BBC recently released new first-look images for Jenna Coleman‘s four-part thriller series The Jetty. Written and created by Cat Jones, the upcoming series will attempt to examine sexual morality, age of consent, grooming, identity, and memory. While the series will be a crime thriller, it is also described as a coming-of-age story.
The Jetty follows the story of Detective Ember Manning as she tries to investigate an arson case in her scenic lake town. She soon discovers a connection between the case and a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons case, and she also comes across an illicit ‘love’ triangle between an adult man and two underage girls. As Embers digs deeper into the case, she discovers some deeply hidden secrets that could destroy her life and how she perceives her hometown.
The Jetty stars Coleman, Ralph Ineson, David Ajala, Nina Barker-Francis, Miya Ocego, Elliot Cowan, Shannon Watson, Arthur Hughes,...

Spoiler Alert: This article discusses the fourth episode of FX’s “Clipped,” “Winning Ugly,” now streaming on Hulu.
Jacki Weaver had always wanted to play Lady Macbeth. In an interview with The Guardian, the celebrated Australian actor shared her wishes to play the role, with the caveat that, being in her 70s, she may have aged out of the part. But now, with FX’s “Clipped,” Weaver gets an opportunity close to it: She plays Shelly Sterling, the wife of a modern-day Macbeth, in the power-obsessed, narcissistic land baron Donald Sterling (Ed O’Neill).
Even so, the actor bristles at the comparison when it’s posed to her.
“I went into this thinking Shelly deserved everything she got — that she was just as bad as he was. … But she’s a bit of a victim in a way,” Weaver says in an interview. “Shelly really did love Donald somewhere deep down,...

The follow-up to 2020’s action comedy, My Spy, My Spy: The Eternal City, reunites Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman in a feel-good family adventure set in some of Europe’s most storied destinations.
When Sophie’s (Coleman) high school choir is selected for an Italian tour culminating in a performance for the Pope in Vatican City, JJ (Bautista) sees this as an opportunity to bond with his new stepdaughter, so he volunteers to help chaperone the group through the Venetian canals, across Florence’s renowned bridges and into Rome’s most historic sites. Instead, he finds that he and Sophie have become unwitting pawns in a terrorist plot that could end the world as we know it.
Directed by Pete Segal and featuring returning stars Ken Jeong and Kristen Schaal, who are joined by Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg, My Spy: The Eternal City will premiere globally on Amazon Prime on July 18th.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys season 4 episodes 1, 2, and 3.
Through its first three seasons, Amazon Prime Video‘s superhero satire The Boys has drifted further and further from its comic book origins. While the series continues to borrow characters from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s long-running comic, those characters often end up changing significantly in adaptation.
Season 3’s Soldier Boy was not a cowardly Captain America pastiche but a powerful super-fascist from America’s golden age. Gen V‘s Tek Knight isn’t a Tony Stark-esque metal man, but a true crime streaming host with the ability to sniff out lies. Now, in season 4, The Boys has introduced two major characters who are completely original to the show with no obvious comic analogues: Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry).

The Boys Season 4, episode 2, was largely centered around the unraveling of the titular group at the Truthcon festival. Mm and Butcher fell out because of the latter’s erratic behavior, which was a side effect of the worms crawling in his head thanks to his overuse of the Temp V. But when Mm, Kimiko, and Frenchie were overwhelmed by Splinter and Firecracker, Butcher ended up saving them. Was it enough to get him into Mm’s good books? No, and Butcher was forced to leave the team and go on his solo mission of saving Ryan from the clutches of Homelander. Talking about Homelander, he scarred Ryan for life by making him kill a guy who was just doing his job of making Ryan look cool, and then he reprimanded Ryan for not being okay with a “few broken eggs.” The third episode of The Boys Season 4 is about the rivalry between Firecracker and Annie.

Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman are back in My Spy: The Eternal City, and here’s the trailer for the film.
My Spy was a fun family comedy that landed on Amazon Prime in 2020 after being delayed by the events of that year. It also made the cover of one of our junior magazines too. It was the third most watched streaming film of the year after Hamilton on Disney+ and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm on Prime Video.
Following in the footsteps of similar ‘tough guy action star does a family comedy’ – a surprisingly crowded subgenre with the likes of Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, Jackie Chan in The Spy Next Door and Hulk Hogan in Mr Nanny – My Spy followed Dave Bautista as CIA operative JJ, who is assigned to keep watch on a family and is soon discovered by their precocious nine year old daughter, Sophie, played by Chloe Coleman.

