Verve TV Coordinator Matthew Doyle has been promoted to agent. Per Verve tradition, Doyle was given the news via an elaborate prank. The announcement was made during Verve’s annual holiday party, held at Perch restaurant in downtown La on Monday. Partner Adam Weinstein, who planned this year’s party, secretly enlisted the help of the parents of every Verve agent for a holiday video. In it, they describe what it means to be an agent based on observing their kids — a lot…...

Coming down from that high, the Family Research Council says that marriage equality threatens the wellbeing of countless families. The whole thing is worth a read, but I liked this passage best. “Consensual homosexual unions might cause no apparent distress to persons proximate to them, but they diminish an institution – marriage – without which, civilization will erode ever more quickly. And in case one hasn’t noticed, natural marriage in the United States is in enough trouble as it is.” Sounds like a personal problem to me.

In the new issue of Gay Times, Jonathan Knight talks about being "outed" by Tiffany in 2011 for the first time in detail. And he finds the whole thing ridiculous. "I felt stupid having to make a public statement. Even when the band got back together in 2008, New Kids fans knew I was gay. Everyone did." Uh, no. Not everyone, Jonathan. But he saves the harsh words for Perez Hilton, who had been chasing him ever since an ex had sold private pictures to the National Enquirer. "Perez tried to out me many times and I hate that guy for doing that. I was already gay and living a gay lifestyle but he wanted me to talk about it. Why? My brother and the rest of the guys don't go on interviews saying 'I'm straight" etc. so why do I need to just because I'm gay? People like him want me...

Buzzfeed has a preview of the Glee/Archie crossover comic, where half of each group gets zapped into the parallel universe that each gang lives in. Is it Archie's purity rules, or Glee's sexytime rules? Because that's important. Oh, and I expect to see some slash with those character pairings.

I want to apologize for abandoning you on Friday, but the computer upgrade at the day job went horribly wrong. Evidently I can install a half dozen clients and a new server flawlessly, but plugging in the printer that we didn't replace was one step too far and kept me up all night. On to the news!
Quincy Jones is set to write the score to the star-studded Lee Daniels' film The Butler. Is there an A-list name in Hollywood not associated with this film?
Las Vegas is set to get an 80,000 square foot gay nightclub complex called Krave Massive, built in an abandoned multiplex. I'll be honest, I've never been to Las Vegas, and I don't really have any desire to go – I find casinos to be depressing places. Can anyone explain the attraction?

"Godspell" actress Morgan James ignited a firestorm on twitter this week after she tweeted a scathing review of Into the Woods at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical -- directed by Timothy Sheader -- stars Hollywood actress Amy Adams and Donna Murphy. Following the first preview of the production James tweeted:
“How can you **** up Into the Woods?? I fear musicianship is dead in musical theatre. And acting, for that matter. #horrified”
James’ tweet was deleted shortly after, but it did not stop fellow Broadway performers from responding directly to her statement. Broadway actor Matt Doyle responded:
Really don't like seeing Broadway actors trashing other shows on twitter. Have a little tact. We're all in this together.
— Matt Doyle (@MattfDoyle) July 25, 2012
Composer and lyricist Scott Allen echoed Doyle’s sentiments: “people read your tweets & you need to be apart of this industry & be respectful...

The full Frank Ocean interview with The Guardian is out, and it's worth a read. Several passages really stuck with me, but I really liked this one about why he put the liner notes out like he did. "It was important for me to know that when I go out on the road and I do these things, that I'm looking at people who are applauding because of an appreciation for me. I don't have many secrets, so if you know that, and you're still applauding … it may be some sort of sick validation but it was important to me. When I heard people talking about certain, you know, 'pronouns' in the writing of the record, I just wanted to – like I said on the post – offer some clarity; clarify, before the fire got too wild and the conversation became too unfocused and murky." Words of wisdom more than a few celebrities could learn from.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift won the box office with $45.5 million for the weekend, handily knocking off The Amazing Spider-man's $35 million. I'm not sure I buy the analysis about Spidey dropping 44% being weird – it was out almost a week before last weekend, so I'm not sure that you can measure it like a normal movie.

After some yes-it-is, no-it-isn't, it turns out that yes, it is Brad Pitt's mother Jane that wrote a letter to her local paper slamming President Obama, a woman's right to choose, and marriage equality. I bet family dinners are fun. "Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."

The Out Power 50 has been named, and it's as confusing as any other year. Topping the list is Apple CEO Tim Cook, who isn't formally out, and other non-out folks like Anderson Cooper and Matt Drudge rank high. But what may get them in the most trouble is that there's no sign of Adam Lambert.

Welcome to Celebrity Twitterwatch, where we get a peek into the fabulous and how they live their lives, 140 characters at a time. This week brings us a wide selection, but it all starts at Christmas, as we find out what the holiday traditions are when Santa has to check Us Weekly to find out if they've been naughty or nice.
Before the holiday can begin, you have to decorate, and even if you know fabulous designers, you may still opt for the Hgtv method. Thankfully, like just about all Diy explanations, even Christmas decorations can sound naughty, especially as Broadway's Nick Adams takes them out of context.

We’ve been following filmmaker John Michael Elfer’s Kiss Before the Slaughter since its down and dirty desert shoot earlier this year, and now we are proud to offer you, our Dread Central readers, an early look at the project's high-octane trailer! Read on!
Voted onto the ‘Blood List’ of 2010 (an industry insider list of the top not-yet-produced horror scripts in Hollywood), Kiss Before the Slaughter follows the exploits of ex-paramours Bradley and Raquel (actors Chandler Maness and Natalie Pero, respectively), who journey to Mexico for a black-market lung transplant for the latter, only to discover an underground organization who butcher the unsuspecting ‘donors’ on which Raquel had relied. Struggling with both their mortality and morality, Raquel asks Bradley - in an effort to save the group of complete strangers which the organization have ensnared as ‘donors’ - that instead he let her die. Needless to say, all hell breaks loose.
