As we all know now, Nathan Fillion was set to appear as Wonder Man aka Simon Williams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. There was originally a scene in the film set on Earth that featured a Simon Williams Film Festival. There were a bunch of fake movie posters designed for this scene that featured Fillion as actor Simon Williams. But, because of timing and pace, he had to be cut, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still want to play the part.
Recently in a radio interview, Fillion talked about his role in the now-deleted scene and expressed his desire to play it again in the future.
"If you know the Marvel Universe, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man, becomes an Avenger. So, he’s part of that universe. It was a neat little Easter egg, it was a neat little piece of the universe.

Will those tongue-in-cheek Simon Williams Easter eggs lead to Wonder Man‘s addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Nathan Fillion certainly hopes so.
Barring tie-in posters for the original Guardians of the Galaxy, Fillion’s depiction of Simon Williams/Wonder Man has largely been relegated to the sidelines, and a Guardians 2 set picture featuring the actor in full costume as the “douchey actor/superhero” prompted an extensive post from James Gunn explaining why Nathan Fillion didn’t make the cut.
But if anything, the decision to pull Wonder Man’s cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has only fuelled Fillion’s ambition to introduce Simon Williams to the McU in the not-so-distant future. While appearing on The Ara Show on Kiss FM (via Cbr), the fan-favorite actor offered some context to that scrapped Easter egg scene, before hinting that there is now an “opportunity” to welcome Williams to the fray – for real,...

Recently we have learned that Nathan Fillion, star of the cult television series Firefly and the film Serenity, has joined the cast of Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events for its second season. In the past Fillion has appeared in many comic book films as a voice actor. He is mostly known for voicing Hal Jordan in some of DC's animated films like Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox and Justice League: Doom. He has one live action comic book role in Guardians of the Galaxy, in the form of an unnamed Kyln prisoner that Groot take easily takes out.
He recently had a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which unfortunately got cut. In the same way we saw a Batman poster during Man of Steel, Fillion's cameo, or easter egg if you want to call it that instead,...

“Firefly” tends to rank pretty high in the gone-too-soon TV canon. A sci-fi series created by Joss Whedon and canceled by Fox after its first season, which ran for 14 episodes between late 2002 and early 2003, the show has since become a cult classic. To hear star Nathan Fillion tell it, one of Whedon’s ideas that never materialized was especially compelling.

It was just a matter of time until Nathan Fillion popped up in a "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie. He and director James Gunn are friends who have collaborated numerous times. And while he had a voice cameo in the first film, he's set to make a bigger appearance in the sequel. Thanks to an eagle-eyed fan in Atlanta, speculation is pointing to Fillion playing Wonder Man.
Photos from the set show movie posters from a Simon Williams Film Festival. Simon Williams is also Wonder Man, a former superhero who gives up the game to become a Hollywood star. The posters feature Fillion in fictional movies like "Haxan 2," Oh, Rebecca!" and a Tony Stark biopic. A Tony Stark biopic indicates these scenes take place on present-day Earth (or slightly in the future), and not as a flashback to Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) childhood. A video has surfaced from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that really makes me wonder what is going to happen in this story. The movie is currently shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, and the scene you are about to watch was shot in the neighboring town of Cartersville.
What makes this so interesting is that whatever scene this entails takes place on Earth in a modern day setting, so it’s not a flashback. The scene features a crowd of people screaming in fear as they run down the street, and behind them we see several cars being thrown into the air, which I imagine means they are probably being shot at by some kind of spacecraft.
Yesterday some photos from this set leaked that showed posters of Nathan Fillion as a movie star named Simon Williams, who in the Marvel Comics universe is Wonder Man. You...

If there was one word most viewers would likely use to describe 2014's Guardians Of The Galaxy, it'd probably be "fun." From the quirky characters to the film's action and general visual splendor, it's safe to say that it exceeded most expectations. The movie even had a lot of fun with one of its cameos. Most film nerds now know that the giant blue alien that picked a fight with our hero in the prison sequence was actually Nathan Fillion in deep disguise. It was a, dare I say, fun little Easter egg that scifi fans adored.
Well, it looks like Fillion's going two-for-two when it comes to Guardians cameos, Comicbook.com revealed in a new series of photos snapped from the set of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. What's more, the Castle and Firefly actor looks to be playing a role that has ties to deep within the comic book lore.

