Spring Breakers (2012)

Stylish, bizarre, engrossing and even sometimes heartfelt movie

The first 30 minutes of this film are not very interesting and it seems like its another trite film about parties, sex, drugs and students who want to have fun. Though after four main characters, who are four girls (Cotty, Candy, Brit and Faith) who want to spend great holidays, are pulled out of the jail by Alien (James Franko) the film gets very interesting and intriguing from that point. The story revolves around this four girls, but to the end of the movie only two girls remain and Alien, who is also a rapper and gangster. The ending of this film is superb and unpredictable it has emotional touch. The most pleasant thing is that those two beautiful blonde girls (Brit and Candy), who drive home in a car in the last scene, will remember their holidays for the rest of their lives.

Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (2010)

Great modern martial arts film

Some years ago I liked to watch old kung fu films and decided to watch a modern one. This film is a story of the years before WWII when China was occupied by Japan. The main character Chen Zhen (Donnie Yen) plays Chinese who fights occupants. This film has some comedy moments, many martial art fight scenes, some exhilarating scenes and many dialogs. Donnie Yen is a new generation in martial arts actors like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee were before him. This film has also some unpleasant moments that are quite sadistic. I liked very much the last fight between Chen Zhen and the leader of Japanese occupation forces. Great battle reminded me that legendary one of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in the Way of the Dragon. It has a nuance that Chen Zhen was in white clothes so he represented good and the Japanese villain was in black so he represented evil. Such nuance is nice and a great ending for the movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

Great film about robots, people and their interaction

Transformers was my favorite cartoon when I was a child and surely I couldn't pass by films about transformers. This is the second film in the series and it's better than the first one. It's more focused, has more interesting story and certainly it has some fun and hilarious moments. The only downside is that it has a little to much action and fighting and sometimes it's hard to tell what's happening on the screen. The most memorable moment is probably when a pretty blonde girl seduces the main character and transforms into a very unpleasant robot. Surprisingly this film has some very touching moments. It's a bit long, but never dull and almost always interesting.

Scusa ma ti chiamo amore (2008)

Hilarious romantic film about an eternal feeling

This movie is about love between Alex and Niki and it could be just one more uninspired story of love, but it isn't. They got to know each other after an accident on the road when Alex brings down Niki and when she jumps in his car the main story begins. There's a difference between them in 20 years and this film shows that love can take you by surprise in any age and no matter how old or young your partner is. During the film there are many legendary phrases by different famous people and they add some nice touch to this film. It's interesting to see 2 different generations the young one and the middle-aged people and both of them are shown nicely and with sincere emotions.

It's a pleasure that film has happy ending and also it's interesting to know what happens with all of the main characters after one year. Great romantic melodrama that sometimes will make you laugh and sometimes go through different emotions. It's a great film for those who likes mellow movies.

Perfect Stranger (2007)

A film with a good cast, intriguing story and unexpected ending

The main character Rowena is fired after she reveals some secrets of one dishonest person. When she goes home she meets her old friend and they have a conversation. Who would have thought that it was the last time she saw her friend alive. The rest of the film is about uncovering who and why killed that woman. So it's an interesting detective thriller with some twists. It also has some nice dialogue and good phrases, but the most exciting is correspondence over Internet. Well, you never definitely know who is on the other side of the screen. The ending is... shocking, but it's more or less fair.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

A film about fashion and intriguing relationship between a nice smart girl and her very strict chief

This film stands out from the rest of typical films. It's about world of fashion and how difficult it is to really live a life in that sphere. The main character Andrea is a young and naive smart girl who is looking for a job and she is very diligent to complete every task of her boss. And her chief gives her so many tasks that while watching I understand who is the Devil here.

Despite all the difficulties the main character stays sincere and true to herself. The film probably teaches us that there's always a choice and everything comes at a cost. While so many people envy those who wears fashion clothes and luxury things very few understand how difficult it is necessary to work to get those things. The ending is also beautiful and maybe the best moment of the film is when Andrea throws away her mobile phone when her chief called her and decides to leave her job and world of fashion to start a new life with a new job.

BloodRayne (2005)

Interesting and in some ways unique action film with great cast

I don't like anything related to vampires, but this film caught my attention and was a pleasant watch for me. The main heroine is not a vampire: she is a dhampir - a half-human and half-vampire. She hates vampires and is on a human side. Still she has something vapmires have. The movie has many interesting action scenes and some intriguing plot turns. It is also a pleasure to see a cast of famous and great actors. The ending holds viewer in tension and the last scene is memorable. After the fight is over the last shot is very beautiful!

