The Cell (2000)
Journey Into The Sickness...
AMAZING !!!! Pity cause I have to put at least three lines for commenting the film cause I can only say one word : AMAZING. EVERYTHING IS...IN THIS FILM.... 11/10
Frequency (2000)
BRILLIANT
This is really an amazing piece of tape !!!!! One of the best ideas presented so beautiful and suspenseful...I really like time travel movies and whole idea, but this film really breaks every boundaries. It is fast, greatly build up and very suspenseful, but I mean in an emotional way. The cast is absolutely great, Dennis Quaid really did a good job but especially John Cazievel. The editing and directing are absolutely brilliant. One of the best movies I have ever seen... 10/10
Strange Days (1995)
THE FUTURE IS NOW
This intense action, psychological adventure gathers great cast, clever director and one very good idea. What else do you need for a great ride ? Film noir thriller Strange Days has everything : plot, effects, editing, directing and complete havoc. This is such a powerful film and good message to everyone ( clever ) I mean. Juliette Lewis absolutely shines which same stands for Angela Basset. Ralph Fiennes really looks like He is really lost in the whole trip but He manages later and brings up not that easy performance....All In all , you should see it, It is fast paced urban arcade film.... 9/10
Psycho (1998)
1/10
Well... This film is very strange, but not cause of the idea that is presenting but it is strange how Gus Van Sant mind works. This not so good director didn't impress me with anything he ever made. He decided to completely carbon copy the original. He just added some new things, color and not so good actors. That is not fair nor to KING OF THRILLER Alfred Hitchcock nor to all viewers that will go and "try" to see this movie. This movie is one of the worst horrors I've ever seen and original is one of the Best. Why ? First Psycho was and still is, was cause of comparing to the time when It was made one of the most terrifying films that was made at the time. I heard from elder that have seen it in the cinema's at that time that it was mind blowing, great suspensful horror, but this cheap, faggy film is nothing but a loads of tries to fit everyones taste. AHHHHH !Very bad, I am sorry for being this critical but that's the fact. Vince Vaughn was terrible presenting Norman Bates in whose skin Anthony Perkins fit perfectly. Anne Heche was ok, nothing special and Julianne Moore looked like She just came that afternoon to do the scene, completely not into film .Gus Van Sant haven't put anything new and refreshing which should happened if you are UPDATING the original. He just delivers fake essence of terror which Hitchcock perfectly presented. 1/10
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
WHAT ? ? ?
I simply couldn't believe when I saw this film... I couldn't belive how big, quality trilogy has been destroyed...This "prequel" no matter cause It has been done 20 years for prequeling is nothing but obsessive special effects movie. It seems that all the technology and equipment they didn't have 20 years ago they decided to improve now when they have it by putting more and more and more. The whole film is practically special effect without strong plot, with bad acting and no courage. First 2 films for me had courage, relaxed and happy feeling. This " blockbuster" has nothing but "tremendous" effects people haven't seen... blah blah blah, I even feel stupid on commenting more than one word : BAD. 2/10
Hannibal (2001)
THRILLER KILLER
I don't like when people start comparing the original and sequels. Every film has it's own charm no matter if is original or second part of an original story. Of course, if the second part is a bad movie then it is normal, but comparassments between two films and those immature thinking is simply out of the question cause that is an underestimation of director's work. As much as I liked the first part, I liked second one even better. I only like it better cause of technical things like photography, special effects and sound. Anthony Hopkins did STUNNING work again. He is just too clever as an actor. I wasn't that satisfied with Julianne Moore in the beginning but after half an hour she got relaxed and completely turned into cannibal hunter...Giancarlo Gannini was very good too. This is really thriller killer. BUT ENDING..........
9/10
The Matrix (1999)
You should see it for yourself...
