The Western drama is still scheduled to return with its last episodes in November of this year.
There’s been so much off-camera drama surrounding “Yellowstone” that fans of the show can be forgiven for thinking that some of its characters have leaped off the screen and into real life. The rugged Western series following the triumphs, failures, and betrayals of the Dutton family hasn’t aired a new episode since January 1, 2023, and its co-creator Taylor Sheridan has decided to nix the planned final two seasons of the show and end it after its current fifth installment. Now, Paramount has announced that production on the long-awaited second half of Season 5 has finally begun, which means that fans can officially start getting excited about the return of new episodes to Paramount Network this November.

After the incredible success of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan roped in Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford for the prequel series 1923. It follows the story of the Dutton family in 1923, where Mirren played Cara Dutton and Ford played her husband Jacob Dutton. Mirren is not an actress to walk into a television show without reading a script. On top of that, she hated most of the “normal” Western films. However, she signed on to the Yellowstone spin-off without a script.

Mirren revealed that she loved Taylor Sheridan’s Western films, especially his 2017 film Wind River. She revealed that the creator managed to carve out some incredibly flawed characters, which made the series a different experience for her.

NBCUniversal announced on Monday that it was raising the price of a Peacock subscription by $2 per month on both of its tiers.
The peacock has always been a sign of extravagant wealth, and NBCUniversal appears to be leaning into that stereotype. As forecast by The Streamable's experts, on Tuesday, NBCU announced that it will be raising the subscription price of its streamer Peacock, and that beginning this summer, both of its two plans will cost $2 per month more than they do now. If that’s a little too much to pay for the relatively smaller content library of Peacock, and you’re thinking about canceling the service before the price hike kicks in, check below for options that will allow you to watch a much larger array of content for the same amount, or even less, each month!
Key Facts: Netflix offers ad-supported streaming for $1 per month less than Peacock’s new price.

“Yellowstone” Season 5 has seen more drama behind the scenes than in front of the camera. Since the first half of the megahit modern Western’s fifth season ended on January 1, 2023, Paramount Network has announced that the series is ending after Part 2 and will be succeeded by a new sequel series that will potentially star Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Pfeiffer.
The series is ending in large part because of a bitter conflict between star and executive producer Kevin Costner and the studio – more on that below – and at this point, co-creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan is reportedly planning to finish the show without Costner’s involvement.
And there are also smaller bits of drama, like Sheridan’s company, Bosque Ranch, suing star Cole Hauser for trademark infringement over Hauser’s coffee company’s logo, and Hauser and his co-stars Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes in reportedly tense, take-it-or-leave-it negotiations with Paramount...

“Succession” stayed winning with its third Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series on Sunday night, tying “The X-Files” and “Mad Men” for the most wins in the category. Since it’s over, it won’t have the chance to grab the solo record, but it did make Globe history in another way: It’s never lost the category.
The HBO hit, which earned a record-breaking nine nominations for its fourth and final season, was not nominated for Best Drama Series for its first season, only receiving one bid in supporting actor for Kieran Culkin. It promptly made up for that with an unbeaten tear, winning for Season 2 in 2020, Season 3 in 2022 and now Season 4.

But which shows ended up being the big winners during the three-hour ceremony?

Here is Deadline’s live blog of the hopefully new and improved Golden Globes. It’s a new iteration of the awards on CBS after the Globes’ longtime network, NBC, ended its relationship after the awards show’s previous management was scandalized by revelations that the now-defunct HFPA had no Black voting members, among other improprieties.
Now the Globes are a for-profit venture under Dick Clark Productions, which is co-owned by Deadline parent Pmc and Eldridge and run by Pmc CEO Jay Penske, with 300 voters (some of them paid) representing 76 countries.
The live blog again was handled by Deadline’s executive awards editor Joe Utichi and co-editor in chief Mike Fleming Jr, along with contributions by Deadline staffers who are at the Beverly Hilton on the red carpet, in the room and backstage. And as usual, we promise not to pull punches.
While some would say we risked life and...

Logan (Brian Cox) once told his kids, “I have you beat” on “Succession,” and the show could basically say the same to its Golden Globe competition. The HBO hit was already expected to dominate prior to nominations, but its record-breaking nine bids for its fourth and final season just underscored how it is truly the one to beat on the drama side — and perhaps nothing can beat it.
The show feels locked and loaded in Best Drama Series at 82/25 odds. It has more than 1,600 predictions to win. No other nominee — “The Last of Us,” “The Crown,” “The Morning Show,” “The Diplomat” and “1923” — has even hit 100 (not a typo) predictions to triumph. “Succession” would tie “The X-Files” and “Mad Men” with a record three drama series trophies, but unlike those two shows, it will never have suffered a loss in the category, which is definitely something to brag about. It...

