Simon Farnaby chats to us about writing Paddington 2, appearing in Rogue One, and making Yonderland...
Simon Farnaby is a man already keenly admired around these parts for being part of the Horrible Histories, Yonderland and Bill ensemble. But he's also the man who co-penned the script to the incoming Paddington 2, which seemed like a good enough excuse for a chat to us. Here's how it went...

How did you end up joining Paul King [director/co-writer] on writing duties this time round?
Paul and I are friends, and we met many, many years ago in the comedy fringes, shall we say. We met and got on, and we did a one man show; we co-wrote a show, which I was acting in, and Paul directed for Battersea arts centre, this was 2004, or something.

This past Wednesday night, September 20,2017, Big Brother houseguests Elena Davies and Mark Jansen were two of the shocking jury members that didn't vote for houseguest Paul Abrahamian in the huge Big Brother 19 season finale show. Their decisions led to Paul getting his second consecutive loss. Rob Cesternino from "Rob Has A Podcast" got to chat with both of them at the same time to get down to the nitty gritty of what led to their decision to give houseguest Josh Martinez their vote instead. They were basically just really bitter about how Paul played them. They just said they think he overplayed. They did admit that he played a better game than Josh, but they respected Josh's game more. The interview started of with Rob saying,"We're back with Mark and Elena. Marlena is happening, right?" Elena said, "I guess Marlena is happening." Mark said, "Marlena is definitely happening." Rob said,...

Hey guys. As most of you should know by now, houseguest Paul Abrahamian lost the show again last night after making it to the final two for a second straight year in a row. In this article, we're going to break down and give you the reasons why we think he lost. First off, Paul lost by a vote of 5-4. It was extremely close. Cody, Mark, Elena, Alex and Jason all voted for Josh. Christmas, Raven,Matt and Kevin voted for Paul. It came down to Cody's vote since that was the last key host Julie Chen pulled. Houseguest Alex Ow was extremely bitter. She said, "I voted for the person who stabbed me in the front. Not in the back." During the jury questioning and final speeches, we noticed that Paul would still never really own his game. When he was asked about his bullying tactics, he pretty...

Alright, the Power Of Veto competition for Big Brother season 19 was played last night, August 19,2017. The feeds were off for quite a while for this one. We didn’t get to find out who won until around 9 pm Pacific time which was actually 11 pm in our Central time zone. According to a report from Big Brother Network, Mark, Raven and Paul were drawn to play. So, the house’s backdoor target Mark did at least get a chance to play for the veto this week. The other players were of course the current Hoh Christmas and her two pawn nominees Jason and Matt. The Zingbot also showed up for this particular comp. From various conversations, it sounds like the competition consisted of the greased slide where the houseguests have to run back and forth trying to fill up a big jar with liquid until it’s high enough for them...

The screenwriters and executive producers of Deadpool take us through the fight to bring the movie to the screen....
It took more than six years of development for Fox’s X-Men spin-off movie Deadpool to make it to the big screen. Along the way, multiple script drafts were written and manifold Marvel Comics characters were dropped in and out. It was only when that much-talked-about test footage did the rounds to much online applause that movie finally set a release date and became a tangible reality.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick – the writers who’ve been on board the R-rated Ryan Reynolds superhero movie since the start – spoke to us on the phone just before the movie’s release. We spoke about all sorts, covering X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Zombieland 2 and, of course, the Merc With The Mouth himself…

Never mind Captain America's "Civil War," there's now a British civil war between Jason Statham and Paul Bettany. Jason fired the first shots when dissing "The Avengers" movies, and Paul just returned fire -- brilliantly -- last night on "Conan."
Conan O'Brien mentioned that Jason was talking smack about the Avengers, and quoted the star's insults: "I could take my grandma and put her in a cape and they'll put her in a green screen and they'll have stunt doubles come in and do the action. Anybody can do it." Paul -- the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. and The Vision in Marvel's "Avengers" and upcoming "Civil War" -- said he heard about this. He didn't understand why anyone would talk smack like that, but he complimented Jason, saying he's brilliant at what he does and he couldn't do it himself.

