Doctor Who: The Tsuranga Conundrum (2018)
Whats Going On with this season???????
These new episodes are making me ill!!! I am a huge whovian and was really excited with this new season. Ok, still only 5 episodes in but i've seen NOTHING that represents the imaginative, creative, and intellectual nature that is Doctor Who. I really like the new doctor but why are these new shows sooooo bland??? I really hope things get better but i'm now just depressed. Its like SYFY took over the show and cut the budget like 90%.
The review from lisacalhoun - 26368 got it right. She listed out the 5 stages of death and dying
PLEASE BBC, get a grip and show to the new whovians what the show really represents!
The Strangers (2008)
AVOID!
Wow! Nothing in this movie had any redeeming qualities. Think, 80's hokey "thriller" schlock. If you want a good scare fest movie, ignore this one. The movie had no substance. People in a house getting terrified from people outside. THATS IT!. Nothing new, nothing interesting. At no time did i think the behavior of any character would be normal human reaction. The script was so over the top that it could be considered a comedy on how ridiculous it was. A total waste of time. If you do want to give it a try, just be warned, you will get NOTHING out of this. Arwen would have mopped the floor with these hacks. Just saying..
Aliens (1986)
B movie
WOW, just wow. I remember watching this movie when i was a kid and, man did it freak me out. I just watched it again (2018) and i can't believe what a piece of garbage this is. There are sooooo many plot holes, cringe worthy scenes, and just utter disregard to reality. Yes this is a si-fy movie but MAN did they jump the shark! I just can't believe that this movie was praised at all. There are scenes where Cameron decided to "intensify" the action, with NO APPARENT reason!!!!! If its just me than ok. but please re-watch it. It will put this movie in a new perspective
Stasis (2017)
Failure to the si-fi culture
Honestly, i couldn't make it past the first 10 min. I love B movies but holy heck, it was horrible!! I can't believe people funded this movie. I really don't think the creators knew what they were doing and or trying to make a comprehensive "film". On the upside, it would make for a WONDERFUL MST3K episode.
They Look Like People (2015)
Nope!
Not a great indi movie. Its really slow and nothing really happens. Honest, it didn't really do anything for me. Nothing groundbreaking, nothing new, just a waste of my time. I def closed my eyes multiple times because it was soooo slow. Just, watchers beware.
Annihilation (2018)
Wanted to like it but i just couldn't
Good until the the third act. So much of this movie is discovering whats going on and just leaves you hanging! I feel like i just watched all seasons of Lost. Such a disappointment! You would think the cast as great as it was wouldn't be such a bland movie. I actually almost fell asleep at the end. Boring
Les affamés (2017)
Worst Zed movie EVER!
Ok, I've seen my fare share of bad zombie movies but WOW. I found myself laughing over and over on how ridiculous events played out. Characters, script, acting, and plot were ALL over the place. I really wanted to like this movie because i'm part french-Canadian and that's why i watched the whole movie. Otherwise i would have turned it off within the first 10 minutes. I was hoping it would get better but i was wrong. I give it a 1 star rating because i was angry on how bad it was. Probably deserves a 3.... make that a 2. Maybe its just me but PLEASE keep in mind its a zombie movie that does not make sense. If you want to watch it, put it in the background while you do your taxes. Come back, and i trust you didn't miss anything.
6 Days (2017)
I really tried.
I really tried to like this movie. BIG fan of Jamie Bell but the story isn't strong. I just can't understand why people would make a movie about this event. For me, its really painful to watch. OK, yes I'm from the states and NO, i don't like typical shoot-em up movies. The ebb and flow of this movie is just... HORRIBLE. Also, the breach scene was really unrealistic. The SAS are the top elite solders. There is no WAY they would have executed this mission that way. It was like watching a bunch of bagpiper slowly trying to rescue multiple hostages... If this is exactly what happened, if feel bad for the British.
Cabin Fever (2016)
HA! OH Eli!
If you think this as a comedy its not as bad as people say. I really laughed at points. STOP! It was REALLY bad but if you set aside the bad acting, script, directing, plot, cinematography, props, gaffers, producers, AD's, hell lets put in Kraft services,.. its really got... well a mashup of teen horror mixes in with an outbreak. Granted, NOTHING is explained and you actually root for the people getting killed.
The Open House (2018)
Run away!
Nothing in this movie made sense. Not scary, NO plot, and the writing was horrific! Do NOT waste your time with this. You're better off watching paint dry
Arrowhead (2016)
Sorry But No
I'm really open to anything. I like the bad with the good, but WOW. It feels like i'm watching a movie done by a high schooler with money... Wait i take that back, i've seen better films by High schoolers. What really erks me is just the lack of care. Everything about this movie is to show off with effects and has no reason for being there. Doesn't add to plot or.. well anything.
If you can make it past 10 minutes, awesome, you will probably like it. If not just turn it off, it gets much worse.
Open Grave (2013)
OK but not great
I liked this movie and i loved the plot. I found the script was original and the acting was above par.
