Get ready to say goodbye to the First Son of Texas.
In the official trailer for the second and final season of AMC’s “The Son,” which is exclusive to TheWrap, Eli McCullough is dealing with a whole mess of family trouble both in his past and his present. And then the Pierce Brosnan-led Western drama goes and drops another timeline into the mix to stir the pot even more during its final batch of episodes.
Watch the video above.
Here’s the official description for Season 2, per AMC:
Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan) will stop at nothing to secure his legacy against the backdrop of the nascent oil industry of 1917. His tools are deceit, fraud and murder — weapons he wields with the effortless skill of the Comanche warrior he once was. But the biggest challenge he faces will be quelling a civil war under his own roof, triggered by...

Here’s your first look at the new trailer and posters for Richard Linklater’s college-theme movie Everybody Wants Some. This follow-up film arrives more than 20 years after the original and is the “spiritual sequel” to Dazed And Confused.
The movie will make its World Premiere on Friday, March 11, 2016 during the 23rd edition of the SXSW Film Festival.
Linklater says of his new film, “If you look at Mitch, Wiley Wiggins’s character in Dazed who pitches in that pony league game, this is him, four years later, going off to college. Say he got better at baseball and he’s off to college. It would be right then — 1980.” He adds, “I’m reclaiming songs like ‘Rapper’s Delight’ and ‘My Sharona’ – you know, songs from ’79 and’80 that people have been making fun of for a while. I’m back to the original intent of those songs, like what they felt like then.

Quick hit pointer for fans of The Leftovers. HBO sent us a fresh new full trailer and some images for the upcoming second season of The Leftovers.
I’m not caught up on The Leftovers and will have to get back to it, but I think I have to be in a pretty specific mindset. To put it in McFly terms, The Leftovers is really heavy, and I was looking forward to the next/new Damon Lindelof television project.
Might have to get my The Leftovers season 1 binge on soon and catch up.
For people just like me, HBO added a synopsis:
The Leftovers: More than three years ago, 2% of the world’s population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero. This is the setting for a tale of...

Chicago – It is a story as old as show business itself. Plucky understudy replaces a Broadway musical lead on the same night a movie director decides to take in the play, which results in the understudy getting his first movie role. It happened exactly like that to stage – and now screen – performer Jeremy Jordan, who made his debut over the weekend in the film “Joyful Noise.”
Jordan is from Texas, and headed to New York City right after graduating from Ithaca College. After doing some regional theater, he moved up to the Broadway cast of “Rock of Ages” in 2009, where he was discovered for the movies (story below). He recently starred in the musical version of “Bonnie & Clyde” on Broadway, which closed in December of 2011 after only 69 performances. His portrayal of Jack Kelly during the tryout run of the new stage musical “Newsies” (based on the 1992 Disney film), landed him...

Chicago – The old fashioned musical has gotten a boost from the recent popularity of “Glee” and other singing shows. It was inevitably that the marriage of the gospel choir and the movie musical would take place, and writer/director Todd Graff (”Camp”) is the matchmaker in “Joyful Noise.”
Rating: 3.0/5.0
Pairing Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton as members of a small-town competitive gospel group, “Joyful Noise” does just fine when breaking into song, but anytime the plot invades the proceedings, the atmosphere produces a sour note. Graff simply pours too many story elements into the musical stew, which is flat and bland when maneuvering through the various small town rivalries, and only produces steam whenever the gospel and other songs are performed.
The film opens with the gospel choir from a small town Georgia church competing in a regional singing competition. Choir director Bernard (Kris Kristofferson) falls ill at the show,...

Chicago – What do Robert Duvall and Melissa Leo have in common? They both have won an Oscar and they both cashed a paycheck for the fake virtuous hack job called “Seven Days in Utopia.” For Duvall especially, maybe the mortgage payment is due on the vacation home.
Rating: 1.5/5.0
Utopia takes a unholy sport, golf, and tries to bless it with some sort of come-to-Jesus importance that ends up being embarrassing for all involved (again, especially Duvall). In a story that only could be invented in the mind of a feverish Christian golf addict, Utopia can only exist within that segment of the United States population who long for something this country has never had.
Luke Chisholm (Lucas Black) is a rising Texas golf pro who flakes out on the final hole of a Lone Star State golf tournament that he has well in hand. He takes some bad advice from his caddie,...

In HBO's February biopic, Temple Grandin, Claire Danes worked with an amazing cast that included Julia Ormond, David Strathairn, and Catherine O'Hara to tell the true story of the scientist whose own autism allowed her unique insights into the behavior of cows and other livestock. But Danes says she was just as charmed by her bovine costars. "They had long lashes and were so sweet,"Danes recalls. "They were referred to as the HBO Cows because it was cheaper for HBO to buy them than rent them. So I dressed on Halloween as an HBO Cow. With an extension chord as a tail.

Chicago – Following Lisa Kudrow’s wildly successful, 10-year run as Phoebe Buffay on 238 episodes of “Friends,” the 46-year-old Encino, Calif. native is hardly the spacey blonde from 1997’s “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion”. In fact, she earned her degree in psychobiology from Vassar College in New York.
But since her Emmy-winning “Friends” fame and in speaking with her today, you now get the sense that she’s splitting her time between TV work (i.e. with 27 episodes of “Web Therapy” over the past year), various films and perhaps most important mothering.
