This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
From the beginning, the third season of Star Trek: Picard has been the Next Generation reunion the series’ previous two seasons have avoided. So far, the season has brought Jean-Luc Picard back into the orbit of Will Riker and Beverly Crusher, used iconography and theme music from the beloved 1990s series, and even caught up with Worf, Deanna Troi, and the Laforge family. Plus, there’s a new version of the USS Titan, with the Enterprise-f also on the way.
The third episode, “Seventeen Seconds,” even brought back actor Henry Dekker, who first appeared as Picard’s Nexus-induced Victorian son Thomas in Star Trek: Generations, to play a mysterious villain named Titus Rikka. But when that stranger’s face suddenly started to melt, Picard turned its attention to a completely different Trek series: Deep Space Nine.

The Real Housewives of Potomac fans have watched Candiace Dillard Bassett go from singing “Happy Birthday” to her co-stars when she first joined the show to now being a member of the Grammy Recording Academy. The Bravolebrity has no trouble slewing a verbal lashing her co-stars’ way, but she’s now becoming equally known for her musical talents outside of the show. With her booming singing and acting career, some fans wonder if she’ll leave the show’s drama behind to hone in on her work. But she says for now, it’s not something she’s planning on saying goodbye to.

Dave Bautista is setting the bar high for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” promising that it will be the “best” film of the franchise.
“It’s very emotional. It’s emotional, it’s dark, and it’s deep and it’s inspiring. I think this is going to be a special [one],” he said in a recent interview for Uproxx.
The “Knock at the Cabin” star admitted that he has yet to see the film, which wrapped shooting in May 2022 and hits theaters May 5, 2023.

“I thought ‘Guardians’ was going to be the best, or ‘Guardians 2’ was going to be the best,” he explained. “And after reading the script and after being on this film and filming it, it’s just so much better.”
What makes the third time the charm for this Marvel franchise?...

Star Trek: Picard had a couple of wobbly episodes and made some odd decisions in the season 1 finale, but is generally considered a success so far. At the very least, it was nice to catch up with beloved Next Generation characters like Riker, Troi and Data, as well as see the aged Picard at odds with a new Starfleet. But there was one big absence from the first season that everyone missed. Yup, I’m talkin’ Worf.

It’s a new era for Adam Sandler. Following up his highly acclaimed performance in last year’s Uncut Gems, the actor is returning to dramatic work in an upcoming film based on the novel The Spaceman of Bohemia by Jarsolav Kalfar.
Directed by Johan Renck, Sandler will play an astronaut who is on a mission to collect ancient dust. When his personal life begins to fall apart, he seeks out the advice of a creature on the ship, Deadline reports. See the Amazon synopsis of the novel below.
Orphaned as a boy, raised in the Czech countryside by his doting grandparents, Jakub Prochv°zka has risen from small-time scientist to become the country’s first astronaut. I’ve always had a soft spot for Star Trek: Voyager. Sure, it wasn’t as iconic as The Next Generation and nobody is going to argue that it was as smart as Deep Space Nine, but what it lacked in some areas it made up for in others by being extremely weird. Voyager episodes have included an Irish village in the holodeck becoming sentient and attempting to burn the crew at the stake for being witches, their holographic doctor’s daydreams attracting the attention of an alien race, an entire civilization evolving in real time before the crew’s eyes and… well, whatever was going on in “Threshold.”
So, I’m very glad that Voyager’s Captain Janeway – Kate Mulgrew – is making a return to the franchise in Star Trek: Prodigy. This will be a CG animated show aired on Nickelodeon which will follow a group of rebellious teenagers...

If you thought you’d seen it all when it came to Superheroes, the mega hit series ‘The Boys’ by Amazon Prime Original series made everyone eat humble pie. The series offers an alternative take on the superhero world and the way they are perceived in a way beyond your wildest imagination.
Set in a world where the multi-billion corporation Vought has their own brand of superheroes called The Seven or Supes, who have undisputed power over the public, politicians and the truth, we see a band of people team up to put them in their place and revolt against injustice.
After a phenomenal season 1, The Boys are ready to rock in season 2 with new episodes being dropped every Friday on Amazon Prime Video. With a third season already on the cards, it appears as though the show's incredible cast is going to be around for a very long time.