Note: This post contains spoilers for the second season of "True Detective" for anyone that hasn't seen the third episode. Yesterday I rewatched the first three episodes of this second season of "True Detective" in an effort to put together an "everything we know" post I'll be releasing on Monday and to compile notes on each individual character for the purposes of our podcast. It was a rather enlightening look at the season so far, to the point even that first episode improves with a second glance and a few things that previously alluded my knowledge have now come to light. That said, Taylor Kitsch recently spoke with The Daily Beast about his role as Officer Paul Woodrugh and the secrets he's hiding. Secrets such as Kitsch confirms he's popping Viagra in that opening episode and mere allusions to what went down with his work as a mercenary for Black Mountain...

Mania Days is an emotional look at mental health, telling the story of two characters who fall in love in an institution and try to maintain that relationship in the outside world. Starring Katie Holmes and Luke Kirby, the film was one of the more memorable dramas of SXSW 2015. Griffin Dunne also has a role in the movie as Luke’s character’s father.
After the premiere we sat down with Luke and Griffin to talk about the film. We discussed why they got involved, the process of being in the heads of these characters and much more. Check out the full interview below!
Wgtc: How’d you both get involved?
Kirby: I auditioned?
Dunne: Did you?
Kirby: Yeah, I still have to.
Dunne: I would’ve been thrilled to audition. I came through the agent, the normal way. But the script had such a realism about it. You can...

We love The Great British Bake Off - who doesn't? - so when the BBC sticks a bunch of celebrities in the famous tent and makes them do it all for charity, how could it be anything other than amazing?
Sure enough, tonight's flour flinging between Dame Edna Everage, Joanna Lumley, Jennifer Saunders and Lulu was very entertaining indeed. Here are the 16 funniest moments...
1. The varying attitudes of the competitors.
"I know the other three - that should hopefully be fun, unless they're competitive," Lulu said nervously. Cut instantly to Jennifer: "I'm very competitive." Oh. (Later, during the signature cookie bake, she huffed: "Lulu knows exactly what she's doing. I'm tempted to go over and turn her oven down.")
2. Joanna Lumley's general terrified state.
She just didn't stop looking nervous, did she? Sometimes it was a joke (like when she quivered: "They spoke to me!" after a visit from...

It's Fright Night on The X Factor this week and boy, wouldn't you know it! Not only are the acts all singing 'Fright Night'-themed songs (or, well, they're supposed to be) but one of them will be booted out before the night is out after Simon Cowell got fed up with them all for not trying hard enough. If that's not all scary enough, The Script will be popping along to perform.

Le diable est parmi nous (a/k/a The Possession of Victoria and Satan’s Sabbath)
Written by John Dunning and André Link
Directed by Jean Beaudin
Canada, 1972
Le diable est parmi nous (also known as The Possession of Virginia and Satan’s Sabbath) continues the Fantasia International Film Festival’s foray into the dark, sleazy recesses on Quebec’s cinematic past. This, like the previously-covered Pouvoir intime, is another homegrown genre effort that hasn’t seen the light of day on home video since the VHS era. The 35mm copy shown at the festival is the only complete extant print, and was loaned from the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa. As such, the screened version is in as good a shape as you could expect an archival print to be. The film itself, meanwhile, is remarkably messier, pitched somewhere between a Parallax View-esque conspiracy thriller and an occult-themed sexploitation film,...

First off, we have to mention how much we loved Victoria's prim and proper school prefect look and her superb facial expressions - especially when she whipped cream onto herself. In order to properly prepare for his role in "Need for Speed," it only makes sense that Aaron Paul would have to learn some stunt driving techniques. Before being allowed to drive like a maniac in Ferraris and Lamborghinis, he had to prove himself in old, beat up cars.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette, the former "Breaking Bad" star looks to be having one of the most fun days a person possibly could at work, as he learns to drift, drive backwards at high rates of speed and cut corners, while burning through tires.
It seems like after Jesse Pinkman is treating Paul just fine. "Need for Speed" is in theaters March 14.

