Looks like Kelly Clarkson‘s red-hot romance with husband Brandon Blackstock might have inspired a lot more than just her confident and sexy anthems on her new album, Meaning of Life.
During a private show for SiriusXM listeners at the Highline Ballroom in New York City Friday, the 35-year-old Grammy winner revealed to the crowd that Blackstock was the first man that gave her that feeling inside.
“This isn’t a downer to anybody I dated before him, but I’m just going to be real: I never felt like, honesty, sexually attracted to anybody before him,” Clarkson confessed. “And...

Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s Tony-winning musical Hamilton has moved millions of fans since its debut on Broadway in August 2015. But no one seems to have been as affected by exactly like Jennifer Garner was.
Garner, 45, posted a throwback video of herself on Instagram Thursday, bursting into tears as she told someone over the phone just how much the musical’s score meant to her.
If Garner was extra emotional in the clip, it was for good reason. Having just had dental surgery, the star was coming down from doses of novocaine and laughing gas — and couldn’t help but get emotional...

When the New York Times gushes that a movie is "ridiculously entertaining" the expectations for that movie go through the roof. Few if any films can live up to that kind of over-the-top hype.
And that leaves me in a quandary. Because Logan Lucky is a terrifically fun movie. Is it "ridiculously entertaining?" I don't know about that, but it's pretty freakin' good!
Logan Lucky is deceptive and far more low-key than I expected. It is a heist movie among hillbillies that takes place at a Nascar event. And yet it isn't a shoot-em-up (I don't think a gun appears in the entire movie) and, while its characters fetishize muscle cars, it isn't a movie chock full of slow motion car crashes.
In certain ways, it is movie full of cartoon-like characters who speak with thick (often comically thick) hillbilly accents and who sport outlandish hair-dos. When we first meet them,...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. There's a brief, very beautiful moment in Part 7 of the new Twin Peaks, during the scene in which hotelier Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer) and his secretary Beverly Paige (Ashley Judd) are investigating a strange sound emanating from the walls of the Great Northern. Ben points in the direction that he thinks the soft, soothing tone is coming from, and for a second he seems to be pointing right at the camera—past it, really…toward our world, at those of us on the other side of the fiction/fact divide. A blink-and-you'll-miss-it breach, but it lays some subtle groundwork for what follows: The aesthetically and thematically provocative Part 8 fitted the Twin Peaks mythos into our very real history of atomic destruction. And this week's...

3.9 This Is The Chair
I’ve read that David Lynch sees this return series as a giant film and that he’s casually dismissed cutting it into episodes as a kind of haphazard affair, simply chopping it into 18 hourly chunks. This rings semi-true. We’re halfway(!) through this limited series and still being introduced to new plotlines and characters with little to no hint of who they are or how they play (if they even do) into what we already know. On the other hand, I think Lynch is downplaying his approach to editing these. Accidental or not, individual episodes do come off feeling like coherent wholes, at least tonally. I’ve come to expect (though...

If you can't build a Trump-sized wall to stop immigrants and undesirables from "polluting" America the Beautiful, just send them out into a wasteland outside of Texas to fend for themselves. That's the premise driving The Bad Batch, a dystopian fable from writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour, whose stunning 2014 debut feature – an Iranian feminist vampire western called A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night – showed promise that this follow-up only partially lives up to.

“We can’t get rid of each other,” Phillipa Soo says fondly of her former Hamilton co-stars. After a year playing Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit Broadway musical, the Tony-nominated actress -- like most of the core original cast members -- left the show last summer to focus on the next step of her career, which will see her playing Amélie in the Broadway musical adaptation of the 2001 French romantic comedy starring Audrey Tautou. “You have a little bit of sadness, because you’re like, ‘Oh, this means it’s the end of something,’” Soo said last year, just before departing. “But it’s the beginning of something else.”
In the months since leaving Hamilton, she joined Moana, providing the voice for one of the villagers in the Disney animated film for which Miranda composed original music. And most recently, the Schuyler sisters -- Soo, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Jasmine Chephas Jones -- reunited...

Yes, Lady Gaga’s halftime performance at Super Bowl Li was a literal and figurative mic drop, but we’re already looking ahead.
After scouring the Internet for a full seven minutes, we think we’ve found the ideal performer for next year’s halftime spectacle.

