The crew of the Wizard were closing out a tough king crab season when they got a weather forecast all fishermen dread. Captain Keith Colburn related the bad news: "They're saying hurricane-force winds and threats to human life."
Over on the Northwestern, deckhand Nick Mavar said, "I'm actually really hating it. I'm hating my life right now. This sucks."
For his part, Captain Scott Campbell, Jr. of the Seabrooke said, "I think that's the most nervous I've ever been running this boat. Ever."
Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that Tuesday night's "Deadliest Catch" episode was the Season 8 finale. The season finale is actually on July 24.
"Deadliest Catch" airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. Et on Discovery.

A fourth-generation fisherman, Capt. Sig Hansen thought he'd spend most of his life at sea, particularly in the Bering Sea off Alaska. Little did he know that fate -- and a little Tuesday-night show called "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery Channel -- would eventually land him at a post-premiere party, right behind one of his favorite athletes.
"David Beckham was in there," he says, calling in from Florida where he's on a "Captains' Tour," with fellow "Deadliest" crab-boat captains Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand. "I was right behind him, but I didn't want to bother him. I was thinking, 'Man, I wish I could just grab him and get a picture,' but I chickened out."
The premiere in question was for Disney/Pixar's new animated movie "Cars 2," released to theaters on June 24. Hansen voices the character of Crabby the Boat, a cartoon version of his own boat, the blue-and-white F/V Northwestern.

Captain Sig Hansen nearly bit it with a rogue 35 foot wave that is shown on tomorrow's Deadliest Catch. Premiering on Discovery Channel Tues., June 21 at 9:00 Pm Et - This season has had unrelenting bad weather. Another punishing winter storm plagues the fleet, as captains and crews fight through injuries and monster waves on Tuesday's all-new Deadliest Catch. As the Time Bandit courts danger at the dock, the Ramblin. Rose makes an all-or-nothing gamble and a Northwestern crewman (Nick the Nose) suffers a bloody blow. At the recent Catch Con before the season, Sig told me about Nick Mavar's injury. "Did you see Nick's nose? [points at Nick's bandaged nose] He caught a picking...

The Bering Sea has always been a character on Deadliest Catch, but last night’s episode took it to another level as we watched it work through the five stages of grief. Unaware of Phil Harris’ final fight, the other captains continued to battle a 1,000 square-mile arctic storm. The Northwestern plowed through 45-ft. waves and 60-mph wind and suddenly looked like a toy in a bathtub. “That’s an angry sea, my friend,” deckhand Nick Mavar, Jr. said. Wind blew in every direction around The Wizard. “We got just this confused sea going on right now,” Capt. Keith said. The...
