Welcome to the island of St Jory, population: one less than there used to be.
A year ago, St Jory teenager Cai Prideaux went missing and the police did very little about it. Now there’s a new sheriff in town in Sgt Grace Narayan (Anjli Mohindra), an outsider with an unbending belief in the letter of the law that’s ruffling feathers among the locals. The islanders, you see, are used to running things their own way. The True Way.
That’s the Hot Fuzz-meets-The Wicker Man premise for The Red King, an original six-part series written by Being Human creator Toby Whithouse and directed by Daniel O’Hara and Lisa Clarke. It’s a crime drama/folk horror mash-up that uses murder mystery trappings to tell a story about religion, insularity and national identity.
St Jory is your typical folk horror island in that there’s nothing typical about it.

It will be worth it. That’s what the first two seasons of Good Omens have taught us as we await the third to return. The Prime Video series, based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett and now expanding on that story, began by following the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) over the leading up to their attempt to stop Armageddon after the birth of the antichrist. The second season moved beyond the book and saw Aziraphale and Crowley hiding the amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from both Heaven and Hell before it ended in heartbreak. We know it will be some time before we find out what happens next, so below, we’re gathering everything we know about the future of Good Omens, including teases we got from Gaiman. Where Did Good Omens Season 2 Leave Crowley & Aziraphale?...

It’s a pretty great time to be a Neil Gaiman fan. Technically, it’s always a great time to be a Neil Gaiman fan, but it’s almost certainly never felt more fun than at this precise moment.
Good Omens, The Sandman, and American Gods have all been adapted for television within the past five years, each with a rather astonishing degree of accuracy and faithfulness-–certainly to the spirit, if not always the letter of the author’s most popular works. This past week saw the release of The Book of Clarence, a movie about a down-on-his-luck guy who hits upon a get-rich-quick scheme that leads him into a heap of trouble. It’s a classic topic for a movie, but it is treading on more controversial ground than usual. Because in the case of this story about a hustler getting in over his head, the hustle happens to be set around Israel and Palestine during the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth. In fact, that is Clarence’s whole scheme: He sees Jesus and decides to get into the messiah business.
This is not the first film to portray the story of one of Jesus’ fictional contemporaries. Monty Python’s Life of Brian attracted protests, controversy, and endless talk show guest slots over its portrayal of a man who was definitely not the messiah, just a very naughty boy.

When Paul Thomas Anderson went against the industry grain and cast Adam Sandler as the lead in his fourth feature, "Punch Drunk Love," many people in Hollywood felt the brashly talented filmmaker's ego had inflated to Welles-ian proportions. After the dazzling excess of "Magnolia" (which was more divisive at the time than it is now), there was a sense that he was provoking for provocation's sake. Outside of Steven Seagal, it's possible there wasn't a more critically loathed star in America — and it wasn't just the movies they hated. They detested him. They considered him a charisma vacuum who needed someone as irresistibly lovable as Drew Barrymore to render his presence in a film tolerable.
Anderson shattered these misconceptions. Though Sandler didn't dive headlong into dramas after "Punch Drunk Love," he'd take on a non-comedic part every few years and remind us of his untapped potential — which he fully realized...

Some good comes with some bad. Prime Video has announced a Season 3 renewal for its fan-favorite series “Good Omens,” starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen. However, the third season will be its last.
While the British comedy series was initially launched as a limited series, its popularity led to it being renewed for a second season, which premiered this past July. The story follows fussy angel and rare book dealer Aziraphale (Sheen) and fast-living demon Crowley (Tennant), who team up to form an unlikely alliance in an attempt to stop the approaching Armageddon.
Watch the trailer for “Good Omens” Season 2 below:

David Tennant and Michael Sheen are back in the third series of Good Omens, here are the details.
Neil Gaiman’s television adaptation of his and Terry Pratchett’s fantasy series Good Omens has been hugely successful these past few years, not least due to the chemistry and charisma of leading duo David Tennant and Michael Sheen. The second series, which debuted in August, was reported to be the number one show on Amazon Prime worldwide, and the first season was hardly struggling for acclaim, either.
A third series commission has been on the cards for a while, with the caveat that producer, director and co-showrunner Douglas Mackinnon would not be returning.
However, that hasn’t stopped Amazon pressing ahead with the third and final series.
While plot details are thin on the ground, we do know that David Tennant and Michael Sheen will be reprising their roles as fast-living...

