The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has cast an ex-Game of Thrones star, months after another big GoT name dropped out.
It was announced on Monday (20 March) that three new actors will appear in the forthcoming season.
These include Rory Kinnear, Tanya Moodie and Irish actor Ciarán Hinds, who appeared in HBO series Thrones as Mance Rayder as well as the cable channel’s Rome, playing Julius Caesar.
His casting comes after Joseph Mawle, who played Benjen Stark in Thrones, quit the role of Adar following the conclusion of season one.
Mawle made his debut as the orc leader when the show, based on the work of Jrr Tolkien, was released on Prime Video in September.
He took centre stage as the series progressed, and by the end of the season, is shown to become “king of the Southlands” before changing the location’s name to...

In recent weeks Amazon has released a flurry of casting news for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season two. We have names of 15 actors who will join the Middle Earth cast: Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, Nicholas Woodeson, Sam Hazeldine, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, and Calam Lynch. But details about their roles are scarce.
The only specific character information that accompanied the casting updates was the shocking news that Hazeldine (“Peaky Blinders”) will be taking over the role of orc-daddy Adar from Joseph Mawle. With showrunner Patrick McKay previously teasing elder elf (and ring bearer) Cirdan the Shipwright arriving next season, that still leaves 13 new roles shrouded in mystery.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is saying goodbye to one of its most popular actors.
Joseph Mawle -- who played Adar, the leader of the Orcs -- is departing ahead of Season 2.
The role has been recast, with Peaky Blinders alum Sam Hazeldine taking over the role.
No reason has been given for the departure, but it is a huge blow to the series.
Mawle earned much praise for his portrayal of Adar, and there will undoubtedly be a lot of questions about how the character will fit into future storylines.
Amazon has also revealed that there will be even more new faces on the sprawling drama's second season.
Gabriel Akuwudike (Ridley Road), Yasen “Zates” Atour (The Witcher), Ben Daniels (The Crown), newcomer Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle (Persuasion), and Nicholas Woodeson (Rome)

Adar, played by Joseph Mawle, was introduced as the leader of the orcs in the third episode.
He took centre stage as the series progressed, and by the end of the season, becomes “king of the Southlands” before changing the location’s name to Mordor, a reveal that was criticised by fans.
While the series will bring Adar back for more in season two, it’s been revealed that Mawle will no longer play him.

Get ready to fire up those fan theories and a whole lot of reckless speculation, Tolkien nerds! The first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" successfully drew a whole new audience of diehards and casual fans alike to this refreshingly new story set in the wilds of Middle-earth and beyond, taking place thousands of years before the events told in J.R.R. Tolkien's novels and Peter Jackson's trilogy adaptation. Along the way, the Prime Video series propped up a number of season-long mysteries and kept viewers guessing along with the characters themselves about some of the big mystery-box reveals to come: Namely, who the heck was actually Sauron in disguise and whether that mysterious Stranger was, in fact, Gandalf himself.
By the end of the season, all those questions were answered ... but with such a big ensemble cast to follow and so much secrecy...

You don’t need immersive technologies like Dolby Cinema, Screen X or 4Dx to feel the effects of The Hustle. After 94 minutes without a single laugh, you’ll definitely feel the pain knowing that you’ve wasted time and money on this dreadful farce. Allegedly a remake of the far superior Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (which itself was a remake of Bedtime Story), the Chris Addison-directed picture credits four screenwriters and yet adds nothing to the original formula nor does it do anything exciting with a well-established genre built on double and triple crosses.
Of the four credited writers, two have passed on years ago, previously credited with Bedtime Story. Dale Launer received credit for this mess as the writer of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. This leaves Jac Schaeffer, the only new writer with a credit to bear the brunt of the shame for a picture that no doubt was conceived...

Even though Rachel Weisz was justly nominated for her turn in The Favourite this year, it’s still a shame that her even stronger work in Disobedience wasn’t given similar attention. Her performance in Sebastián Lelio’s movie, along with that of Rachel McAdams (not to mention Alessandro Nivola), is so moving and full, you can’t help but be blown away. Oscar ignored this film, but today, we won’t be… Here is a bit from our rave review published all the way back in April: When you’re an independent film, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle. That can especially be the case when opening up early on in...

Tom Hardy’s Taboo has headed for China after Alibaba and Youku struck deals for the FX and BBC drama.
The two companies struck the deals for the period thriller with The Media Pioneers, a UK-China media group run by Managing Director Maggie Liang. It will air on the digital platforms of both firms.
Produced by Scott Free London and Hardy Son & Baker and starring Tom Hardy, Taboo aired on BBC One in the UK and FX in the Us in 2017. Both broadcasters revealed in March 2017 that they were working on a second season of the show while Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight, who created the series with Hardy and his dad Chips Hardy, told Deadline last year that he had plans for three seasons.
Set in 1814, the first season follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed.

Chicago – The director Sebastían Lelio is no stranger to oddball human stories. His 2017 film, “A Fantastic Woman” – the Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film – was a one-of-a-kind but amazingly poignant story of identity. His latest, “Disobedience,” mines the same human territory with lesser results.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
The film is based on a novel by Naomi Alderman, and this is another film in the latest trend to infiltrate the world of Orthodox Jews (like the recent “Menashe” and upcoming “To Dust”). The two Rachels – Weisz and McAdams – portray lovers brought together again through the circumstance of the death of a Orthodox rabbi… who happens to be the father of Weisz’s character. The return of that character to her roots upsets the delicate balance of the closed society. The key and centerpiece lesbian relationship is entirely distracting to the larger themes of the story, not helped by the two familiar performers playing out the affair.

When you’re an independent film, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle. That can especially be the case when opening up early on in the year and/or against a massive blockbuster movie. This week, we have a truly wonderful indie opening up against a true behemoth. The latter is obviously Avengers: Infinity War, though the former is Disobedience. A well liked title last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, it’s also currently playing at the Tribeca Film Festival. It’s tremendously good and honestly one of my favorites of 2018 so far. If you’re not looking for comic book fare, you have a top notch other option to consider. Read on to find out why… The film is a romantic drama. Distributor Bleeker Street describes it as such: “From a screenplay by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the film follows a woman as she...

"We all thought we'd never see you again." Bleecker Street Films has unveiled the first official trailer for a romantic drama titled Disobedience, the latest film from Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, who also made the Oscar-nominated film A Fantastic Woman last year. This first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and will hit limited theaters this April. Disobedience stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams as forbidden Jewish lovers. Weisz plays Ronit, an Orthodox Jew who goes home to London, where she meets with a childhood friend and rediscovers her feelings for her. The cast includes Alessandro Nivola, Anton Lesser, Nicholas Woodeson, Cara Horgan, and Allan Corduner. This looks like it might be splendid. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Sebastián Lelio's Disobedience, direct from YouTube: A woman (Rachel Weisz) returns to her Orthodox Jewish home after the death of her rabbi father and stirs up controversy when she...