That’s right, this chicken knows how to tickle the ivories, with a beak that sounds better than my ten fingers.
With a year’s notice just imagine what this patriotic bird could do!

I watched the second episode of Riverdale mainly because there wasn’t anything else on that interested me, and secondly because I wanted to give it another chance. I admit to having a negative disposition towards the show – the premiere, if you recall, elicited an unenthusiastic response from me. So let me start with what I liked…
Ummm…Hmmm…
Nope. Sorry. Aside from the twisting of an American icon into something dark and twisted – hey, did Zack Snyder have anything to do with the production? – small things just kept aggravating me. Like Archie’s hair bothers me. Hey, for 76 years (the first appearance of Archie, Betty, and Veronica was in Pep Comics, cover-dated December 1941) the guy has been a true “carrot-top,” his coloring closer to Damien Lewis (Homeland, Billions), but Mr. Apa’s hair – and I grant you, the kid has some terrific head of hair on him – is a dark chestnut,...

Coca-Cola debuted its "It's Beautiful" campaign during the 2014 Super Bowl, and the company decided to bring it back again on Sunday during 2017's big game. Instead of making a new ad, the recycled one seems more relevant than ever and features young women singing "America the Beautiful" in seven different languages: English, Spanish, Keres, Tagalog, Hindi, Senegalese French, and Hebrew. Of course, when it originally aired, not everyone found the soda ad refreshing. It sparked a cultural controversy on social media and got the hashtag #SpeakAmerican to go viral. Coke stood by its inclusive message then, and it seems to be reinforcing it now in the wake of President Donald Trump's controversial immigration ban. Since it reinforces the ideas that diversity is patriotic and Coke is for everyone, some people might want to take note. The American motion picture industry owes as much to its National Parks as the government who keeps them awe-inspiring, safe, and pristine; had President Lyndon B. Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg, collaborators on Lone Survivor, already recreated one real-life tragedy this year with Deepwater Horizon, and now there’s the trailer for their second, similar endeavor: Patriots Day, about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Even this first look is a remarkably tense viewing experience, homing in on Wahlberg’s cop in the morning and moments before the explosions. Outside of Wahlberg’s composite character, the footage focuses on the officials who were required to take action following the attack: John Goodman plays commissioner Ed Davis, Kevin Bacon is FBI agent Richard DesLauriers, and J.K. Simmons is Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese, who was involved in the shoot out with the Tsarnaev brothers. The second half is scored to a slowed-down version of “America The Beautiful,” lest the title didn’t convey that this movie is going to be incredibly patriotic. The film is set for a limited ...

John Legend is standing with Colin Kaepernick. Or, rather, not standing. The 37-year-old singer tweeted his support for the controversial 49ers quarterback, who has been refusing to stand for the national anthem until there is a "significant change" in the oppression of people due to their race in the United States. After tweeting an article about the "Star Spangled Banner" that claims an often unsung verse in the Francis Scott Key tune "literally celebrates the murder of African-Americans," Legend called the song "weak." "My vote is for "America the Beautiful," he said, offering the song as a new national anthem.

This has been a fun, and weird, and uneven, and sometimes upsetting (Remember when He Who Shall Not Be Named hosted?) season, and it has been a pure joy to write about it, in both good times and bad. But as the great Nelly Furtado once sang, all good things come to an end, and so tonight we witness Season 41’s swan song-- guided by Fred Armisen, famous for his own run on SNL, his musical skill on Late Night with Seth Meyers, his IFC shows Portlandia and Documentary Now, and that time we let him play Obama because he was the most ethnic cast member SNL had. Cold Open: Hillary Clinton celebrates her inevitable victory while drinking at a bar with a slightly bitter Bernie Sanders. The two set aside their differences for a dance together. When people talk about how much better SNL was when it was first starting out,...