The tale of the Ineffable Husbands isn't over just yet. Amazon has officially picked up "Good Omens" for a third and final season, with Neil Gaiman once again serving as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. For Gaiman, in particular, season 3 will offer him a chance to complete the story that he and the late, great Terry Pratchett -- his co-writer on the original "Good Omens" novel and the Aziraphale to his Crowley -- first began plotting out nearly 35 years ago.
After canceling the apocalypse in season 1, the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) spent most of "Good Omens" season 2 trying to uncover how Aziraphale's old boss, the archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm), came to find his way to Aziraphale's bookshop on Earth devoid of memories, clothes, and his not-so-winning smug personality. Amazon has renewed the popular fantasy comedy series Good Omens for a third and final season.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant star in the adaptation of the best-selling novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The end of the world is really coming this time: “Good Omens” has been renewed for a third and final season at Amazon.
Created by Neil Gaiman and based on the novel co-written by Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, “Good Omens” follows the friendship between the fussy angel and rare-book dealer Aziraphale and fast-living demon Crowley, a pair of apocalypse-fighting, millennia-long best friends played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, respectively.
The first season of the series debuted on Amazon’s Prime Video in 2019. At the time, it was intended as a limited series. But the show was renewed for a second season in 2021, which is when Gaiman revealed he had hatched the idea for a sequel with Pratchett before his death in 2015.
The second season debuted in July — amid the now-ended writers and actors strikes — and ended on a massive cliffhanger that suggested Gaiman had more planned before this heavenly tale was done.

Despite what Hollywood wants us to believe, not every movie ever made needs a sequel. This did not stop the studios from trying their hardest to churn them out, leaving movie fans with only one solution: forget the sequel exists. It’s a useful technique, but, ironically, it doesn’t work on the worst films. We can say to each other, for example, that Highlander II: The Quickening never happened all we want. In our broken, battered souls though, we know it exists. And it sucks so much. The memory endures, like a cinematic kidney stone.
Trying to forget works best on sequels so middling, or cynically shoveled out that there’s not much for our memories to grab on to. If we do remember them, it’s with a befuddled “how the hell did that happen?” or a “they got A-list actors for that?” kind of awe. And then we forget about them again.

You can’t buy Terry Pratchett’s first novel – or rather, you can, but it will cost you. A first edition of the original 1971 version of The Carpet People will set you back somewhere between £400 and £1000; Forum Auctions have one on sale with a guide price of £400 – £600. You can, of course, buy the current version of the book, and “first editions” of that one might be going for less than £5. But that is the version that was edited and re-published in 1992, after the original had gone out of print. And it is not quite the same book.
In his introduction to the 1992 revised edition, Pratchett said The Carpet People “had two authors, and they were both the same person”. When the Discworld novels began to sell and demand for Pratchett’s debut novel went up, he told the publishers that he needed to do some re-writes, and the resulting new...

When people talk about "True Detective" season 1, they naturally tend to focus on its broody atmosphere and memorable quotes. As such, it's easy to forget just how funny the first season is thanks to the oil-and-water dynamic between Matthew McConaughey's relentless gloomy Rustin "Rust" Cohle and his everyman fellow state homicide detective Martin "Marty" Hart (Woody Harrelson). Just the dismayed expressions on Marty's face every time Rust goes off on another one of his bleak philosophical diatribes are pure comedic gold.
We're lucky, then, that "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto ultimately decided against telling Rust and Marty's story in a written medium rather than a visual one. During a panel at the Austin Film Festival attended by /Film's Ryan Scott, Pizzolatto recalled that he came up with the idea for his acclaimed crime drama back when he was a novelist and short story writer, prior to getting his start...

In October 2023, Deadline hinted that a renewal would soon be made official.
The outlet said that options on the cast, led by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, had been picked up.
That typically means that a show is in active negotiations about a pickup.

If there’s a Good Omens Season 3, a major change will occur. Douglas Mackinnon, who was co-showrunner, director, and executive producer for the first two seasons, will not be returning, he announced in the comments of a post of his on Instagram. “Challenge accepted: To all professionals in the television/film world, join the challenge to post a photo of you in your job. Just a picture, no description. The goal is to flood social media with our profession and raise awareness of the current struggles,” he wrote in the caption of a photo that showed the Good Omens set. In response to a fan commenting, “Please, please keep the set up after S3 is done and let us come visit it!!” Mackinnon then wrote, “I’m not involved with this show anymore.” Neil Gaiman, who created the series based on his and Terry Pratchett’s book, confirmed that on...

