Scream VII is now moving forward without the previous movie's leads, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, and while plot details are still under wraps, rumors have claimed that the story will revolve around Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courteney Cox) and some new characters defending Sid's family from some kind of Ghostface cult.
There have been conflicting reports about exactly how many masked maniacs will be targetting our returning heroes, but thanks to insider Daniel Richtman, we may have a little more to go on regarding the "younger leads" that are currently being cast.
Apparently, there will be a "big time jump" following the events of the last movie, presumably to allow for Sidney's children to have grown to appropriate slasher movie age. Richtman has also heard that this film will be at least partially set in a new town, and is being developed as the first instalment in a new trilogy.

10. Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing (1987)
Dirty Dancing is one of those movies that actually move people to write “most iconic movie couples” lists; not that we’re speaking from experience, of course. The sheer tension and dynamic between Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey gave an entire generation their idea of the perfect couple energy, and they looked stunning together.
9. Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
The touching and infinitely warm story told by Sleepless in Seattle captivated viewers around the world, but it was the chemistry between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan that really made it so great. The two stars famously have an amazing relationship and worked together on many movies, fueling fans’ hopes; albeit, they were just friends.
8. Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock in Speed (1994)

“You killed my son! And, now, I kill you and I can’t think of anything more rational.”
Compared to traditional slasher fare, there are many things that set the Scream franchise apart: multiple survivors, metatextual commentary, Matthew Lillard, the list goes on and on. But one of the most unique aspects of this beloved string of films is the fact that anyone and everyone could be the killer. With no supernatural elements or sub-human weapon-wielders, only a confirmed kill can eliminate a character from the suspect list. Many charismatic villains have donned the ominous Ghostface mask, but none so complex as the one revealed in Scream 2. Running on vengeance, grief, and motherly love, Mrs. Loomis (Laurie Metcalf) manipulates a psychotic young man and picks up the knife herself in an elaborate plan to seek revenge for the death of her son.

It’s been almost ten years since The Hunger Games’ last installment hit the cinemas, but nobody from the main cast has been left in the shadows ever since.
Though Suzanne Collins’ widely famous franchise is expanding its universe and has recently got a brand new ramification titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the original movies are still a frequent binge-watch choice for many fans craving some nostalgia from the past years.
Back in the day, The Hunger Games was a huge success garnering more than $3 billion in total, and it definitely came as a big moment of fame for the franchise’s leading actors whose careers later on skyrocketed for good.
Years after the movie trilogy came to its end, all of them are still doing pretty good.
Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen)

Power Trip‘s 2019 tour supporting High on Fire was one of their last outings before the tragic passing of frontman Riley Gale.
Heavy Consequence attended one of the final dates on that tour, a late November show in Brooklyn, and got to witness the captivating power Gale possessed onstage. Less than a year later, Gale died at the young age of 34.

During our recent interview with High on Fire, we asked Matt Pike and company what it was like touring with Gale and Power Trip. Not only did they sing the highest of praises, but they also would be more than willing to play some shows with the freshly reunited Power Trip.

A concept for a talk show with horror guests that just makes so much sense! Fresh off of the release of Late Night with the Devil, I'm very excited that David Dastmalchian is continuing his hosting duties in Grave Conversations, a weekly talk show released every Wednesday on Instagram, where the interview is conducted from within their own caskets:
“Grave Conversations” promises viewers an unforgettable journey into the depths of human existence, while Dastmalchian guides his guests through discussions that delve into personal reflections on mortality, legacy, and the afterlife, all while lying down in Titan caskets. Episode one will feature actress Kate Siegel (“The Fall of the House of Usher”) with episode two bringing prolific filmmaker and showrunner Mike Flanagan, and lastly actor Matthew Lillard (“Five Nights at Freddy’s”) joins Dastmalchian for his time, in the casket.

After her contentious departure from the Scream film series, Melissa Barrera, a former star of the franchise, recently shared that she is ready to move on. With her sights set on bigger career goals, the actress considers her departure to have been a minor “hiccup”.
In an interview with Collider, Barrera discussed her goals for the future after her tenure in the Scream franchise late last year. Barrera considers it to be a huge deal, given the numerous challenges he has encountered in the industry this year.

