Welcome to the latest installment in our regular Movies You May Have Missed series here on Nerdly, in which I highlight some of, what I think, are the best movies that have flown under the radar of many or have been “forgotten” in the intervening years since its release. This time round its a fantastic British comedy, Pulp.
Official Synopsis:
Thunder Racers, Infinite Finity, Rat Warriors. Junk Comics’ titles have been referred to as ‘the worst printed material since Mein Kampf’. Tony Leary, the nice-guy owner of Junk Comics, is gearing up for one last roll of the dice. His new superhero title, The Sodomizer, launches at the British International Comic Show, and nothing will stop Tony from making it a success. Nothing except a gang of Geordie criminals who are using a comic company to launder their dirty money. Tony is drafted by the police to identify the culprits and bring them to justice.

People just never learn. I mean never, man. No matter how many movies they see or how many stories they hear, they still trudge out into the jungle as if they have any business being there. Still, thank the video gods that they do. If not we'd be bored, and natural selection is so much fun!

The creative approach in drumming up interest in no-budget Brit comic book comedy, Pulp, continues to yield positive results.
Having recently chatted to co-director Adam Hamdy about the number of imaginative ways both himself, fellow director Shaun Magher and the production team managed to make their film a reality has taken another step, and their trailer and irreverent ‘Star Wars’ scene (see below) has now been seen by more than one million views since going viral ten days ago.
Hamdy believes the tactic to issue a scene through YouTube will help Pulp secure the right kind of distribution deal:
“Worldwide, the clip rapidly became the number one video on YouTube in the film and animation category. It was the second most watched video in any category in the United States. Comedies are tricky to market at the best of times. In today’s climate the majority of distributors are unwilling...

Adam Hamdy (second from left) is a 37-year-old filmmaker who gave up a lucrative business career to concentrate on his life-long passion of working within the comic book world, publishing his first work (entitled The Hunter) in 2007.
Last year he made a move into directing with Pulp – a fun crime caper which revolves around a comic book convention and the assortment of quirky characters who inhabit that world. Below he shares his inspirations and struggles in trying to craft a feature-length film with a minuscule budget but a wealth of dedication.

Take a gander at Adam Hamdy and Shaun Magher’s Brit comic book comedy “Pulp”, a film that was birthed during a visit to the geek mecca San Diego Comic Con. “Pulp” is a film that dares to explore the seedier side of the comic book industry, diving headfirst into the secret world of nerds who read comic books, and the dirty, greasy looking guys that apparently sells and publishes them. I gotta say, I’ve never met these kinds of guys in a comic book shop before, but then again, I was bit a wee lad when I used to actually take the time to go into a comic book shop. The last time I was there was to get an autograph from Jim Lee, and I have no idea where that issue of “X-Men” went, so there you have it. Infinite Finity. Thunder Racers. Rat Warriors. Junk Comics...