Dave Bautista tried his hand at the family comedy sub-genre where tough guys take care of children in the 2020 film My Spy. That film joined the likes of Kindergarten Cop, The Nanny, The Pacifier, The Game Plan and The Chaperone. My Spy would become Prime Video’s third most-watched streaming title of 2020, so a sequel would definitely be in the books. Wait no further as Amazon MGM releases the trailer for My Spy The Eternal City (the title does not include a colon punctuation). The film is set to hit home screens on July 18.

Olivia Coleman plays a guitar-wielding nun in our first look at the third Paddington film. Check out the Paddington In Peru trailer below:
If you didn’t have “Olivia Coleman does The Sound Of Music” on your Paddington In Peru bingo card, have you even been paying attention?
Paul King’s first two installments owed a lot to the London-based Mary Poppins, so it only makes sense that the franchise’s first extended trip outside an urban metropolis would owe a debt to another 60s musical classic.
The already stacked cast from the first two is swelled by newcomers Olivia Coleman and Antonio Banderas alongside Emily Mortimer, who’s taking over Sally Hawkins’ role of Mrs Brown. The plot sees Paddington and the Browns taking a trip to (hold onto your hats) Peru to visit Imelda Staunton’s Aunt Lucy – a journey which apparently takes an unexpected detour through a...

The strongest viewership of Netflix’s Bridgerton proved people still rave about period titles and, in particular, intricate stories, set in the 18-19th centuries. Besides, before the success of this series, we saw such gems of the 2010s, as Mia Wasikowska’s Jane Eyre (2011), Nicole Kidman’s The Beguiled (2017) and Saoirse Ronan’s Little Women (2019).
However, there is a female-led period movie that stands out among all of them. Back in 2018, it amazed the audience by its perfect mix of black comedy elements, deep drama, impeccable acting performances and quite an authentic atmosphere and tone.
Set in the early 18th century during the long war of England against France, the movie starts by introducing us to Queen Anne, who is in poor health and isn’t interested in governing at all. The one who is really into it is Sarah Churchill, her advisor and lover.

‘Clipped’ Review: FX’s American Basketball Story Is a Salacious, Shrewd Account of NBA Racial Strife
![Image](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BODUwNjNkZTItYTY2Yy00Y2MxLWI1MDQtMDE3NTE0MDU3YzBkXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTE0MzQwMjgz._V1_QL75_UX500_CR0,26,500,281_.jpg)
Initially, “Clipped” seems content to recap the embarrassing and abhorrent factoids that make up Donald Sterling’s tenure as the owner of the L.A. Clippers. When legendary coach Doc Rivers (played by Laurence Fishburne) initially arrives in Los Angeles — eager to start laying the foundation for the organization’s first NBA title — the team forgets to pick him up from Lax. Ok, no problem, he’s happy to order his own Uber. But then Sterling tries to block Doc’s big free agent acquisition because J.J. Reddick, it turns out, is white. Similarly troubling and peculiar events pile up as the story bounces from the shrewd coach to Donald’s wife and co-owner of the Clippers, Shelly Sterling (Jacki Weaver), to a perplexing female employee who goes simply by V. (Cleopatra Coleman).
But like V. herself — and, really, like each of “Clipped’s” main characters outside of the purposefully oafish,...

While many might still say HBO is the best American network for prestige television, FX has forcefully inserted itself into the conversation in the last few years. From the rabid animal that is The Bear to the densely historical Shōgun, the channel commands respect just by placing its name in front of a series. Knowing how incredible FX’s track record in the 2020s is, it came as a pleasant surprise when it was announced the network would be adapting a recollection of Los Angeles Clippers basketball owner Donald Sterling’s racist downfall at the end of the 2014 NBA season.
Using extensive research and journalistic fortitude from ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne, Clipped takes the already wild story of Sterling’s banishment from professional basketball and sensationalizes certain aspects of the saga for a wider audience. Jeff Harris and Bernie Kukoff's sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" debuted in 1978 and ran 189 episodes over a whopping eight seasons. The series starred Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges as Arnold and Willis Jackson, two impoverished kids from Harlem whose mother had recently died. They were adopted by the wealthy Mr. Drummond (Conrad Bain), a Park Avenue millionaire. The series revolved around the relationship Arnold and Willis developed with their adopted father, new sister Kimberly (Dana Plato), and one of three kindly housekeepers. In the 1984 season, Mr. Drummond married a woman named Maggie, and she was played by Dixie Carter for two years before being replaced by Mary Ann Mobley.
"Diff'rent Strokes" wasn't just overwhelmingly popular, but it also served as a template for a decade's worth of booming sitcoms. It was "Diff'rent Strokes" that famously presented "very special episodes" about serious issues like drug addiction, homelessness, eating disorders, and looking out...