But WOW was the directing horrible!!! I can't imagine the actors were OK with the way it was run. I'm not giving any spoilers away but there were may parts in the movie i had to do a double take. It was kind of like watching a bad slasher movie. Like, don't do that!! and your're an idiot if you go there!!
All in all if you like a story that where you are the antagonist finding out whats going on as the movie progresses with a bit of horror then you will like it.
Ghostbusters (2016)
To All the nay sayers. Just love
Listen, i was as sceptical as everyone else. I really wanted a next gen Ghostbusters movie where they were instructed by the OG GB. would make sense right??? Nope was i wrong..
That fact aside, I laughed out loud (LOL for u Millennials) on multiple occasions. The comedy was spot on and the actors were perfect. If you are a bigot, racist, Trump loving person, then yes you will not like it. If you truly LOVE the Ghostbusters franchise, then you will enjoy this movie from beginning to end. Def a movie to watch over and over again. It pays respect to the older movies while invigorating a new generation of fans.
10 out of 10 if you like Ghostbusters.
The Good Dinosaur (2015)
Sorry...
Yeah, i really wanted to like this movie but it let me down time and time again. it was a fantastic plot for a movie.. What if the dinosaurs didn't die off. I feel like they really didn't use that but more of a gimmick. They could have switched out dino's with people and the kid with a dog and it would equate to the same old story that has been told over and over again. Then it was just sooooo slooooow. Nothing happened. plot was as simple as it gets.
The places where pixar wanted you to get your feels on, i just didn't care. The characters were so vanilla that it just didn't move me.
I'm just upset with Pixar. Its really not a kids movie and it shows. When they advertised it, you would think its a family fun romp with a dino and a kid. Not at all. I was going to take my 3 year old to see it but i'm glad i went to see it first.
Well rant off. Summery, plot was nothing new, characters weren't developed, and was too boring.
I Just hope Finding Dory brings Pixar back out of the slump.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Emotions
HAAAAAAAAA!!!! i just came back from watching this movie on opening day and my adrenaline is still pumping. Acting, dialogue, fight scenes were fantastic!
I do have to say that the plot is rather ridged. It takes a long time to explain where the story is going. And even then you're not exactly sure.
This movie has a LOT in common with "A New Hope". i'm thinking that going back to the roots will do that to you. What I didn't expect was all of the small details that the team did to enhance the movie. I know big battles are awesome but the nostalgia factor far exceeded my expectations. I honestly felt like i was watching star wars for the first time.
Honestly, after the Phantom Crap that Lucas came out with, i was apprehensive on watching this new movie. I went in thinking the worst and came out thinking the best.
Stop reading and go and see it already, you wont be disappointed
Crimson Peak (2015)
Beautiful, yes. Acting... meh.. and Super Slow
So i just watched it and thought i was going to love it. Victorian haunted house?? What not to like. Turns out most of it. Lets talk about plot.. wow i could think of 5 films right of the bat that have similar paths. I could have guessed what what was going to happen right from the beginning. I kept watching and hoping it wouldn't pan out that way but, alas it did.
So yeah, plot blah, acting, well Hiddleson was good but flat. Melancholy emo character who didn't have a clear path. More like, hey we'll make it up as we go.
To write a script the number one thing is to start with an ending. You need to know where the story ends before you write the rest. I really don't think it was done in this movie. The ending is rushed and pointless. Feels like it was thrown together.
The only redeeming grace in this movie was the sets and costumes. It was beautiful to look at. I'm a really big fan of del Toro but he's reaching for this one.
If you want to watch this movie, don't do it if you're tired. Its extremely slow and will have you nodding off in no time.
P.S love that Bobby Singer is in this movie. But he should have known what was going on before hand. (Sorry "Supernatural" show reference :)
Doctor Who: The Girl Who Died (2015)
Vikings are awesome!!
I liked it. The previous episode was better but this one really develops the new doctor. I was never a fan of Capadi but this new season has changed my mind. They actually reference the Pompeii episode which before confused me. Now it makes sense.
Don't believe that bad reviews. Def a great episode... Plus, Arya Stark!!!!!!!! Maisie is fantastic and hope she is on future shows! Awesome, just Awesome!!! What would be cool is to see her as a future companion. Although i think she is too involved with Game of Thrones to be in every episode. I'm thinking More like Cap Jack, in every few shows.
Vikings is a genre that i haven't seen before in Doctor who and i think they nailed it. The Grittiness works.
Whovians will like this one, people looking to get into the show because Maisie might be disappointed. Watch at your own risk!
Million Dollar Baby (2004)
Wow! and holy Cow
You know, i have been putting off this title over and over again. It hit Netflix and i saw that Morgan "god" freeman was in it and thought why not. I figured i would turn it off after 20 min because i don't like boxing and didn't like raging bull. Rocky was fine but people hitting each other for sport.. No.
The movie started and i was hooked. Right from the beginning i knew it wasn't just about boxing. The Character progression was fantastic. The theme worked on so many levels. The movie really showed the good and bad about what the word "family" really means. The The last 3/4 of the movie had me 2 inches from the screen and almost in tears.
Just watch it. Wasn't what i expected and glad it wasn't. Loved it!!
