Exclusive: Choreographer and director Drew McOnie (Greatest Days) is developing a stage version of Michel Hazanavicius’s 2011 Oscar-winning film The Artist about a Hollywood silent screen star whose career is upended with the advent of talking pictures.
McOnie told Deadline that he is co-writing the theater adaptation with playwright and screenwriter Lindsey Ferrentino (Amy and the Orphans). He will direct and choreograph the show, something he has wanted to do since first watching the film.
A series of workshops being held in London late next January and early February will determine how the show will progress. It’s hoped that the production will be ready to open late 2023, though McOnie insisted that “we won’t get locked into a trajectory” until he and his collaborators are happy with the show’s developement.

Chicago – Moe, Larry and Curly are three of the most popular names in the show business universe, and bringing them back to life in the new film “The Three Stooges” was a questionable risk. The re-imaging, with Chris Diamantopoulous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso filling the trio’s roles, is a loving tribute that unfortunately veers in too many “Un-Stooge” like directions.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
What works immediately is the care and detail given the famous comedy team by the three leads stepping into the personalities. It was obvious that they wanted to make sure that the Stooge essence was honored, and that mission was accomplished. None of the three pushed the characters, they simply played them as faithfully as their talent could deliver. The standout was Chris Diamantopoulous’s Moe, who honored the character (and subsequently, the real man) so much that it felt like a time machine has transported the...

Anyone out there who would dismiss “Hall Pass” outright — assuming it’s a formulaic buddy movie during which a pair of middle-aged horndogs go cruising for chicks, only to realize in the end that home is truly where the heart is — is in for a huge surprise.
Nah, just kidding.
“Hall Pass” is every pop-culture cliché you’d imagine it might be and then some.
There are dick jokes and boob jokes and cunnilingus jokes and masturbation jokes. There are shit jokes and beer jokes and pot jokes and Chinese massage jokes. There are black penis jokes and Irish penis jokes — even a premature ejaculating penis joke. There’s full-frontal nudity and partial nudity and even some gratuitous nudity.

Chicago – Since her breakthrough “comic” role in “Knocked Up,” Katherine Heigl has a line-up of titles that almost reads like parody – “27 Dresses,” “The Ugly Truth,” “Killers” – but there had to be some audience or they really wouldn’t exist. She makes just enough box office to keep working, which explains the latest and maybe worst of the bunch, “Life As We Know It”

With a premise that could only happen in the absurd parallel universe of movieland, Katherine Heigl is yet again single (in real life, Heigl couldn’t get down a city block and remain single) and yet again has one of those vague high paying small businesses (muffins!) that somehow manages to give her enough time to meander through another crash-and-burn narrative.
This time her name is Holly, and the film opens she is waiting for a date (cue skin crawling). It is a set-up, because apparently...

Chicago – The romantic comedy gets another variation with the new release, “Life As We Know It,” with Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel playing opposites who need to attract when thrust into a childcare situation that they didn’t anticipate. The film is directed by Greg Berlanti, who is also the screenwriter to the upcoming “Green Lantern” movie.
Greg Berlanti made a splash in 2000 by writing and directing the cult favorite “The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy,” catching much of the cast (Zach Braff, Timothy Olyphant, Nia Long and Jennifer Coolidge) right before their breakout popularity. He went from there to produce popular TV like “Dawson’s Creek,” “Everwood” and “Brothers & Sisters,” and premiered a new show in this fall’s season, “No Ordinary Family.”
In film, he is involved in both writing and producing the new “Green Lantern” film, slated for release in 2011, and is involved in preproduction for “The Flash.

Fool me once (The Cell), shame on you, Jennifer Lopez. Fool me twice (The Wedding Planner...sorry but when the lead character agreed to that arranged marriage to Justin Chambers, my inner feminist tried to knock himself unconscious with a blunt object), shame on me. Fool me three times (Enough...which should've been Rated J, for Jank!), and you can understand why back in 2002, I made a promise to myself that I would never again waste my hard-earned money seeing a J.Lo movie in the theater. (No, that free press screening of Monster-in-Law does not violate my vow.) Last night, however, a publicist sent me some new photos of Moonlight's Alex O'Loughlin, shirtless and driving a tractor*, in a scene from Lopez's 2010 rom-com vehicle The Back-Up Plan. Suddenly, the reasons for my seven-year boycott are fleeing my brain like the seeds of a late-fall dandelion in a stiff wind.
