AMC Networks is rolling out cheaper, ad-supported tiers for all of its niche streaming services after putting ads on its flagship AMC+ bundle late last year.
The new versions will all be up and running by the end of the 2024-25 upfront, the company said Monday. It will convene its annual upfront presentation to ad buyers on Wednesday night in New York.
Subscribers to AMC+ opting for the ad tier also get ad-supported versions of Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited. But subscribers to those services outside the bundle have not previously had the option of a lower-priced version with sponsored breaks. In the planned rollout, ads will come to the individual services as well as AcornTV, Hidive and Allblk, which are not currently part of AMC+.

In the board game The Werewolves of Thiercelieux, inspired by Werewolf, paranoia and mistrust ensues as players seek to uncover the hidden identity of a werewolf in their midst. Netflix unveiled a first look image at Family Pack this morning, a French comedy that adapts the game for what looks to be a fun werewolf romp.
As if that’s not intriguing enough, the cast includes Léon: The Professional actor Jean Reno!
The logline for Family Pack: “After discovering a mysterious card game, a family is thrust back in time to a medieval village where they must fend off dangerous werewolves each night.”
François Uzan (“Lupin”) helms the family-friendly feature.
The first look image gives us a peek at the cast of players unwittingly thrust into the werewolf fray. That includes Franck Dubosc, Jean Reno, Suzanne Clément, Jonathan Lambert, and Gregory Fitoussi.

From Freddy Krueger to Annie Wilkes, iconic villains with memorable backstories are a hallmark of popular horror media, but there’s more than one way to terrify audiences. For example, some horror flicks task viewers with unmasking the mysterious antagonist alongside our main characters in scare-centric whodunit mashups.
And with the continued success of the Scream franchise proving that audiences are hungry for more mystery alongside the traditional blood and guts, we’ve decided to come up with a list recommending six lesser-known whodunit horror flicks for your viewing pleasure.
Since this list is meant to highlight underseen scary movies, we won’t be including more popular whodunits like the original Friday the 13th, Happy Death Day or any of the aforementioned Scream films. However, feel free to comment below with your own favorite whodunit horror flicks if you think we missed a particularly underrated one.

Protagonist Pictures is launching international sales on the film, which will be shopped to buyers at this month’s European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are co-repping North America.
Written by Aaron Horwitz (“The Cleansing Hour”), “Green Bank” takes place in a real American town where wifi, cell service and all other radio transmissions are heavily forbidden. The film follows infant sleep-trainer Sloan (Brown), who realizes that the parents of the child she’s caring for are much more than the clueless yuppies they seem to be.

Believe it or not, horror-based musicals are a rarity. Sure, there's "Frankenstein - A New Musical," "Little Shop of Horrors," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," and "Dracula, the Musical," among a few others. But in the scope of musical theater history, those are mere blips on the radar. Considering original horror movies have raked in hundreds of millions of dollars over the last year alone, horror musicals should be a no-brainer. There is a treasure trove of stories that could easily make the transition from film to the stage. Of course, you'd have to make a few tweaks in the storytelling here and there, pare down the locations to a handful, and hire a strong practical makeup effects department. Let's face it, these days, you've gotta have the blood!
Flipping through the decades, '80s and '90s horror has an inherent theatricality to it, owed largely to Gialli and slasher influence.

Happy New Year everyone, and welcome to my faves of ‘22. It’s become redundant to say “it was another great year” but goddammit I can’t lie: 2022 was loaded with quality horror, up and down the line, across all media.
This means as with every recent year, I have missed several releases – a few of the big ones, and several smaller yet intriguing entries. My frequent bouts of absenteeism this time around weren’t because of any bouts of laziness or writer’s malaise, but rather due to working on my first book, A Cut Below: A Celebration Of B Horror Movies, 1950s - 1980s, coming this year from McFarland Publishing! Twelve film festivals each housing essays on five films with a common theme. I can hardly wait to share it with the world. End of plug!

