“The Man From Hope,” the 17-minute film that presented Bill Clinton to the Democratic National Convention, was big news in 1992. Produced by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and Harry Thomason, the couple behind the hit TV series “Designing Women,” the short became the subject of innumerable long articles in major publications.
This year, the filmmakers behind the highest-grossing movies of all time also directed videos featured at the DNC. J.J. Abrams assembled the two-minute preamble to Michelle Obama’s speech, James Cameron contributed a 5-minute piece on the urgency of fighting climate change. Both left the media unrippled: Frankly, there was just too much competition.

It wouldn't be right to start the Democratic National Convention on Monday without a few thoughts from John Oliver on Donald Trump – and last week's fiery Republican National Convention. Of course, Oliver has plenty to say.
After dubbing the Rnc to be the "most apocalyptic thing" to ever happen to Cleveland on Sunday's edition of HBO's Last Week Tonight, the British comedian examined just how grounded in facts the Republican convention speeches were.
Oliver played a clip of former General Hospital star Antonio Sabato, Jr. telling CNN that he "didn't believe" President Barack Obama "is a Christian" and is convinced the president is a Muslim.

No one got eliminated Monday on Dancing with the Stars but there were lots of new - and hazardous! - moves going on under the mirror ball. "Bang Bang" singer Jessie J had the unenviable task of guest judging on a night that involved switch ups among the duos - and not everybody got the partner they deserved. (Tough luck, Michael Waltrip!) Here's how everyone scored: Antonio Sabato Jr and Allison Holker. It was hard for the soap star to keep up with the well-toned pro while doing Bollywood - but hanging above the floor via a cable was a big crowd pleaser!

Here are the best, worst, and weirdest moments from this week's 'DWTS'
This week on Dancing With The Stars, each contestant took a stroll down memory lane to look back at the most important year in their lives to get inspiration for this week's dance.
Some of the songs were emotional, like Bethany Mota's performance that recalled her struggle against cyberbullying and the talented Lea Thompson's tribute to her late father, while others were fun expressions of joy, like Alfonso Ribeiro's adaptation of his famous Fresh Prince dance The Carlton.
Meanwhile, other dances saw Sadie Robertson dressed up like a duck getting 'hunted' by Mark Ballas, decked out in camo and a long, fake, Duck Dynasty beard. Yes, that also happened.

Ufc star Randy Couture couldn’t pack the final punch and was eliminated on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars movie night, while two celebrity competitors received perfect scores. At the top of the show and moments before their opening dance, host Tom Bergeron announced that Couture and partner Karina Smirnoff were in jeopardy of elimination alongside Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker and Antonio Sabato and Cheryl Burke. Couture and Smirnoff’s Paso Doble Rocky enactment was not enough to keep them in the competition. Audiences, along with the judges' scores, released him from the ring. After the low-scoring opening number, viewers were

Dancing with the Stars returned Monday with Movie Night, in which actor Kevin Hart took over Len Goodman’s seat on the judges’ panel. Not only were the celebrities dancing movie-themed dances, but they were on high alert about whether or not they would be the second one going home from last Monday's routines.
Dancing with the Stars Recap
After finding out that they were one of the pairs in jeopardy, Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff took on the season’s first Paso Doble. Going with a Rocky theme, Karina choreographed an intense routine. Unfortunately, Randy’s biggest cheers came when he merely struck a pose – not when he was clumsily attempting to execute the dance moves. Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli found little to like about the performance. Scores: 7+7+6+6=26
Alfonso Riberio, eager to prove he can master ballroom dancing, did a quickstep, which was oddly given an Austin Powers theme.

After two not-exactly-surprising celebrity heave-hos kicked off Season 19 in ho-hum fashion, Week 3 of Dancing With the Stars found our remaining 11 celebs getting high… on Hollywood.
In tonight’s “Movie Night” extravaganza, the ballroom was transformed using classic themes from the silver screen – with very mixed results – and also showcased the delightfully welcome guffaws (if not dancing expertise) of this week’s guest judge, comedian Kevin Hart. (Apparently poor Len Goodman already needs a break from Julianne’s yammering. I kid! I kid!)

Even on a night that saw two perfect scores on Dancing with the Stars, someone still had to leave the ballroom for good.
Sadly, Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff began the night knowing they were in jeopardy. Based on scores from viewers and the judges last week, the duo became the third couple to leave the dance floor.
"It's been a great experience, putting myself out there and trying something new," said Couture.
Besides a roof-raising appearance by guest judge Kevin Hart, lots of other fun surprises happened underneath the mirror ball Monday. Here were the scores:

The celebrities got to pick their tunes on Monday's edition of Dancing with the Stars, so the numbers were as varied as a bikini song samba to a Cyndi Lauper-inspired foxtrot.
Here were the scores:
Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff. It seemed like an awfully big challenge – dancing the cha-cha to "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" – but a uniform-clad Randy appeared to have a ball gyrating his hips to the crazy beat. "What a great way to start the night," said Judge Julianne Hough. "I think we have a new hip action hero," added Bruno Tonioli. Score: 28 out of 40
Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy.

Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars began (somewhat inexplicably) with images of Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of England, a woman who has never thrown her hands in the air (and waved ‘em round like she just don’t care).