Jennifer Ehle has been cast in Jaclyn Bethany’s queer indie drama “In Transit.”
Written by Alex Sarrigeorgiou, the Maine-set feature tells the story of a small town bartender called Lucy who agrees to model for painter Ilse – played by Ehle – who is existentially floundering as she seeks solitude away from her career and complicated personal life while on an artists retreat.
“Through their relationship, both women must confront their preconceptions of what makes a good life,” reads the logline.
Sarrigeorgiou will play Lucy while Francois Arnaud (“Yellowjackets”) is set to play Lucy’s boyfriend Tom, a local chef.
The film goes into production this month with principal photography commencing in Damariscotta, Maine before moving to New York City in February.
Marin Hope cast the project.
Emmy nominee Bethany (“Tell That to the Winter Sea”) directs and produces for Bke Productions alongside C.C. Kellogg of Valmora Productions, Sarrigeorgiou for Little Language Films and Sarah Keyes.

In two new landmark, multi-year deals for Spain’s top pay TV operator, Movistar Plus+ has inked partnership carriage deals with Warner Bros. Discovery and SkyShowtime. Both agreements were announced Friday.
Extending its partnership, the Wbd deal takes in current linear networks on Movistar Plus+ – Warner TV, TCM, Discovery Channel, Eurosport and CNN – plus premier Warner Bros. entertainment from Jan. 1 such as “Barbie,” “Meg 2,” “The Nun 2,” “Friends, “The Big “Bang Theory,” “Mrs Davis” and “The Winchester,” plus Max, scheduled to launch in Spain in Spring 2024.
SkyShowtime launched in February 2023 in Spain. The Movistar Plus+ pact marks SkyShowtime’s first deal with a Spanish operator.
No financial details have been given of either deal.
Crucially, in a move from aggregation to integration mirroring Apple TV+’s deal with France’s Canal Plus Group, both Max and SkyShowtime will form a seamless part of Movistar Plus+’s main navigation system and on-demand service,...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for David Fincher’s “The Killer,” now streaming on Netflix.
The next few months will be stacked with conversations about the year’s best film performances, but we’d be remiss to let 2023 go dark without mentioning one of its most exciting turns: Kerry O’Malley in David Fincher’s “The Killer.”
A veteran working actress who has appeared on “1923,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and in features like the “Annabelle” franchise, O’Malley more than held her own alongside Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton in the unexpectedly funny tale of a contract killer gone haywire.
O’Malley stars as Dolores, an average-seeming New Orleans woman who serves as dutiful assistant to a lawyer (Charles Parnell), who also happens to dole out high-paid hit orders on the rich and powerful. Fassbender, a protégé of Parnell’s, has been betrayed and seeks revenge — but must first tangle with Dolores,...

“Succession” went full f—ing beast in a way no one anticipated during the Golden Globe nominations on Monday, scoring a record-breaking nine bids for its fourth and final season. It is, needless to say, the odds-on favorite to win Best Drama Series for a record-tying third time. While the show won’t stand alone in the record books in this category, it would have a wee bit of an edge over the current record-holders.
“The X-Files” and “Mad Men” are the only dramas with three series wins at the moment. The former triumphed on its first nomination in 1995 for the second half of its first season and the first half of its second. After not even getting nominated the following year, it returned to win in 1997 and 1998. “Mad Men” prevailed for its first three seasons from 2008-2010, making it the only one to win in three consecutive years. Both...

Given the widespread reaction to Greta Gerwig‘s feminist phenomenon film Barbie, it’s no surprise that the movie had a dominant presence in the nominations for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
The film has received an impressive ten nods, which officially makes it the second most-nominated film in the history of the awards, on par with the acclaimed Cabaret.
A close second with eight nominations is Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer, which delves into the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the development of the atomic bomb.
Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globe Awards honor achievements in both film and television and distinguish between different genres. The awards recognize the best comedies and musicals separately from the best dramas.

The prophecy may now come to pass: There’s a good chance Jeremy Allen White wins a Golden Globe Award for Season 2 of “The Bear,” a week before he wins an Emmy… for Season 1 of “The Bear.” Ditto the show’s Ayo Edibiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
And so goes the most unusual TV awards season ever, where a delayed Primetime Emmys — with its June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023, eligibility window — falls smack into a Globes, Critics’ Choice and guild awards season with a January to December, 2023 time frame.
The Hollywood strikes also may have had an impact on the even more limited-than-usual showing for broadcast networks at the Globes. ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” was the sole broadcast nominee, and even it saw its fortunes drop to just two nods: Best comedy and best female actor in a comedy (Quinta Brunson).

Movies and TV programs from studios under the umbrellas of Warner Bros Discovery and Disney and streamer Netflix paced the field in Monday’s Golden Globes nominations.
Warner Bros Discovery touted 35 nominations across the motion picture and television categories this morning, with the company housing the most-nominated movie with Barbie (via Warner Bros) and TV program with Succession (via HBO | Max).
Netflix had a total of 28 noms, helped by Maestro‘s and May December’s four noms apiece and The Crown and Beef‘s four noms and three noms, respectively, in the TV categories.
Disney, repped by labels including Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television, FX, FX Productions, Hulu Originals, Marvel Studios, ABC, Pixar Animation Studios, Searchlight Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios, counted 27 noms overall. The Bear and Only Murders In the Building scored five noms apiece to help Disney’s cause.