The year was 1985 when Super Mario Bros. took the Nintendo Entertainment System by storm; Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes debuted in newspapers, and two unlikely friends named Marty McFly and Emmett Lathrop Brown piloted cinema’s most iconic time machine to a year when Panama hats and kitten heels were all the rage, 1955.
Fiercely protected at a level akin to Ghostbusters and Star Wars by millennials worldwide, Robert Zemeckis’s Back to the Future sits enthroned at Nostalgia Mountain’s top. The original film has spawned two sequels, a cartoon series, video game adaptations, a Broadway musical, and more. But how does it hold up by today’s standards? Strap on your seatbelt, and prepare yourselves to see some serious shit because this is Back to the Future Revisited.
In 1977, Robert Zemeckis did the unthinkable. He bulldozed into Amblin Entertainment without an appointment, heading straight for Steven Spielberg’s office.

MGM+ just unveiled the first trailer for Hotel Cocaine along with details on new cast and characters. Danny Pino takes on his first series regular role since finishing up Mayans M.C., diving back into the world of illegal drugs after five seasons playing a cartel boss.
The eight-episode crime thriller also stars Michael Chiklis (Winning Time), Mark Feuerstein (Power), Yul Vazquez (Godfather of Harlem), Tania Watson (The Head), Corina Bradley (Star-Crossed Romance), and Laura Gordon (Late Night with the Devil).
“Hotel Cocaine is the story of Roman Compte (Pino), Cuban exile and general manager of the Mutiny Hotel, the glamorous epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of the late ’70s and early ’80s. The Mutiny Hotel was Casablanca on cocaine; a glitzy nightclub, restaurant, and hotel frequented by Florida businessmen and politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars, and musicians,” reads MGM+’s synopsis. “At the center of it all was Compte,...

Another “Scream” franchise Og is getting back on board for “Scream 7.”
Variety reports that Courteney Cox, who has played journalist Gale Weathers in every “Scream” movie, will reprise her role in the upcoming seventh installment. Cox is the only performer to appear in every “Scream” movie, and the only actress to play the same horror movie character in six films, a record she’ll be extending with “Scream 7.”
She’ll be joining Neve Campbell, who is returning to the “Scream” franchise as final girl Sidney Prescott after sitting out “Scream VI” over a pay dispute. “Scream” franchise creator Kevin Williamson is also getting involved again, taking over as director of “Scream 7.” He wrote the first, second, and fourth “Scream” movies and executive-produced the 2022 reboot “Scream” and its sequel “Scream VI.”

Ghostface will return in Scream 7 for Paramount and Spyglass, and Variety reports this week that franchise mainstay Courteney Cox is in talks to return as Gale Weathers.
Cox’s Gale Weathers has been part of the franchise since the very beginning, with Cox starring in every single installment in the franchise to date. While Dewey Riley was killed off in the fifth installment, Gale just keeps on surviving, most recently beating the odds in Scream VI. How many more massacres can Gale manage to survive? Is her number finally coming up?
It was recently announced that Neve Campbell will also return in Scream 7, with Campbell herself revealing that she’ll be back as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming Spyglass sequel.
Additionally, original Scream scribe Kevin Williamson will Direct the film.
Williamson recently wrote on Instagram, “It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, ‘Scream,’ was directed by the legendary Wes Craven.

Settle in, Mother Scratchers! We’re going back to the salad days of Joel and Ethan Coen‘s fabled partnership for the duo’s unconventional comedy about an unlikely courtship, unwanted house guests, a cigar-chomping pale rider, the best deals on furniture in the Southwestern portion of the United States, and baby stealing! Slap your ass, and don’t forget the Huggies because we’re revisiting the Coen Brothers’ 1987 crime comedy Raising Arizona.
The dynamic duo of Joel and Ethan Coen made the Hollywood scene in 1984 with the neo-noir crime drama Blood Simple. Not long ago, we reported that the future is looking a lot brighter for the upcoming Scream 7 movie, with Neve Campbell confirming her return as Sydney Prescott despite pay-related issues with the production, as well as Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original movies, coming to direct the movie. Sure, the previous movie’s stars, including Jenna Ortega, left the project, but it seems that the production is heating up for a bombastic, nostalgia-filled sequel based on the rumors we have.
Namely, industry insider Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK) recently reported rumors that two major stars might be returning for the upcoming sequel, which is more than great if you ask us. The first name is that of Courtney Cox, who is supposedly returning as Gale Weathers for Scream 7. And while this is certainly great news, the return of Cox’s character was more or less expected, so this doesn’t...

