The Family Season 1 episode 9 is titled, “The Betta Male” which should give every aquarium owner pause. Why? Because a Betta male fish can not be kept in a tank with other male fish. The Betta will attack and kill them! The only place that metaphor would directly apply is between the real Adam Warren and “Adam” Ben (Liam James). Hmmm…supposedly Adam “just got sick…. From the story synopsis more of Ben’s story looks like it’ll be explored in this episode, but there are some other ones being examined as well. Detective Nina Meyer searches for clues about Adam’s

The Family season 1 episode 7 is promising to be one emotional upheaval after another! The aftermath of learning what happened to ten-year-old Adam Warren doesn’t look like it’s going to be bringing much peace to anyone – especially not to Claire Warren (Joan Allen) or her daughter Willa (Alison Pill). Here’s the press release synopsis: In dramatic flashbacks we find out about Adam’s return to Red Pines, which plays out against the emotional backdrop of Willa’s long-held secrets and lies. We get a glimpse of what Adam went through in captivity and Hank’s desperate state of mind while incarcerated.

Fans of The Family, there’s something you should know: Series creator Jenna Bans has been holding out on you.
Long before the ABC drama came to fruition, when it was just a story pitched in a boardroom, Bans knew the major twist she’d eventually reveal to viewers: that the returned Adam Warren is, in fact, an impostor, a revelation that was made in the final moments of Sunday’s episode.
But if you’re feeling skeptical about Adam’s paternity-test results — and we wouldn’t blame you, considering they came from a coffee mug and a used Q-Tip...

Last week’s episode of ABC’s The Family had some intense action, not the least of which was the ending. Hank Asher (Andrew McCarthy) – the pedophile wrongly accused of killing young Adam Warren (Maxwell James) – was found beaten with a baseball bat in his own home! He was either unconscious or dead, because there was blood pooling around his head (among other places). Spoiler Alert!!! If you couldn’t tell from the title, this is a major spoiler coming up for The Family Season 1 episode 5! Whoa! Hank is saying that it’s John Warren (Rupert Graves) that beat

Ever since The Family viewers spied Adam Warren watching old home movies on a loop, attempting to perfect the way his young self said, “I want a big piece! I want the frosting!” there has clearly been something a little off about the Warrens’ long-lost son.
Fortunately for the home audience, series creator Jenna Bans is hyper-aware of how many mysteries the ABC drama has introduced in just four installments — and she promises that Sunday’s episode (9/8c) will answer the major, lingering question of Adam’s identity.

Aside from the superb acting – for starters, Joan Allen is in it as matriarch Claire Warren – ABC’s The Family has a solid mystery/thriller going on. We have no idea who the returned Adam Warren (Liam James) is, but we know he was seriously abused. The Family, “All You See is Dark” is a good title for the show’s second episode. Despite the return of he presumed dead Adam Warren (Liam James) to his family there’s not much lightness and joy in the lives of the Warren’s- or anyone else. In terms of the mystery of his disappearance, the truth is absolutely still in the dark. The opening monologue this time is Adam. He’s talking about how once you’ve left home you can’t really come back because everything will be different. A split-screen makes a parallel between Adam’s experiences and his the man wrongly convicted

Serialized mysteries are a tricky thing. Dole out your secrets too slowly, and the audience gets bored. Front-load your bombshells in the first few episodes, there’s a risk viewers will roll their eyes and groan, “Well, this is all just a bit too much.”

ABC is no stranger to “sticking with what works” to the point of spitting out shows that are almost cruel, and The Family is one more spin at the Broadchurch et al wheel with little that can hope to especially impress.
It isn’t that the elements aren’t all there… or at least, I suppose, that some elements aren’t there, but nothing sets this one apart. We’re used to the gimmick now, and unless every next “drama for drama’s sake” long-arc vehicle is going to hit, this one quickly becomes forgettable.
It isn’t even just that the format is becoming overly familiar, but we’ve recently danced with the return of the lost child premise several times, and combined with the style, pensive looks, and “this is the family/town where everything happened” construction, the positives are crushed under the weight.

Another day, another Comic-Con schedule! Are you ready to plan out our Saturday at this years convention!? Once again there's a ton of great panels going on including Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim, Man of Steel, The Hobbit, Marvel TV, Django Unchained, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and more!
Saturday has shaped up to be a hell of a great day for those of you attending Comic-Con. I've put *** next to all of the panels that we want to attend, but like every year, I'm sure we'll be covering a lot more stuff.
We'll be wearing our GeekTyrant shirts, so if you see us walking around San Diego and the convention center, please stop and and say hi! We'd love to meet our readers. We will also be holding our annual meet-up on Wednesday night before the crazy geek storm.
Check out the schedule below and let us know what panels you'll be attending,...

The Punisher has my favourite origin of any comic book character. I’m not saying I delight at the fact that Frank Castle had to watch as his family was ripped apart in a hail of bullets but his origin is the most believable (yes, I know I’m talking about a comic where a 50 year old man takes on the mob with more ordanance that the U.S. army, believable doesn’t come into it) in that if my loved ones were killed, I wouldn’t throw on a reallllly tight fitting costume and start beating up muggers. I would instead track down and kill those responsible, just like good ol’ Frank. One thing that didn’t gel with me though: why has hasn’t The Punisher never stopped?
Theres a dozen answers to this question, but the one I like the most was presented in ‘Born’… Frank Castle is in love with war.

First things first: Livewires is Not a manga. Sure it’s been collected in a digest format, features hyper-advanced human looking robots displaying human emotions, the art is very reminiscent of Japanese comics, it has, at times, a highly convoluted plot, and features more action than a comic published in America has any right to (the first issue is a protracted battle at a weapons factory,
where we meet each main character one by one, at once showing their personality and role within the series). It’s not a manga. But it’s the closest Marvel has ever come to publishing one.
Written by Adam Warren, with art by Rick Mays (based on Warren’s layouts), the mini-series inhabits the espionage filled corner of the Marvel Universe that is home to Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D, and numerous secret organizations, like A.I.M. And Hydra. The...