Was the Oscar race defined all the way back in July?
This morning’s predictable Golden Globe nominations provided few surprises as far as the motion pictures contenders go but also give credence to my theory that the cinematic story of the year with the so-called “Barbenheimer” summer box office phenomenon also could become the story of Oscar season.
With a record nine mentions for Barbie and eight for Oppenheimer, these two very different but original movies easily led all comers and were nominated in pretty much every single category you might expect, with the snub of Barbie’s America Ferrera perhaps the only glaring omission for either one. The rivalry is likely to carry on to the Globes ceremony January 7, and both could walk away with Best Motion Picture awards since the Globes splits those prizes between Drama and Comedy/Musical. Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 and Amazon Freevee’s Jury Duty made a welcome showing at the Golden Globe nominations Monday, while the final season of Succession on HBO earned a deserved yet predictable round of nominations.
The Yellowstone prequel — the second created by Sheridan after 1883 — earned nominations in the Best Drama category and the Actress category, with Helen Mirren earning a nod for playing the Dutton matriarch. Other memorable performances in the prequel were overlooked, like Harrison Ford’s turn as Jacob Dutton and the phenomenal Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater, but it was a win for Paramount+ to see one of Sheridan’s joints get some early recognition.
Speaking of which, David Oyelowo earned a nomination for his leading role in Lawmen: Bass Reeves – Sheridan’s new anthology that only dropped last month on Paramount+. He’s competing in the Actor/Limited Series category alongside Matt Bomer (Fellow Travelers), Woody Harrelson...

2023 was a year full of highs and lows for fans of “Outlander.” High: Their favorite romance epic returned for Season 7, Part 1 (which aired from June 16 to August 11) after more than a year-long drought. Low: But it just failed to receive any Golden Globe nominations on the morning of Monday, December 11. High: Starz officially green-lighted a prequel series titled “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” to air in the near future. Low: But that meant the parent series would officially be ending with Season 8. Deep breaths, “Outlander” fans — we’ll all get through this together.
Voters of the Golden Globe association snubbed “Outlander” in the top Best Drama Series category, and its leading stars — Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser for Best Drama Actress and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser for Best Drama Actor — were skunked, too. So why was Season 7, Part 1 of “Outlander” not nominated at the 2024 Golden Globes?

The Golden Globes displayed a fair amount of consensus with the Recording Academy when it unveiled its first Golden Globe nominations for Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, giving nominations Monday to such recently Grammy-nominated comedians as Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, Trevor Noah and Sarah Silverman.
Rock was nominated for Netflix’s Selective Outrage, which was certainly the most discussed special of the year given its kickoff of a livestreaming initiative for the service, as well as Rock’s long anticipated dissection of his altercation with Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards, when Smith rose from the audience and slapped Rock on stage after a joke made at the expense of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Establishing itself in recent years as the leading purveyor of stand-up specials, Netflix leads this morning’s noms haul in the category with a commanding five nominations out of six, seeing Sykes recognized...

Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” a feminist phenomenon that traces its origins to toy store shelves, dominated nominations for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. Its 10 nods makes the movie the second most-nominated in the 81-year history of the show, tying it with “Cabaret.”
“Barbie” was followed closely by “Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan’s look at J. Robert Oppenheimer and the development of the atomic bomb, which scored eight nominations. “Oppenheimer” was released on the same weekend as “Barbie,” a rare confluence of blockbusters that inspired memes and, later, Halloween costumes, while turbocharging the box office.
Unlike the Oscars, the Globes honor the best of both film and television and steer clear of recognizing excellence in most below-the-line crafts like editing or cinematography. They also distinguish between film genres, recognizing the best comedies and musicals separately from the best dramas. Thus, “Oppenheimer” will compete for the top drama prize alongside “Killers of the Flower Moon,...

Adele thanked the women who came before her for paving the way for her success during her acceptance speech for The Hollywood Reporter’s Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at its Women in Entertainment breakfast gala, presented by Lifetime.
Helen Mirren presented the 16-time Grammy winner and THR cover star with the prestigious award that recognizes trailblazers and philanthropists in entertainment and media, which was established in honor of Sherry Lansing, the first woman to head a Hollywood studio.
The Golda star began her speech by praising Adele and listing off her many achievements. She also shared that the moment she heard Adele singing “Hometown Glory” was one she will never forget.
“This shiver went down my back,” Mirren said. “That chill that comes just a few times in your life, when you realize you are listening to a brilliant and game-changing new artist. And I thought, ‘Wow, a goddess walks amongst us.

Some movies just don't seem to age, and "Blade Runner" is one of them. Aside from the fact that the film is one of the most influential sci-fi flicks in cinema history, thanks to the efforts of director Ridley Scott and his production designer Lawrence G. Paull, the 1982 classic remains one of the most stunningly realized films ever made. The immersive world of Scott's dystopian sci-fi gave the impression, as Christopher Nolan once put it, of a "whole world outside the frame of the scene." That's made even more impressive when you consider the production team had a limited VFX budget and constructed most of the sets and visual effects practically.
In other words, "Blade Runner" doesn't look a tad dated even more than 40 years after its debut. Alas, the same can't be said for the cast. The sad truth is that, despite Joe Russo celebrating the inevitable rise of...