Star Trek: Picard reaches its eighth episode this Thursday, which means we’ve only got three weeks left until the show’s first season wraps up. So far, the Next Generation sequel series has proven to be unafraid to go to some very dark places. Just last episode, for instance, beloved Tng character Hugh met his end. It’s not all that surprising, then, that the newly revealed title for the season finale appears to be hinting at another major death.
Episode 1×10 is called “Et in Arcadia Ego” and like many Trek titles over the years, the name is a classical reference. The Latin phrase is also the title of a famous painting by Italian Baroque artist Givannia Francesco Barbieri. Though it’s often referred to as “The Arcadia Shepherds” in English, the phrase literally translates to “I too was in Arcadia.” The “I” of the title refers to the...

Madrid — Ahead of next week’s Natpe market in Miami, Beta, one of the biggest independent TV-film powerhouses in Europe, has confirmed a swathe of sales on its U.S. TV movie productions and high-end spin-off series “Gomorrah: The Immortal.”
The sales flag Beta’s diversified production-distribution model, and the continuing appetite for TV movies in the U.S., led by Lifetime and Hallmark channels, as the demand for movies of all type rises in a new streaming platform era.

Part one of the final episode for the Web’s finest fan-made series came out this week, and as usual, it does not disappoint. As Star Trek Continues warps to its conclusion, long-time Trek fans are treated to a wonderful trip back to the very beginning of the classic series.
The latest episode of Stc, “To Boldly Go” (a homage to the famous opening narrative to Classic Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation) is a fun trip into the Trek universe that pays homage to “Where No Man Has Gone Before”, the original 1966 pilot episode for Star Trek. (Okay, that was actually the second pilot, the first being “The Cage”, starring Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Pike, but I digress.) It shows the fidelity and affection that the makers of this show have for the source material; which is why they chose to end their series that way Star Trek began.

Universal has announced, today, that fans will have to wait for the next chapter in one of their biggest franchises, The Fast and the Furious, until 2020. Come inside for more.
You see that dark cloud hanging above you? No, you're not the only one effected by it, because Universal Pictures released tragic news that the 9th Fast & Furious movie won't be releasing for another 3 years, in 2020.
Originally set for April 19, 2019, the studio made the incredibly tough decision to push it back a full year, April 10, 2020. While they have yet to comment on the reason, it could be due to the fact that Fast 9 has yet to sign a director. The last person to direct a Fast movie was F. Gary Gray in April 2017's The Fate of the Furious.
Other contributing factors to this 3 year delay could be casting. Vin Diesel and many of the stars from the franchise are set to return.

The best fan-made web-series, Star Trek Continues, returns with a new episode. Like the original Star Trek show it’s based on, it doesn’t shy away from controversial issues. Does the latest episode “What Ships Are For” maintain the series’ quality?
“What Ships Are For” is the ninth of a planned 11 episodes of this excellent show, and it’s too bad it will be coming to an end soon because it’s far and away the finest fan-made web show in production. What makes it so good is its fidelity to the classic 1966-1969 Star Trek TV series, which worked as a metaphor for socio-cultural issues of the day. (Something missing from the recent Jj Abrams films). Star Trek Continues also dives into a hot-button issue by tacking the subject of refugees.

With production gearing up for a September start on the Brad Pitt-led Ad Astra, final talks with Tommy Lee Jones are heating up to get him to join the cast on the futuristic sci-fi epic.
Written and directed by We Own the Night and The Lost City of Z’s James Gray, information surrounding the plotline is being kept top secret, however, it has been reported that Pitt would play the slightly autistic space engineer Roy McBride. Twenty years after his father left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, McBride travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed.
Going on that premise, we can assume that Tommy Lee Jones could very well be playing his Father, in a story which will be set in Deep space. Ethan Gross has co-written the script...

