Jet frontman Nic Cester revealed in a recent interview that he auditioned to be the singer of AC/DC in 2016. The job eventually went to Axl Rose, but Cester has quite a story to tell his grandkids one day.
Twenty years ago, Jet were the hottest rock export out of Australia, with hits like “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” and “Cold Hard Bitch” featuring a sound that melded the power of fellow Aussies AC/DC with the garage-rock stylings of The White Stripes.

As Cester told Australian radio station Triple J, he got the call to audition for the vacant AC/DC singer slot when Brian Johnson had to step away from the band due to hearing issues.

“I mean, there’s just nothing that can prepare you for the experience of Drag Race, because it is an experience of its own,” Season 16 queen Q said during a panel at Deadline’s Contenders TV: Documentary + Unscripted awards-season event.
After 16 seasons, MTV’s RuPaul’s Drag Race still manages to keep contestants and viewers on their toes — even when they’ve been vying for a spot for years, like Season 16 queen Sapphira Cristál.
“I auditioned for RuPaul’s Drag Race 11 times, and so I had a lot of time to prepare,” she said, explaining that each rejection only made her want it more. She used every year that passed as an opportunity to improve her craft in some way — whether it be her looks, her dance moves, her sewing even her mental health.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 concluded on April 19 with the sixteenth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Vying for the crown in the “Grand Finale” were three finalists: New York’s Nymphia Wind, Boston’s Plane Jane, and Philadelphia’s Sapphira Cristál.
Previously in episode 15, the eliminated queens returned to compete in a first ever “LipSync Lalaparuza Smackdown – Reunited” episode. Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen, but for the three finalists of season 16 she’s sitting down to chat ahead of the April 19 “Grand Finale.” Nymphia Wind describes her origins in drag and the birth of her obsession with yellow that created the fashion icon we saw on the runway. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Nymphia finally gets a chance to open up about where her obsession with the color yellow and bananas came from. She explains that she wore a yellow outfit once in 2020, fell in love with it, and then eventually paired the color with the “phallic” and “camp” image of bananas. She also tells Michelle how she took inspiration from her mom who moved to Italy to study Italian when deciding to make her big move from...

Mother’s Day weekend 2019 marked a turning point in the young life of Madhuri Shekar.
It all started two years before with a phone call from a woman named Kate Navin, then head of theater for Audible. Navin said she’d recently been armed with money to develop original works from emerging play- wrights, and she was calling to offer Shekar, just a year out of Juilliard, the chance to write. The only catch: Shekar’s play would have to be crafted as an audio-only production.
Shekar’s answer to this challenge was “Evil Eye,” a 100-minute potboiler that revolves around daily telephone conversations between a mother in India and a daughter in Los Angeles. The finished play was released on Audible in May 2019. For Shekar, the impact on her career was immediate. Within weeks, she was negotiating a deal with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Blumhouse for the movie version...

The upcoming show “Daredevil: Born Again” is getting a lot of attention, both because fans are really excited and because it’s had some problems during production, like strikes and disagreements over the direction of the show.
It’s still a bit of a mystery how much this new show will link to the Daredevil series on Netflix, and not much is known about the story. What we do know is Daredevil starts a new law firm, will fight a villain named Muse, and Wilson Fisk is trying to become mayor. A few characters from the Netflix series, like Foggy played by Elden Henson and Karen played by Deborah Ann Woll, were seen on set, so it looks like they’re coming back. For a while, people weren’t sure if Jon Bernthal’s Punisher would make a comeback because of all the secrecy around the show and Bernthal’s mixed messages.

Jake Gyllenhaal is one of Hollywood’s finest. Having made his debut as a child actor, he has been nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performances in Nightcrawler (2014) and Nocturnal Animals (2016). He’s also an ultimate prankster.

A Good Family, season 1. Anna (Maria Sid) and Henrik (Samuli Edelmann). Courtesy of MHz Choice
The title of the six-episode Finnish drama, “A Good Family (Musta valo),” must have been meant ironically, since the leads may try to be one but fall well short of the goal line. Anna (Maria Sid) is a top police detective; hubby Henrik (Samuli Edelmann) is a former crime novelist who turned to teaching aspiring writers. They have two sons – adult Niko (Elias Salonen), who can’t steer clear of the “friends” who’d landed him in jail; and young Mikael (Paavo Usvola), who is adorable between panic attacks. The season covers Niko’s latest misdeed and his parents’ increasingly dubious efforts to protect him in what’s meant to be a thriller.

