Everclear has mapped out a Fall 2024 tour with fellow ’90s rockers Marcy Playground and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack.
The tour arrives in celebration of Everclear’s fourth album, Songs from an American Movie Vol. One, which turns 25 next year. They won’t be playing the album in full — a press release promises that the tour will feature “all the hits” — but they will be spotlighting several of Songs from an American Movie’s tracks that haven’t been played in years. Marcy Playground and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack will open all dates of the tour.

“I want to tell you something about me that you might not know,” began a post by Everclear’s Art Alexakis earlier this week. In the startling statement, Alexakis, 56, announced he had been diagnosed several years ago with multiple sclerosis, but had decided to finally go public with the news.
The daunting disease disables the central nervous system by attacking the coating around its nerve fibers, leading to fatigue, walking issues, vision problems and more. Yet his condition is clearly not slowing Alexakis down. He’s in the final stages...

Art Alexakis has multiple sclerosis. The 56-year-old Everclear singer and guitarist shared the news with his fans in an open letter on the band's website. Alexakis opens the letter by recalling an automobile accident he was involved in three years ago. While he totaled his car, he noted "no one involved was seriously hurt." But when he started "feeling a tingle and numbness" in his arm, he thought he had pinched a nerve in his neck and decided to see a doctor. After having an Mri scan, the doctor confirmed he had, in fact, pinched a nerve. However, the medical professional also found lacerations and "suspicious marks" on the spinal cord. As a result, Alexakis visited a neurologist and...

Everclear's lead singer got into a car wreck ... and he's blaming his Ford's crappy brakes. Art Alexakis tells TMZ he was driving the speed limit (35 mph) in Pasadena last Friday night just before sunset when traffic in front of him started to slow down. Art says he tried punching the brakes on his 2013 Ford Flex but they just didn't bite ... causing him to rear end the car he was trailing. We're told cops and Ems...

For a B-Movie maniac like myself, Dead 7 sounds like a late-night dream. Take some 90s-era boyband icons, throw ’em into a steampunk-y Western dystopia, and record a closing-credits collaboration with lyrically tied-in cheesiness. Backstreet’s back, right?! Wrong.

Mark McGrath may be one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, and it's paid off -- though he's still going out on the road with Sugar Ray as part of the Under the Sun tour kicking off in June, he's also found a second career in front of the cameras. He'll be appearing in "Sharknado 2: The Second One" on July 31 (9:00 p.m. on Syfy). Melinda and I (who could not get "Fly" out of our heads pretty much the entire time, dammit) taked to McGrath about pretty much everything you can imagine, from the last American rock god to freezing with sharks. Oh, and we kind of got him to take off his shirt. Too bad for you this is an audio-only podcast. Getting old is a bitch. When you are a tattooed, pierced and foul-mouthed punk rocker . getting old.s even more of a pain in the ass. These troubles were captured by documentarian Andrea Blaugrund Nevins. 2011 film The Other F Word, which caught up with aging rockers like Blink 182.s Mark Hoppus, The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Flea and Pennywise.s Jim Lindberg as they settle into fatherhood. For those of us who grew up on the catchy beats and jangly guitars of bands like Nofx and Everclear, and are now trying to raise our own kids, F Word was pretty compelling. Jason Segel also hopes that the material can be pretty funny. The Muppets star reportedly is co-writing a comedic pitch riffing on The Other F Word with Drew Pearce, and the duo has sold the pitch to 20th Century Fox, according to THR. What may become a growing trend for source material being turned into studio movies is the documentary genre that's exploded in recent years. Last year, Andrea Blaugrand Nevins' documentary The Other F Word , a look at punk rockers who were now trying to deal with fatherhood while touring, was released by Oscilloscope Pictures. While it didn't get as much attention as other docs, Deadline is now reporting that Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Five-Year Engagement star Jason Segel has taken the doc's central premise and sold a pitch for a comedy he co-wrote with Drew Pearce ( Iron Man 3 ) to Fox with plans to star in said movie. Tagline: "Still waters run deep." Rogue River is the second project that this reviewer has seen from Kejo Productions. The other was a thriller titled Sensored starring Robert Picardo. Sensored was a entertaining outing. Rogue River is less thrilling and more predictable. Even a theme of incest only creates a few unsettling moments. This film, which clocks in at a mere eighty-one minutes, is not really recommended for horrors fans seeking something really frightening. The film follows Mara (Michelle Page) on her journey to bury her father's ashes. She is interrupted by a friendly man, Jon (Bill Moseley). He wants to help her after her car has been stolen. Or, does he want to help himself to Mara when he has her back at an isolated cabin?...

