2025 could be the year of gentle giants in R&b: Summer Walker’s icy “Heart of a Woman” has been inescapable on Black radio, marking her biggest solo hit since her mainstream breakthrough six years ago. Over the past few weeks, British singer Cleo Sol’s airy hymns landed her sold out shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York and Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, hailed as sites of crying and catharsis for her cult fanbase. It seems When… — a new EP by Alex Isley, heir to soul royalty – out today,...

The biggest night in music is finally here! Tonight, the top names in music gathered for the 67th Grammy Awards.
The competition is stiff this year, with Beyoncé leading all nominees with 11, thanks to Cowboy Carter. She scored nods in not only the three major categories — Song, Record, and Album of the Year — but four different genre categories: Country, Pop, Rap, and Americana. Her 11 nominations also made her the most nominated artist in Grammy history with 99 (she previously shared the record, 88, with her husband, Jay-Z).

Typically, the dance/electronic field at the Grammys is pretty easy to predict. Last year it was obvious that Fred Again was ahead of the competition, with four nominations overall. The year before Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” was the predictable winner, as it was far and away the most popular and acclaimed album in the lineup. However, this year is more interesting. While there’s one big neon green lock, there are a lot of possibilities in the other category, with perhaps the threat of a veteran act pulling off a surprise win.
Let’s start with Charli Xcx, whose “Brat” is up for Best Dance/Electronic Album. She is easily the frontrunner, with “Brat” being the biggest popular hit in the lineup, as well as the most critically acclaimed album of the year. The album received nine nominations overall, including Album of the Year. Another serious contender is Justice for their album “Hyperdrama.

Tyler, the Creator officially kicked off his Chromakopia era with a new song, “Noid,” that comes with a music video featuring a cameo from Ayo Edebiri.
“Noid,” as its title suggests, is all about paranoia, built around a garage rock-style beat that boasts a guitar riff somewhat reminiscent of early Black Sabbath (an apt choice, of course, for a song about being paranoid). After the song’s uneasy hook — “Para- paranoia/Feel it in my aura/Living between cameras and recorders” — Tyler delivers a blisteringly quick and fidgety verse.

Tyler, the Creator is back again with “Noid,” a new song off his upcoming album Chromakopia.
“Noid” arrives just days after Tyler, the Creator teased the new project with “St. Chroma,” a short-but-intriguing offering that we named as one of our Songs of the Week. Chromakopia serves as Tyler, the Creator’s seventh album and the follow-up to his acclaimed 2021 LP Call Me If You Get Lost.

While “St. Chroma,” with its 85 second runtime, was a bit of a feint as a lead single, “Noid” is a more meaty offering from the hip-hop auteur. With a crawling, snare-driven beat, Sabbath-esque guitars, and bubbling synths and piano, “Noid” builds more momentum with each musical phrase. Tyler raps about experiencing some major paranoia: “I can’t even buy a home in private,” he says, before muttering in a panic, “Notice every car that’s driving by...

Kaytranada has something sinister up his sleeve. The DJ and producer released a music video Wednesday for “Witchy” featuring Childish Gambino, the 16th track off his latest album Timeless. The nearly four minute video show Kaytranada and Gambino grooving in a cool-toned studio when a phantom-like figure begins to mirror Gambino’s dance movements.

Justice have paired their Tame Impala-featuring song “Neverender,” a breakout track from the French duo’s latest LP Hyperdrama, with a new video inspired by Eighties anime.
Directed by Masanobu Hiraoka along with Justice’s longtime collaborators Pascal Teixeira and Armand Beraud, the “Neverender” visual also draws influence from the psychedelic works of legendary French artist Moebius.
“’The Neverender’ music video gave us the perfect opportunity to channel many of our visual influences, all while making them more distinctive through Masanobu Hiraoka’s unique reinterpretation,” Justice said in a statement.

Stephen Colbert has been a busy man, between hosting The Late Show and attending the DNC. He's the most politically minded of the late night hosts, of course, so it was a balanced the comedian had a fun time pulling off.
The upcoming week will see Colbert get back into his Late Show groove, though, and he's booked an impressive roster of guests. Monday, September 2, will see the host converse with Pete Buttigieg, the US Secretary of Transportation, about the upcoming Presidential election.

Kali Uchis will release Orquídeas Parte 2, a follow-up to her album Orquídeas, on Aug. 9. The singer revealed the news in an Instagram Reel, although it’s unclear whether it’s a collection of new songs or remixes of the tracks off Orquídeas, which arrived in January.

On Thursday, June 18, the star performed a show at an exclusive party in Los Angeles celebrating Gucci Flora, and she brought her signature fire to make the event even more memorable.

Channel Tres took his last shot of alcohol in 2021. During a music session a couple of months later, he smoked his last blunt, albeit with funk music pioneer George Clinton (“I got high with George Clinton. I don’t need to get high anymore,” he says.) Tres spent his formative years using substances to avoid his trauma growing up in Compton but these days, with a crib in California and gigs playing in front of packed crowds at the legendary club Berghain, Tres is choosing to be high on life.

The MaXXXine world premiere in Hollywood featured A-list stars, epic red carpet moments, and a meta celebration of fame and celebrity. Director Ti West emphasized the importance of experiencing the film in a theater setting during the jam-packed screening at the TLC Chinese Theatre. MaXXXine, the third part of a horror trilogy with Mia Goth, intertwines fame, secrets, and a deadly game of survival against a backdrop of Hollywood's dark past. It hits theaters Fourth of July weekend.
MovieWeb just attended the June 24 world premiere of MaXXXine world premiere in Hollywood, where director Ti West, star Mia Goth, and plenty of other A-listers were in attendance. Breaking Bad alum Giancarlo Esposito put on a clinic on the red carpet, where protesters were also seen waving disparaging signs about the dangers of Hollywood. After a closer glance, however, it became clear these demonstrators were just one of many aspects that the premiere had gleefully organized.

The average high temperature in Quebec City in March is 33 degrees Fahrenheit, with a low of around 18. That’s apparently of no consequence to the locals, who have chosen the month for an outdoor music festival appropriately dubbed Igloofest. The annual event, billed as “the coldest music festival in the world,” is an opportunity for Québécois music lovers to flex their winter gear, with revelers in full-body ski suits, snow goggles, and what appears to be the most advanced outdoor apparel on the market.