It took four years for the second season of Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens to arrive, but hopefully, the wait won’t be quite so long for season 3.
Deadline reports that it’s “looking good” that Amazon and the BBC will renew Good Omens for a third season, which will likely be the last for the fantasy series. However, Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director, and co-showrunner of the first two seasons, won’t be returning for Good Omens season 3. Mackinnon confirmed his exit on Instagram after posting a photo from the set. In response to a fan, he stated, “I’m not involved with this show anymore.” A fan asked Neil Gaiman what was going on, and he said “Douglas has moved on to other projects.“

Prime Video’s Good Omens may very well return for Season 3, and if it does, it’ll be short one showrunner.
Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner on the first two seasons of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy comedy, confirmed his exit on Instagram in the comments of a photo taken from the set. When fans guessed that the pic was from Good Omens, he replied, “I’m not involved with this show anymore.”

Neil Gaiman fantasy series Good Omens is looking good to land a Season 3 renewal by Amazon and the BBC, I hear. In anticipation of the order for what will likely be the show’s last chapter, the options on the series’ main cast, led by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, have been picked up, sources said.
Not returning for Season 3 is Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner on the first two seasons.
Mackinnon revealed his departure from Good Omens on Instagram. Answering an ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike-related challenge to film/TV professionals to post a photo of themselves on the job, he ran an image from the set of the Prime Video/BBC Two series.
While he did not identify the production, fans recognized the set and started a Good Omens discussion in the comments section to which Mackinnon responded, “I’m not involved with this show anymore.

The author Terry Pratchett, who has a quote for everything, once said this about Lord of the Rings: “J.R.R. Tolkien has become a sort of mountain, appearing in all subsequent fantasy in the way that Mt. Fuji appears so often in Japanese prints. Sometimes it’s big and up close. Sometimes it’s a shape on the horizon. Sometimes it’s not there at all, which means that the artist either has made a deliberate decision against the mountain, which is interesting in itself, or is in fact standing on Mt. Fuji.”
Molli and Max in the Future, the debut feature by Michael Lukk Litwak, is indeed standing on a mountain, and in this case – because this is a romantic comedy, not a fantasy – that mountain is When Harry Met Sally. It might be set in the future, it might have interstellar craft, robots, fish people, black holes, space...

This article contains spoilers for "Good Omens" season 2.
If you watched "Good Omens" season 2 when it debuted in July, chances are you've spent the last several weeks humming the same song as a few million other fans of the show. Buddy Holly's "Everyday" is the unofficial theme song of the fantasy comedy series' second season, and it's an earworm that's both impossible to shake and too fun to even want to.
"Everyday" first appeared in the sophomore season trailer, and seemed to be hinting towards some sort of countdown. "Every day/it's a-gettin' closer," Holly sings -- but what's the "it" in question? The apocalypse? An answer to the question of Gabriel's sudden appearance on earth? A big old smooch between the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen). The answer turned out to be two of the three, but within the show's story, the...

Commentary‘Good Omens’ Season 2 delivers not only on its promise of a whimsical adventure but also on the desire for deeper queer storylines and representation.Good Omens returns with a delightful Season 2 that continues to explore the heartwarming bond between angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant). The chemistry between the lead actors is as strong as ever and remains the driving force of the show. Season 2 picks up with the sudden appearance of Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) at Aziraphale’s doorstep, leading to an adventure that Heaven and Hell cannot ignore. Good Omens is based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s hit 1990 novel, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. While plans for a sequel had been discussed between the prolific writers, Pratchett’s passing in 2015 left fans uncertain about its realisation. However, Gaiman’s determination prevailed and this time, he collaborated...

When the late author Terry Pratchett, and Rob Wilkins – then his personal assistant, now head of Pratchett’s literary estate – visited a Somerset school to see a production based on one of Pratchett’s novels, they were met with a surprise.
“There’s a school in Bruton, just north of where we live and we were invited along for a school play” remembers Wilkins, speaking to Den of Geek on the set of the Good Omens TV series on which he serves as Executive Producer. “We were sitting in the Headmaster’s office. The Head of Drama came to see us and was going to take me and Terry along to go into the school hall where everyone was present, ready to put on a performance of Johnny and the Dead.