Howie Mandel pulled out all the stops to help Tim apologize to his brother and former bandmate Nick on the latest installment of "Mobbed" (Wed., 9 p.m. Est on Fox.). There was a professional dance crew on hand, as well as rapper Ace Hood, DJ Ravi and even Everclear front man Art Alexakis. The latter was on hand to present Nick with an authentic Gibson Les Paul guitar.
But Nick proved a difficult target, after the hired actor to play a record producer pushed some of his buttons. Musical integrity was clearly pretty important to Nick, as he flipped his lid when the fake producer started presenting his ideas to make Nick's music more "marketable."
"We've made it a rap song," he explained. "And then I've replaced your voice with a rapper."
That was the last straw for Nick. From this point he was livid and started yelling at the producer.

When Roger Daltrey first sang "My Generation" and said he hoped he'd die before he got old, just how old was he talking about? The guys's 67 and not only is he not dead, he's still singing that song. That's the weird thing about rock stars: they get older but their songs -- and their fans -- stay the same age. When Jim Lindberg started the punk band Pennywise, he was 23. Now he's in his mid-40s with a wife and three young daughters. On stage, he's still the same obnoxious guy he was two decades ago, still singing about effing authority. Off stage, his big concern is making sure he's home from touring in time for the big father/daughter dance. Reconciling those two sides of his personality is hard and getting harder.

An absolutely fantastic trailer has just come out from Oscilloscope Laboratories, the rising distribution company set up by Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, for the latest film they’re putting out, The Other F Word.
The documentary is set to be a brilliant look at the new roles that some of punk-rock’s biggest heroes have taken up after wearing that other f word, Fatherhood, like a badge of honour.
“This revealing and touching film asks what happens when a generation’s ultimate anti-authoritarians — punk rockers — become society’s ultimate authorities — dads. Nothing could be creepier than waking up in the middle of night to a partially nude Bill Moseley. The latest trailer for Kejo Production's and Vision Entertainment's Rogue River scares viewers with more than just that, however. Characters Jon (Moseley) and Lea (Lucinda Jenney) terrorize a grief stricken Mara (Michelle Page) morning, noon and night. Lea and Jon remove clothes and wigs to shock audiences and to make Mara wish she had parked her car somewhere else, somewhere much farther away from Oregon's beautiful Rogue River.

Watching Generation X turn 40, facing the consequences of a drop-out lifestyle lies a contradiction. How to you keep your edge while putting food on the table for your family? In your heyday, when it was just you, there were no bills, mortgage, dresses for the father-daughter dance, homeowner association fees, medical bills, etc. There was booze, cheap hotel rooms and rock-n-roll.
The problem with the punk ethos is a fear of selling out – which, having a family may require such a change. If you are going to raise your children in a middle class suburb, you have to tour. And tour these guys do – often spending over 100 nights of the year on the road

Most rock-centric documentaries fall into one of two camps: the hagiographical tributes to artists that frame and justify a performer's failings within the larger picture of his battles for success, and the warts-and-all examinations that tend to use the excesses of said performers as evidence of the inherent vapidity in the field. A good example of the former is pretty much any episode you ever saw of VH1's "Behind the Music," which today airs sporadic episodes profiling chart-toppers like 50 Cent but between 1997 and 2006 would spend 44 minutes running every conceivable artist through the same template of success-excess-redemption. For the producers of the series, drug abuse and infighting were an end in themselves. On the other side of the spectrum, you've got fascinating documentaries like Dig!, a riveting look at the egotistical brawling between the members of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols. The film is utterly engrossing, but...