Paul Walker’s costars can’t say enough great things about the actor, who passed away tragically on Nov. 30 in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita, Cali. Paul, 40, touched many hearts during his career.
Whether acting with him in one film or in an entire franchise, Paul Walker‘s costars are completely heartbroken by his death. The actor was leaving his charity event with a friend when the driver lost control of the Porsche Gt, crashing into a tree, killing both Paul and the driver. Below, read the heartfelt messages from his costars.
Costars React To Paul Walker’s Death
Less than 24 hours after Paul tragically died, co-star Tyrese Gibson visited the crash site, where he immediately broke down in tears. The actor could not contain himself as he left a few flowers for his fallen co-star and then walked away stoically.
Vin Diesel meanwhile, is “inconsolable,” a friend told HollywoodLife.

Last week’s episode “Variations Under Domestication” cranked up the insanity that had broken out as a result of Sarah’s (Tatiana Maslany) impersonation of her clone twin Beth (Tatiana Maslany), which then led to Sarah having to impersonate yet another clone in a pinch: Allison (Tatiana Maslany), the seemingly idyllic housewife with the perfect life. But Sarah had already learned the lesson of all that appears perfect on the outside maybe rotten to the core once you peel back someone’s personal life.
For Sarah had already discovered that Beth had a good reason for jumping in front of that train that fateful day when their paths crossed. Beth’s life had begun to close in around her and she took her own life to both escape it and protect those she cared about. River City
I really enjoyed this past week’s River City. First of all, I have to admit that Robbie and Will are growing on me as a couple. No, you won’t see me going all fangirl on them, but I like them much more than I used to. I also think that the pairing has really suited Robbie as a character and has helped to ground and mature what used to be a really flighty and sometimes annoying character. He still can be flighty and annoying, but his relationship with Will has fleshed the character out and softened his more bothersome traits.
I continue to love that River City has this gay couple in lead stories that usually isn’t about them being gay. Yes, Will’s father disapproves of his son's relationship with Robbie, but their lives and stories are much bigger than...

The performances Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams deliver in "The Master" as, respectively, Freddie Quell, Lancaster Dodd and Peggy Dodd, have been rightly hailed as revelatory. It's the supporting contributions director Paul Thomas Anderson coaxed from the rest of his cast, however, that make the film whole: from Laura Dern as a devoted disciple, to Jesse Plemons as Dodd's cynical son, and especially Rami Malek. The 31-year-old actor portrays Dodd's kowtowing son-in-law, propping up scenes against Phoenix's raving Quell throughout "The Master."

For schoolchildren, September heralds the end of an enjoyable epoch – the end to all of the carefree hedonism and devil-may-care attitudes of summer vacation. In its place are the daunting expectations of school, the angst of making new friends, and the apathy towards uninspired subject primers. September is a dreadful month, but, for most kids, the year only gets better from that point on.
For critics, September has the exact same connotation. September heralds the end of summer movies, the end to all the pyrotechnics and computer generated delirium of big-budget commercial blockbusters. In its place are studio afterthoughts (movies deemed too rubbish to be lumped in with the aforesaid), which are consequently dumped in mid-September, on unassuming audiences without apology or impunity.

It's been evident for a very long time now that this isn't a storybook relationship. The season one separation and multiple affairs made that rather clear.
But even when Paul and Cathy got back together, did anyone really feel the love? She chose chocolate over sex with him a few weeks ago, she was never supportive of his burgeoning career and, as Paul so perfectly said this week, she created a fantasy world in which her husband was dead.

