“Morning Joe” guest Katty Kay, a BBC World News America anchor, said Thursday that many Europeans view America as a “freak show” that’s “dismissed around the world.” Kay recalled recently visiting family in Europe and noticing that the U.S. isn’t recognized by Europeans for “global leadership” during the Trump administration — and this was before the weekend violence in Charlottesville, Virginia that left a counter-protestor dead during a white supremacy rally. “The White House is losing moral authority around the world and Charlottesville doesn’t help that at all, and it’s almost an irrelevancy,” Kay said. “This is the country with the.

“Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have been publicly feuding with Donald Trump in recent days. With the pair now on vacation, guest Katty Kay opted not to mock the president’s recent actions, but take the media to task for giving it so much attention. Kay, a BBC World News America host, discussed Trump’s tweet that superimposed a CNN logo over WWE footage to signify him attacking the cable news network. Other nations are paying attention, she warned. “If you take just in isolation that whatever 15 seconds, it’s hard not to see somebody punching somebody in the face,...

Washington -- Who was the winner of Monday night's "Jeopardy!" Power Players game?
It's former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. Gibbs, currently an adviser to President Obama's re-election campaign, beat out CNN correspondent Lizzie O'Leary and MSNBC's Chris Matthews in the first of the "Jeopardy!" 2012 Power Players series matches, filmed in April at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in the nation's capital.
Gibbs won $50,000 for Pine Hills Literacy Project, an organization that works in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club in Auburn, Ala. O'Leary won $10,000 for 826Dc, which teaches writing to D.C. students. Matthews won $10,000 for La Salle College High School (he also won ridicule from blogger Noel Sheppard on the conservative website Newsbusters for what Sheppard sees as Matthews' lackluster performance).
Basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, CNBC anchor David Faber and Fox News contributor Dana Perino will square off in Tuesday night's Power Players match.

Bill Maher's roundtable guests this week are news anchor Katty Kay, former NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer and commentator Andrew Sullivan. Comedian-actor Colin Quinn is an interview guest. BBC World News America's Katty Kay is one of the few powerful women in media today. A recent report by the Washington-based International Women's Media Foundation claims men hold 73 percent of the top executive posts in media companies and that almost two-thirds of reporters are male. Kay recently spoke on a panel about this inequity. Quinn's one-man HBO show "Long Story Short" on April 9 is a 75-minute romp through the history of mankind.from cavemen and ancient Romans to the rise of China and the recent economic crises in...

There's conflict in the Middle East, Japan is in crisis, and a nation yearns for serious news coverage of world affairs. Sounds like a job for Ted Koppel. The longtime anchor of ABC's Nightline returns to the anchor chair tonight (one night only!) for a special edition of BBC World News America. While anchoring a nightly newscast has changed a lot since 1979 and another conflict in the Middle East that led to Nightline, Koppel's confident he knows which camera to look into, and we're sure his signature pipes (and hair) won't disappoint.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the end of the Iranian hostage crisis, Ted Koppel--whose ABC News show, Nightline, was created to cover the crisis--appeared on BBC World News America to talk about what's changed, and what hasn't. Koppel, who joked about how he's changed in three decades (the "ravages of time," he said) and pointed out that he's currently in a sling for a torn rotator cuff, said Iran, by comparison, has only grown in power and influence.

While Fox News, MSNBC and CNN soak up most of the cable news oxygen in the U.S., the Brits want a piece of the action. Rome Hartman, executive producer of BBC World News America, believes there’s a huge piece of the news landscape being ignored by the three main players in U.S. cable news: the world beyond Washington and Wasilla. Hartman believes the cable news networks are "relentlessly focused on domestic events and issues," leaving the rest of the world, essentially, ripe for the picking:...