We all know what the “standard” version of a father figure is supposed to look like, sound like, and do for a living, but what about those kids who preferred getting tattoos and outrageous hairstyles to express themselves? What happens when those punk rock kids grow up? Get married? Start families? When people who are known for stirring the pot and pushing their boundaries suddenly become role models? But as it happens, we all grow up eventually, some of us just happen to do it with tattoos emblazoned across our foreheads. The Other F Word delves into the world of fatherhood with a punk rock twist and does so with such heart and honesty by the end of the film you just see a group of dads, regardless of their outward appearance.

While I claim to be a tomboy and up until the age of 22 or so I couldn't imagine having babies (I was scared to even hold one lest I drop it), lately my ovaries have been crying out every time I see a tiny pair of shoes. Thus, when I saw the synopsis for The Other F Word at SXSW, I knew it was a documentary I Had to see; it's a narrative following various iconic punk rock musicians around as they discuss the responsibilities and life-changing aspects of going from anarchist role models to daddies.
The film is directed and written by Andrea Blaugrund, a strong female who rocked a leather jacket and motorcycle boots at the premiere. She is obviously in love with counterculture, and had been friends with Jim Lindberg of Pennywise for a long time. She was made...

On stage, he's still the same obnoxious guy he was two decade, singing about effing authority. Off stage, his big concern is making sure he's home from touring in time for the big father/daughter dance. Reconciling those two sides of his personality is hard and getting harder.
That's why I liked the documentary "The Other F Word" about Lindberg and a whole generation of punk rockers who have become parents.

There's no secret that the last season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" — which saw Bret Michaels score the victory over a truly excellent field — was one of the most fun shows on television. And it's also no secret that the current iteration of "The Apprentice" (which does not feature any famous people, just a bunch of down-on-their-luck business folk) is not very good at all (ratings have been roundly bad). But according to reports from Entertainment Weekly, a new season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" is just around the corner, and rumor has it that the cast will include La Toya Jackson, former "The View" co-host Star Jones and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" host Mark McGrath.
Even though there could be as many as nine more names added to the roster, fans should already be salivating, as all three of those people are wildly entertaining on TV. McGrath is an especially awesome case,...

Singer/songwriter Art Alexakis is in talks to hit TV as a rock 'n' roll life-coach. The Everclear frontman, who has been the victim of rape and suffered the loss of his brother to a heroin overdose and an ex-girlfriend to suicide, admits his past experiences have made him a good advice giver and now TV executives want to tap into that for a new show.
He tells WENN, "One of the things I wanted to do that people have talked to me about is becoming a life-coach. I've been through a lot of s**t. There's people who are talking to me who are interested in doing a show with me."
"I understand something about celebrities that very few other people do - I know what it feels like to be famous... I know what it's like to live in the fishbowl. Unless you've lived there, you don't know what it's like.

Everclear star Art Alexakis is convinced his late mother speaks to his two-year-old daughter - because the tot is always talking about a woman she never knew. The "Father of Mine" singer's mother passed away four years ago but he feels her presence around his young daughter, Arizona Star.
Alexakis tells WENN, "I think my mother has become a guardian angel to my youngest daughter because she'll talk about Grandma Eleanor and I've never talked about her. I have a picture of her in my office, but she's (daughter) never asked about her."
"Have you ever seen how dogs will look at something that isn't there...? I think my mum is there. It makes me feel better and it makes my wife feel better. My wife was my fiancee at the time when my mum passed away and my mum actually died holding onto Vanessa's hand."

Art Alexakis of Everclear has never been subtle about his political leanings and activism. The outspoken Democrat has testified before Congress, worked the campaign trail and even represented his district’s interest as a delegate at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. In a time of fear of what another 4 years of Gop reign could mean for the country, Alexakis has decided to make a statement - “Jesus Was A Democrat.” With a hard hitting song title and lyrics like, “Jesus Christ was a left wing radical Jew / Murdered by People like you” as well as “And he wouldn’t vote for John McCain” the message is clear, and by no means sugar coated. Everclear has made the song available for free download [...]...