Tina Fey & Co. totally delivered on their second installment of the 30 Rock live show, and it featured special guests galore: Amy Poehler, Jon Hamm, Jimmy Fallon, Donald Glover, Fred Armisen, and even Sir Paul McCartney. We've all known people like Nancy. The title character of Andrew Semans' "Nancy, Please" is a real pill, dark eyes, slumped shoulders, and an eternal pout. There's always drama in Nancy's life, and she's always expressing it physically. She's always impetuous, always difficult, and frequently nasty, as if lashing out not against a single person but the world at large. In spite of it all, her punk sneer and angular sensuality is also sharp like a knife, tight like a fist. And for young potential PhD Paul, she is an out-and-out boogeyman.
Working as a graduate student at Yale, Paul has just emerged from the dark tunnel of being Nancy's roommate. We're led to believe they didn't interact much, and when they did, it was slightly more than the standard tension that occurs when two young people with nothing in common share space. Chuck Norris doesn’t endorse presidential candidates — he anoints political saviors. The actor, an avowed Republican, explains at the outset of an epic editorial on Wnd that, “As a six-time undefeated middleweight world karate champion, I have a pretty good idea what makes a warrior.” In the nearly 1,400 words that follow, the fiery-spirited, flame-haired Golden Boot Award winner lays out the “the trifecta of tyranny” that Newt Gingrich, his new favorite Republican candidate is facing. Namely, foe Mitt Romney’s massive funding, the dreaded mainstream media (Msm), and the ”elite power mongering” forces within the Gop party itself. As you might expect,...

He may have come in a distant third at the Gop Iowa caucus last night, but nobody electrifies the youth vote quite like 77-year-old U.S. congressman from Texas, Ron Paul.
Sure, even if he hadn't pulled in 47% of votes from ages 17-29 (compared to Romney's 13%), we all would know that Paul just drives kids wild this side of Justin Bieber.
Don't believe us? Check out this clip from "Conan" last night that proves that Ron Paul is truly this generation's teen idol sensation.

This February, New Girl will move from adorkable to downright a-DOable.
Sources confirm to E! News that True Blood star Ryan Kwanten will appear on the Fox sitcom's Valentine's Day episode, portraying a random guy named Oliver who Zooey Deschanel's Jess meets at a bar and considers for a one-night stand.
We know what you're thinking, ladies: What's there to consider?!?
Of course, Jess isn't done with Justin Long's Paul just yet. Tomorrow night's new episode will deal find her asking many questions of her friends in order to make the couple's sex life extra special.

Dune Re-read, Part 10
We are almost to the end! From here on out the ratio of favorite scenes to pages is pretty close. I don’t know if there is anyone out there reading Dune for the first time but take your time with these last few chapters. You will want to rush through them because everything is Finally happening but go slowly. Savor the landscape descriptions and the quiet conversations. Some of the reasons this book is one of my all time favorites ever lie in these last few chapters.
There is something comforting about the team you root for winning. It’s right. It makes you feel good. There’s also something cunning and wonderful about the good guys being a little bad, a little morally suspect. This is a war after all, a war with devious players and a protagonist who is quite happy with manipulating an...

There's no need to wait until "Breaking Dawn" for a "Twilight" wedding. Nikki Reed , who plays Rosalie Hale in the film franchise, wed raspy-voiced "American Idol" alumni Paul McDonald in Malibu on Sunday, her rep confirmed to Us Weekly. Nikki, 23, and Paul, 27 announced their engagement in June. They met at the premiere of "Little Red Riding Hood" back in March, where she gushed "You're amazing. I'm blushing! I should go!" After she had left earshot Paul famously asked, "Is she a famous actress or something?" Check out photos of the happy couple below: "Spy Kids" star Alexa Vega served as the maid of honor, while Paul and his band Grand Magnolias treated the 100 guest to a musical performance. "Yesterday was the most amazing day of my life..everything was perfect. I'm officially a Married Man! Woohoo!," Paul just posted on Twitter . "Yesterday was the most magical day of my life,...

I was left speechless after watching this twisted short film called Tub, directed by Bobby Miller. This is the weirdest craziest short film I've ever seen, and I was definitely creeped out by it. It's got some pretty messed up stuff. The tagline for the film is as follows...
Paul jerked off in the shower. Paul just impregnated his bath tub.
Yes, the film is about a guy that gets his bathtub pregnant. This movie is Nsfw. Check it out and share your thoughts in the Rant Back section below.
/Film has an interview with the director of the film which you can check out if you want. Here's what he had this to say about what inspired the twisted story...
I probably came up with it while I was masturbating in the shower. Actually, I think the germ of it came from my undergrad freshman roommate. He was goofing on someone and said,...

