Never underestimate Ice Cube. He's turned four movies — Friday, Barbershop, Are We There Yet?, and Ride Along — into multi-film franchises, and now he's back with a third movie set in the Barbershop universe (actually, it's technically the fourth: Queen Latifah's Beauty Shop was a spin-off set in Atlanta). This time, the movie seems to take on the notion of the violence in Chicago head-on, while also combining the male-dominated barbershop with the female-centric salon to form a central hub for the community's characters to interact.
Starring Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Regina Hall, Common, Sean Patrick Thomas, Eve, Anthony Anderson, Deon Cole, Jaszmine Lewis, Jb Smoove, and Nicki Minaj. Barbershop: The Next Cut arrives in theaters on April 15th, 2016.
It’s been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin’s Barbershop. Calvin (Ice Cube) and his longtime crew, including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer), are still there,...

It’s been almost 12 years since Barbershop 2: Back In Business was released. During this time the pleas for a third instalment to the franchise have been nearly non-existent. But, lo and behold, Barbershop 3 has been in the works, and now we’ve got our very first peek at what the comedy will look like. Barbershop: The Next Cut is almost certainly not going to win the franchise any new fans, but from the look of the returning actors, and the injection of new blood in this trailer, it should easily have enough to placate those who were amused by the original. The Next Cut looks to merge together the first two Barbershop films with the world of the Queen Latifah -ed spin-off, Beauty Shop. Since both Calvin’s Barbershop and the Beauty Shop were struggling, the owners decided to knock down the wall separating them ...

This weekend is shaping up to mirror early fall, when specialty distributors packed theaters with new titles. Many of those disappeared quickly, and this weekend could be similar as companies usher in about a dozen limited-release theatrical newcomers. Focus Features’ The Theory Of Everything, however, has amassed a good amount of attention. Directed by Oscar winner James Marsh (Man On Wire), the Stephen Hawking biopic is opening two months after its Toronto debut. Two notable nonfiction titles also join the fray this weekend: Cinema Guild’s Actress, from director Robert Greene, and Zipporah Films’ National Gallery by nonfiction maverick Frederick Wiseman. Both deserve attention as the awards-race heats up. Two years after the theatrical bow of Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, the 16th U.S. President is the focus of Amplify’s The Better Angels — though it focuses a very different phase of his life. Distrib Films is opening Italian political...

The 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards went off without a hitch earlier this evening (February 22) with "12 Years a Slave" continuing to make waves snagging the biggest prize of the night.
Before her film won Outstanding Motion Picture, the gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o added another piece of hardware to her already impressive collection taking home a trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, while Kerry Washington snagged up her second Image Award with a win for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series. Kerry's show "Scandal" also won Outstanding Drama Series.
In addition, the hilarious Kevin Hart took home Entertainer of the Year, while Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to the late Nelson Mandela with a touching speech and musical dedication.
"He was everything we have all have heard and more. He was humble and he was unscathed by any kind of bitterness after all that we know he's been through," Winfrey said.

Here we are yet again, friends. Taylor Swift has left yet another man in the dust, and this time it's One Direction singer Harry Styles.
Yes, we know, we know, it's not confirmed, but that doesn't mean we can't play along with that "what if?" scenario. The best part of a Taylor Swift breakup is the songs that come after it, which is why the world can never completely hate John Mayer for being the worst celebrity boyfriend ever.
Thanks to the wonder that is Twitter, #HaylorBreakUpSongTitles has been trending all day for the amusement of Directioners and Taylor Swift fans. While we obviously are sympathetic to the heartbreak that comes along with any breakup, no matter how short the relationship, we also like the idea that Swift is somewhere on her computer culling this trend to come up with the name of her next single -- and that Styles is doing the same thing.

The CW's new singing competition show "The Next" crowned its first winner Thursday night (Oct. 4) live from the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Who took home the prize?
After each finalist got a chance to give a final performance -- Michael Ray did "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" by Jake Owen, Iliana did "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by Carole King and Jordan Baird did "So Sick" by Ne-Yo -- country singer Michael Ray was named the winner.
Ray, who was discovered in Orlando and mentored by John Rich, now gets a recording contract from Atlantic Records. Did the right singer win?...

Howard Stern's mother isn't wasting any time. The current season of "America's Got Talent" isn't scheduled to end until next week, but Mama Stern is already planning Sharon Osbourne's replacement. Osbourne famously decided to leave the show, and her association with NBC, earlier this summer. According to Stern on "Late Show," his mother thinks the show should hire Queen Latifah.
Stern, doing an impression of his mother, laid out the conversation for Letterman's audience. "She’s funny, she does movies. And she is terrific on camera. She says many great things," his mother reportedly said.
He explained to her that he has no power over those kinds of decisions, but that if anyone asks, he'd be certain to pass her suggestion along.
There is one potential conflict of interest, though, as Latifah is an executive producer on The CW's singing competition show, "The Next." Besides, according to HollywoodLife,...