Two months ago, set reports from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 appeared to suggest that action veteran Sylvester Stallone was filming a secret and seemingly uncredited cameo – likely as a faceless Nova Corps foot soldier – in James Gunn’s galactic sequel. But ComicBook.com has news of a much more prominent piece of fan service involving one Nathan Fillion.
The tidbit arrives in tandem with new set photos featuring Yondu and a handful of his alien goons (via Atlanta Filming), but the reveal of Fillion’s cameo ventures far into spoiler territory – one you’ll find after the jump.

Fans of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy know that Nathan Fillion had a cameo appearance in heavy make-up as an alien in director James Gunn's superhero movie. Take a look below to remind yourself: The good news is that because he was unrecognizable in the first film, Fillion is able to return as a different character in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Some images from the sequel have leaked today that tease the role he is set to play. These aren't official studio images, so we're not going to run them here, but you can take a look on io9 if you're curious. Here's what's notable: It appears that Fillion is playing a fictional movie star in the film named Simon Williams. Simon Williams is the alter ego of a comic book character, so it is is possible that this appearance may have larger implications in the McU. Also,...

Nathan Fillion is set to make another cameo in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As you know, he made an uncredited cameo in the first movie as a big alien prison inmate who roughs up Star-Lord and gives him a hard time. He has a new part in the upcoming film, and if you don't want to know what it is, stop reading now.
Spoilers:
Some photos from the set of the film were recently posted by Comicbook.com and there's a movie theater on the set, so it seems the movie will also have some scenes set on Earth. The movie posters outside of the theater feature a series of movies featuring an actor that is played by Fillion in various movie character roles. One of those movies looks like a Tony Stark biopic. That tells us this is most likely set on a present-day Earth.

It would seem James Gunn has drafted his old pal Nathan Fillion (Serenity, Slither) in for an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, playing none other than Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man. In the comics Williams started out as a villain before putting his wicked ways behind him and joining The Avengers. He later retired to pursue and acting career, which is referenced by these mock movie posters that were sent to Comicbook.com. Whether Fillion actually shows up onscreen as Williams in the movie or not remains to be seen of course, as there's every chance these posters will just be used as background easter eggs. Still, pretty cool I'm sure you'll agree. Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Comic book artist Simon Williams has teamed up with David Hasselhoff to create the first “Hofficial” comic starring the Baywatch star, Wales Online reports.
Hasselhoff will continue to lampoon his image in this comic where he’ll be portrayed as a time-travelling James Bond-esque spy leading a group called The Heroes of Fearless Freedom – or The Hoff for short.
Williams, who has drawn Spider-Man, Hulk and Fantastic Four for Marvel, has created a series called Retro Tales which pays homage to the 70s comics he grew up with. Appearing in Retro Tales are such characters as Afroman, who manipulates his hair into various weapons, a Captain America-type character called Supertrooper, and now Knight Rider star David Hasselhoff.
Talking about his new series, The Hoff, Williams said:

10. Wonder Man When Joss Whedon was asked which other Avengers he would like to bring to the big screen last year, he replied: “A boatload. Pretty much everyone but Wonder Man. I never did figure out what he was for.” Oh. Probably best not to get our hopes up on this one then, but introducing Simon Williams wouldn’t be the worst thing Whedon could do. After all, he first joins them at the behest of the villainous Baron Zemo, but ultimately sides with the superhero team and becomes an integral part of the Avengers. In fact, it’s his brain patterns which Ultron – a murderous android inadvertently created by Hank Pym – uses to create the next superhero on this list... 9. Big news on the "Guardians of the Galaxy" front this weekend as HitFix reports John C. Reilly could potentially be up for a role in Marvel's first purely-cosmic film. The role in question? Rhomann Dey, leader of the Nova Corps and human liaison between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Yes, you read that correctly. Not only is it looking like S.H.I.E.L.D. might have its hand in "Guardians" but so is the entirety of the Nova Corps!
HitFix was also kind enough as to shed some light on Michael Rooker's Yondu and Lee Pace's mysterious role. Apparently, Yondu will be the main villain of "Guardians" (is Thanos taking a backseat?) and Pace will be playing a character that starts as a villain but becomes a hero by the end of the film, thus allowing for another spinoff franchise.

Earlier this year we heard that Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink had signed on to direct the follow-up to Terry Zwigoff’s 2003 black comedy hit, Bad Santa. As the festive season approaches, here's our look at the movies’ top ten villainous Father Christmases.
10. Santa Claus – Santa’s Slay (2005)
In this dark comedy horror, Santa Claus (played by former wrestling star Bill Goldberg) is actually a demon who, after years of killing on Christmas Day, is defeated by an angel in the year 1005 Ad and sentenced to deliver Christmas presents and good cheer instead for a thousand years. In 2005, having done his time, the evil Santa arrives on his sleigh pulled by his “hell-deer” to resume the killing once again.