As David Newlyn Gale reached his mid-80s, he lived in his own home, but not in the most resplendent conditions. He cohabitated with an untold number of mice in a hoarder’s horror of detritus, a place chocked with tins of food that probably fell off store shelves around World War II.
Gale’s legs were swollen and reddened by eczema, and he could best be described as only semi-ambulatory. Despite the challenges of his circumstances, the former stage actor and teacher took tremendous joy in life, erupting into song or quoting Shakespeare continually. But he could also be a bit of a drama queen – frequently convinced he was nearing his last breath.

Isaac Gale and Ryan Olson’s Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted isn’t the sort of “important” documentary that generally wins awards, but it’s a fine example of something even rarer: a documentary that draws its voice and aesthetic from the spirit of its subject, resulting in a tight 97 minutes that feel organic and satisfying and, as befits that subject, appealingly odd.
When it comes to Swamp Dogg, I’m not sure if there’s a middle ground between “Who?!?” and “Swamp Dogg is the Best!!!” though perhaps Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted will create an appreciative warmth in that space.
Swamp Dogg has acquired his position as a musical cult icon by virtue of an astonishing adjacency to fame that dates back to his first recorded song in 1954. In the subsequent 70 years, he’s been signed to, recorded for, and even been an executive at possibly dozens of labels.

Percy Jackson’s next quest — to get into college — isn’t getting any easier.
After securing his first letter of recommendation in last fall’s Chalice of the Gods, the demigod has a new mission in the seventh book in author Rick Riordan‘s series, titled Wrath of the Triple Goddess. The Hollywood Reporter is revealing the cover art for the book (see it above), which is set to hit shelves in September.
The Wrath of the Triple Goddess continues the story laid out in Chalice of the Gods, with Percy seeking his second of three recommendation letters from Greek gods in order to be admitted to New Rome University. The second one will come from Hecate, the goddess of magic — if Percy can manage to complete her task.
“It takes place around Halloween, which seemed appropriate to me for Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft and wizardry, who is our primary goddess in this volume,...

The concept of time travel, though usually lumped in with science fiction, is actually far closer to fantasy. The notion is rooted in nostalgia, the collective unconscious assumption that there was such a thing as "the good old days." It's also borne out of an interest in history, which as "The Holdovers" so recently and succinctly stated, is really an interest in knowing more about ourselves. While actual time travel will likely never exist, a particular form of it has already existed for over 100 years: cinema.
If poring through film history allows a viewer to ostensibly travel through time, then it only follows that cinema would be a natural tool to examine history and time travel as well. When co-writer and producer Bob Gale hit upon his father's old high school yearbook one day and wondered if he and his father would've been friends (let alone like each other) had...

If you’re a fan of animation, you know the name John Musker, whose four decades at Disney included writing and directing such classics as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Moana. Since retiring from the studio in 2018, he independently pursued an idea for a playful hand-drawn short, which he populated with caricatures of dozens of people from his life, among them fellow animators, CalArts classmates and Disney studios execs.
I’m Hip — shortlisted for an Academy Award — is a charming, music video-like film featuring a cat singing the catchy title song, Dave Frishberg’s 1970s recording of a tune he wrote with Bob Dorough. “[The song’s] very witty, and I always thought that would make for a fun short,” says Musker, 70.
“I have a penchant for teasing people,” he says, and his film “teases people who are so desperate to be on the cutting edge of things. Certainly Los Angeles is full of those people.

Liam Hemsworth is a talented actor with multiple successful projects to his name.
His most well-known role is playing Gale in The Hunger Games. However, he’s had other wins and has even more work in the pipeline.
Interestingly, over the course of his career, at least two of Liam‘s roles were previously given to another actor before he took them over.
The first wound up becoming a breakout blockbuster that set him on the map. We haven’t seen him in the other just yet, but we expect to in the near future.
What were these roles, who did Liam end up replacing and why did the change happen? We pulled all that information together for you!