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie directors! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between.
For this––our last episode of 2022––we bring on the extremely talented filmmaker Josh Ruben to discuss the legendary Sam Raimi. We primarily focus on some of Raimi’s earlier B-Sides: namely Crimewave (currently streaming on Tubi), The Quick and the Dead, and For Love of the Game.
Ruben himself stars in the new film A Wounded Fawn, now streaming on Shudder. This is a brutal, gnarly, allegorical piece of horror that earns a solid recommendation from The B-Side. Seek it out and enjoy! Ruben has also directed two top-notch features: Scare Me and Werewolves Within.

(Welcome to The Daily Stream, an ongoing series in which the /Film team shares what they've been watching, why it's worth checking out, and where you can stream it.)
The Movie: "A Wounded Fawn"
Where You Can Stream It: Shudder
The Pitch: Rod Serling's opening narration for "The Twilight Zone" teased "a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind." It's in this realm that filmmaker Travis Stevens is most comfortable, and the one he presents in "A Wounded Fawn." Stevens' third directed feature is his gnarliest thus far, and bodes well for the kind of original horror movie that fans have clamored for since the first jump scare.
The whole bloody affair of "A Wounded Fawn" concerns jaded museum curator Meredith Tanning (Sarah Lind) who lives out this writer's personal nightmare of jumping back into the dating pool only to find herself in a serial killer's living room.

Marrying two of the most exciting voices in contemporary horror — writer/director Travis Stevens and star Josh Ruben (himself an accomplished director) — Shudder’s “A Wounded Fawn” is a grainy, phantasmagoric trek into the woods and into the recesses of a serial killer’s mind. Sometimes feeling like two competing aesthetics fighting for primacy, “A Wounded Fawn” may not be as accomplished or coherent as Stevens’ and Ruben’s previous films.

Shudder has developed a knack for being one of the most well-curated streaming services out there. For as much as other services like Netflix or HBO Max have much more to offer in terms of quantity, to the subscriber, those offerings can feel like a ton of fluff. With Shudder, it is a more targeted, "less is more" approach. But that's not to say they don't have a little something for everyone. Case in point, within a small window of time, they can release a sweet vampire comedy like "Blood Relatives," then turn right around and release one of the weirdest movies of the year with "A Wounded Fawn," which just made its debut on the service.
Hailing from director Travis Stevens ("Jakob's Wife"), "A Wounded Fawn" follows the story of Meredith Tanning (Sarah Lind), a local museum curator who is dipping her toe back into the dating pool, only...

Shudder just dropped a December treat in the form of Travis Stevens' new surrealist cat-and-mouse horror film "A Wounded Fawn," starring Sarah Lind and Josh Ruben. After a successful run as a producer on genre documentaries such as "Jodorowsky's Dune" and memorable features like "Cheap Thrills" and "We Are Still Here," Stevens moved into the director's chair with the housebound thriller "Girl on the Third Floor" and the delightful vampire comedy "Jakob's Wife." For multiple reasons, "A Wounded Fawn" may be the most personal film Stevens has made to date, showcasing his passion for subversive art and mythology inside a classically structured story updated for modern horror audiences. Using the ancient Greek female archetypes of the Furies as a jumping-off point, "A Wounded Fawn" follows a sheltered museum curator (Lind) who finds her inner strength after doing battle with a charming art collector (Ruben) who turns out to be a serial killer.

Here's an important question: can you Kickstart a tabletop campaign as a holiday gift? With so many board games getting the crowdfunding treatment these days, there's something bittersweet about pledging a game to someone and having them wait 12-18 months for delivery. Sure, they may get a fancy title, but who knows if they'll even live nearby when the gift hits fulfillment?
The whole point is gifting games you want to play, right? Right.
Still. In this month's installment of Cardboard Cinema, we're breaking down some pretty big news in the world of tabletop. From popular television shows and video games going cardboard to a classic board game getting the Hollywood option, a lot happened this past November. It's the kind of thing that makes you want to go gifting — if you know that your friend group won't be breaking their lease anytime soon. You're not a saint, after all.

They say that those whom the gods wish to kill, they first make mad. Bruce (Josh Ruben) is such a man, a serial killer in the process of grooming his latest victim, Meredith (Sarah Lind). But what Bruce doesn’t know is that, in turn, he too is being stalked – by the Furies of Greek legend. A Wounded Fawn is a bold exercise in experimental filmmaking with expands upon a horror premise with elements of fantasy and dance. Its director, Travis Stevens, has worked as a producer for many years – we last spoke about his work on high octane heist thriller 68 Kill – so when we met to discuss this new project I asked him why, instead of playing it safe, he chose to make the leap into directing first with Jakob’s Wife and then with this.

