carpenter), who deal with their family and friends. Sources report that Lawrence will play Rachel's nosy but well-meaning mother. Lawrence was last seen in "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Community" and "The Mentalist." Other credits including roles in "Monk," "The Line" and "Privileged." Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Lawrence is a veteran whose career spans back to 1992's first role in "Civil Wars" as Norma Helmutz.

The joke about CBS is that it might as well stand for Crimes Being Solved. Every night of the week on the network, bad guys are brought to justice by cops, crime labs, psychics, fake psychics and profilers. Occasionally even the "Ghost Whisperer" helps turn the wheels of justice.
Then again, it's hard to argue with success. CBS is enjoying another solid season in the ratings, and the past few times the network tried going way off-brand with dramas, well, we got "The Ex List," "Viva Laughlin" and "Swingtown" (though the latter, we maintain, was underrated).
So on the drama front this year, you can expect to see more of the same. As for comedies, CBS has become the home for well-crafted multi-camera sitcoms, and it's going almost exclusively with that format in its development this year.
Here's a look at some of the projects that have caught our eye.

Kristin Kreuk, who got her start on the fan favorite and long-running CW show ‘Smallville,’ will be appearing in the CBS comedy pilot ‘Hitched.’ The show, which is being produced by ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘The O.C.’ creator Josh Schwartz, will also star Jack Carpenter of ‘I Love You, Beth Cooper’ fame, AOL Television reported on February 19. In the half-hour multi-camera show, Kreuk and Carpenter will star as newlyweds. They have to juggle married life with the constant interfering of their family and friends after returning from their honeymoon. Also starring in the show is ‘American Pie’ favorite Eugene Levy, who will play Carpenter’s father, a serial divorcee. [...]...

"Smallville" veteran Kristin Kreuk and Jack Carpenter have landed the leads in the CBS romantic-comedy pilot "Hitched." [We're not suggesting this news should cause "Chuck" fans to be a bit less worried about Hannah-and-Chuck, but...] "Hitched" is co-written by Josh Schwartz and Matt Miller and focuses Rachel and Brett Applebaum, who get married after only nine months together and are still figuring out the whole relationship thing. Eugene Levy joined the "Hitched" pilot earlier in the week as the father of the groom, an oft-married lothario. Kreuk has most recently been seen guest starring on "Chuck,"...

All of you Chuck fans that are less than enthralled with Hannah coming between Chuck and Sarah, I have great news for you. Michael Ausiello is reporting that Hannah's portrayer, Kristin Kreuk, has been cast in Hitched, a new CBS sitcom pilot created by Josh Schwartz (not coincidentally, the creator of Chuck). Hitched, which also stars Jack Carpenter and Eugene Levy, centers on a newlywed couple and how they handle their nascent marriage. Should the show be picked up, Ms. Kreuk would then be unavailable to return to Chuck to further interfere with the inevitable pairing of Chuck and Sarah. You Chuck and Sarah (Charah? Shuck?) 'shippers out there will be able to breathe easy.

Chicago – Chris Columbus is not a filmmaker renowned for his use of subtlety. He seems incapable of telling a relatable human story without relying on his trademark brand of sophomoric slapstick. I was surprised that Macaulay Culkin didn’t pop up in Columbus’s “Rent,” and start hurling paint cans at the characters during their “Seasons of Love.” Even at age 51, Columbus is still an unruly child at heart.
That’s why his best films are the ones aimed at children, such as the original “Home Alone” or the first two “Harry Potter” installments. But when he attempts to reach an older audience, the results are often disastrous. And in an era of exceptional adult comedies, “I Love You, Beth Cooper” is a flat-out embarrassment.
Blu-Ray Rating: 1.0/5.0

I Love You, Beth Cooper
Directed by: Chris Columbus
Cast: Paul Rust, Hayden Panettiere, Jack Carpenter, Lauren Storm, Lauren London
Running Time: 1 hr 40 mins
Rating: PG-13
Due Out: November 3, 2009
Plot: A geeky valedictorian (Rust) gets the cojones to tell the most popular girl in school (Panettiere) that he has always loved her. What follows is a night they’ll never forget.
Who’S It For? Enjoying Hayden Panettiere would help when trying to watch this movie. This is the type of high school movie for those who thought John Tucker Must Die deserved a less brutal fate.
Movie:
It is a feat for a film to make its title character so undesirable, but Beth Cooper doesn’t seem to have much difficulty in doing a lot of things wrong. The film is very set on how we should feel about Hayden Panettiere’s character – she’s a goddess on earth,...

