To celebrate the release of The King of Staten Island, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment are giving away a ‘Judd Apatow Trilogy’ Blu-ray collection containing The King of Staten Island along with two of Judd Apatow’s popular comedies, Trainwreck and This is 40.We also have an incredible poster signed by Judd Apatow and Pete Davidson and created exclusively for the film by Mad Magazine artist Tom Richmond.
Scott (Pete Davidson) has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died when he was seven. He’s now reached his mid-20s having achieved little, chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that seems far out of reach. As his ambitious younger sister (Maude Apatow) heads off to college, Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother (Oscar®- winner Marisa Tomei) and spends his days smoking weed, hanging with his buddies and secretly hooking...

Over the last two decades, Judd Apatow has become one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the comedy scene. As a director he’s turned out an impressive string of hits from Knocked Up and 40-Year-Old Virgin to Trainwreck and his recent critically acclaimed feature The King of Staten Island starring Pete Davidson. On the small screen as a producer, Apatow brought us cult classic Freak and Geeks, The Larry Sanders Show, Girls, Crashing and Love to name only a few. He’s also great on stage as a performer. If you haven’t seen his latest stand-up comedy special on Netflix, please do us a favor and immediately change that.

Mort Drucker, the cartoonist and caricaturist who helped satirize decades of pop culture in the pages of Mad magazine, died Wednesday, The New York Times reports. He was 91.
A cause of death was not given, though Drucker’s friend, John Reiner, confirmed his death. The National Cartoonists Society also confirmed his death, with member and illustrator Tom Richmond writing in tribute, “Mort was a true master of the craft of visual storytelling, and his work transcended the boundaries of the different applications of the comic medium. I had never heard of this comedy-thriller, and the good news is that it’s a pleasant surprise, thoroughly enjoyable. The toughest kind of filmmaking must be making comedy seem effortless, and that’s what Eric Blakeney does in this quirky, near-screwball take on the done-to-death drug deal undercover thriller. Liam Neeson is sensational, and producer Sandra Bullock is at her most charming. Even the flatulence jokes are funny.

Fierce, committed and above all, tough — these are the words that collaborators use to describe producer Robin O’Hara, a longtime fixture of the New York independent film scene, who died suddenly last week after complications from cancer treatment.
When O’Hara’s business and life partner Scott Macaulay of Forensic Films posted the sad news on Facebook last Wednesday, hundreds of prominent filmmakers, former crewmembers, and friends from across the independent film world offered an outpouring of condolences, remembrances, and testimonies about O’Hara’s importance in nurturing their art and their careers.
As “Saving Face” director Alice Wu wrote, “She was brilliant and mercurial and hilarious and terrifying. She gave no fucks — unless she did give a fuck — and then she gave everything. Anyone who has been lucky enough to be in her orbit never lets go. She pushed us all … and we became better people.”

The Reuben Awards will include an 'Online Comics Strips' category for the first time in its history in 2012. Event organiser the National Cartoonists Society (Ncs) confirmed that the May ceremony will introduce a webcomics prize as a "first step" towards supporting artists who work exclusively online. "This is definitely a 'first step' in recognising online cartooning in the Ncs divisional awards. It's been discussed and explored for several years, and there are a lot of challenges involved," Ncs president Tom Richmond told The Washington Post. "I picked the brains of several big names in online comics, (more)...

Nation Cartoonists Society president Tom Richmond announced this week that the venerable organization was adding a web-comics division for this year.
According to Richmond’s blog post, he and Awards membership chairman Sean Parkes had been working on this for some time. They received feedback from several industry experts including Dave Kellett (Sheldon, Drive), Andrew Farago (curator of the Cartoon Art Museum, San Francisco), Michael Jantze (The Norm, Professor of Sequential Art and Animation, Savannah College of Art and Design).
Richmond went on to explain that the category, Best Online Comic Strip, will be narrowly focused and based on the following criteria:
Comic-strip format only (no single panels, long-form narrative. etc.) Must be web only publication (any syndication in print would make it eligible for the Best Syndicated Comic Strip Division) Must be at least a weekly Must have shown consistent publication based on determined time-schedule (i.e. it being a daily,...

A new 3D terror tale is headed our way, and we have your official first word and look at what manner of abominations will be clawing their way off the screen!
From the Press Release
Dead Of Nowhere is a story about a man who finds himself trapped in a strange lawless town where he must fight various "abominations" in order to escape and save his wife.
Director Chris Young elaborates on the genesis of this project:
"I grew up on 70's and 80's late night cable movies and have always wanted to create my own odd universe with larger-than-life characters in the drive-in cinema style of filmmaking. I've been intrigued how digital cinema technology has made the stereoscopic 3D experience pixel perfect, and so I spent several months exploring a low-budget, high quality, guerilla-style way of filming that would allow me to shoot 30 set-ups a day, on location in the Mojave Desert.

President Obama may know that Lindsay Lohan is in the clink, but although Natasha Lyonne says her heart goes out to the blighted actress, she is trying not to think about it. Five years after her own meltdown made headlines and was mercilessly picked over by Gawker jackals, she is working, relatively content and a total scream to talk to.
Lyonne is following up her role as Deborah (that's Deh-bor-ah) Tennis, a deranged theater manager-turned-director of stylish snuff films in "All About Evil" (a horror romp directed by San Francisco camp guru -- and drag queen -- Joshua Grannell), with a couple of theater gigs, one an eight-month stint, the longest commitment she has ever made. Another day, another update to the Comic Con schedule. Previously we posted Fox's press release detailing the shows the network would be bringing to Comic Con (July 21-25), as well as details about the various panels. Today, Warner Brothers has announced the timing of its various panels and screenings. It looks like WB will be pushing its new CW show Nikita this year, with a special screening to be held on Wednesday, July 21 (otherwise known as "Preview Night"). I've seen Nikita (more on that in a future review) and the question is whether it's worth your time. Well, I liked the show. A lot, actually. So if you can attend the preview, then I don't think you'll be disappointed.