The set for season two of Good Omens is a complete entity – you can walk up and down Whickber Street, browse the record shop, the magic shop, and of course Aziraphale’s bookshop, and even stop for a coffee at Give Me Coffee Or Give Me Death. It has a genuinely magical feel to it, and an extraordinary amount of care has gone into making every detail part of the show’s world. Take a walk with us, and we’ll explore just a few of its hidden secrets.
Aziraphale’s Bookshop: Crossroads, a Compass & Cocoa
After you’ve got off the Number 666 bus to Soho Square and admired the Bentley parked in the street, you will probably want to dive straight in to Aziraphale’s bookshop. Filled with over 7,000 real books, you can smell the wonderful, papery scent as soon as you walk in.

This post contains spoilers for "Good Omens" season 2.
Season 2 of "Good Omens" is a total delight -- until it suddenly isn't. Now that the show's sophomore season has been on Prime Video long enough for fans of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel to speed through it and dry their tears, it's worth talking about the promotion in the middle of the room. The season ends with a surprise about-face: A massive fight that puts a stop to the flourishing relationship between angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant). It comes after the bookshop-owning angel accepts a new gig in heaven, where he thinks he'll be able to change the system from the inside out. Crowley vehemently disagrees, and the two share a bittersweet kiss before parting ways in the season's shockingly depressing final moments.

Considering the four year gap between seasons 1 and 2 of "Good Omens," it's easy to see why some fans are frustrated by the season 2 finale. After two seasons of slowly building up to a romance between its two leads, "Chapter 6: Every Day" chooses to split them apart, seemingly for good. Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) decides to take up the fancy new job as Archangel, and Crowley (David Tennant) refuses to go with him and reclaim his old status as an angel. It's a dark end to a season that otherwise seemed to be building up to a happy finale.
Luckily, Neil Gaiman and the other writers involved already have plans for a third season, one that'll presumably bring our two favorite supernatural beings back together. "Season 3 is all planned and plotted and, if I get to make it, will take the story to a satisfying end. If I wasn't on strike I'd be writing it currently,...

“If you’re going to burn it down, you should have told us!” laughs Good Omens set decorator Bronwyn Franklin, explaining why the set for Aziraphale’s bookshop is, by her estimation, “five to 10 per cent” different this time around.
“We never realised it’d be a second series, because it was one book, one Good Omens series. And then everyone loved it so much that Amazon said we really want another.” The surprise series renewal meant redressing the bookshop set from scratch, after it was burned down by an errant candle at the end of season one, episode four. (Hence Aziraphale’s preference for electric candles in the second run.)
Is that particular set still standing by the end of season two? “It’s all still here,” confirms Franklin. “It doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll ever make anything again,” she says as a caveat, but this time around at least,...

Created by “Loki’s” Michael Waldron and with Mike O’Malley as showrunner, the series is bigger and better in Season 2, which premieres Friday at 10/9c, as it digs further into the brothers’ respective traumas and the ongoing feud between the Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl) and rival promotion Florida Wrestling Dystopia (Fwd), led by O’Malley’s Charlie Gully. This post contains spoilers for "Good Omens" season 2.
For six millennia, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant) have been in a slow-burn romance. Despite never uttering "I love you" aloud, it's a dance they both know well throughout the eons of the Prime Video-BBC apocalyptic comedy "Good Omens," based on the 1990 novel by Neil Gaiman (showrunner and writer) and the late Terry Pratchett. In perhaps the great celestial opposites-attract rom-com, Aziraphale is a cheerful do-gooding angel just as the fallen angel Crowley is a mischievous abrasive demon. They might pretend to be mortal enemies, but they take pleasure in collaborating and chattering on Earth. As seen in season 2, they often work to rescue mortals (like rescuing Job's children) or indulge in mortal antics.
After the season 1 finale, their excommunication from their respective offices seems to liberate them from their obligations. These Ineffable Boyfriends, though, get their relationship...

Spoiler Alert: This recap contains spoilers from the Season 2 finale of “Good Omens,” now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
In the 2006 reprinted edition of Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett’s 1990 classic “Good Omens,” the co-authors did a Q&a in which they answered the question “Why isn’t there a sequel?” like this:
“We played around with ideas, but we could never work up the enthusiasm. Besides, we wanted to do other things. Recently, though, we’ve both been wondering if ‘never again’ is set in stone. So there might be a sequel one day. Maybe. Perhaps. Who knows? We don’t.”
Well, now we do know, because on July 28, Amazon Prime Video dropped the second season of its TV adaptation of “Good Omens,” which sees Michael Sheen and David Tennant reprise their roles as apocalypse-fighting, millennia-long best friends: the fussy angel and rare-book dealer Aziraphale and fast-living demon Crowley.

