I will keep this review short. I wanted to like this movie. I like Keanu. And honestly i don't expect his acting to be Oscar worthy.
With this movie, I kept expecting some twist that shows the girls were getting revenge for something in the past, or at least some small glimpse that Keanu's character maybe wasn't the good family man portrayed in the opening. BUT you never get that. You never have a reason to think he deserves what is happening. He does make a bad decision, but he putt himself in a bad position by being a nice guy. He was honestly trying to be nice and help the girls. And honestly, the girls are never really shown to have any motive. They are just crazy.
Aside from that, there were to many decisions that make absolutely no sense. For example, later on in movie, it is revealed that some how they have been spying on the family because they know conversations that were had. But...... how were they spying? How would they have ever had the opportunity to access the house to install cameras or mics? Their proof to the world that he is a bad guy was a facebook video of him tied up and being forced to have sex. They completely destroyed and vandalized the house, leaving tons of proof that they were there. They framed him for the murder of his friend, and god knows what they did with body. But they left him tied up.... so how would he have killed him? And last, he is left tied up and buried in the backyard! All the proof needed to show he was forced to do stuff and assaulted. Unless every cop, every friend, every family member are all complete morons and think he stabbed himself in shoulder, tied himself up, then buried himself.
It just feels like Eli Roth did not pay any attention to what he was doing, or worse, thought we were to dumb to spot stuff.