No matter what they tell you, Christmastime is the best time. It’s the deep breath on the last page of the calendar; the chance to take stock of the year that was and appreciate that we’re halfway through the darkest days of winter, hopefully surrounded by beloved family and friends.
But you know what would make it one better? If it was family, friends, and a fictional character of our choosing each year! Imagine for just one magical evening every December, Doc Brown rolled up in a DeLorean to sample Christmas cookies? Or what if it’s Han Solo or Princess Leia who is asking you to pass the gravy and potatoes? You just know Chewbacca would be all-in on a game of pulling the Christmas crackers. So with that in mind, we asked our staff to think of who they’d like to party with come Christmas Day.

Controversy arose after the family and foundation of late singer Riley Gale issued a statement criticizing the recent surprise Power Trip reunion set featuring the remaining band members. Now Gale’s family and the foundation have issued a new statement clarifying their previous comments.
Gale’s father Brandon wrote the original statement, which laid out a list of grievances against the December 1st performance at the Mohawk in Austin — a show that featured a surprise set of five Power Trip songs by the surviving band members and Scourge/Fugitive vocalist Seth Gilmore. In the original statement, Brandon Gale wrote that neither the foundation or Gale’s family were approached about the reunion or invited to the Mohawk show.
The rather curt language in the statement — coupled with the fact that Gale’s family filed a lawsuit against members of Power Trip in 2021 to gain some control over decisions pertaining to...

Members of Power Trip reunited onstage for the first time since the passing of frontman Riley Gale on Friday (December 1st) at the Mohawk in Austin, Texas. The evening featured a surprise five-song set of Power Trip songs by the remaining members of the band, but the tribute has come under criticism from Gale’s family and the Riley Gale Foundation.
The Mohawk show was billed as headlining concert for Texas thrashers Fugitive, a band featuring Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez and Scourge vocalist Seth Gilmore. The show poster promised a “special guest,” which ended up being the unannounced reunion, with Power Trip members Nick Stewart (guitar), Chris Whetzel (bass), and Chris Ulsh (drums) joining Ibanez and Gilmore (who handled vocals) onstage. Together, they played five Power Trip songs: “Soul Sacrifice,” “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe),” “Hornet’s Nest,” “Manifest Decimation,” and “Crucifixation.”

The surviving members of Power Trip reunited to play their first live gig since the tragic 2020 passing of singer Riley Gale. The surprise show happened on Friday night (December 1st) at the club Mohawk in Austin, Texas.
The advertised concert featured a headlining performance by Fugitive, a band featuring Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez and Scourge vocalist Seth Gilmore. After Fugitive played their initial set, Ibanez and Gilmore remained onstage, and were joined by Power Trip members Nick Stewart (guitar), Chris Whetzel (bass), and Chris Ulsh (drums).
With Gilmore on vocals, they played five Power Trip songs, including “Soul Sacrifice,” “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe),” “Hornet’s Nest,” “Manifest Decimation,” and “Crucifixation.”
The poster for the show had mentioned a “special guest,” but the performance must have been a welcome surprise for anyone in attendance. Footage from the gig shows the fans going absolutely wild during the mini Power Trip set.

The surviving members of the Dallas thrash act Power Trip staged a surprise reunion Friday for the first time since the death of the band’s frontman Riley Gale in August 2020.
Fugitive, led by Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez, was the headliner Friday at Austin’s Mohawk, though a “special guest” was promised on the gig’s flyer. Plot: A year after stopping a masked slasher’s killing spree, a teen girl wishes she had never been born. As a result, she gets a glimpse into a world where she never existed – and the killer is still slashing their way through her hometown.

Now they have teamed up to bring us It’s a Wonderful Knife, a film that follows the current trend of giving slasher movies a high concept twist. Happy Death Day was a time loop slasher, Totally Killer was a time travel slasher, Freaky was a body swap slasher. Joel Kinnaman is sharing his failed attempt at method acting for his role in the upcoming action movie Silent Night.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Wednesday, the For All Mankind actor told host Jimmy Fallon that since he has zero dialogue in the John Woo-directed film, he decided to “go full method on this one” for the first time.
Kinnaman recalled telling his fiancée Kelly Gale, “Listen, this is gonna be a tough one for our relationship. I’m not gonna talk for the whole shoot and not talk with you either. So we’re not gonna have any communication.”
Since Gale was understandably hesitant about the idea, the couple decided to consult their relationship coach to find a way to navigate it all. When Fallon asked Kinnaman if the relationship coach thought it was a good idea, the actor responded laughing, “No.”