Once a villain, always a villain — or at least that's what they say.
However, Disney's newest film, "Wreck-It Ralph," aims to prove that particular saying wrong. Starring John C. Reilly (as Wreck-It Ralph), the film revolves around a down and out video game villain who aims to go against his programming and starts game hopping with the hopes of becoming a hero beloved by all.
In honor of "Wreck-It Ralph," we've taken the liberty of compiling our own list of villains turned heroes. Comic book villains turned heroes, to be precise! These Marvel and DC characters all started off on the wrong side of the law, but are now either paying their dues or functioning as full-blown superheroes.

With “The Avengers” sequel now officially confirmed by Marvel/Disney, comic book fans the world over will be contemplating which of the publisher’s other heroes could be added to the line-up, potentially getting their own solo movie as soon as 2014.
Of course, we have to bear in mind the fact that Marvel Studios do not own the film rights to characters as key to the comic book universe as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine or the Fantastic Four – all of whom have allied with or become members of the Avengers at one time or another. In fact in owning the IP for the X-Men, Fox actually own the rights to any character considered a “mutant”, which rules out a huge portion of Marvel superheros from the off.
But with that consideration in place, here is the first in a series of suggestions for Marvel’s Next Avengers:
Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers)
Why?...

Which team will prevail? Which team should prevail? In this month's New Avengers Annual, now in stores, we get a look at a former Avenger taking matters into his own hands.
Reuniting the creative team behind the mini-event Secret War, Marvel's cornerstone writer Brian Michael Bendis and acclaimed artist Gabriele Dell' Otto are together again bringing us the climax of seeds sown in last year's Avengers 1.
Unhappy with his former team resigning to only react to global threats, Simon Williams aka Wonder Man puts together his own supergroup. Intent on being proactive in a world where the next big threat is right around the corner, Wonder Man's Revengers have their sights set on the first big target: The New Avengers.
Refusing to take a backseat any longer, Williams has gathered likeminded heroes Atlas, Anti-Venom, Goliath and D-Man - to name a few - to his cause as he now...

If, like me, you grew up in the 90s and were weaned on Public Television, then you’ve seen shows just like Upstairs, Downstairs, if not the show itself. At the very least you know the type: low budget British dramas from the seventies, with one set, a large ensemble cast, simple camera work but a high minded conceit, clichéd characters going through powerful storylines. If you’re like me, you find this kind of television show very comforting, like an old blanket. If not, you’ll probably find it in turns charmingly naïve, embarrassingly old-fashioned and powerfully insightful.
Upstairs, Downstairs follows the lives of the wealthy Bellamy family, owners and residents of 165 Eaton Place, and their live-in servants and cooks (who, as in the British townhouse style, work in the servants quarters downstairs, hence the title). The series entire takes the family and its employees from 1903 to 1936, but season...

Shaftesbury Films, a Canadian production company, has announced that production has begun on the fourth season of the Canadian period/procedural TV series Murdoch Mysteries. The show will premiere in early 2011 on CityTV, a cable network, in Canada and Alibi in Great Britain.
The fourth season will throw some difficult challenges Detective Murdoch’s (Yannick Bisson) way. To start, pathologist Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy), who departed for a new job at the Childrens’ Hospital of Buffalo at the end of season three, may have found a compelling reason to stay in Buffalo. Her replacement, brought in from Scotland Yard - the ill tempered Dr. Francis (Paul Rhys) - will frequently clash with the even-tempered Murdoch. In other episodes, under tragic circumstances, an old flame from Bristol, England, Anna Fulford (Lisa Faulkner) will return to pay Murdoch a visit; a crime spree leads to a Gypsy camp and a mysterious...

Will there be an Avengers sequel, and if so, could Eliza Dushku take on the role of Wasp? Would Jake Gyllenhaal relish the part of The Hood? Rob rolls out his fantasy list of heroes and villains.
After seeing Iron Man 2, the teaser for the next Marvel picture and the subsequent growth of the continued Marvel shared-universe, it seems the ploy is to eventually have Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) be the three heavy hitters in the ‘Ultimate' Marvel team up movie, The Avengers.
With the Hulk, War Machine, Black Widow, and even Ant-Man, making up the secondary characters that are being touted for the forthcoming feature, and a notion that it will follow Mark Millar's Ultimates plot (Avengers Vs Hulk and/or Loki), then it seems the first film will be a must-see for all comic fans and will...
