"When he finds you... run." Those words of advice are taken to heart by a woman being pursued by the titular character in our exclusive clip from The Demolisher, which comes out on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD today from Mpi Media Group.

I don’t believe in Karma. But there may be something to it. I’m sitting in my basement getting a whiff of my own shit while trying to write about a movie called Septic Man. Nothing like a good rain to get the sewer backed up. Ugh. Here’s hoping I can get power through this while holding my nose.

Pro tip, ladies: A pregnancy test that comes up positive might just mean you are incubating some exotic fish-bug nasties. Ask your doctor! I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for stories about women

On May 6th, Scream Factory will unleash their gooey excursion into body horror, Bite, which was directed by Chad Archibald, who recently helmed two other notable indie genre efforts, The Drownsman and Ejecta. His latest film stars Elma Begovic as Casey, a young woman who is terrified of her impending adulthood; she’s about to get married and her fiancé is already chatting up his betrothed about babies and all sorts of grown-up matters. While on her bachelorette getaway in the tropics, Casey is bitten by an unknown organism and after she returns home, she realizes her bite is transforming her into something monstrous and beyond anything she could have ever imagined.
Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to speak with Archibald about what inspired the story of Bite, the challenges of keeping his body horror project feeling unexpected and unique, collaborating with newcomer Begovic on the film, and much more.

In this morning's round-up, we have a Q&A with Casper Van Dien from the supernatural horror film, June. Also: details on Dracula's prop auction, XLrator Media's 24 Hour Rental, a video tribute to Friday the 13th Part VIII called "Voorhees Stomp", a new poster for The Hexecutioners, and release details for Krampus: The Reckoning.
Casper Van Dien Q&A: "June tells the story of nine-year-old June (Brice) who has been shuffled in and out of foster homes for years. And though she tries to be good, no matter where she goes, a trail of chaos and terror seems to follow. It’s only when June is sent to live with a new couple, Lily (Pratt) and Dave (Van Dien), that it looks as if things might finally work out. Except this innocent child with the face of an angel is possessed by an ancient, malevolent entity that has hijacked her soul.

The night of a solar flare turns into an evening of eerie events in Ejecta, a new alien abduction film coming out on Blu-ray August 18th from Scream Factory. We've been provided with three copies of the Julian Richings-starring movie to give away.
Ejecta: "A horrific alien invasion forces two men to fight for their lives during one universe-altering night of terror. This nerve-shredding film stars Julian Richings (Cube, X-Men: The Last Stand) in a tour-de-force performance as William Cassidy, a man who, following decades of frightening extraterrestrial encounters, is now trapped in a living hell of fear and paranoia. On the evening of a massive solar flare, Cassidy invites paranormal researcher Joe Sullivan (Adam Seybold, Exit Humanity) to his secluded home in the woods. We love Fantasia because Bite is the sort of body horror movie you can’t get in many other festival experiences. Directed by Chad Archibald (The Drownsman, Ejecta), Bite is the story of a young woman turned into a mutant freak by something as innocent as an animal bite. Here’s the official synopsis:
While on her bachelorette party getaway, Casey, the bride to be, gets a seemingly harmless bite from an unknown insect. After returning home with cold feet, Casey tries to call off her wedding but before she’s able to, she starts exhibiting insect like traits. Between her physical transformation and her wedding anxiety, Casey succumbs to her new instincts and begins creating a hive that not only houses her translucent eggs, but feeds on the flesh of others. As her transformation becomes complete, Casey discovers that everything can change with a single bite.

Calling back to the minimalist sci-fi stories of yesteryear, Ejecta blends found footage camerawork with an Area 51-esque experiment that wants to prove the existence of alien lifeforms. Penned by genre favorite Tony Burgess (Pontypool/Septic Man), it’s a story about paranoia that hits on a possession arc we typically see connected to exorcisms and demonic overtakings – but it’s not one that dares to push the envelope.
What’s been said about extraterrestrial invasions is restated by Ejecta in a lot of the same ways, which only reminds us of past films that have executed interplanetary thrills with far more energy. Whether you’re thinking of the basement scene in Signs, or any first-person chase scene from the Vicious brothers’ Extraterrestrial, directors Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele are only able to produce another bland case of flying saucers and gangly spacemen. Nothing more, and nothing less.

It can be really hard to create new and compelling sci-fi stories involving aliens these days, especially on an indie scale. That’s why I will give Ejecta and its filmmakers, Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele, a lot of credit for what they've put together here. Unfortunately though, the scares are as scarce as movie’s alien antagonists, the story suffers from a bit of an identity crisis, and the lackluster conclusion left me feeling pretty underwhelmed by the time it was over.
Ejecta follows William Cassidy (Julian Richings), a troubled man who believes he’s being tormented by an alien life form and has taken to posting his theories online over the years out of frustration for his otherworldly predicament. One night, he reaches out to a documentarian (Adam Seybold) about his suspicions that aliens are going to be returning during a cosmic event and the two set out...