Before Sunset (2004)

Enjoyful and pleasant romantic melodrama

It's a film about two people that once spend some time together and it was maybe one of the best days in their lives. Now 9 years later they meet again and have another wonderful date together. I liked the first film Before Sunrise for it's romantic story and this film while also great and similar to that one it is not so outstanding.

We can know what both of the main characters Jesse and Celine went through during this long 9 years and it's revealed that they didn't meet in Vienna 6 months later as they agreed. Most of the film Jesse and Celine talk with each other about many things and they walk by the streets of Paris. 9 years later they still like each other and there is a sparkle between them. The ending is open and unclear, but it has its charm. Overall it's a nice romantic melodrama in some way unique and everybody can recall his or her own first love and try to get in touch after all those years.

Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003)

A pleasant, nice and easy teen romantic comedy

The nerdy guy who is smart, intelligent, assiduous but unpopular in high school once gets the chance to become popular and stylish. The most popular and charming girl helps him to make his dream come true when they start dating. In exchange he helps her to repair her car after accident. Step by step with every new day he is getting more attention and respect from his classmates, but when the deal between this outsider and the most beautiful girl is over he becomes arrogant and ungrateful. Very soon he loses all and understands that love and sincerity is much more valuable than popularity. The story has touching happy ending. Overall this film has nice cast and characters, decent story, some hilarious moments and some meaning. For those who's in the mood to watch something pleasant, funny, relax and get positive emotions it's a great choice!

Maid in Manhattan (2002)

Nice romantic comedy with great cast and good plot

I decided to see this film because I like Jennifer Lopez as an actress and as a singer too. I saw already 4 films where she's playing and this one is arguably her best. Ralph Fiennes also plays his role very good. We have another Cinderella story, but this time it's a bit unique, it has heart and soul and it has very touching happy end! Maid in Manhattan may also be interesting for those ladies who are divorced and have children like the main character. In real life it could hardly happen, but a film is not always supposed to be very real sometimes it's better to entertain and give positive emotions and this movie does it very well.

Heartbreakers (2001)

A fun comedy film with nice cast and hilarious story

This film has nice cast and for me the most interesting was Jennifer Love Hewitt who's character (page) is smart, sexy, intriguing and sometimes even sincere. This film is about that old thing that probably all or at least the majority of men cheat and two main female characters, a mother and her daughter, can seduce men and take their chances in getting lots of money and wealth. I laughed many times during this film cause it has so many fun moments. The best thing I liked is that it ends with happy-end and Page finally finds a man (a bartender, who is in charge of his bar) who is sincere and true to her in his feelings and in his actions. By the way he is also rich enough. Not superb, but if you want something easy, fun and joyful it's a good film to entertain.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)

A good film about dreams of the four people that never came true

This film has a poetic title and it attracted me so I wanted to see it. Besides one of my friends recommended me to see it and I'm glad I did. We have an old woman who's dream is to get on TV and become famous and she is obsessed with TV shows. The other three main characters of the story are more interesting... they are all young and restless but they are obsessed with drugs. It's the road that leads them nowhere. All of them are good people and they have their light side, but the end for each of them is tragic. We have a young couple who love each other and a friend of the main character. By the way some moments of this film are too long and unnecessary, some are even dirty. I'd say it's not a masterpiece but definitely a good film that makes audience think about their life and dreams.

The Cell (2000)

An original film that I would call intensive thriller with surrealism

I like Jennifer Lopez as a singer and as an actress too. In this film she suits her role perfectly as a doctor who enters subconsciousness of patients and tries to help them this way. So there are two worlds in this picture one is a real world we are all living in and the other one is the world of dreams that can be nice and wonderful, but also can be a darkest nightmare. It has some awkward moments that will make all sensitive and sentimental people close their eyes or turn their heads out of the screen. One of the lessons in this film is that if a child has a difficult childhood he can become a maniac in his adulthood. Afterall this film has a happy-end and I felt sympathy for Catherine because she stood her promise and helped Carl to break out from his past and become alright. A fair film that has it's ups and downs but after watching it you'll probably will remember it for long. Though it's not for everyone.