Prolific actor who, in 1980s films such as 9 to 5 and Tootsie, came to define the misogynistic archetype of a generation
In the 1980 office comedy hit film 9 to 5, Jane Fonda, as one of three long-suffering office workers subjected to endless harassment by their male chauvinist boss, played by Dabney Coleman, eventually gets to call him a “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot”, albeit in her imagination. These epithets could apply to a majority of the many roles played by Coleman, who has died aged 92.
With thinning hair and a fleshy, seemingly friendly face, adorned more often than not with a sly moustache, Coleman made his long career portraying deceptively ordinary, slippery bastards. He played “the man you love to hate” in both dramas and comedies in a similar straight fashion.

It happens often: First-time campers head into the wilderness with a tent and a sleeping bag, ready for a few relaxing days outside. Film and television actor Dabney Coleman passed away on May 16, 2024, at age 92. His death was a shock and a sense of pride for the legendary actor, whose work transcends several generations. In his own way, Coleman redefined television in ways that etched his performance in the minds of viewers. He was unarguably one of Hollywood’s most revered character actors. With his trademark mustache, Dabney Coleman played wealthy, selfish, smarmy villains. Of L.A.’s two NBA teams, the Clippers have always been like the neglected little brother next to the more glamorous and celebrated Lakers. So it’s fitting, then, that FX’s new Clippers chronicle Clipped — premiering Tuesday, June 4 exclusively on Hulu; I’ve seen all six episodes — pales in comparison to HBO’s superior Lakers saga Winning Time. A gaudy and campy basketball docudrama sung in the key of Ryan Murphy (though Murphy isn’t involved in this production), Clipped bites off far more than it can chew. It’s part underdog sports drama, part overheated soap opera...

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
Back in 2012, Doctor Who fans freaked out. We’d been told in advance that Clara (Jenna Coleman) would eventually replace Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) as the next companion of the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in series 7 of the show. But fans weren’t prepared for just how soon Coleman would make her Doctor Who debut. Although she wouldn’t officially join Matt Smith in the Tardis until a few episodes later, Coleman first appeared in the series 7 premiere “Asylum of the Daleks” as a seemingly different character named Oswin, who, although she met a tragic end, encouraged the Doctor to remember her.
And now, 12 years later, it looks like Who history is repeating itself. In the absolutely wonderful Steven Moffat-penned episode, “Boom,” the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) encounters a host of new allies, including a marine named Mundy. For fans of Star Wars: Andor,...

Following Dabney Coleman’s death, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is remembering the man he cast as John Dutton Sr. in the Paramount Network hit. “I had the opportunity to work with Dabney in 2003, and learned priceless lessons in the power of simplicity as an artist, but more importantly I witnessed Dabney’s humility, grace, and patience,” Sheridan told Deadline. Coleman and Sheridan’s filmographies show they crossed paths in “Back in the Ring,” a 2003 episode of the CBS drama The Guardian, in which the former starred as Burton Fallin, a lawyer, and the latter guest-starred as Tim Dohanic, boxer whom Burton helps. “I never forgot those lessons, and was humbled myself when he agreed to appear on Yellowstone,” Sheridan added, recalling Coleman’s guest-starring role on the Western series. “His performance was yet another lesson in bravery and emotional honesty. When a great actor like Dabney Coleman passes away, there is no shortage of platitudes that come from the acting community. There is a shorter list of people who repay their admiration or a good turn, when it really makes a difference. That’s when the actor is still alive. Quentin Tarantino has done it many times, resurrecting careers, and Yellowstone co-creator did it by casting Coleman in a flashback scene with Kevin Costner that is a most fitting epitaph for the actor. His touching turn as John Dutton Sr. was also a pivotal plot point, revealing a promise made by John Dutton (Kevin Costner) that explains why he would not sell off a single square foot of his sprawling Montana ranch. Why did Sheridan choose Coleman? It goes back to when Sheridan was trying to make it as an actor, long before he found his purpose as a prolific storyteller.