Often, with indie horror flicks, you have to accept that you're watching a demonstration of ingenuity rather than a coherent film: "Here's what I can do with two sets, five actors, and a couple weekends," the directors seem to be telling us — "Imagine what I'd do with a real budget." I can't speak with authority as to how Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele's Ejecta came together. It's half an interrogation and possession cheapie, in which a tough-cookie government agent (or something) played by the commanding and appealing Lisa Houle questions a UFO abductee (Julian Richings), and it's also half a not-bad found-footage alien footchase. But despite a convoluted timeline it's hard to buy that the script was much fussed over. Houle gets stuck with mouth...

The film follows Bill Cassidy (Julian Richings, "Man of Steel"), a blogger who claims to be hunted by an alien life form. Hi everyone! This is a feature we’ve been running in every issue of Deadly Horror & Sci-Fi Magazine and I thought this would also be a great resource for our readers here at Daily Dead as it can be often very difficult to keep up with everything arriving on VOD platforms each and every month.
Be sure to check back on the first week of each month to get all the details on what genre films you can look forward to on VOD!
The Voices (Lionsgate)- 2/6
Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) is an affable singleton who works on the factory floor at a bathtub factory, ever eager to get along with his co-workers, especially Fiona, (Gemma Arterton) and Lisa (Anna Kendrick) from accounts. After work Jerry goes home to his pet cat, Mr. Whiskers, and loyal dog Bosco, where the three of them hang out, watch TV and discuss the day’s events.

Aliens can be annoying, especially with all the probing and implanting they seem to do. Ejecta features a character that shows just why this is the case, especially if the aliens use the victims head as a radio conductor for their conversations. When people who complain about such things are normally seen as crazy, what happens if they are telling the truth? Then you get a film like Ejecta.
Ejecta focuses on William Cassidy (Julian Richings) who at the beginning of the film is captured by an anonymous group wanting to know the truth about the aliens he says he has encountered. Watching footage found recorded by still missing Joe Sullivan (Adam Seybold) featuring the recent actions of the duo Dr.

As we mourn the loss of summer, once the dust has settled here in Toronto in a couple of weeks time, all eyes turn to the Toronto After Dark Film Festival in October. Toronto After Dark is one of our city's premiere purveyors of weird, wonderful and fantastic cinema each year and will be celebrating its ninth edition with style. First and foremost, the festival is proud to host the World Premiere of After Dark alumnus John Geddes' Hellmouth. Severed fingers crossed the Exit Humanity director will bring along Hellmouth writer Tony Burgess (Pontypool, Septic Man and Ejecta) for another rousing Q&A session. There will be time for a grammar lesson in death with the Canadian premiere of ABCs of Death 2. I see no reason why local...

A more serious take on slime punk films like Toxic Avenger and Slime City, Jesse Thomas Cook's Septic Man (review) has more in common with Cronenberg’s tragic transformation tale The Fly.
Thanks mostly to the twisted mind of screenwriter Tony Burgess (Pontypool), Septic Man has a lot more going on under the surface than just a basic story about a man trapped underground inside a tank of absolute filth who begins to transform into something monstrous.
Director Cook spoke with us about the film and how it was one of the hardest, grossest experiences of his professional life thus far - but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have a hell of a time doing it.
DC: How was your experience at Fantasia with your latest sci-fi film Ejecta? Is there a favorite project you and [Tony] Burgess have worked on so far?

In the new Canadian horror movie Septic Man, Jason David Brown plays a sewage worker who falls into a septic tank and gradually mutates into a monstrous beastie. Brown won Best Actor in a Horror Film award at last year’s Fantastic Fest genre festival for his performance—but this gross-out film is not one to watch while you’re eating. Then again…
“At Fantastic Fest they actually handed out chocolate pudding in the middle of the screening,” recalls Septic Man director Jesse Thomas Cook. “It was a funny touch to see people eating chocolate pudding while Septic Man was knee-deep in the sewage.

ejecta posterI am not fond of alien movies, save for a few. I think I have said that before and I will say it again to be clear on my stance. That being said, Ejecta utilizes a powerful script, tension-building techniques and a dominant acting presence to create one solid extraterrestrial flick.
Ejecta tells the story of William Cassidy (Julian Richings) and his encounter of the third kind. William is a man plagued by strange occurrences: mass memory removal, floating on water, and mostly noises and voices in his head.

Imagine the messiest bathroom you’ve ever seen. Now imagine it 100 times more disgusting and even then it probably doesn’t equal the horrendous confines of the restroom in the opening scene of Septic Man, due out later this month from Starz Digital Media. We have a clip featuring a bile-inducing bathroom that could be a plumber’s private hell.
“Septic Man follows Jack, a sewage worker who is determined to uncover the cause of the town’s water contamination crisis. During his investigation, he becomes trapped underground in a septic tank and undergoes a hideous transformation. He must team up with a docile Giant and confront a murdering madman in order to escape. Hailed as a “stunning” (Little Red Umbrella), “funny” (TwitchFilm), and “visceral story that will leave you shaken and desperate for a shower” (Rue Morgue Magazine), Septic Man is an odyssey into the darkest depths of gross-out horror.