High Fidelity (2000)

A film about music and romance

I'm music lover myself and like listen to the music and I do it quite often at home or when I'm on the road, sometimes even at work. So the main character in this movie owns a record store with thousands of vinyl records. Like in music charts he makes his own top 5 chart of girls with whom he ended relationship and tells a story after story about them. Unfortunately this film doesn't have deep meaning and isn't thought provoking. There is also some vulgar gestures by one of the main characters friends and it isn't funny. At the same time it also have some bright moments it's about a singer with whom main character makes best dating of his life. Summarazing I can tell that it's passable at best and forgettable at worst, but still this film has some uniqueness that makes it worth watching for some variety.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Nice drama film based on the real story

Julia Roberts plays a great role in this good film. I thought it would be a passable film but it's quite interesting and even intriguing. It is the story about a woman with three children and two divorces behind in her life and without a job and money. And in such situation she finds strength to climb up and finds job, money, gets respect and finds a man who falls in love with her. The plot is about a big corporation that poisonous chromium makes ill the villagers of small town. After investigation and the proof of such things that company finally pays many millions to that villagers as a compensation. A good film to enjoy in the evening with a cup of tea lying on the bed.

American Beauty (1999)

A good movie, but probably a bit overrated

Well the most beautiful thing about this film is it's name: so attractive and charming! The story is intriguing from the start when the main character tells us that he'll die in a year. And the finish of this film is also interesting filled with philosophical reflection about life and death. The story is rather ordinary about a man in his midlife crisis, his cheating wife and his passion for a teenage girl who is a friend of his daughter. It has some moments like seeing something unusual in ordinary things like plastic sac dancing on the wind and even a kiss between two men. Overall it's a nice film for watching when you need to relax and forget about your everyday problems, but there were better films in 1999. If you've never seen this film do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Cruel Intentions (1999)

Surprisingly a good film with great cast and interesting story

I remember watching this film when I was a teen and the most impressive moment was when Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) after falling in love with Ann (Reese Witherspoon) right after the fight with Ronald saves Ann and dies when a car crushes into him. This film is full of different intrigues, sex themes and interesting moments. There is also a touching love story when a very smart, cute an sexy guy falls in love with a nice girl though he intended just to sleep with her and then move on. The ending is interesting too when Kathryn gets what she deserves and the truth reveals. Yesterday I saw this film again and as in my teen years it's still a pleasure to see it.

Blast from the Past (1999)

A fair film that is boring at the beginning but the second half of it is interesting

This film has original plot. It starts with the party in 1962 as the father of the main character (Christopher Walken) telling a joke. He is a genius but strange at the same time and when all the people there watch TV news and Pr. Kennedy tells about missile lunch Walken asks everyone to leave and after that He and his wife (Sissy Spacek) stay at the underground bunker. The main character Adam (Brendan Fraser) lives for 35 years of his life there and this part of the film is quite boring but then when he gets on to the streets of modern Los Angeles it gets much more interesting especially when Eva (Alicia Silverstone) enters the film. She is a real pleasure for the eyes. Summarizing it's an interesting family comedy with elements of fantastic and it's an average one: not great but not poor either. It has many fun moments so if you can skip the first 20 or so minutes of slow start then it'll make you smile and even laugh.

Run Lola Run (1998)

A fair film with memorable main character who is red haired girl

This film has interesting main characters, plot that repeats itself three times in different variations, some philosophical themes about time, love and life. It's original story about a guy Manny who's got to get 100 000 DM in 20 minutes or he'll have trouble with his boss. His girl Lola has to help him and she does her best. It takes her three attempts to finally get on time and save her boyfriend. An interesting story that while not completely new it's told in a novice manner. By the way the words Run, somebody's name, Run are used quite often in my country. So this film is already a classic. Still I consider it just fair. It's worth a watch and has some memorable moments but don't expect here something extraordinary.

Out of Sight (1998)

George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez are really birlliant here

Very interesting action film about a bank robber Foley (George Clooney) and policewoman Karen (Jennifer Lopez). Both are charismatic and play their roles really good. This film has interesting plot, nice characters, romantic love story and sexy moments. One of the most interesting moment here is when Karen and Foley are in the luggage rack and talk to each other, their dialogue is something to enjoy! They talk about Bonnie and Clyde another classic film from the sixties so from that moment its definitely they have sympathy for each other. The ending is also quite unexpectable when Foley returns to prison but Karen wants to deliver him there. It's not a masterpiece, but still a good film to enjoy!
