There once was a moment when playing the villain in a Batman movie was a status symbol in Hollywood. Jack Nicholson famously was paid in the ballpark of $80 to $90 million after his back-end deal to do the original Batman movie of 1989; Jim Carrey was officially marked as an A-lister when he got cast as the Riddler opposite Tommy Lee Jones, who was fresh off his Oscar win for The Fugitive (1993), in Batman Forever (1995); and Pulp Fiction’s Uma Thurman beat out Julia Roberts at the peak of her America’s Sweetheart superstardom to be Poison Ivy to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin (1997).

From The Twilight Zone to The X-Files, viewers have always been drawn to the creepy and scary. Horror and science fiction have long been capable of telling fantastic tales that are eerie parallels to the real world. When these stories feature monsters and ghosts, we can distance ourselves from the tale. But, when the stories are very close to possible realities, they take on even more frightening potential. While many series try to click with audiences, most fall flat, but one series seems to have found the balance of what viewers want out of these types of stories.

Season one of MGM+s’ propulsive horror series “From” wasted no time going straight for the jugular and maintaining intensity throughout. It culminated in a ruthless shattering of hope for its wayward characters just as a bus of new characters arrived. “From” Season Two hits the ground running, picking up where the inaugural season left off to compound the mysteries, drama, and relentless horror.
After receiving a warning just as a storm rolled in out of nowhere to decimate the group’s plans to establish contact with the outside world, Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey) rushes home to save his wife Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno), unaware that she’d already fallen into the gaping sinkhole beneath their house. As Tabitha and Victor (Scott McCord) fearfully navigate the monster-infested tunnels below, Jim seeks to dig her out with some help from others, just as the house caves in on them.

Plot: The series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. In season two, hidden truths about the nature and terrifying origins of the town begin to emerge, even as life for its residents is plunged into chaos by the arrival of mysterious newcomers.
Review: There are few things as entertaining as a great mystery series. When Lost debuted in 2004, every network tried replicating the balance of serial storytelling, mystery box thrills, and cliffhanger endings. The problem many of those series encountered were characters that audiences did not connect to. MGM+ series From, created by John Griffin, benefited from the skills of various cast and crew from Lost to help turn it into a hit when it premiered last year. Now, the second season of the series expands the ensemble and follows the Lost pattern by deepening the town’s mysteries surrounded by supernatural predators...

A couple months ago, we heard that season 2 of the series From would begin airing on MGM+ (formerly known as Epix) on April 23rd. Now a trailer for the new season has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
I haven’t watched the first season of From – our own Alex Maidy has, and said “From definitely is worthy of a multi-season run” (you can read his 7/10 review Here) – so I was surprised to see just how creepy the trailer for season 2 is. A quote in the trailer even confirms the show has creeped out the great Stephen King… so I’m definitely going to have to start watching this series.
Written and created by John Griffin, From is described as a “contemporary sci-fi horror series”. The show aims to unravel the mystery of a nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter.

The father of the atomic bomb will soon be given the Christopher Nolan treatment, with "Oppenheimer" set to continue the working relationship between the director and star, Cillian Murphy. The two have previously worked together on five separate projects, dating all the way back to 2005's "Batman Begins," when Murphy played The Scarecrow opposite Christian Bale as the Dark Knight.
Nolan's first movie in the "Dark Knight" trilogy introduced a new generation to Batman after "Batman & Robin" nearly killed off the franchise altogether back in the '90s. There was so much that made the film a success, from the well-paced origin story to the focus on keeping things grounded while never forgetting that this was a comic-book blockbuster. Bale's portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman went a long way to redefining the character, too. And as you might expect from a director working on his first major blockbuster,...

Harold Perrineau has been a part of two iconic works of television, each showcasing opposite sides of the same spectrum. One is the side of America that fears getting stranded on an island and surviving off merit alone instead of status, the other is the side that fears incarceration due to the system they’ve seen fail and loved ones who they’ve witnessed fall to that fate. Lost and Oz each examined the world in a microcosm and how its inhabitants respond to their respective settings and Perrineu’s From looks to study those same aspects. Created by John Griffin, the series revolves around a nightmarish town in middle America that traps everyone who enters. The unwilling residents of this creepy town strive to stay alive and search for a way out but are tormented by the terrifying nocturnal creatures from the surrounding forest. Epix In addition to Perrineau,...

This article contains spoilers for the From season 1 finale.
Last night, the Epix suspense horror series From starring Harold Perrineau ended its first season with multiple cliffhangers that separated the main characters, and opened up a whole lot of questions about a town cut off from the rest of the world and surrounded by nocturnal vampire-esque creatures. Titled “Oh, the Places We’ll Go,” the tenth episode was reminiscent of a Lost-style finale that expands the web of intrigue (somewhat literally considering those massive spider webs that look like something woven by Tolkien’s Shelob).
And the comparisons to Lost are not without merit. From was created, and executive produced by John Griffin, Jack Bender, and by showrunner Jeff Pinkner, with Anthony and Joe Russo of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as producers.
In the finale, Perrineau’s Sheriff Boyd Stevens continues his quest to go further into the forest beyond the trapped town.

Zoe Saldaña revealed that her stage name could have been very different, thanks to being “discouraged” by her former manager to use her real moniker.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star told Entertainment Weekly’s Bold School that early in her career, she was told to change her name.
“When I did [2000 film] ‘Center Stage,’ I remember being discouraged by my management at that time to use my name,” Saldaña said, before adding, “but their intention was never for me to stop being who I was. They celebrated who I was.”
Saldaña continued, “But my manager at the time was a former singer and a ballroom performer, and she did change her name as well, when she was a teenager back in the ’60s, I believe. And she said it’s what everybody does. That was her doing the best that she wanted for me, but I still knew that I liked my name.

From is here, people. And it's time to get on board.
A sci-fi thriller from the producers of Lost with an insanely deep cast and a very compelling hook. What happens when you enter a town you just can't leave, and the monsters there come out at night?
We were lucky enough to chat with the stars of the series Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Eion Bailey about how their characters fit into this world and what they're hoping the audience connect with in their new show.
My first question for all three of you and starting with Catalina, if you could just describe for us a little bit about the characters you play on From?
Catalina Sandino Moreno: Yes, I play Tabitha Matthews. She is in this event with her family, and she is basically trading one nightmare from another. Before she gets stuck in the town, she's leaving hell.