When I came back to Earth in my perpetual visits I was expecting that someone will finally say some kind of close truth to the earthlings about their home that they are so proud of....And finally someone did. The two brothers made one of the best films that has ever been made on Earth. Mixture of Science Fiction, Action, Drama and Thriller, this film comes to the boiling point of facing some kind of different reality of technology that is ruling over everyone. The technology itself took over nature, nature of things and true human nature. Mankind in total, beside the film are part of GREAT EXPERIMENT MATRIX. That experiment predict to people how to behave, be and do things but all with complete freedom. That freedom is took away from people in this film and that is what it makes it so good. The script is very good, the twists don't exist, actually, whole idea is in some way obvious but what is unique for this film is idea, pace, direction, special effects, sound and lightning. The acting isn't actual highlight of the film but it is from Laurence Fishburne side. He was just great. Direction is mind blowing ! The brothers directors thought of every single thing in the film, making whole picture of every scene looking just perfectly. So, all you people, even after you have seen this Matrix, you should start asking yourselves what is the point of whole your life( besides that you already have asked yourselves dozens of times that question but without any answer). It is certainly not your work, TV, food or having the wildest sex you possibly can have. The point is up there, in the sky, you just have to see it for yourself...
Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997)
50 - 50
No Disney, No romantic stuff, just plain mixture of terror and some kind of boredom. I wasn't bored with the film. I liked it but there are a lot of things missing in the plot. Sigourney Weaver is perfectly casted for this role, I couldn't imagine anyone else playing it but Sam Neill was really really bad. I have 50 - 50 opinion on this film. There is good scenery, special effects and one third of the script. Everything else failes, especially with the miners. That part is done like all horror and thriller flicks nowadays. Fights between characters, who will do this who will do that just don't go with this kind of story. But all in all the film did succeded in what the "writer wanted to say". I give 5/10
Thelma & Louise (1991)
Drama
Ridley Scott did it again. He is really such a collage director, doing always different stories which one he is "telling" perfectly. This is very good adventure comedy but in fact, it is pure DRAMA. Drama of friendship that ended right. All people in the world want to do the same thing but they don't have courage. I don't say that is the good thing what they were doing but the good thing about it is freedom of breaking rules without any worries, knowing exactly how it will end. They knew ,That's why they were doing it. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon delivers roles of their lives. Brilliant! 10/10
Misery (1990)
One Of The Best King's Adaptation
This film is mind blowing, mind bending top - notch horror and one of the best that has ever been made. Psychological horrors are the best of the genre cause they truly present all the suffers and MISERIES this world is passing through every day. The Lost Paradise don't exist anymore and we have to be settled with good presentations of evil that lurkes. Set in the snow deserted part of America, moody and lethargic Stephen King delivers great human suffer, lost and broken on the borders of true hell, ran by obsessed woman. Everything in the film is absolutely great: acting, script, directing and FACES !!!!!!!Incredible ride through thing that disturbed us all a couple of thousands years ago. :) 11/10
The Witches of Eastwick (1987)
Stunning black comedy
This is really great movie. The cast is excellent !!!! It is intense, comic, with very fast pace. Some kind of different edge of your seat film....It is funny, cute way of imagining Satan and his dreadful, dark intentions. Portrayed by Jack Nicholson, I am sure every woman after seeing this film forgot angels and decided to choose their "perfect" ideal of man. Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer, Cher and Veronica Cartwright were just as much amazing. Direction is absolutely great, The pace in the film really makes you slipping of your seat.... 8/10
Boomerang (2001)
Cough Cough