When Claire Denis announced her new film Let the Sunshine In and premiered it at Cannes just last month, some thought it signaled a further delay for her ambitious sci-fi feature High Life, but thankfully it looks like things are back on track. The project, starring Robert Pattinson, Patricia Arquette, Mia Goth, and Lars Eidinger, will be kicking off production early next month. This update comes from a Vogue piece on Goth, while the Film Commission of Poland confirms shooting will take place there. One of its stars also recently opened up more about the highly anticipated feature.
“The movie will take place in the future, the character is an astronaut,” Pattinson tells Cahiers du Cinéma (via a fan site). “He’s a criminal who volunteers for a mission toward a black hole, but he realizes along the way that a doctor on board wants to do sexual experiences with humans in space … (laughs) It’s a very strange film. I had not thought about it for some time, but Claire talked to me about it here in Cannes, and she showed me some image tests of space, completely crazy. I love Claire, I can’t believe I’m going to work with her, especially for a science fiction project. It’s going to be very beautiful.”
As we await more details, check out the synopsis below.
Deep space. Beyond our solar system. Monte and his infant daughter Willow live together aboard a spacecraft, in complete isolation. A solitary man, whose strict self-discipline is a protection against desire – his own and that of others – Monte fathered the girl against his will. His sperm was used to inseminate Boyse, the young woman who gave birth to her. They were members of a crew of prisoners: space convicts, death row inmates. Guinea pigs sent on a mission to the black hole closest to Earth. Now only Monte and Willow remain. And Monte is changed. Through his daughter, for the first time, he experiences the birth of an all-powerful love. Willow grows, becoming a young girl, then a young woman. Together, alone, father and daughter approach their destination – the black hole in which all time and space cease to exist.

If you are a super sci-fi geek, loved Battlestar Gallatica or Star Trek: Deep Space 9, then you may have worshiped a "one year show" before it was cancelled called Firefly. I can say that I actually did not like the first two shows mentioned (please don't ignore everything I say going forth due to the Battlestar comment), but I was obsessed over Firefly. The show had great actors; Alan Tudyk was wonderful (check him out in Powerless), and the story was stellar. I was elated when Serenity was made for the big screen, but I was left wondering if the franchise would ever have a future.
As it turns out, according to Fox, there just may be a chance.

TrekNews has a fascinating article with Robert Meyer Burnett, the lead producer, editor, and writer for the special features on the Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Enterprise Blu-rays. Burnett discusses the incredible amount of work that went into those projects, as well as why he doesn't think we'll ever get a high-definition, remastered Blu-ray release for either Star Trek: Deep Space Nine or Star Trek: Voyager. Here's what he had to say...
In the interview, Burnett goes into great detail to explain why a remastering of the DS9 and Voyager episodes would take likely not sell well enough to warrant the time and money it would take to producer. His educated estimate? Remastering both series into HD would cost roughly $40 million.

The deep space mining vessel Atromitos has been adrift for two years. It is suspected that most of the crew had brutally killed each other for reasons unknown. Genetically modified “superior” humans are sent to investigate the marooned ship and recover the only survivor. Under the stress of isolation in outer space, the crew begins to exhibit unexpected character flaws. Cracks appear within the group which threaten the success of the mission and their chances of getting home alive.
The complete antithesis your typical direct to market sci-fi fare, Deep Space is one of those sci-fi movies that, despite using a lot of familiar tropes and cliches, still manages to rise above the generic flotsum of the Dtv sci-fi market. It does so in the best...

The hugely ambitious Star Trek: Deep Space Nine has no shortage of classic episodes. And you'll find a few Klingons here too...
Spoilers lie ahead for Star Trek: Deep Space 9
See related Little Me: My Life From A-z by Matt Lucas review
Overlapping with both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's seven seasons had some very high points, It also had some very low ones that strayed a bit too far from the core of Star Trek for some fans, yet gave the show a unique texture that some savour.
If you only ever watch 25 stories from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, these are they, at least in my opinion – the only rule being that multi-part episodes count as one story (but great big multi-season Dominion flavoured arcs don't!)
With the 50th anniversary of Star Trek as a whole this year,...