The upcoming MCU project, ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ is stirring up a lot of buzz. Fans are eagerly anticipating it, but its production has faced its share of challenges, including strikes and clashes over creative direction between the showrunners and the studio.
Details about the plot are sparse, but we know that Daredevil will be embarking on a new journey, setting up a law practice while trying to redefine himself. Meanwhile, Kingpin, one of his archenemies, is vying for the position of mayor in New York, a plot point teased in the post-credits scenes of ‘Echo.’
Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning, but he might not be the main antagonist this time around. Rumors suggest that Muse, a villain from Marvel Comics—a twisted serial killer who turns his victims into gruesome art—will take on that role. Muse’s true identity and powers remain shrouded in mystery, but his unyielding ego...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on February 16 with episode 7 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the 10 remaining queens sang and danced their way through the Rusical “The Sound of Rusic.” The four safe queens this week, Plane Jane, Nymphia Wind, Xunami Muse and Dawn, were the first to return to the Werk Room while the tops and bottoms received critiques from the judges.
Relieved to be safe in one of the notoriously difficult challenges, the four queens realized that the top three were likely Sapphira Cristál, Q and Plasma and if Morphine Love Dion deserves a safe spot that would leave Megami and Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige in the bottom. Jane brought out her shade card when she referred to Plasma’s look in the Rusical as “rancid” and then...

The past year posed challenges for the much-anticipated ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Despite high expectations, the show’s development faced hurdles, including the impact of the historic SAG-AFTRA strike and creative differences between the studio’s vision and the writers’ delivery. This led to a major overhaul of the first season in late September 2023, with head writers Corman and Ord, as well as the initial directors, being replaced.
Dissatisfaction with the direction, particularly a departure from the Netflix version and delays in featuring Daredevil in costume prompted the studio’s decision. The new direction aimed to incorporate existing footage, introduce new serialized elements, and align more closely with the tone of the Netflix series. Corman and Ord retained executive producer credits, while Dario Scardapane, known for his involvement in Netflix’s ‘The Punisher,’ became the new showrunner in October 2023. Vincent D’Onofrio Shares Updates Regarding ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Filming: “We’re Gonna Start Soon”
The past year has been difficult for the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born again’. Despite ‘Born Again’ being highly awaited, the development of the show was not without problems. Like most projects, it was also affected by the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, and, at some point, the creative differences between what the studio wanted and what the writers delivered grew to be too big, and ‘Daredevil’ was once again in development.
In late September 2023, Marvel Studios decided to overhaul the first season of the series after filming fewer than half of its episodes. Spoiler Alert: This contains spoilers from the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 16.
Charlize Theron expressed her strong support for the drag community in her debut as a guest judge on the season premiere of MTV’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
In the opening episode of Season 16, the Oscar-winning actor and longtime LGBTQ told the queens that the groundswell of efforts to curb the rights of drag performers is driven by fear and ignorance.
“Given the climate in our country right now, there’s a lot of energy being put toward your community not existing. I truly believe that all of that is coming from a place of fear,” Theron told the contenders on the long-running competition series. “The beauty of what your community brings and the truth of who you are and represent will come out. Don’t give up.”
Contender Xuname Muse, daughter of Kandy Muse, praised Theron for speaking out.

This article contains spoilers for the Oct. 31 episode of “Dancing With the Stars”
The nine remaining couples on “Dancing With the Stars” hit the dance floor in costume as vampires, werewolves and skeletons on Tuesday night, which also happened to be Halloween.
The season’s first dance marathon gave the points edge to Marvel star Xochitl Gomez, who had been tied at the top of the leaderboard with “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix after their solo dances.
For her gothic Argentine Tango, Madix was a harpy and Pasha Pashkov was a harpy slayer as they danced to an instrumental version of “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish. Guest judge Niecy Nash proclaimed it was “amazing” and “so beautiful,” adding, “I am obsessed with you.”Bruno Tonioli raved, “This is how you do it!” of the note-perfect dance. Carrie Ann Inaba told Pons, “I think you have what it takes to win it.

The judges will tap out couples one by one during the marathon and the last couple standing will be crowned Hallow king and queen. Bonus points from the marathon will be added to the individual scores.

Captain Phillips
Captain Phillips, 10.40pm, BBC1, Thursday
A year after the story of the takeover, by pirates, of the Mv Rozen was brought to the screen in A Hijacking, Paul Greengrass brought the real-life hijacking of the the US cargo ship Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates to cinemas. Tom Hanks is the big name star, of course, and his performance does not disappoint. Phillips may have a surface calmness but we feel the fear lurking somewhere close by. He's matched by the concentrated performance from Barkhad Abdi as lead pirate Muse, whose character is fully fleshed out by Billy Ray's script. Greengrass had form for edge-of-seat tension with 9/11 film United 93 and he repeats the trick here as the situation escalates. Gripping from start to finish. Read what Greengrass and Hanks said about the film here.
The Bfg, 3.45pm, BBC1, Sunday
Steven Spielberg was the perfect choice to take on Roald Dahl's.