Huh... The films in Yugoslavia are just getting worse and worse. Again we have very primitive, beer down your throat buddy film here. And actually very boring one. Just when you think, start watching very beginning that something can happen, in very next moment you are splashed with same hysterical approach Serbian directors have to nationalism, patriotism and social coolness with which Serbs are so proud of.The idea is in some way cute and chilling but director Dragan Marinkovic have done twisted work with it where the plot actually don't exist. It's just a simple, plain story in which they wanted to present that all miseries and misfortunes that happen returns as boomerang. Good becomes bad, bad becomes good, criminal becomes honest, idiot becomes clever, witty person. It is just too much considering that characters aren't actually real. And the situations they put themselves are overbuilt and pretentious. The pace and mise-en-scene are dreadful. Actors were losing themselves practically laughing at themselves for doing mediocre work. The only good thing in the whole film is character and performance Milena Dravic did. She is absolutely breathtaking, I was at the edge of my seat on the scene at the movies. She was absolutely wonderful, an Oscar winning performance for supporting actress. But all in all this film is completely not worth seeing cause a lot of people would be annoyed and by the direction and by the pace. Pity cause the idea is really good but completely not put into right direction. 2/10 + 2 for Milena Dravic only
Dolores Claiborne (1995)
Superb Thriller
Here is another great Stephen King's novel adaptation...And, as a lot of Stephen King's juicy psychological horror thrillers he delivers here quite different look at the dark sides of human nature...Kathy Bates is again at her best, after MISERY for which she DESERVED an Oscar she done it again, pity cause no one actually nominated her for any other awards. Not only her that delivers great performance but Jennifer Jason Leigh both with Christopher Plummer and Judy Parfitt did a stunning work. Great photography, direction and lights. Total Eclipse sequence is one of the best pacey thriller dramatic moments that I 've ever seen on film. A MUST SEE.... 10/10
Nebeska udica (2000)
Weak, Bad, Boring
It is incredible how patriotism and nationalism are the MAIN TOPIC of Yugoslavian film industry. I find this film extremely boring, with the weak plot, not that good acting, actually, domestic actors always act the same, non stop joking between themselves laughing at the misery when all of them "suffered" so idiotically all miseries that ever happend to us. The film is a bit hypocritical too. Camera is actually the only good thing in the film. Everything else is really dull, dumb interpretation of social gatherings, laughs and cries of the last "war" that hit Yugoslavia. 2/10
Tockovi (1998)
One Of The Best Yugoslavian Films Ever
Whoa ! This is easily one of the best Yugoslavian films ever. The director, Djordje Milosavljevic presented us thrilling ride through primitivism, extremes and social paranoia. Everything in this film is on it's place, camera, music, directing, acting and light design. The actors did stunning work, every character is stereotypical and very relaxed presented. The plot is hillarious, witty, comic and fun. But in the middle of all that fun lies very dark conotation and overlook on global situation in Yugoslavia these days. So, this film is pure thriller but extremely fun and relaxing one. A must see !!!!!!!! 10/10
The Shining (1980)
THE BEST FILM EVER MADE
This is without any doubts,to me the best film that is ever made. The reason for this rough, free judgement is that this film presents evil the best than any other film, and just cause the evil lurks on Earth it makes it the best to me cause the Stanley Kubrick skill is TOO F...... GOOD!!!! :) This slow paced psychological horror is for everyone, thus 98 % of those that watched it or will watch the film will find it extremely heavy and dark. It is, but with all right reasons. This is Jack Nicholson best role EVER , same stands for Shelley Duvall. AMAZING ACTING !!! This film has actually everything the best( music, camera, editing, lights, locations ). It just is the best film in the world ( for me at least...)
11/10
Don't Look Now (1973)
An Ultimate Psychic Horror
I saw this film a year ago, for the first time and as I heard that is very good, i didn't want to know anything about it, just cause it is so good. So, I started watching the film and literally after the first minute I was already sitting at the edge of the seat. INCREDIBLE !!! This masterpiece of horror belongs without any doubt on top 5 horrors ever made. My favorite one is definitely THE SHINING by Stanley Kubrick, but this one is on the second place. Brilliant directing, extremely relaxing acting, philosophical camera work, perfect lights, pace, music and suspense. VERY VERY SUSPENSEFUL film. It grows on you as I said after the first minute. It is very thrilling, psychological thriller with very dark dramatic elements that are turning into pure horror. For all that are into the genre this is A must see.
11/10
P.S. Just know that it doesn't have a single gore or blood spilling scene... That is what it makes it so powerful and mesmerising....
The Doors (1991)
STUNNING
One of the best movies ever made but not cause of The Doors but cause of all symbols throughout the film about Indiens, soul, glory and fame. One of the best acting ever on film by Val Kilmer. STUNNING !!!!!!!!! 11/10