Is falling head over heels for a guy you barely know a bad thing?
When Nikki Reed saw Paul MacDonald perform on American Idol this season, she knew she wanted to meet him. She pursued him single-mindedly, moved him into her La home and now, mere months later, are reportedly engaged. Is this relationship going to last or are Nikki and Paul just going with the moment?
The Breaking Dawn starlet showed off a big old diamond sparkler at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend, causing some serious shock. At the rate these two are moving — they’ve already gotten matching tattoos and are house-hunting together — they’ll have kids by the end of next year!
They’re in love; I won’t dispute that. But the realist in me wants Nikki in particular to be careful. She was the aggressor in their relationship, and although she’s a beautiful Hollywood actress,...

Make no mistake about Fubar: Balls to the Wall, it is hilarious. It is downright funny in a way that Jackass 3 was funny with the exception that the talent of David Lawrence and Paul Spence, who play Terry and Dean, respectively, are comedic actors who are so in tune to these characters that they feel like second skin that’s easily gotten into. They sell their performances by leaning on their abilities and it’s not really the story that’s compelling about this film, it’s them.
When director Michael Dowse (Take Me Home Tonight, It’s All Gone Pete Tong, the upcoming Goon) sat down to flesh out the second installment he knew what he wanted to...

Though the sci-fi comedy Paul just hit theaters featuring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, another comedy with an alien focus featuring one-half of the British duo has been gaining some buzz since it's premiere at the South by Southwest film festival last week (see all of our coverage here). Director Joe Cornish's Attack the Block featuring Nick Frost in the story of a group of British hoodies fighting off an alien invasion on their block has had plenty of praise across the board. Jeremy had some good things to say about it (see the trailer here), and now SlashFilm has revealed a great quad poster for the film which you can see below. Here's the quad poster for Attack the Block (see a much larger version at SlashFilm): Follows a gang in South London defending their block from an alien invasion. Paul comes from the team that brought us Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Or most of the team: Writer-stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are still aboard, but director Edgar Wright has been replaced by Greg Mottola. And that substitution makes all the difference.
Not that Mottola doesn’t know his way around a joke: He proved that he did with Superbad and Adventureland. But he lacks the slightly nastier edge that Wright brought to the work. Watching Paul makes you wonder whether Wright wasn’t the one who kicked those films up the notch needed to give them their bite…read more [Huffington Post]
The ensuing action adventure contains elements of bro-mance, road trip comedy and action and sci-fi and is packed with movie in-joke references and cool supporting players.
But somehow it doesn’t quite come together as satisfyingly as the duo’s previous work.

Unfortunately I won't be seeing Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's Paul prior to its release this Friday. It just wasn't in the stars as the local screenings always conflicted with another screening. I will say I wasn't particularly interested in seeing it after seeing the trailers and the glowing reviews haven't changed my opinion much either. Additionally, this latest little Star Wars spoof Frost and Pegg did for College Humor doesn't make me laugh either, which may be a sign Paul just isn't for me. I may try and catch it over the weekend, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the Ncaa Tournament is of a much higher priority.

4:36 p.m. - Marcos Siega, who has directed countless episodes in the first season, is moderating. And Matt Davis is wearing purple pants.
4:44 p.m. - It'll be very interesting to see Stefan and Katherine come face to face.

John Lennon told Paul McCartney he wanted "a divorce" months before The Beatles split. A lost interview with the guitarist and singer - who was assassinated in 1980 - reveals he told his co-songwriter of his intentions to split the band in September 1969, before the release of their last album "Let It Be."
Until now, it has widely been thought Paul was responsible for the group - which also featured Ringo Starr and George Harrison - splitting, when he quit the band in April 1970.