This post contains spoilers for "Good Omens" season 2.
So much for happy endings, huh? Now that we've finished burning through the second season of Neil Gaiman's Prime Video adaptation of "Good Omens," it's time to regroup and process exactly what just went down in the six-episode continuation of Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale's (Michael Sheen) story. In this case, that most likely means screaming at God (or Gaiman) about the show's abrupt pivot from a fluffy, rom-com story into an angst-riddled drama in the last ten minutes. Luckily, though, Crowley and Aziraphale's big breakup seems to be an unhappy middle to a still-unfolding story.
The first five episodes of the new season were giddy and adorable, like the TV equivalent of walking on a cloud even at their darkest moments. Sure, there were obstacles in the way of Aziraphale and Crowley's domestic bliss, but the amnesiac Gabriel (Jon Hamm...

Following the success of its premiere offering, “Good Omens” has returned to Prime Video for a second season, and the four-year wait between courses has done little to wane fans’ excitement.
The first season was based on the hit 1990 novel “Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch,” by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The prolific writers had long discussed ideas for a sequel, yet nothing had been fully realized at the time of Pratchett’s death in 2015. After writing the script for the first season alone, Gaiman teamed up with writer John Finnemore this time around to create fresh material, strongly influenced by his former talks with Pratchett.
David Tennant returns as fallen angel-turned-demon Crowley, with Michael Sheen reprising the role of law-abiding angel Aziraphale. Much like in Season 1, the unlikely pair have their own way of doing things, joining forces in their effort to make...

If you’re new to Good Omens, now’s the time to catch up: this fantasy series is based on the 1990 book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and stars a demon, Crowley and an angel, Aziraphale who are unlikely best buds/soulmates.
Season one saw them try to prevent the end of the world after the antichrist is born, and as for season two? Well, Crowley and Aziraphale are only just getting used to being exiled from their respective heavenly/hellish bosses when Aziraphale’s former boss, Archangel Gabriel turns up dazed, confused and totally nude. It’s up to...

Good Omens season two is a story of friendship and love and, to quote Terry Pratchett’s Moving Pictures, “Passione in a Worlde Gone Madde!” Gorgeous-looking, perfectly cast, and full of joy, it’s like a warm hug and a mug of hot chocolate… with a little macabre horror and sketch show comedy bobbing beneath the surface.
Good Omens season one was based on a standalone novel written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, which meant that it was a complete story. That’s why most of its characters and plotlines – Adam and pals, Agnes Nutter, Anathema and the Four Motorcycle Riders of the Apocalypse – don’t appear in season two.
But more than any of those, Good Omens season one was the story of the friendship between the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale. They’re the true protagonists of the book, and indisputably the stars of the TV show,...

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the first season of Good Omens without having any knowledge about the book it is based on by Neil Gaiman-Terry Pratchett or religious history, I thoroughly enjoyed this show about a bickering angel and demon. If you haven’t seen or heard about this show before, I blame Prime for not showing enough interest in marketing this hilarious masterclass in religious satire.
Season one was fantastic from start to finish, and we got introduced to Crowley and Aziraphale, the demon and angel that find that they’re a perfect match on Earth. Without spoilers, there’s a particular problem that these two take upon themselves to solve, and by the end of season 1, they do so. So, the second season begins on a completely new note. This time around, we learn more about the relationship between this not-so-evil demon and this not-so-good angel...

In the second season of “Good Omens,” which hits Prime Video on Friday, Michael Sheen’s angel Aziraphale and David Tennant’s demon Crowley team up again to help angel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) who shows up at Aziraphale’s book shop with no memory — and no clothes.
And, for complicated reasons, they must also try to make two local shopkeepers fall in love, which proves to be much more difficult that they imagine.
As Sheen told TheWrap (in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began), “It turns out trying to make two people love each other is as hard, if not harder, than averting the apocalypse.”
Added Tennant, “They think that it’s gonna take seconds, and everything else will fall into place. But of course, humans and all their rich tapestry of contradictions that they are gets in the way.”
The matchmaking targets are Maggie (Maggie Service), who...