Gloria Estefan decided to go undercover to surprise her next contestant on "The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep." In this instance, fame was at Iliana's latest gig posing a a waitress. Estefan slipped in unnoticed by Iliana, who just kept singing.
Estefan stayed in character, even taking drink orders, until Iliana finally realized she was there, and ultimately what that meant. It meant a chance for her to achieve her dreams by joining the performance show against three tough competitors.
But "The Next" doesn't pluck people from obscurity; instead going for people who've built a brand in their local community. So there was a good chance at least a portion of this Chicago audience was familiar with Iliana.
As if to prove she wasn't afraid of anything. Iliana tackled an Adele song. A risk? Maybe, but it won over the audience, and she found herself headed on to the next round of the competition.

Last week featured a duet between mentors Joe Jonas and Gloria Estafan, so it was no surprise that Nelly and John Rich hit the stage together on "The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep." The country and hip-hop mash-up took on "American Woman," and stayed faithful to the original, at the New York performance show.
New York came out with four strong competitors featuring unique styles and plenty of vocal strengths. But in the end, it was 18-year old Ali Brustofski who took away the honor of moving on to the semi-finals.
She had to break her attachment to her microphone stand first, which she was able to do thanks to her mentor Gloria Estafan. Brustofski had some visible nerves during her performance, but there was no denying the strength of her vocals.
Viewers at home were also told that they'd get a chance to save one performer who didn't...

Another week of "The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep" (Thu., 9 p.m. Et on The CW) means four more hopefuls vying for a spot in the next stage of the competition; this time from Baltimore. It also meant more fun trips to the homes of the contestants by celebrity judges/coaches/mentors Joe Jonas, John Rich, Gloria Estefan and Nelly.
Joe Jonas found great chemistry with Jordan Baird, sharing closed-door jam sessions and shorts vs. kins pick-up basketball games. The two even worked out together. All that bro-bonding paid off, as Baird gave a killer performance that had the judges laying down accolades.
Estafan, though, did have one minor quibble. "Actually I think I can do more push-ups, too," she said in response to the video package of Baird.
At the end of the night, it was Baird who took it and he'll move on to the next round.

For the record, I'd much rather see Nick Jonas on the American Idol judges panel than Nicki Minaj. And I ain't sorry about it.
The Jonas Brother confirmed to the Huffington Post that he is in fact in talks to join the show. "[There's been] lots of speculation … it's something I would like to do if it was right, but it's got to be right on both ends," Nick told the site. "It's an ongoing discussion, but as soon as we know if it's right … we'll see."

He goes on to talk about what kind of judge he would be. "I would be the youngest [judge], but I’ve also been a professional musician for about eight years of my life," he said. "That's a major question: Would you be okay to criticize? If I can help someone be better, that's the ultimate goal,...

Plus, Nelly talks about working with Chris Brown and reflects on the timeless-ness of his 2002 hit 'Hot In Heere.' Nelly may have been laying low in recent years, but he's back in the spotlight — in a big way. Not only is he preparing to release his seventh studio album, M.O., but he's also a mentor on The CW's new reality singing competition series The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep. HollywoodLife.com chatted with the St. Lunatic about his new sound, as well as his "dope" (and totally top secret) plans with Joe Jonas — that may or may not involve sparkly boxers. Read on for my full interview with Nelly: Thanks for talking, I know you're really busy. What are you doing on the road now? You know, just doing promotion for the album and the new song with Chris Brown. It's a beautiful thing. How was it working with Chris?...

Joe Jonas, Gloria Estefan, Nelly and John Rich walk into a bar…
No, this isn't the beginning of a joke, although Jonas recognizes it could be.
"I've spent many late nights with those three," said the singer. "After a show we'll go out together and it's funny to see the faces on people. They must think we're the most bizarre group to be hanging out."
But the quartet has a good reason: Jonas, Estefan, Nelly and Rich are the judges/mentors on The Next, a singing competition on The CW that seeks to turn local acts into national favorites.
Each of the first six episodes finds the artists traveling to a different city - Orlando, Baltimore, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles - and working with musicians that have a strong local following.
Each is assigned an act, spends 72 hours with it and then all four compete against each...

With Joe Jonas mentoring on The Next, Nick Jonas rumored to be in the running for an American Idol judges seat and Kevin Jonas starring on an E! reality show, the brothers are once again utterly omnipresent. And that's unlikely to change as the trio announced they'd be getting the band back together for a concert at Radio City Music Hall on October 11!
And if that goes well, a new tour could be in the offing, according to Joe, who chatted with TheInsider.com this morning about their new musical sound and what you can expect from tonight's all-new episode of The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep!
TheInsider.com: The Next doesn't put any of the decision in your hands, did not having to be "the bad guy" play into your decision to do the show?
Joe Jonas: I'll be real, I'm happy that I'm not voting on any of the artists [laughs]. It's a scary...

Joe Jonas aims to please, ladies and gentlemen! The middle Jonas brothers' new reality show The Next debuted last week, and it's safe to say that out of the four celebrity mentors, the pop sensation is a clear favorite. (Sorry, Nelly and Gloria Estefan!) So what happens when fellow mentor John Rich suggests a way for the crowd to get even more excited by Joe? Well, in this exclusive sneak peek from an episode set to air in September, Joe showing off his underwear seems to do the trick! "I mean every time Joe comes up on the scream, every girl is screaming so loud," John says in the clip. "The only that that I can imagine that would make the girls scream any louder for Joe is if you had...