The holiday season is now upon us, and it seems only right that we’re heading into December with a brand new Christmas-themed genre movie arriving in theaters later this week.

But that’s not the only new genre movie arriving this week…

Actor Noah Segan follows up “M.I.S.T..E.R.” his segment from last year’s Scare Package with his first feature, Blood Relatives, a comedy that proves blood, and the thirst for it, is thicker than water.
Francis (Noah Segan) is a vampire. He keeps to himself and travels the backroads trying to avoid attention. As a vampire without American identification, you could say Francis (Noah Segan) is an illegal immigrant regardless of the fact he’s lived in the country longer than anyone else currently alive with a legitimate birth certificate. Why he chooses to drive through red states in his vintage Barracuda while confusing Alex Jones-loving, conspiracy-theorizing yokels with Yiddish is therefore a mystery. This is the solitary bachelor life he’s chosen, though. And perhaps that part of the country is simply better suited for a nomadic lifestyle demanding a sense of secrecy considering the trail of bodies Francis inevitably leaves in his wake (animal meat makes him bloated). There’s also no shortage of racist criminals no one will miss for him to kill. Happiness is an unnecessary luxury. Survival is paramount.

"Have you ever experienced anything weird here before?" Shudder has revealed a trailer for A Wounded Fawn, which is described as an "artfully chaotic descent into bloodlust, monstrous misogyny, and euphoric comeuppances of the most punishing pleasures." The celebrated psychedelic horror film will be streaming on Shudder in December, after premiering at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. It also played at Fantastic Fest and FrightFest. A serial killer brings an unsuspecting victim on a weekend getaway to add another body to his ever-growing count. She's buying into his faux charms, he's eagerly lusting for blood. What could possibly go wrong? A Wounded Fawn marks the third feature directed by Travis Stevens (also of Girl on the Third Floor and Jakob's Wife), who has long been celebrated for his work as an indie producer. This stars Sarah Lind, Josh Ruben, and Malin Barr. Looks super freaky! A very uncomfortable watch.

A Wounded Fawn Trailer: A Killer Cat-And-Mouse Game With A Surrealist Twist Hits Shudder In December
If you haven't already noticed, Shudder has been on a roll with its original acquisitions this year. From "Mad God" to "Resurrection" and everything else in between, it has proven itself as the premier horror speciality streamer. Now, it looks to add to its increasingly demented collection with Travis Stevens' surrealist rollercoaster "A Wounded Fawn."
You think you might know where this movie is going based on the first half of its new trailer. An obviously creepy man (Josh Ruben) lures an art collector named Meredith (Sarah Lind) to his secluded cabin in the woods. When she realizes that he may have sinister motivations, their dangerous cat-and-mouse game commences. However, there's something much more sinister going on behind this conventional plot, if the bizarre imagery involving demons and snakes throughout the trailer proves anything.

"What do you want from me?!" "Everything!!" Shudder has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror comedy titled Blood Relatives, about a vampire on a road trip with his estranged daughter. This marks the feature directorial debut of actor Noah Segan, best known as "Kid Blue", appearing quite often in Rian Johnson films and plenty others. A vampire's loner lifestyle is thrown into disarray when a teenager shows up claiming to be his daughter, and she's got the fangs to prove it – on a road trip across America's blacktops, they decide how to sink their teeth into family life. Blood Relatives stars Noah Segan and Victoria Moroles, with Akasha Villalobos, C.L. Simpson, Ammie Masterson, Tracie Thoms, Jon Proudstar, & Josh Ruben. Hollywood has been trying to bring video games to the big screen since the mid-'90s and, admittedly, the results have been mixed. Sure, we've had franchises like "Resident Evil" pretty consistently do well at the box office, but what's been missing for most of that time is honest-to-God critical acclaim. But the tide has been turning in recent years with movies like "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Detective Pikachu." However, the tide turned dramatically in terms of acclaim in 2021 with the release of "Werewolves Within."