Sacha Baron Cohen takes over the box office again, this time with his gay Austrian fame seeker in the mockumentary, Bruno. Taking in about 30 million, despite the overall slightly weakened amount of people flooding down to the theaters, Bruno still caught the eyes of people who took in Borat and loved it just like myself. With what appears to have possibly been in some people’s minds as a fight for first between the teen comedy I Love You, Beth Cooper and Bruno, the second of the two won within the first round.
I Love You, Beth Cooper, starring Hayden Panettiere, Paul Rust, Jack Carpenter and others, did not perform as well as it could have. Only scratching at the surface with 4.9 million, this high school graduation night film did not reach out towards its target audience as well as it could have. Hayden Panettiere that is. The NBC "Heroes" star made another film debut in "I Love You,Beth Cooper",and it really showed us Hayden's crazy side as Denis Cooverman (Paul Rust) professes his love for her in front of his entire graduation class at their ceremony, after he gets advice from his crazy best friend Rich Munsch (Jack Carpenter). He also confessed some other things that offended Beth's crazy boyfriend, a popular high school girl, and a high school bully with a complex who actually ends up crying on Denis' shoulder in the movie. It was hilarious. Beth actually thinks what Denis did was kind of cute ,and ends up giving him and his friend the night of their lives...

Rating: 1.0/5.0 Chicago – In what could be the worst mainstream release of the summer, “I Love You, Beth Cooper” wastes talent, production values and ultimately time in a cliché-ridden mess that produces little or no real love.
What begins as a promising premise – the nerdy high school valedictorian, Denis (played by a dull, smirking Paul Rust), breaks bad at his graduation speech and proclaims his love for unattainable cheerleader Beth Cooper (Hayden Panettiere, who also plays the cheerleader on TV’s “Heroes”) – devolves into humorless story impossibilities.
‘I Love You Beth Cooper’ opens everywhere Friday, July 10th, and stars Paul Rust, Hayden Panettiere, Jack Carpenter and Alan Ruck, directed by Chris Columbus. Check local theaters for showtimes.

Chris Columbus returns to the big screen with a raunchy comedy entitled "I Love You, Beth Cooper," starring Hayden Panettiere, Paul Rust and Jack Carpenter. Story follows a hot chick showing a nerd the night of his life. Here is what some of the Web's critics have to say:
• CinemaBlend's Katey Rich: "Poor 'Beth Cooper', so unloved, so ditched on a weekend when it's sure to be crushed by 'Bruno,' so uninteresting even to the people who created it."
• RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "I haven't been this annoyed at a movie in a long time and the film is so full of flaws pegging something down specifically wasn't easy."
• Collider's Matt Goldberg: "'Beth Cooper' is not a disaster and if nothing else, Paul Rust’s lead performance made it worth my time."
• Kevin Carr at FilmSchoolRejects: "Hayden Panettiere is given a chance to headline a movie, but she’s woefully miscast.

If Head of the Class had a drunken tryst with Saved by the Bell while thinking of John Hughes, then Chris Columbus’ I Love You, Beth Cooper would be its Damien. Unfunny in just about every area, from slapstick shenanigans to cartoonish characterizations, Beth Cooper makes other paint-by-horny teenage comedies seem iconic and fresh (I’m looking at you, Can’t Hardly Wait).
Based on the novel by Larry Doyle which won the Thurber Prize for American Humor in 2008, I Love You, Beth Cooper faces the odd disconnect of “what’s funny on paper sometimes isn’t funny at all on-screen.” Featuring a menagerie of characters that are plucked directly out of Bayside High School, our graduating students of Buffalo Grove High School are about to embark on bettering themselves through higher education, parties and riding in hatchbacks. Denis Cooverman (Paul Rust) is everything you would expect from a well-read fan of science-fiction.

Paul Rust and Hayden Panettiere in I Love You Beth Cooper
Photo: 20th Century Fox I have walked out of only one movie in the six years I have been doing this job, and I Love You Beth Cooper came dangerously close to being number two. However, I am positive if I was a paying customer I would have left the theater and asked for my money back after only 15 minutes or so. This movie is downright awful and it extends beyond the stereotypical teen rom-com set-up, which would hardly be reason enough to complain. This film is an assault on your intelligence and a waste of your time. To think Chris Columbus directed it is an absolute shock, and I don't say this as a die-hard fan of Home Alone or Mrs. Doubtfire, but you would think the director of those two films, plus the first two Harry Potter features wouldn't sink this low.

Emmy winner Beau Bridges has been tapped to star in Lifetime's drama pilot Family Practice.
Meanwhile, Krista Allen is set to co-star opposite Jack Carpenter in Comedy Central's half-hour pilot Held Up.
Practice, from Sony Pictures TV and Lost co-creator Jeffrey Lieber, centers on a South Philly girl who becomes entangled personally and professionally with the affluent, Kennedyesque family members of one of the city's most prestigious law firms.
Bridges will play the family's patriarch, a brilliant, radical, Machiavellian lawyer who once defended the most controversial clients he could find. He is a peerless legal mind but not so successful as a father and a husband.
Bridges won Emmys for his roles in the telefilms The Second Civil War, Without Warning: The James Brady Story and The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom.
He earned his 11th Emmy nomination this year for his guest-starring role on NBC's My Name Is Earl.
Bridges is repped by CAA.
Held Up, also from Sony Pictures TV, centers on Ray (Carpenter), a bored bank teller whose life changes dramatically when two teams of crazy robbers -- disguised as James Bond, Spider-Man, Batman and The Three Stooges -- hold up his branch.
