Imogen Poots and Daredevil star Jon Bernthal have plot course for Sweet Virginia, the upcoming thriller in the works from River director Jamie Dagg.
Deadline has the scoop, confirming that the duo will round out a cast that also features Christopher Abbott, Rosemarie DeWitt and Odessa Young. It’s set to hit the ground running, too, entering production on August 27 ahead of a planned theatrical release at some point in 2017.
Story details are few and far between, but the general gist reveals that Sweet Virginia will orbit around a “motel owner with a dark past (Bernthal) who unknowingly starts a rapport with a young hitman (Abbott) responsible for a spate of violence that suddenly has gripped a small town.” Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Chris Ferguson, Fernando Loureiro and Roberto Vasconcellos are among the producers attached to the low-key thriller.

With practically no dialogue, the teaser trailer for Skybound Entertainment's Air debuted at Sdcc this weekend, and we have it for you right here along with a few highlights from the panel.
Director Christian Cantamessa described the film to the crowd assembled for Skybound's presentation, "[It] is full of hope. It's just my way to kind of give hope that there is a future, and the best way to experience it is maybe seeing the other side first, and then you can appreciate what you've got."
He added, "I think the best science-fiction is talking about our society and our world."
Co-star (with Djimon Hounsou) Norman Reedus said, "I'm really excited about this film. Christian's going to be a great director, I can tell."

Fresh from completing his big screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill has decided to join another action-comedy - this time teaming up with Mark Wahlberg to play a "bumbling pair of antiheroes." The film, entitled Good Time Gang, tells the story of "two party-happy mercenaries who decide to take on a more serious case involving a terrorist." Their mission becomes more complicated when they discover that one of them is related to the target. It's been described as a new spin on Lethal Weapon among those close to the project, meaning that the film will lean more towards action than comedy. The script comes courtesy of Max Landis (son of John), who has several films in development right now, including a new Frankenstein movie. Good Time Gang is currently set up at Rcr Pictures (financed by world poker champion Chris Ferguson) as an independent project. So, it looks as...

Capping off a program that began 30 years ago, the Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off from Cape Canaveral on Friday (July 8) carrying four astronauts and a whole lot of mixed feelings about the future of the space program.
There had been some doubt that the mission would launch as scheduled thanks to some lingering clouds over the Kennedy Space Center. But, as if on cue, the clouds lifted and Nasa engineers gave the go-ahead for launch.
The shuttle carries supplies for the International Space Station. Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley and mission specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim will go down in history as the final crew to undertake a shuttle mission.
Across the Internet, astronaut aficionados watched the launch -- which was broadcast live by Nasa -- and tweeted their reactions.

24 Frames reports that Mark Wahlberg and a much recently trimmed down Jonah Hill have become attached to Good Time Gang, an original buddy cop action/comedy that is promised to be a ‘new spin on the Lethal Weapon franchise’.
The new take, it’s said, is to have a bigger emphasis on action over laughs. The story;
“follows two party-happy mercenaries who decide to take on a more serious case involving a terrorist, only to find their mission complicated when they discover one of them is related to the target.”
The film has been scripted by Max Landis (yes, the son of the legendary American Werewolf in London director John Landis) and is set up at the indie outfit Rcr Pictures, financed by world poker champion Chris Ferguson. Robin Schorr (Food Inc) will produce.
Buddy action/cop territory is no stranger a genre to either Wahlberg or Hill, especially recently...

The scandal-ridden financial sector doesn't expect new films to show its good side
When Hollywood meets Wall Street, two worlds collide in a tectonic rumble of mutual loathing. A series of finance-themed movies will shortly hit big screens – and America's money-making elite are resigned to a bashing on camera.
As if the banking industry didn't have enough reputational problems, the poster boy for financial corruption, Gordon Gekko, is about to return. Played by Michael Douglas, the fictional star of Oliver Stone's 1987 hit movie Wall Street is back for a long-awaited sequel – Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps – and he minces few words about what he finds: "Somebody reminded me I once said 'greed is good'. Now, it seems, it's legal."
Gekko isn't the only big-screen critic for financiers to worry about. A documentary called Inside Job, by the Oscar-nominated producer Chris Ferguson, comes out next month with a narration by Matt Damon,...