Muse performed a revised setlist in Malaysia one week after the country’s government prematurely canceled a performance by The 1975.
The revision was announced via concert promoter Hello Universe ahead of Muse’s show on July 29th at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium as part of their ongoing “Will of the People” world tour. Concert organizer Adam Ashraf told Rojak Daily, “They called us shortly after [The 1975] incident went global. After discussions, they decided to pull one song out of the setlist due to the title of the song. It’s nice to know they’re eager to entertain while also respecting the guidelines.”
Muse ended up swapping out “We Are Fucking Fucked,” from their 2022 LP Will of the People, and replacing it with “Resistance,” from 2009’s The Resistance.

Jane Birkin, the English-French star who collaborated with Serge Gainsbourg on the risqué hit “Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus,” died July 16, French media reported. She was 76.
She and Gainsbourg were married from 1968-80 and worked together on “Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus,” released in 1969 – and recorded the year before, six months after they met on the set of the film Slogan. The song topped the UK chart and was Top 5 in several other European countries and Mexico but was not a hit Stateside.
The song, originally written by Gainsbourg for Brigitte Bardot, caused a scandal on its release for its sexual content. It was banned by radio stations across the UK, Italy and Spain, but became an enormous and instantly recognisable hit across the world.

I know I’ve been a little extra stressed about Anti-Muse lately, and I’ve been taking it out on you and the cabinets, which, by the way, I noticed are all closed?” Aaron explains that’s because she’s his “number one priority,” and she tells him he’s hers … before her phone distracts her. There has been a noticeable tonal shift in Black Mirror ever since it moved to Netflix from Channel Four prior to the third season. The utterly bleak, morbidly wicked British Black Mirror went through an American makeover and became a rather subtle, darkly comic show with a dash of optimism. It was still fascinating and very watchable. But obviously, a lot of people who fell in love with the show because of its pitch-black, hopeless first two seasons (and the terrifying Christmas special episode) got miffed by its newness. I personally didn’t have an issue, as I have always seen change as a sign of growth. But I could always see the logic behind the “Black Mirror is not the same anymore” argument. Especially with the last season delivering arguably the weakest batch of Black Mirror episodes, there was even a proper justification behind the argument.

Despite amassing a rather significant amount at the 1998 Hong Kong box office, reaching more than 41 million Hk$ in revenue, “The Storm Riders” was essentially a flop, since its budget was more than double that amount. This, however, did not prevent the movie from achieving cult status later on, particularly for its over-the-top action scenes and the imposing presence of Sonny Chiba.

Lamp and Dandelion were unveiled as two beloved Nineties actors after being booted off The Masked Singer in a double elimination.
On Wednesday (12 April) night’s episode of the US version of the top-secret celebrity singing contest, UFO defeated Lamp and Dandelion for a spot in the semi-finals.
To kick off the round, Dandelion sang a rendition of Muse’s 2006 song “Starlight”.
Wowed by her performance, Judge Nicole Scherzinger called her “an intergalactic rock star”.
For her final clue, Dandelion teased that she has “plenty of experience with space”, leading Scherzinger and fellow judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke to guess Sara Bareilles, Alicia Witt, or Zendaya were under the mask.
Lamp followed next with her performance of the 1986 song “Venus” by Bananarama.
Finalising her clue package, Lamp said: “Let me spell it out: M-a-x-i-m.”
The judges listed Neve Campbell, Melissa Joan Hart, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alyssa Milano...

Two all-new celebrities in disguise took on the reigning champ, Dandelion, for “Masked Singer in Space” on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.” After a performance of “Starlight” by Muse, Dandelion came in third place behind UFO and Lamp. The whimsical weed pulled off her mask to reveal actress, author and singer Alicia Witt. Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger were all gobsmacked when Ken Jeong was the only one to correctly guess the “Walking Dead” star.
“Nothing could prepare me for trying to play the piano and sing and catch my breath with all of this on,” Alicia told host Nick Cannon during her unmasked interview. “The thing I love the most is getting to connect to people with my music. This has been one of the best experiences of my whole life!”

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9, episode 9 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired April 12 on Fox.
It was “Masked Singer in Space Night,” but “The Masked Singer” could have also been celebrating “’90s Night.” That’s because the two celebrities unmasked on Wednesday’s episodes were both TV stars from that era: Melissa Joan Hart (of “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” fame) and Alicia Witt. Hart was revealed to be Lamp, while Witt was Dandelion.
Witt had won the previous week as Dandelion, but her journey ended here. For Dandelion, panelist Ken Jeong guessed Witt right. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Milla Jovovich. Robin Thicke went with Sara Bareilles and Nicole Scherzinger named Zooey Deschanel.
For Lamp, McCarthy Wahlberg, Thicke and Scherzinger all got it right with Hart. Jeong went rogue with Michelle Williams.