Much like many beers, some ideas are just too hard to swallow for the American public. Anheuser-Busch announced Tuesday that it is re-branding its signature beer, Budweiser, to America this summer. “Here’s to America the beautiful. Hold her high this summer,” the company tweeted. #ThisBudsForYou.” The message was accompanied by an image of a Budweiser can altered to read “America.” Oddly, a good number of Americans found the move distasteful, and vented their displeasure on social media. The first trailer for "The Purge: Election Year" includes a sweeping chorus of "America the Beautiful" as we see shots of guns, blood, and mayhem on the streets -- along with the tagline "Keep America Great." USA! USA! USA! The movie will be released the weekend of July 4th, because this is what happens when Will Smith abandons the holiday.
This is the third movie in the "Purge" franchise and the political theme follows Elizabeth Mitchell ("Lost," "V") as Senator Charlene "Charlie" Roan, the sole survivor of a Purge Night attack on her family 15 years earlier. Now she wants to stop the Purge once and for all, and others would like to stop her. (It's almost like she's a Bernie/Hillary hybrid and the Purge protectors are Trump, but mayyyyybe that's reading too much into things.)

Maybe it’s not the greatest spectacle on earth (as the WWE claims) but Wrestlemania has surely always been entertaining. I think I kind of stopped watching after Wrestlemania X but that doesn’t mean I haven’t followed the results and read the stories all these years. After Tamar Braxton withdrew from season 21 of Dancing with the Stars earlier this week because of blood clots in her lungs, the ABC reality dance competition's producers looked "at all possibilities" (including bringing back recently eliminated star Alexa PenaVega), but ultimately it was decided only the remaining four couples will compete on Monday's episode, People can reveal exclusively.
To fill the time that had been slotted for Braxton's performances, the semi-finalists will dance head-to-head in a competition that was just added to the lineup for Monday.

“I renegotiated it down to two hours — so we can get the hell out of here! Not bad!” That was Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s chuckling take on his agreement with Dr. Ben Carson to boycott CNBC’s Gop Debate regarding overall running time.
The Celebrity Apprentice host’s disdain for the network that hosted the event percolated throughout the event — despite the fact that CNBC’s crazy-cacophonous pre-game commentary definitely leaned anti-Obama and pro-fiscal conservatism.

Katy Perry was on hand to support Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at her rally in Iowa on Saturday. The star, who turned 31 on Sunday, looked patriotic while hitting the stage in a red, white, and blue outfit complete with matching nails at the Jefferson-Jackson Democratic fundraiser dinner. Katy's performance included songs like "America the Beautiful" and her own hit "Firework." The singer even took over Hillary's Instagram account for the day and shared photos of the two together, as well as a snap of a necklace she gifted Hillary for her 68th birthday, which is on Oct. 27. Also in attendance was Hillary's husband and former Us President Bill Clinton, who welcomed Katy to the stage by jokingly saying, "Look, I don't want to talk long, because I have never been the warmup act for Katy Perry before. I am well aware I am the warmup act." Keep...

It’s time once more for that big show of the year, the show of shows, the grand-daddy of them all, the biggest professional wrestling and sports entertainment event for fans and performers that there is. This year, held in California, the event features many matches featuring big names from the past and present of WWE, so let’s take a look at Wrestlemania 31, shall we?
On paper, I must admit to not looking forward to a great deal of this year’s WrestleMania, but my excitement was still there, as it always is when this time of year comes around. WWE are always very good at building hype for their big event. The PPVpresented a two-hour kick-off show, with its second hour featuring two matches, two matches that featured a ton of main roster full timers. A four-way tag team title match, and the second annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale.

Welcome to New York
Written by Abel Ferrara & Christ Zois

USA, 2014
There are times during Abel Ferrara’s Welcome to New York when you can feel a defiant filmmaker pushing back against the moralizing status quo. When he gives voice to trampled idealism and unapologetic carnality. Those fleeting moments of clarity make the rest of this disjointed, unfocused mess all the more painful. Cinema owes a debt of gratitude to auteurs like Ferrara and Gérard Depardieu, but there’s simply no dramatic necessity for this film to exist.
When “America the Beautiful” serenades an opening credit montage featuring stacks of cash and glistening gold bars you know that subtlety is out the window. Welcome to New York features lots of cinematic spaghetti; different genres and tones thrown against the wall with very little of it sticking. Social satire, melodrama, cinéma vérité, and tragic monologues make for...