[Update: This article has been updated with additional reporting from Variety, a statement from Spyglass, and a statement from Melissa Barrera.]
The fifth installment of the "Scream" franchise was a huge shakeup, with the filmmaking collective known as Radio Silence ("Ready or Not") taking the reins from the legendary Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett had an impossible task ahead of them — marrying the previous four films featuring Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewey Reilly (David Arquette) with a brand new cast of characters now known as the "Core Four," comprised of Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega), Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding).
"Scream VI" was a bit of a reset for the series, with Neve Campbell leaving the franchise because, as she explained, "I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years." With...

Karol G won Album of the Year, Natalia Lafourcade won Record of the Year, Shakira and DJ Bizarrap won Song of the Year, and Joaquina was voted Best New Artist to headline the 24th Latin Grammys, held tonight in Seville, Spain.

Best New Artist past and present nominees united! Colombian rocker Juanes, who won the award back in 2001, performed alongside several of the nominees in the category at the Latin Grammys in Seville.
Armed with his guitar, Juanes ripped through his heartbreaking single “Gris.” The song reflected a moment of marital struggles that he faced while in quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic with his wife and family that they fortunately worked through. Another bright spot to the performance was the team of Best New Artist nominees behind him like a chorus.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes substitutes a songstress for a huntress and the morally compromised, bankrupt scion of a once powerful Capital family for the heroic endeavors of The Hunger Games’ Peeta and Gale. A prequel set decades before Katniss entered the arena, Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is, at its core, an examination of why the Hunger Games exists.
What is the purpose of this gruesome spectacle? Can this annual butchering of children be justified as an effective method of keeping District rebels in check? Is there any moral justification for something as barbaric as pitting innocent children against each other in a fight to the death?

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson were so essential to the success of The Hunger Games, that they are still associated with the roles to this day.
They simply are Katniss Everdeen, Gale Hawthorne and Peeta Mellark.
However, that wasn’t a guarantee. Based on the success of author Suzanne Collins‘ books, the movie adaptations were one of the hottest projects in Hollywood when they were first announced. Everyone wanted to be part of the cast, and a lot of young stars were considered for each role.
Jennifer was cast before Josh and Liam, and reports at the time reveal exactly who was thought to be in the running. For Gale, Liam was one of four actors that were on a shortlist.
Before landing the part, his biggest role was beside Miley Cyrus in The Last Song. Of course, he has since become one of the biggest stars in the industry.

The Mean Machine is getting back on the field… again. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures are developing another remake of The Longest Yard.
The 1974 original was a prison sports comedy starring Burt Reynolds as Paul “Wrecking” Crewe, a former NFL star who is sentenced to 18 months in Citrus State Prison, where he recruits a group of prisoners to play football against the guards. The film included a number of real-life football stars, including Ray Nitschke of the Green Bay Packers. The 2005 remake amped up the comedy and starred Adam Sandler in the role of the wash-up quarterback, who agrees to assemble a prison team in exchange for a reduced sentence. Burt Reynolds appeared in the remake as the team’s coach.

The odds of us volunteering as tributes to see the “Hunger Games” prequel? High. Even though “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” takes place long before the star-crossed love triangle of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorn (Liam Hemsworth), the Lionsgate prequel film has racked up its own set of stars. Ten years after the original adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s trilogy into four films, Panem’s past can finally come to light, along with President Snow’s.
Francis Lawrence, who directed all but the first “Hunger Games” film, returns to helm the prequel installment, which arrives just in time for Thanksgiving. Here’s everything we know about “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”:

Olivia Rodrigo wrote and recorded “Can’t Catch Me Now” for the prequel film. The song was officially confirmed and announced Nov.

Now you Know Christmas has arrived!
Both of the Hallmark networks have fired up the holiday. Countdown to Christmas began in earnest on Hallmark Channel last week, and Ms. Christmas Comes to Town gets the party started at Hmm.
One thing both networks have in common other than movies and Christmas is a steady stream of prolific actress Barbara Niven.
Niven has played mom to so many characters across the Hallmark universe. While they usually have their own story arcs (most notably in Chesapeake Shores), Ms. Christmas Comes to Town allows her to step away from her role as mom.
Well, sort of.
Niven plays Gale, an Hsc shopping channel hostess who has brought the magic of Christmas to customers for over 24 years. That's a lifetime, and the relationships she has formed have brought her and the channel much success.
